My sister is never the techie type,
anyhow, my son's GF is in Italy, had her install my VPN on her laptop,
used the USA servers, and voila, she was able to use our Disney+ account, so it does work...  ^-^

https://www.yugatech.com/news/disney-plus-to-be-priced-at-php-359-in-the-philippines/

Disney’s recently launched streaming service, Disney+, could launch in the Philippines soon with a price tag of PHP 359 a month.

We were able to get a screencap of the streaming service’s launch page that detailed its pricing in the Philippines. Our source downloaded the app from the US App Store and was prompted with the service’s pricing upon opening the app. As Disney+ has yet to roll out in the country, there’s a possibility that the pricing could change.

We’ll be on the lookout for when Disney+ arrives in the Philippines. Stay tuned.

I am able to stream but needs a reliable VPN client.

Signing up is a challenge unless you have a US issued credit card to link to.

At least this is cheaper than Netflix which is at around Php450/mo.

Only thing is, will it carry Pinoy content (like Netflix)?

What will happen to the existing Globe postpaid subscribers who have availed of the DisneyLife app?
Does it carry the same line-up as Disney+?

There's a $12.99 bundle in the US which includes ESPN+ and Hulu. This is also a good deal considering it already includes 4K, HDR, and surround sound.

I hope we get bundles here too.

^ Unfortunately, the PH is not a priority market. My guess is the official launch here will be later in 2021. In Asia, it’s only available in India (late March), with a Japan roll-out targeted even later this year. Nothing definite for the other major Asian markets.

Globally, Disney plans a progressive rollout worldwide over two years. The company provided a generalized timeline for when it'll expand the service to the world's major regions.

Disney Plus is slated to roll out in:

* Eastern Europe over the course of a year starting as early as summer 2020.
* Latin America over the course of three months starting as early as October 2020.
* Asia-Pacific over the course of two years starting anytime; a Japanese launch will happen sometime later in 2020, the company said in April.

Fuck those Indians!!!  WHY THESE CURRY-MUNCHING BASTARDS????  We speak and UNDERSTAND English better than these bhen chods!!!!

We are FILIPINOS and we will not take this GROSS INSULT and OUTRAGE lightly!!!

The only reason is that India is a very large target market. Why did Netflix offered India a more affordable price than the rest of the world. It’s the second largest in terms of population after China. Go figure.

No need for racist comments bro.

Removed previous messages (sorry for the racist language)...realised the reason why Disney+ gets a headstart in India is that they already bought local streamer Hotstar and rebranded it.

Clever.

Percy Jackson Series in Development at Disney Plus

A Percy Jackson series is currently in the early stages of development at Disney Plus.

Rick Riordan, author of the Percy Jackson book series, made the announcement Thursday in a video on Twitter alongside his wife Becky.

Rick then followed up with a statement, which reads in part, “We can’t say much more at this stage but we are very excited about the idea of a live-action series of the highest quality, following the storyline of the original Percy Jackson five-book series, starting with The Lightning Thief in season one. Rest assured that Becky & I will be involved in person in every aspect of the show.”

Haven’t tried Nord. I’m using Surfshark and no issues whatsoever.

Yes, you can’t use a local card, even with VPN activated. No luck also using Paypal. They detect that the CC paired with it is a local card.

Best bet is using iTunes to pay. I use this for my account. I just buy US iTunes credits and use my US Apple ID.

Any updates on when Disney+ will launch in the Philippines?

2022??  2023 maybe????

The good folks at the Mouse House are really SHOOTING THEMSELVES IN THE FOOT for prioritising INDIA and INDONESIA over THE PHILIPPINES!!!!!

Sure, you can't argue over the potential of ONE BILLION subscribers thanks to their purchase of the Hotstar streaming service, but AT WHAT COST?

Having to subtitle/dub in a thousand different regional dialects does not make for sound business sense when they can air it straight in English and get the Philippine market locked down!!!!

Moreover, in keeping with these countries' religious sensitivities, all mention of beef and pork would have to be censored from all content being aired over there - something that they wouldn't have to worry about if they have secured the Philippine market first and proved themselves a serious challenger to Netflix over here!!!!

India is India. Even if they spend a fortune, in dubbing or sub titles, it’s still a very HUGE market. Look at what Netflix did. They adjusted their rates for the Indian market.

The reasons you mentioned are very small compared to the potential revenue.

MCU Halloween Special in the Works at Disney+ with Latino Lead

Earlier this month, circulating rumors about Marvel Studios’ potential plans of developing a Werewolf by Night series began surfacing online, and now it seems like the blockbuster studio is indeed working on a project based on the supernatural creature from the comics. According to The Wrap, Marvel Studios is reportedly in the process of developing an MCU Halloween special for Disney+, which is expected to be led by a Latino actor.

The outlet notes that the potential MCU Halloween Special might center around the character based on Werewolf by Night, a name that was used by two different Marvel characters. The first one, which was created by Gerry Conway and Mike Ploog, was Jack Russell, who is a descendant of the Lycanthropes, shapeshifting half-human creatures who are capable of transforming at his own will, even without a full moon. Meanwhile, the second one was Jake Gomez, a Native American whose tribe has been cursed with lycanthropy.

It’s unclear whether or not, either of them will be featured in the upcoming special.

Marvel Studios is reportedly planning to start filming the MCU Halloween Special in early 2022.

Disney Plus unveils lineup for APAC region; Streaming service coming to the Philippines soon? (https://philstarlife.com/geeky/909475-could-disney-plus-be-coming-to-the-philippines-soon)

"While there’s been no specific confirmation or date regarding the availability of Disney Plus in the Philippines, the streaming service’s updated local website and expansion into the Asia Pacific region could signal that Disney Plus could be coming to our home country as well.

The website for Disney Plus Philippines (https://www.preview.disneyplus.com/en-ph) no longer explicitly says that the service is not yet available in the region.

Previously, when trying to access the streaming service's website, the page displayed the message “Sorry, Disney+ is not available in your country.” Now, the site has a "Keep Me Updated" notice instead.

The tab now asks for an email address where Disney Plus can send you a notification on updates, special offers and other information, complete with a Privacy Policy for the Philippines."

Composer Michael Giacchino to Direct Marvel’s Halloween Special

Michael Giacchino, the Oscar-winning composer behind The Batman, Up and Lost, is going where few tunesmiths have gone before: directing.

Giacchino has been tapped to direct Marvel’s untitled Halloween special, which will be gearing up later this month in Atlanta. Little is known about the project, which is sometimes referred to as Werewolf By Night, although sources say that won’t be the title by the time the special airs on Disney+ later this year.

Gael Garcia Bernal and Laura Donnelly are starring in the one-hour story, with sources believing that Bernal is playing a werewolf.

Marvel Developing 'Wonder Man' Series for Disney+

Wonder Man is the latest Marvel superhero to get the screen treatment.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton has teamed up with Andrew Guest, a writer-producer on comedies such as Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Community, to tackle a live-action series featuring the longtime Marvel character.

Development for what is being titled Wonder Man is in the early stages, but if things crackle, cameras could be rolling in 2023.

Wonder Man, real name Simon Williams, first appeared in Avengers #9 of August, 1964. Originally the character was an industrialist rival to Tony Stark, and was recruited by Baron Zemo to the early supervillain group Masters of Evil. Zemo gave Williams “ionic energy” powers that include superhuman strength, stamina, and invulnerability, and flight through the use of a jetpack. He turned hero soon after his brief affiliation with Zemo’s group.

Wonder Man’s identity is publicly known; Williams is fabulously wealthy, and he supplements his lifestyle by working as a Hollywood stuntman. Both character traits seem like areas a TV show would explore.

Ben Kingsley to Reprise MCU Role in ‘Wonder Man’ at Disney+

Ben Kingsley is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Oscar winner will reprise his role as actor Trevor Slattery in Marvel’s Wonder Man project at Disney+, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Marvel doesn’t comment on development.

The potential series, which THR revealed was in development in June, focuses on one of Marvel’s oldest characters, Simon Williams/Wonder Man.

Wonder Man will mark Kingsley’s fourth appearance in the MCU, following scene-stealing turns in 2013’s Iron Man 3, a follow-up short film and last year’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The latter’s director, Destin Daniel Cretton, is co-creator and executive producer of Wonder Man, along with head writer Andrew Guest (Brooklyn Nine-Nine).

Kingsley’s Slattery is an actor hired to portray villain The Mandarin in Iron Man 3. He then appeared in the 2014 Marvel short All Hail the King, where he was broken out of prison by a member of the Ten Rings organization before turning up again in Shang-Chi.

Disney+ celebrated its second anniversary on November 12 with 'Disney Plus Day' and announced additional upcoming animated shows for its streaming service, including:

Each 20 minute-episode puts the audience in a new character's shoes as they get ready for the biggest game of their very young lives.

Disney Pixar Announces ‘Win or Lose’, An All-New Original Series

Disney Pixar just unveiled Win or Lose - an all-new, original Pixar series.

The show is Pixar's first attempt at a long-form TV series, all about a softball team... and while it looks as though it'll have all the usual Pixar charm, it also has a deceptively simple premise:

"It’s about a team called the Pickles in the run-up to the championship game," said co-creator, Michael Yates, who developed the upcoming show alongside Carrie Hobson.

Will Forte stars as Coach Dan - the Pickles team coach who keeps this rag-tag team of misfits all together. Each week, the show will focus on an individual character, with audiences learning about them and how they might be feeling.

Win or Lose looks set to be more than just a sports show, with individual characters providing much of the emotional core of the series.

Vision Series Starring Paul Bettany In Works At Marvel Studios For Disney+

A second WandaVision spinoff series focusing on Paul Bettany’s Vision is in the works at Marvel Studios for Disney+, sources tell Deadline.

Titled Vision Quest, the potential series, which is opening a writers room next week, will be about The Vision (Bettany) trying to regain his memory and humanity. While the focus is on Vision, word is there is a possibility for Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) to appear, which would make sense given how interconnected the two characters’ stories are in the MCU.

Like with the other WandaVision spinoff, the greenlighted series Agatha: Coven of Chaos headlined by Kathryn Hahn, Vision Quest is overseen by WandaVision creator, writer and executive producer Jac Schaeffer. Reps for Marvel Studios and Bettany declined comment.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Tapped To Lead ‘Wonder Man’ Marvel Series For Disney+

Coming off of some of the best reviews of his career for his work in Broadway’s revival of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Suzan Lori Parks play Topdog/Underdog, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is preparing to move over from DC to Marvel as the lead for the studio’s Disney+ series Wonder Man.

Created by writer Stan Lee and artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby, Wonder Man was introduced to Marvel Comics in 1964 via The Avengers #9. The character otherwise known as Simon Williams is the son of the industrialist Sanford Williams and assumes control of his munitions outfit following his passing, seeing its successes limited when it comes into competition with Tony Stark’s Stark Industries. The younger Williams gains ion-based superpowers, including super strength, while working under the villainous Baron Zemo and establishing himself as an antagonist to The Avengers, though he later decides to become part of that superhero team.

The live-action Wonder Man series was first announced as entering development in June, with Shang-Chi helmer Destin Daniel Cretton and Hawkeye co-producer Andrew Guest both announcing their involvement. Cretton will direct and exec produce, with Guest serving as head writer. As previously announced, the show will see the return of Oscar winner Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery — the supervillain- turned-good guy otherwise known as The Mandarin who appeared in Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi.

Mickey: The Story of a Mouse | Official Trailer

https://youtu.be/HJ6iehLtmtY

Streaming November 18, only on Disney+.

SYNOPSIS:

One of the world’s most beloved icons, Mickey Mouse is recognized as a symbol of joy and childhood innocence in virtually every corner of the globe. Dreamed up at a low point in Walt Disney’s burgeoning career, Mickey became an overnight sensation when he starred in the first synch-sound animated short, Steamboat Willie. Through the decades that followed, the character evolved into strikingly different versions of himself that reflect both his creator’s remarkable career and dramatic societal shifts in the nation he came to represent. In the fascinating documentary Mickey: The Story Of A Mouse, director Jeff Malmberg and Oscar-winning producer Morgan Neville (who previously teamed up together for Won’t You Be My Neighbor?) examine the cultural significance of the nearly 100-year-old cartoon mouse.

Indiana Jones TV Series Eyed for Disney+

Disney is actively looking to develop an Indiana Jones TV show for Disney+, Variety has learned exclusively from sources.

The Mouse House and Lucasfilm have specifically been bringing up the possibility of a streaming show set in the world of the globe trotting archaeologist in general meetings with writers of late, sources say. They are still looking for a writer to take on the project, thus no plot details are available. Given that, it is unknown if a series would serve as a prequel to or spinoff of the film franchise, or if it would tie into the upcoming fifth Indiana Jones film, similar to how Disney has tied its Marvel shows on Disney+ into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The move to potentially develop an Indiana Jones show comes as Harrison Ford has stated he is done playing the character after the fifth film, which is due out in 2023. In addition, sources say Disney is currently exploring a number of options to keep the franchise going, which could mean a series, new films, other media, or a combination thereof.

‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special‘: How Disney+ Show Bridges Franchise To Upcoming ‘Vol. 3’

James Gunn’s The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special has finally arrived; the one-off a concept he originally developed for ABC in the wake of the release of 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

However, timing is everything, and the special arrives at a quintessential moment as Gunn is wrapping up the $1.6 billion global grossing Marvel franchise with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in theaters May 5, 2023.

“I used the holiday special as an opportunity to introduce some elements into Guardians of the Galaxy, so I didn’t have to explain them at the beginning of Volume 3,” Gunn tells Deadline. “It was a trojan horse."

Spoilers ahead...

Currently there's no way to stream Disney+ on at least 1080p on the PC. Kaka subscribe ko lang and I spent a good chunk of time yesterday to resolve the issue but no luck. Yung Disney+ app on the Microsoft store naka configure ata for other region. Tried 5 different browsers and lahat max 720p lang.

1080p will only work on Safari, pero bitin naman manood ng movies on a 13" Macbook Pro. For now I will have to make do with 720p just to watch on my PC.

Mephisto MCU Special Presentation Reportedly Being Filmed

Marvel Studios has delivered one special presentation to Disney+ so far in the form of Werewolf by Night. According to a new report, however, another could be coming, and feature the devilish character Mephisto.

The latest report comes courtesy of the latest episode of The Hot Mic podcast, with Above the Line’s Jeff Sneider noting that sources have told him that a special dedicated to Mephisto is being filmed on the set of another Disney+ series, Agatha: Coven of Chaos. To add to that, Sneider also noted that Sacha Baron Cohen would be the one playing Mephisto.

“They told me there’s a Mephisto special shooting right now on the set of [Agatha: Coven of Chaos] with Sacha Baren Cohen,” Sneider said on the podcast. “It sounds like they may be doing his very own special.”

While not too much else is known about the special, Cohen’s role as Mephisto has been rumored for a couple of months now, dating back to an early October report that he would appear in the Agatha-based spin-off. While not too much is known about his role, the insider did note that The Hood — who will be played by Anthony Ramos — will receive his magical powers from Mephisto after coming to a deal with him. In the comics, this deal was done with the cosmic entity Dormammu, who appeared in the 2016 Doctor Strange film. However, that seems to be changing a bit now to accommodate the arrival of Mephisto.

‘Willow,’ ‘Dollface’ Among Dozens of Titles Being Pulled From Disney+, Hulu in Cost-Cutting Move

Disney’s content culling from Disney+ and Hulu is coming as early as next week — with the media company pulling off at least four dozen titles, including series “Willow,” “The Mysterious Benedict Society” and “Dollface,” and movies such as “The One and Only Ivan.”

At the same time, CEO Bob Iger told investors last week that the company expects to raise the price on the ad-free Disney+ tier later this year “to better reflect the value of our content offerings.”

Disney to Take $1.5 Billion Content Write-Off Charge in June Quarter After Pulling Dozens of Titles From Streaming Services

Disney, after removing dozens of shows and movies from Disney+ and Hulu last week, said it will incur a $1.5 billion impairment charge for the June quarter.

In an SEC filing Friday, the company said that on May 26, 2023, it removed “certain produced content” from its direct-to-consumer streaming services. As a result, Disney will record a $1.5 billion impairment charge in its fiscal third quarter financial statements “to adjust the carrying value of these content assets to fair value.”

We're subscribed to Disney+ PH and the episodes of TV shows/series are on autoplay by default. This does not appear to be customizable in the app settings? You have to manually interrupt the next episode from playing automatically.

Maybe the app needs to be updated?

Maybe you can try logging out from your Disney+ account on the app and signing back in to see if that solves the problem? Or maybe the Disney+ profile you're using has parental restrictions? nung first release ng Disney+ app, hindi din available sa CCWGTV yung atmos. after several months, nag update yung app and may atmos na. nabasa ko din dati, depende nga sa android box or tv yung availability ng atmos. kasi duon sa skyworth android tv ko eh nauna magka atmos bago yung CCWGTV, tapos sa MiBox eh wala atmos.

nung first release ng Disney+ app, hindi din available sa CCWGTV yung atmos. after several months, nag update yung app and may atmos na. nabasa ko din dati, depende nga sa android box or tv yung availability ng atmos. kasi duon sa skyworth android tv ko eh nauna magka atmos bago yung CCWGTV, tapos sa MiBox eh wala atmos.

Tried reinstalling, same pa din. So.mukhang box nga. Anyway 5.1 sounds nice pa din naman. Better pa din sa mibox na 2 channel lang and no dolby support na yata.

Yup, ok pa din kahit 5.1. ganda ng audio ng Avatar: Way of Water

Any users of Disney+ PH here using Apple TV? Wala po bang hassle? Can stream 4K Dolby Vision and Atmos without hiccups? How about Netflix? Wala ring issue? Currently a Disney+ US subscriber. However, suko na ko sa SmartDNS Proxy. Di makastream ng matino. Halos parati buffering. Thanks!

I'm using Apple TV 4k the latest version. No problems whatsoever, even the menu screen is already in HDR (my TV is not Dolby Vision capable). Disney + and Netflix, and Apple TV are in 4k and Atmos capable.

Thanks, sir. Though sa ngayon, napagana ko pa yung TiVo Stream 4K ko. Streaming Disney+ PH and Netflix in DV and DA. Medyo mabagal lang UI ni TiVo.

Update, I don't know what they did but gumana na yung Atmos yesterday. Initially ayaw mag play last sat even with 5.1 (just hangs), then naayos nung gabi. Then come sunday ayaw na naman mag play nung may mga atmos. But monday morning ok na. So hopefully nag update yung app and fixed na permanently.

I just found out that the Disney+ Southeast Asia app (what we use in the Philippines) will not work in Canada and the US.

I wanted to watch Ahsoka but then the app showed this:(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230827/c5ec72945832659d579731e1daece799.jpg)

I tried logging in to the Disney+ webpage but it seems my Disney+ SEA account isn't found.

My Disney+ app in my Firestick is asking for an update but when I click it, it says “app not available”. What do I do? I can’t use the app now. Take note I just sideloaded the Disney+ PH version on my Firestick. Thank you.

^I haven't checked my firestick yet, but I guess the way to go is to sideload a more current version of Disney+ for the Phils.

right now, I guess all we can hope for is for someone to upload an updated APK which would work for firesticks in the Philippines.  I can't seem to find the FB Group for Firesticks users in the Philippines.  For some reason Disney+ is still not officially available for Firesticks here.   :(

I got it.

If you have Downloader app, use it to search for Aptoide TV app.  Once you install Aptoide TV, use it to search for Disney+ (by Disney Hotstar).  From there you should find an update option. :)

Same here. Just finished the season finale of Ahsoka and noticed the same. Had to turn my TV volume way up.

Same! I have to set my amplifier to a higher volume setting lately.

I tried on both my amp and regular tv speakers and it's really low. And yes, I was watching the Ahsoka finale.

I checked other streaming services: Netflix, YouTube, HBO... all were fine  :o   Then I checked back past Ahsoka episodes and all of them had very low volume as well when, before, that was not the case.

I checked another stream (Haunted Mansion) and, it was a bit better but I still had to raise the volume much higher than normal.

Rest assured that Becky & I will be involved in person in every aspect of the show.”

watched the first 2 episodes last night. looks promising pero kinda feel like minadali.

Maybe a discount will appear nearing the re-sub date. For those that started with the Alipay discount from the start this may come at around November.
