Title: Cobra Kai (The Karate Kid saga continues)
Post by: anya618 on Mar 12, 2018 at 08:24 PM: Set thirty years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, the series focuses on Johnny Lawrence reopening the Cobra Kai dojo, which causes his rivalry with Daniel LaRusso to be reignited.

Post by: raptor on May 06, 2018 at 01:15 PM: I just binged watch the Cobra Kai series - really a good one with a different twist and flashbacks from the original Karate kid movie. Just realized that Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) died 12 years ago - been a long time.

They flipped the switch - the antagonist becomes the likeable underdog now, while then protagonist somewhat becomes a douche.

The series has a nice 80's vibe to it, from the music to the cheesy putbacks and other lines.

I'm curious how the millenials find this series ........ baka kaya ko lang nagustuhan ito, dahil batang 80's ako. :D

He was supposed to be the underdog but I can't help NOT rooting for him. :)

Anyways, I liked how this series turned out. There was no real good or bad guy here (except perhaps for the "popular" group in school). Most of the characters were relatable, so you kinda understand why they were doing what they were doing even if it was not exactly the right thing to do.

Looking forward to where they take a second season of this show.

Loved watching this so much I had to binge watch it after getting a taste of the 1st episode.

Agree... Robby Keene was probably the worst thing about this series... his face is just so... punchable. He's also the "first son" in Designated Survivor and I disliked him there too.

May bias nga lang yung kuwento niya, kaya biglang siya ang aggrieved party. I guess, from his point of view, ganun nga ang nangyari
Medyo nakakatawa nga yung scene na yun and that's another reason I loved this show. :)

Already renewed for a third season. That's going to be a long wait!

Daniel and Johnny both have good intentions, kaya lang something always comes in the way kaya nag-aaway sila...

Now on episode 6, and still can't bring myself to like the Robby character. Ang angas kasi ng mukha nung actor parang mas bagay siya as a bully.

YouTube’s flagship scripted series Cobra Kai will be moving to a new streaming platform for its upcoming third season. The Google-owned online video service is in the process of releasing Season 3 of the popular show to producing studio Sony Pictures TV amid a retreat from premium original scripted programming.

Sony TV had taken Cobra Kai out, with all major streamers expressing interest, sources said. I hear the field of suitors has been narrowed down, with Netflix and Hulu leading the short list of contenders for the Karate Kid sequel series, starring Ralph Macchio and William Zabka.

I then realized two things - locally, YouTube Premium isn't well received and the reach of NETFLIX is just massive these days.

The actor playing Robby is probably the weakest link for me. Yup, hindi talaga siya likeable. Even when he was being bullied in detention, I can't get myself to feel sorry for him. Nasa Designated Survivor pala siya and played another whiny teenager character.

I really think that they built him up to be the on the side of the bad guys. Di lang naman tayo nakakapansin na antipatiko talaga yung dating kaya bagay sa character nya na kontrabida pretty sure na ganon din tingin sa kanya ng mga directors, and on the other end, di bagay na kontrabida si Miguel. On the first 2 seasons, toss-up kung sino ang bad guys, with the realignment of the characters, the Cobra Kai team is back to its original roots - bad guys and bullies. Ang tanong na lang e kung matatanggap ng Miyagi dojo na gawing Eagle Fang yung pangalan nila :)

Although the fourth season of Netflix’s hit series Cobra Kai hasn’t been released yet, the fifth installment of the series is already in the works, with two major MMA fighters set to join the series in some capacity.

During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, mixed martial artist and Ultimate Fighting Championship star Stephen Thompson revealed that both he and former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley would be featured in Cobra Kai Season 5, although he didn’t speak too much on what their roles would entail.

“I chatted with [Woodley] not too long doing some Cobra Kai stuff. I can’t really give too much away but we were there hanging out, and yeah, the beef has been squashed,” Thompson said. “Since then, he’s awesome and fun to hang out with while we were there. I didn’t get to hang out with him a ton but while we were there on set.”

Thompson confirmed that it is an acting role and that it was a natural fit considering his background as a karateka. “I’m like known as the karate guy [in UFC], so everybody has been wondering, ‘Hey, man. When are you going to do the Cobra Kai thing?’ … I can’t really give too much away, but be looking out.”

In a recent interview with Deadline, Cobra Kai creators Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald, and Hayden Schlossberg have finally opened up about the upcoming fifth season of the hit Netflix series, which already wrapped its production three months ago.

Hurwitz and Heald went on to describe the fifth season’s storyline as unpredictable, teasing Karate Kid fans of more potential appearances of familiar characters from the films.

“Season 4 everyone knew that we were heading toward a tournament — Season 5, no one knows where we are headed,” Hurwitz said. “We do, because we already made it. There’s a lot of insanity; if you’re a fan of the franchise, maybe some familiar faces show up, maybe not; there’s going to be a lot of karate.”

Heald added, “The bad guys won in Season 4, so there’s going to be some hell to pay, whether there’s more hellfire or retribution. There’s lot of people punching each other, kicking other, but the story is going to go in a new way that no one can possibly predict.”

When asked about the future, Schlossberg confirmed they already have an idea of how Cobra Kai will end. Despite this, he admitted that getting to the end won’t be in the near future as they still have a “few more seasons,” mapped out for the martial art comedy-drama series.

“We have an end in mind,” Schlossberg explained. “How many seasons it takes to get there, we don’t know. We’re enjoying making it so much. If it gets tiring to us, we’ll stop before that; we have a few more seasons already planned out.”

Cobra Kai co-creator Hayden Schlossberg has confirmed the episode count and runtime of the series’ upcoming final season, revealing on X (formerly Twitter) that Cobra Kai Season 6 will consist of 10 episodes. He also noted that “total runtime for the full season will be the longest,” indicating that at least one of those 10 episodes will have a longer runtime than usual for the Netflix series.
