I am planning to have this preamp built. I am starting this thread hoping to generate interest on possible group buy of the PCB. The gerber files for the PCB and the bill of materials for the parts are available from the threads below. The DOST-EPDC can make the PCB for a minimum number of 4 units. They can also provide service for soldering the SMD (and even trough hole) parts for us whose with no soldering skills. :D

All components in the published bill of materials (or its equivalent) are locally available through RS and Element14,.
Cost? In my intitial query DOST-EBDC said it will be at least 2.4K for 4 PCBs (P600 each). Components from RS and Farnell would cost around 4K. This excludes the transformer (2x15V 15-30VA), enclusre, (and the drilling/cutting/CNC), IEC, pilot light and some other minor components and labor services for us with no skills. :D

what is the size of the pcb? 600 php for 1 pcb is kinda steep, I had mine fabricated by my friend in China for only a fraction of that cost. this looks like a god project as I still have 2 torroid with the same specs that I got from Mouser few months ago

same project as diyaudio? Dandy Menor can design a balanced input/output line amp easy...i have a pair of balanced input output XLR boards from thailand, i forgot how much i got them for....doesn't cost that much...

different project sir tony, but I had my Objective 2 HP amp board and Sapphire amp by RJM from diyaudio fabricated via dandy for a fraction of a cost.

i will post this in our FB user group, there are at least ten board layout artists in our group who can do layouts...
the simplest solution to balanced in and balanced out stage is the use of interstage traffos from sowter, jensen or cinemag edcor or hammond...a 10k:10k traffo is good to use here...
i bet Edrel Sison can make such traffos too using the z11 cores...

sayang di na aabot,uuwi siya sa 17 at may event daw sila sa Baguio, inaaya nga ako kung meron ako project na pwede ko i display sa event niya. I Think walang min qty for PCB assembly with SMT parts,balik na daw ulit sila sa dati kasi free na ulit yung ibang mga kasama niya, so baka continue ulit mga diy kits na semi-assembled.
@romy - kung madami interest sa GB nito baka gusto nila na assembled na yung mga smt components para hindi na mahirap magbuo. may estimate ka na ba kung mga ilang pc kaya?

Guesstimate ko sa parts mga 3-4k,ang medyo mahal yung xlr connector kung reputable brand ang bibilhin. Try ko gumawa ng project sa mouser para makakuha ng quote. Yung torroid nito nasa 700 ang isa from mouser din.

rochie, i do not like torroids for these type of amps, an EI with primary screens is much better for noise...
and since the boards were designed for smt's it makes more sense to get them with the resistors soldered in....

I think Sir rochies guesstimate is about right. When I made an estimate of cost of parts for 1 pcb using RS Philippines and element14 Philippines it's around 4.1K excluding the trafo. With group buy malamang mas mura if we can have the numbers and from Mouser. :D

Sir rochie, those are Hypex HXR voltage regulators, drop in replacements for the LM7812/7912 voltage regulators. Supposed to be better but much much $$$ expensive. :D

sorry, di pa pala ako nakakagawa ng BOM sa mouser but what Ive sent to my friend is the downloadable bom from diyaudio so that he can count and check what package are used for the components. btw min order qty pala ng mga components is 250pc if we want the pcb assembly pero it cheaper kasi bulk baka if we can fill the 9 pcs and then 4.5K pesos for mouser bom baka kayanin na for pcb assembly and then may extra components pa tayo for future use.

BTW yung BOM galing sa www.diyaudio.com ay naka Excel at dalawang sheet. Yung isa ay "Original BOM" (BOM prepared by Hans Polak) and "Latest 15-02-2016" which is 'better and improved' based on results of earlier builds. I suggest that we use the "Latest"

Esep ko kasi wala pa ako maikabit na source dito since mga CDP, TT at DAC ko ay puro RCA outs lang. Pero try ko revive ICE amps ko using this.

ako halos kokonti langdin naman yung mga binuo ko na talagang nagagamit ko hehehehe, yung iba is for the sake na meron ka lang talaga mabutingting on your free time or gusto matutunan. halos yung ibang diy amp na nabuo ko na at natesting ko na gumana wala pa ding mga case/chassis haha kaya andun nasa kahon lang din hehehe, kumbaga it's the journey not the destination :D :D :D

yes to this, i think will be best that we get these boards as they will cost cheaper than with smt's and turn around will be faster too...
i was about to ask someone from the other forum to redesign the board for thru hole...

UPDATE: As per advise by our technical team rochie and tony, only SMTs will be pre-assembled to the PCB, not the through hole components. We will wait for the cost estimate c/o rochie. :D :D

@All - aabutin ng 21K for all the boards na assembled na with SMT components with extra parts,medyo mahal dahil sa 1% tolerance nung components and the min order qty na kailangan,pero for sure madami tayong spare na parts :D :D :D :D so need naman ng additional boards hahahahha.

if boards lang kukuha ka pa din? fabricated na yung boards pero hindi ko pa pinapa ship papunta dito sa manila coz sabi ko antayin muna decision kung ipapaassemble na. 250pcs kasi min order qty per components eh kaya medyo malaki na yung presyo. pero kung susumahin parang mas mura pa din compare sa 4-4.5K na mouser/rs-components price per board.

1. Can you post the proposed BOM of the assembler of SMTs (including brand and part number)? A listing similar in format sa diyaudio BOM.. I am interested how our BOM is similar or different from the diyaudio BOM.
2. Duon sa diyaudio BOM, all resistors have 0.1% tolerances (except for 2.2M ohm which is 1% tolerance). According to the diyaudio forum threads, critical is R1 to R8 which should have tolerances of 0.1 % and 10ppm . The rest of the resistors are less critical in terms of tolerance and 1% tolareance might be OK.
3. I am still committed to have my board pre-assembled. But I would like to see first the proposed BOM and how it compares to the diyaudio BOM. As much as possible I wish our BOM is very similar to the diyaudio BOM in terms of specs and tolerances. Their BOM is already well proven by 3 batches of group buys already. :D
Sir tony, I hope you will still get two bare PCBs :D

I gave the bom from the link that you've provided but only use 1% tolerance components since according to my friend 0.1% is kinda expensive

shipping charge is very minimal lang naman kasi konti lang yung boards, based on my experience wala pang 1KG yun, my friend can send it via LBC since he frequent Hongkong, so he can ship it from there as a "balikbayan" box

pag nakuha ko na mga boards i can probably send it out via LBC/JRS to everybody, I think JRS is cheaper for NCR than LBC and they also deliver next day. you can just deposit the shipping charge to my bpi account.

To clarify, the P233.34 per board covers the cost the board plus shipping from China to rochie's place.

Dear All,
As per suggestion ni rochie, he will ship the boards sa akin (I'm located in Nueva Ecija) and in turn will ship them to you. Total cost per board will be Php 233.34 plus shipping cost from rochie to me plus shipping cost from me to you. :D I will later let you know how much will be the total cost per board.. :D
Unless somebody have better suggestions, we will do this very soon. :D

@All - taga Nueva Ecija pala si Romy so its more economical kung ako na lang mag ship nung mga boards sa inyo since most of us dito lang sa manila,JRS is cheaper i think nasa 110 lang compared to LBC na nasa 155 pesos.pa PM na lang ako ng mga address nyo and ill give you my BPI account para doon nyo na lang i transfer yung payment, or kung malapit kayo sa Alabang or Pioneer mandaluyong pwede tayo mag meet or I can grab express lite it para matanggap nyo agad.
@Romy - pa update na lang dito kung sino na yung nakabayad sayo so that I can arrange the shipping to them

guys, sorry for the delayed shipment, I though I can send this out during the holiday but mas lalong naging hectic yung sched ko up until last week pagbalik ko sa work. will be sending out the confirmed boards later this afternoon.

I used to DIY a lot of amp back in the day, I still have some schematics & PCB layout (BTW if you need a layout guy ;) )
We used to make Altec, Marantz, BGW.... laman lagi ng raon.
I miss those days ;D

the diy scene is alive and kicking well, what with numerous fb groups that encompassed the whole luzon visayas and mindanao....masaya talaga sa facebook, i can not even be in all of them, simply no time, i get news feeds from time to time...local diy'ers are now using boards made in china out of board layout design made by local talents.....exciting times this is......
