'Ms. Marvel' Finds Directors in Pakistani Oscar Winner, 'Bad Boys for Life' Filmmakers
Disney+'s Marvel series Ms. Marvel has assembled its directing team.
Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the duo behind this year's Bad Boys for Life, have been tapped to work on episodes of the series. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, a two-time Oscar winner in the documentary short category, has also joined the helming roster for the series, as has Meera Menon, whose credits include episodes of The Walking Dead, The Punisher, Titans, Dirty John and Outlander.
Ms. Marvel hails from head writer Bisha K. Ali and centers on Kamala Khan, a Pakistani American teen. The New Jersey-based hero broke ground in 2014 as Marvel's first Muslim character to star in her own title, and she will become Marvel Studios' first onscreen Muslim hero. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has said that in addition to appearing on the small screen, Kamala Khan will be included in future Marvel films. The studio is currently in search of an actor to play the hero, whose comics have explored her identity as a Pakistani American living in a religious family in New Jersey while trying to find her own way.

Not to brag but I'm actually friends with a friend of hers from Ontario. She and my friend are both active members of TIFF and go to a lot of TIFF screenings.

‘Ms. Marvel’ Adds Laurel Marsden As Zoe Zimmer
Laurel Marsden, who starred in Quibi’s Survive, will play Zoe Zimmer in Disney+’s upcoming Marvel series Ms. Marvel, Deadline has confirmed. The series follows teenage hero Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani).
Zimmer is something of frenemy to Ms. Marvel; a popular girl at Coles Academic High, the superhero first saves her in the Hudson River. Zimmer dates the school’s ‘it’ athlete Josh Richardson. The character made her debut in 2014’s Ms. Marvel No. 3 from scribe G. Willow Wilson and artist Adrian Alphona.

Ms. Marvel Release Date Reportedly Pushed Back to 2022
Following the official announcement of Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye premiere date, many are speculating that the original 2021 release date for Ms. Marvel might have already been delayed due to the Jeremy Renner-led Disney+ series’ late Fall debut. According to TVLine, this might indeed be the case for the Iman Vellani-led Marvel Cinematic Universe series. Originally slated for a fall 2021 release, Ms. Marvel is now reportedly on track to make its long-awaited Disney+ debut in early 2022.

Cute show. Pang-teenagers yung mga colorful visual effects that remind me of The Mitchells vs the Machines.
-
Have not started on this yet, but read that the first episode has a mid-credits scene.
-
good first episode, looks promising. for me, yung effects eh parang yung Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse movie.

watching this so far it seems her origin has been modified but parallel to what is in the comics

Watched the first two episodes. I like the colorfully upbeat and comic-booky background visuals. The lead character of Kamala Khan may not be wholly original in concept, but Iman Vellani does play her with winsome charm. I never followed the Ms. Marvel comics so I don't know how this compares, but the series is so far, so good for me.

The directing of the 4th episode feels so disjointed
-
after watching na episode 1, di ko na tinuloy.. parang di ata na hype to? panget ba? parang tinamad ako sundan eh
-
pangit nga, pinapanuod ko lang for the continuity since mahilig si marvel na konektado yung mga palabas nila.
-
since wala mapanood, nag tiyaga ako dito.. panget! parang di swak ang bolywood style sa marvel.. masyadong pambata

This official episode recap for the Ms. Marvel series finale (last paragraph) sort of explains what happened in the post-credit scene. Not clear whether Kamala switched places with Carol Danvers or if Kamala shape-shifted. Spoiler warning:

Started out promising for me, but the overall series was somewhat underwhelming.
-
I only watched until episode 2. Lagi ko nakakatulugan. Guess I got bored. Will just continue this later na lang.
-
me too, didn't push thru, just didn't get into my system like the other Marvel shows
-
First episode di ko rin tinapos

this series really sucks, i mean pinipilit ko talaga sarili ko to watch it but di ko talaga matapos tapos each episode
-
But it has 98% approval rating from RT...I guess it's not for everyone's taste. Pinilit kong hanapan ng rason para magustuhan 'tong series na 'to pero wala talaga.
-
My opinion is it's one of the best series that Marvel has put out on TV. As a friend put it, it has a YA element to it and no other thing that Marvel has put out features elements of family and deeply rooted culture other than this show.
Iman Vellani is perfect in her role as Kamala Khan, and that superhero costume is *French kiss*

Metacritic has it at 78% with a user score of 4.1 (of 10), so mukhang maskapareho naman ang user score sa pdvd inputs.
