Seth Rogen’s The Boys Series Lands at Amazon
Amazon has announced that another comic book adaptation from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg has found a home as The Boys has received a series order from the streaming service. The first season of The Boys, based on the comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, will run for eight episodes and premiere in 2019.
The series ran from 2006 to 2012 and is described as follows: “In a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, The Boys centers on a group of vigilantes known informally as ‘the boys,’ who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.”
The series will be co-produced by Sony Pictures Television Studios and created and written by showrunner Eric Kripke (Supernatural), and directed by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen. The series will be executive produced by Kripke, Goldberg, Rogen, Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz (Prison Break), Ori Marmur (Preacher) and Pavun Shetty (New Girl), as well as Point Grey Pictures’ James Weaver (Preacher). Ennis and Robertson are also slated to co-executive produce.
The Boys featured direct parodies of countless superheroes, including its own twisted versions of The Justice League, The Avengers, Teen Titans, The Fantastic Four, X-Men, and The New Mutants; in addition to characters directly riffing on the likes of Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Batman, Iron Man, Thor, and countless others.
“In a landscape saturated with superhero shows, The Boys is the next evolution in this popular genre,” said Sharon Tal Yguado, Head of Scripted Series, Amazon Studios. “With Eric, Evan, Seth and Original Film all behind this series, we are excited to adapt this popular comic, from the visionary minds of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, for television.”
“We are very happy to have the unique opportunity to produce a second series based on the subversive and innovative world of Garth Ennis,” says Chris Parnell, Co-President of Sony Pictures Television Studios. “And we are thankful to Sharon and her team at Amazon for their vision, partnership, and support.”
The series marks the second adaptation of a Garth Ennis comic series by Rogen and Goldberg, who serve as executive producers on AMC’s Preacher.

Erin Moriarty Cast in The Boys as Superhero Starlight
Deadline brings word of the first cast member for Amazon’s upcoming adaptation of the comic book series The Boys with the casting of Erin Moriarty as Annie January, aka the superhero Starlight.
In the series, Starlight is a hopeful and optimistic young hero that gets called up to the “big leagues” and joins The Seven (an R-rated parody of DC Comics’ Justice League team) whom she idolizes, until she finds out that they’re all deranged and have only hired her to humiliate her for their own amusement. Her powers include flight, super hearing, and the ability to unleash a blinding light.
Moriarty is no stranger to comic book adaptations having previously appeared in Marvel’s Jessica Jones. Her other credits include Kings of Summer, True Detective, and Red Widow.

‘The Boys’: Antony Starr, Chace Crawford, Dominique McElligott & Jessie Usher Cast In Amazon’s Superhero Drama Series
Antony Starr (American Gothic), Dominique McElligott (The Last Tycoon), Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl), Jessie T. Usher (Survivor’s Remorse) and Nathan Mitchell (iZombie) have joined Erin Moriarty as leads in Amazon’s straight-to-series drama The Boys, Deadline has learned.
Starr will play Homelander, leader of the main superhero team, The Seven. McElligott plays Queen Maeve, member of The Seven. Usher will play another The Seven member, A-Train, a superhero faster than a speeding train. Crawford will play The Seven member The Deep, an aquatic hero. Mitchell plays Black Noir, a masked superhero with fighting and Set martial arts skills.

Laz Alonso (NBC’s The Mysteries of Laura) has been cast in Amazon’s straight-to-series drama The Boys, from Supernatural creator and Timeless co-creator Eric Kripke, Preacher‘s Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen and Sony Pictures TV.
Alonso will play Mother’s Milk. Second in command of the Boys, he’s is a great detective, highly intelligent and observant and an intuitive investigator.

Jack Quaid (The Hunger Games) is set as a lead in Amazon’s straight-to-series drama The Boys.
Quaid will play Hughie. After the death of his girlfriend by fast-moving Superhero A-Train (Jessie Usher), Hughie is approached by a mysterious “government agent” named Billy Butcher, who drags Hughie into a covert war against a group of Superheroes who are not what everyone thinks they are.
Quaid, son of Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan, made his screen debut in The Hunger Games and its followup, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. In TV, he co-starred on the HBO drama Vinyl. Quaid, who will next be seen in the Dwayne Johnson monster pic Rampage, is repped by UTA and Anonymous Content.

Karl Urban is returning to the small screen.
The Star Trek and Lord of the Rings actor has landed the starring role in Amazon Studios' straight-to-series superhero drama The Boys.
The Boys takes places in a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, and centers on a group of vigilantes known informally as "the boys" who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.
Urban will play Billy Butcher, who is described as mysterious and brutal with a personal but secret agenda. He approaches Hughie (Jack Quaid), claiming to be a shadowy government operative. Butcher capitalizes on Hughie's rage over his girlfriend Robin’s (uncast) accidental death at the hands of Superhero A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) and enlists Hughie as part of his plan to bring down the superhero system.

Elisabeth Shue To Co-Star In Amazon Superhero Series
Former CSI: Crime Scene Investigation star Elisabeth Shue is set as a series regular in Amazon’s straight-to-series drama The Boys, from Supernatural creator and Timeless co-creator Eric Kripke, Preacher‘s Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen and Sony Pictures TV.
Shue will play Madelyn Stillwell. Corporate and formidable Madelyn is the Vice President of Hero Management for Vought, in charge of the public persona as well as the assignments of the Superheroes. Madelyn is a tough negotiator who rides roughshod over public relations dilemmas, such as when Superhero A-Train accidentally kills an innocent bystander and damage control needs to be done at any price, or when a city Mayor requests a Superhero for his own beleaguered town.

A member of Comic Con royalty joined Amazon’s The Boys today onstage in New York as Simon Pegg made a surprise visit to announce he is joining the Amazon series.
Walking out with a “hello everybody,” the Shaun of the Dead, Star Trek and Mission: Impossible alum said he will play the father of Hughie, the character he inspired in the very dark and grit-filled Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson comics on which the TV series is based.

The Boys Becomes One of Amazon’s Most Watched Series
It’s been just two weeks since the premiere of Amazon Prime Video’s adaptation of The Boys, and now the streaming service has revealed that the first season has exceeded expectations and become one of Amazon’s most watched series of all time.
“We are thrilled that The Boys has surpassed our predictions for viewing in its first two weeks, and has become one of our most watched Amazon Original series by our Prime Video customers,” Head of Amazon Studios Jennifer Salke said in a statement (via IGN). “This creates great momentum and excitement for us as we get ready for season two.”
“I’m so beyond thrilled with the response to Season 1,” showrunner Eric Kripke added. “And mainly, it’s made me get my ass in gear and work even harder on Season 2. I don’t want Season 2 to go bigger, I want it to go deeper. A more intense, more insane, more wrenching, more character-driven season. It’s my one and only goal to make Season 2 even better than Season 1.”
The official numbers of viewers were not given by the streaming service.

‘Supernatural’s’ Jensen Ackles Joins ‘The Boys’ Season 3
“Supernatural” star Jensen Ackles is jumping from one Eric Kripke show right into another. The actor is joining the cast of “The Boys” in its third season, Ackles and Amazon Prime Video announced Monday.
Ackles will portray Soldier Boy aka the original superhero in the streaming drama. After Soldier Boy fought in World War II, he became the first super celebrity and a mainstay of American culture for decades.
“When I was a child, I had a crazy, impossible dream — to provide Jensen Ackles with gainful employment,” said Kripke in a statement. “I’m happy to say that dream has come true. Jensen is an amazing actor, an even better person, smells like warm chocolate chip cookies, and I consider him a brother. As Soldier Boy, the very first superhero, he’ll bring so much humor, pathos, and danger to the role. I can’t wait to be on set with him again, and bring a bit of ‘Supernatural’ to ‘The Boys.’”
“The Boys” was renewed for a third season ahead of its second, which launches on Sept. 4 on Amazon. The show is based on the best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson and was developed by Eric Kripke, who also serves as showrunner.

‘The Boys’ Spinoff in Development at Amazon Following Massive Season 2 Launch
“The Boys” could soon be getting a spinoff. Variety has learned that Amazon is fast-tracking development on a new iteration of the popular comic book series adaptation.
The news comes just under three weeks after the premiere of Season 2 of the series, which is based on The New York Times best-selling comic of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.
The spinoff is set at America’s only college exclusively for young adult superheroes (or “supes”) that is run by Vought International. It is described as an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. Part college show, part Hunger Games — with all the heart, satire and raunch of “The Boys.”
Craig Rosenberg is writing the pilot and will serve as showrunner and executive producer under his overall deal with Sony Pictures Television, with Rosenberg currently serving as writer and executive producer on the original series. “The Boys” creator Eric Kripke will also executive produce along with “The Boys” executive producer Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver of Point Grey Pictures. Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty, who also executive produce “The Boys,” are also executive producers on the spinoff. Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television will produce.

The Boys Spinoff 'Loosely Inspired' by X-Men Parody G-Men From the Comics
During an interview with TheWrap, The Boys creator and showrunner Eric Kripke revealed that the recently announced spinoff, centering on young adult superheroes in college, is “loosely inspired” by the G-Men, a parody of the X-Men from The Boys comic book series created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.
“Part of the G-Men is there’s sort of an educational, college experience,” said Kripke. “And we just used that as a jumping-off point, kind of similar to The Boys, where we sort of take an initial notion and then we are going to run with it in our own weird direction.”
“Me and Seth [Rogen] and Evan [Goldberg] and Craig Rosenberg, we don’t feel the need to jam spinoffs out there,” Kripke added. “We were just talking and we stumbled onto this idea and we were so excited about it, we took it to Amazon. Because we think there’s a real opportunity to see another part of the Vought world. But probably, more importantly, to make a show that isn’t really made that often, which is what we love about it, which is, as The Boys is an unflinching look at reality, the goal for this is to make this superhero show one of the most realistic college shows anyone’s made. And really deal with real college issues and really explore what it’s like to be that age.”
Craig Rosenberg, an executive producer and writer on the main series, is writing the pilot for the potential spin-off and is set to act as showrunner and executive producer for the new project alongside main series’ creator Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver of Point Grey Pictures and Neal H. Finished Season 2 last night. So far, every episode of this series has been outstanding in production quality, acting and character development. I have the complete comic book series in their TPB editions. Although I still have not completed reading the entire run yet, I honestly find the show a good enhancement over the source material. Looking forward to Season 3.

1) I am guessing Homelander was holding back with Stormfront in that earlier seduction scene. Also, Ryan has the potential to be even stronger and more powerful than his father, Homelander. When they explore this angle in future seasons, I think this will cause a moral dilemma to The Boys, particularly to Billy Butcher.
2) Although her main power is energy projection, Starlight also has enhanced strength and skin. She is not in the level of say Homelander, Black Noir or Maeve, but still stronger than normal humans. This was proven when she easily recovered from Butcher's high caliber round and when The Boys needed a saw to cut through her skin in order to remove a tracking device. In Season 1, Starlight was also shown to be able to punch holes in walls and lift a car.

Eric Kripke Reveals The Boys Season 3 Premiere Title & New Details
Now that all episodes of The Boys Season 2 are streaming on Amazon Prime Video, Eric Kripke has revealed the Season 3 premiere title as “Payback,” written by Craig Rosenberg, while also confirming they hope to begin filming in early 2021.
Kripke also teased a few details for Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy who will be making his introduction in the next season. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the showrunner discussed Payback, the name of Soldier Boy’s superhero team that Kripke says “was the Seven before the Seven,” adding, “We will be exploring the history of that team and all the members in it.”
“One of the reasons that we’re getting into Soldier Boy [in Season 3] and that team, Payback, is we’re interested in exploring a little bit of how we got here,” Kripke explained. “Through the history of the supes, we can tell a little bit about the history of America and how we ended up in the current fraught position that we’re in. Soldier Boy gives us an opportunity to do that.”
As the outlet notes, in the comics, other members of Soldier Boy’s superhero team Payback included Stormfront (Aya Cash), Eagle Archer (played by Langston Kerman in Season 2), Tek Knight (referenced by Colby Minifie’s Ashley), and Crimson Countess.

The Boys Season 3 to Feature Popular NSFW Storyline from the Comics
The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke took to Twitter to reveal the title for the sixth episode of the upcoming third season of Amazon Prime’s hit superhero series, teasing that the series will finally be adapting the fan-favorite (and NSFW!) storyline from the comics. Written by Jessica Chou, episode 3.06 titled “Herogasm,” will be based on Gareth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s six-issue The Boys spinoff comic series of the same name.
In the comics, the said NSFW story arc featured the Seven including Homelander along with other Vought superheroes as they all pretend to leave Earth for a fake mission against alien threats. The supes instead go on to an island resort for a wild weekend filled with sex and drugs. Naturally, Butcher along with rest of The Boys followed them to the resort in order to discover and gain some strong evidence against the wrongdoings of Vought.

I think this is more of the limbs burning out faster than the trunk just because of it's size compared to the trunk. Burned out na yung limbs pero may natira pa onti for the trunk dahil mas malaki siya.

The Boys Season 3 is adding a few more Supes this season with the additions of Miles Gaston Villaneuva (Law & Order True Crime), Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints), and Nick Wechsler (Revenge). The actors will portray Supersonic, Gunpowder, and Blue Hawk, respectively, in the upcoming season (according to EW).
There’s no official confirmation on Villaneuva’s Supersonic story or his superpowers, though rumors suggest this character could be Starlight’s (Erin Moriarty) ex-boyfriend. Flanery’s Gunpowder sounds as though he will be a more weapons-focused Supe, but details are scarce on the new characters, including Wechsler’s Blue Hawk. The three new characters are reportedly original creations for the series adaptation and not within the comic book realm created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. Perhaps they will be members of Soldier Boy’s (Jensen Ackles) old superhero team Payback, or they will have separate roles among Vought’s superheroes.

Amazon Prime Video has announced an eight-episode pickup of “Diabolical,” an animated anthology series set in the same universe as the streamer’s hit superhero show “The Boys.” The production was confirmed through a video message featuring actor Karl Urban, who portrays Billy Butcher in “The Boys,” released during one of Amazon Prime Video’s Comic-Con Experience 2021 virtual panels.

Season finale thoughts: They could’ve just brought the boy somewhere safe and still completed the mission of eliminating Homelander but that would have ended the series. Medyo letdown yung hero’s sacrifice ni Maeve but i understand the writers didn’t want to fall into that trope of the queer characters always dying. Ivang-iba na takaga sa comics yung show. Sa comics, Soldier boy was someone who had sex with Homelander every year to try to get in the Seven. And Black Noir was a clone of Homelander whose job was to kill Homelander if he went rogue.

The Boys Season 4 Release Delayed Due to Writers Strike
Executive producer Erik Kripke took to Twitter to give fans an update regarding The Boys Season 4 release. Kripke confirmed that the long-awaited return of Amazon’s hit R-rated superhero series has been affected by the ongoing writers strike. The Season 4 premiere will depend on “how long the WGA strike goes,” as the showrunner urges fans to tell studios “make a fair deal” with the writers.
In addition, when a fan asked how does the strike affect The Boys Season 4 even though it had already wrapped its production, Kripke revealed there’s still “a good amount of dialogue we [they] write in post that the actors come back to record (called ADR), to help bridge story gaps or clarify a plot point.” He stressed that writing is must at “every stage of the process.”
