It's a small apartment living room so I definitely do not want boomy, reverberating bass. Is this a realistic budget both used and brand new? If so, I'm fine with stretching it a bit.

For Brand new check out US Audio, Konzert and Wharfedale
For used gear Checkout the Buy and sell section, I know there is a JBL and Polk for 10K being sold by Markcrenz
-
The Polk is sold na while the JBL appears to be 110v :(

Just use a transformer :) Most AVR have 110v

JAMO 200
^This!
To the OP: Someone is selling a used unit here at a very decent price (7.5k down to 6k). You might want to check.

Anyway, I'm using the same sub for my small HT set up. It provides the right amount of bass I exactly need for both movies and music. Although I have another sub which is a Energy EPS-150 which is dedicated for my music/DJ production.

wait for someone who's selling a polk 10".
kahit brand new definitely worth it.
ask suppliers for a discount. di na malayo sa 10k yan.

I can include a 1500 VA transformer with 110 & 100 V taps for free. ;)

You should upgrade :)
I had the same subwoofer (Jamo sub 200) in the past and it was outclassed by my 8 inch JBL SCS178. Now imagine what a 12 inch JBL sub would do ? :) It is not only the SPL that would improve, but also the quality of the bass.

Another problem I have with the Jamo Sub 200 is the PS1-ish grey color. It seems minor but it really hurts the aesthetic on my carefully-crafted living room, lol.
I also saw an ad for a Polk PSW125 that was installed on a BenS SW-27 cabinet (effectively turning the passive sub of the latter into an active sub). Is that also a good option for nearly 8k?
-
I would pass for the mere reason that I have not heard of the BenS brand...

I want to go this route, after owning different bookshelves I believe a 2.1 system is a more flexible setup. Locally there's a Velodyne F1200 available to me which is below your budget not sure if these particular model is available in the Philippines but review says good for music. Goodluck on your search.

previously using jamo sub200. panalo yan for movies.

I once owned a Jamo SW600 (their then top of the line Denmark made unit) with a glass topped box, 2 - 10 inch drivers and externally mounted crossover/volume controller. Happy camper for several years however products from Tannoy, Velodyne, REL, Dynaudio made my Jamo sound like a one note bass box. For Movies its serviceable but for Music you can forget about it. Best to get one that will make you happy for years

Any feedback on the Polk Audio PSW110? Slightly above my budget at 10,990 brand new but I'm fine with adding a bit if it's worth it. Just to recap, not really looking for earthshattering bass since I'm in an apartment, just something to take the heat off the front channels bass-wise and is musical.
