Amazon Greenlights ‘Invincible’ Superhero Animated Series From Robert Kirkman
Amazon Studios has given an eight-episode hourlong animated series Invincible, from The Walking Dead‘s Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker and artist Ryan Ottley, based on Kirkman’s popular comic book series of the same name.
This marks the first series greenlight to come out of the overall deal Amazon Studios inked last year with Kirkman, executive producer of AMC’s The Walking Dead, which was based on his graphic novel, and companion Fear the Walking Dead, which he co-created, as well as his Skybound Entertainment. Invincible also is part of Amazon’s planned expansion into science fiction, fantasy and horror programming.
Co-created by Kirkman and Walker and based on the Skybound/Image comic, Invincible is an adult animated superhero show that revolves around Mark Grayson, a normal teenager except for the fact that his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet. Shortly after his seventeenth birthday, Mark begins to develop powers of his own and enters into his father’s tutelage. The series is described as suspenseful, action-filled, and emotion-packed, yet builds upon poignant and heartwarming moments of love, friendship, and humanity.

Invincible Animated Series Adds 6 Walking Dead Veterans To Voice Cast
Robert Kirkman’s upcoming Invincible animated series on Amazon Prime was already a reunion of The Walking Dead stars. Steven Yeun is headlining the series as Mark Grayson/Invincible, while Khary Payton joined the cast in an undisclosed voice role. Now, via Deadline, Kirkman has revealed that 6 Walking Dead veterans have also joined the show. Collectively, they will provide the voices of the Guardians of the Globe, a Justice League-like team of heroes.
During his Comic-Con@Home panel, Kirkman announced that Chad Coleman will portray Martian Man, with Sonequa Martin-Green as Green Ghost, and Michael Cudlitz as Red Rush. Lauren Cohan also lends her voice as War Woman, alongside Lennie James’ Darkwing. Ross Marquand will actually have two roles on the show: The Immortal and Aquarius.
Deadpool 2 standout Zazie Beetz will portray Mark’s ex-girlfriend, Amber Bennett; with Gillian Jacobs as Atom Eve, a superheroine who has Mark’s heart. Additionally, Seth Rogen will voice Allen the Alien, with Jason Mantzoukas as Rex Splode, and Walton Goggins as Cecil Stedman.
Mark Hamill will also have a role in the series as Art, a tailor who creates costumes for superheroes. Andrew Rannells will step into the role of William Clockweel, Mark’s best friend.

Having read the entire Invincible comic book run, me & my older son are looking forwards to this adaptation. If it adheres to the source material stories, this should be an epic, long running series.

Currently rated 96% at Rotten Tomatoes with 53 critic reviews counted. Audience Score at 95%.
Critics Consensus: With bold animation, bloody action, and an all-star cast led by the charming Steven Yeun, Invincible smartly adapts its source material without sacrificing its nuanced perspective on the price of superpowers.

I haven't read the comics so I watched this not knowing what to expect. First episode was about 35 mins of standard superhero coming of age then comes a shocking scene in the final 10 mins
Looking forward to see where this goes without spoiling myself with the comics version for now.

Some Pinoy references in episode 4. :)
-
Natapos na namin ng kids ko all 4 episodes. Natulala kami doon sa ending ng ep 1 :D
-
Is it close enough to the comics?
-
I have not started watching myself, but my son said the progression of events is much faster. which is fine given the animated series format. Looking at the episodes, each one is at around 40+ minutes, which is a good & full length, I think.
-
Natulala kami doon sa ending ng ep 1 :D
Same! Damn.
I was too busy to watch episode one straight and now i can't stop watching it na

No word yet on season 2 pala ito. Bitin.
-
Is it close enough to the comics?
Read that unlike in the comics, other Image superheroes (such as Savage Dragon or Darkhawk), will not crossover with Invincible in this animated series. Understandable given the complications of copyright matters.

Robert Kirkman Teases Some Work Being Done On Invincible Season 2
Invincible creator Robert Kirkman teases he may already be working on season 2 of his new superhero series at Amazon. The eight-episode animated program is based on Kirkman's comic book series of the same name and officially premiered to the streamer on Friday, March 26.
The first three episodes of Invincible have been a hit for Amazon. In fact, a video game adaptation is in the works. All this buzz has led to speculation regarding the possibility of more seasons being in the show's future. Kirkman talked with Collider about this exact topic, alluding that "it's entirely possible" that work was already underway on the show's second season. Kirkman said:
"The production timeline is somewhat daunting. I think that we spend a number of years developing and working on this season. As we hopefully move into season 2 and beyond, things will tighten. There's definitely a lot less designing and different things that have to happen to move into our second season. And it's entirely possible that there's already work that has been done on the second season. So I think we're in a good place to be moving forward were this show to end up being successful."

Invincible recasts Ezra Miller's role in wake of actor's controversies
Ezra Miller, the Flash and Fantastic Beasts star who became mired in controversy after a string of arrests and allegations in recent years, appears to have been quietly replaced in the second season of the Prime Video animated series Invincible.
Miller voiced D.A. Sinclair in season 1, a mad scientist who murders humans and turns them into robots dubbed ReAnimen. The villain is defeated but returns in a nightmare sequence during this week's season 2 episode, "I'm Not Going Anywhere" — but this time he's voiced by actor Eric Bauza, whose other voice credits include X-Men '97 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
