WEDNESDAY - Addams Family live-action series
The series will chart the titular heroine’s years as a student at the peculiar Nevermore Academy as she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, while also thwarting a monstrous killing spree terrorizing the local town and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships of the strange and diverse student body.
Wednesday is an 8-episode series described as a coming-of-age comedy that will be a sleuthing, supernaturally-infused mystery. The live-action series will be led by Jenna Ortega in her major TV project as the titular lead along with Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, and George Burcea as Lurch.
In addition, Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Christina Ricci is also set to appear as an entirely new character. She famously portrayed Wednesday Addams in the early 90s.
Joining them are Hunter Doohan, Georgie Farmer, Moosa Mostafa, Emmy Myers, Naomi J. Ogawa, Joy Sunday, and Percy Hynes White, who have been tapped to portray Nevermore Academy’s supernatural students. Meanwhile, Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, and Jamie McShane have been cast as members of Nevermore Academy’s faculty, with Christie set to play Principal Larissa Weems, Morticia’s former classmate who still has an axe to grind.
Wednesday is executive produced and directed by Tim Burton in his television directorial debut.

During pre-production on the 1991 film, Tim Burton was assigned to direct, but ended up passing on it due to scheduling conflicts with Batman Returns, resulting in Barry Sonnenfeld taking the job.

The original animated Gomez isn't really good-looking nor tall which is a deliberate image opposite to Morticia, so the intention here is really to make him look more like the original and not like the more popular Raul Julia - who played Gomez in the more popular film versions we grew up with, who's also suave and of average height and setting the contemporary standard.

Netflix’s “Wednesday” arrived with a bang. The fantasy series starring Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams tops the Netflix Top 10 chart for the week of Nov. 21-27 with 341.2 million hours viewed following its Nov. 23 premiere.
According to Netflix’s data, figures show over 50 million households have seen the series since its premiere, making it the record holder for the most hours viewed in a week for an English-language TV series on Netflix. “Stranger Things” Season 4 previously held the record with 335.01 million hours viewed, which was counted during the week of May 30 – June 5.

The eight-episode first season of the series centered on the titular “Addams Family” character originally debuted on Nov. 23. ‘Wednesday’ Spinoff with Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester in Early Development at Netflix
While Netflix awaits Season 2 of its breakout hit “Wednesday,” the latest adaptation of the “Addams Family” franchise, it is already eyeing a way to expand that universe. Variety has confirmed that Netflix and producer MGM Television are indeed aiming to spin off “Wednesday” to focus on Uncle Fester.
Armisen’s casting was a surprise when it was first revealed in October 2022 during a trailer teaser drop. He joined the Addams family that also included star Jenna Ortega (Wednesday Addams), as well as Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams.
Armisen first rose to prominence via his sketch comedy roles in “Saturday Night Live” and “Portlandia”; in recent years his TV appearances have included “Barry,” “History of the World, Part II,” “Unstable,” “What We Do in the Shadows,” “The Kids in the Hall,” “Our Flag Means Death,” “Schmigadoon,” “Moonbase 8” and “Shrull.” He also co-created and starred in “Los Espookys.”
