I will admit it. I have not bought a Smart TV yet. My wife has been asking me to get one for years already. I could be one of the last hold outs. Been okay with my older Dumb HD tv's and a streaming box and computer. I mainly use Netflix, YouTube, sports and news viewing apps utilizing a VPN. I am not a gamer. My viewing distance is between 11-13 feet so I will start my search again looking for a 65 to 75 inch. I am looking for a Google TV so I believe I am limiting myself to Sony, Sharp, TCL and Hisense. I was at Ansons and saw some very nice TV's. Sony was the best but as always much more expensive. But from my personal experience, for the most part, with various products I have owned previously, Sony always delivers on quality, reliability and after sales service. I have no experience with TCL and Hisense. Actually I am wrong. I bought a very small TCL analog TV about 25 years ago. It lasted 4 ever and eventually gave it away. I have also owned Sharp products and must admit they too were fairly reliable. At this stage My budget will be 50 -65K give or take.
I do have concerns about reliability of Hisense as well as TCL as I am hearing about technical issues as warranty runs out.
I will be browsing the various threads for info but would appreciate your input and opinions on these 4 brands and recommendations on specific models. Thanx for reading and playing.

from sony.ph website:
sony latest, x90 with suffix L, is very pricey.
their prior model x90 K, 65" and 75" is still way above your budget.
with a lesser features but definitely enjoyable tv is x80K and the price is 55k for 65" and 89k for 75". big difference in price? yes but 75" is really a big big tv.
check prices in abenson, anson's, etc.. i saw cheaper prices in lazada but im not familiar or have not tried buying appliances there.. got my 55 oled at abenson 😁. it is an LG btw
-
Thanx for your feedback. LG PQ is sweet as is Samsung. My budget is tight. I am in no rush.

Hi. Went to Ansons and Abensons. Same exact price for various Sony units. Need to do some research as some 65 inch slightly above and some below 50K.

You can haggle the price on both store, the manager decides

You're really better off with a higher spec dumb TV, then just add the latest Chromecast with Google TV. Longer firmware and security patch support.
Sorry if my comment doesn't help your use case though.

Honestly the only TV's worth getting these days that are not OLED or QLED are the ones with local dimming, or, if budget permits, full array local dimming.
A good example is the FALD Sony X90j from 2021. It's probably on clearance these days so you can perhaps get a cheap-ish unit. The X85J and X85K are not FALD but do have local dimming and are already WCG-capable; HDR performance is decent. The 2023 "L" models are still SRP so you might want to wait until after Xmas.
HiSense have models with local dimming but I'm not sure what sort of aftersales support to expect. Skyworth too. Sharp still have some made in Japan units but these are using LG panels from before the pandemic which are so-so in today's standards.
LG's that aren't OLED are typically overpriced (i.e. the QNED line) and you also get an OS with far fewer apps. It may have the app you want but not function well (i.e. NBA) and/or might be a bit behind on updates.
For QLEDs, TCL will be THE bang-for-the-buck option with Samsung a high-risk one because of the one year warranty.
If budget permits, go for the X90 or X85 Sonys. If you want a huge size (65"-75") with a QLED panel and a decent price, get a TCL.

Thanks for the heads up. I was checking out the Sony 2022 and 2023 units.
65X75K ......44K peso
X80L.....55K peso
X90K ........70K peso

The X80 and X75 are not worth it, imho, but the X85 and X90 are. I would rather get a TCL QLED over the X80 as the PQ is visibly superior but with a lower price. As for the X75, I would rather get the Xiaomi P1, which has a far higher color accuracy rating and can do 60Hz.

Verbl....Thank you for your feedback...It makes sense. And the cost is very competitive.
This looks very interesting. Abenson has a quality Birthday promotion on this with Free Gear.
TCL LED-65C646 65in QLED

How is the reliability TCL?
In your opinion What Sony Model would compare to the SPRCS of that TCL?

The C645 is a 2023 model, it doesn't have local dimming but it is a QLED Samsung panel with HDMI 2.1. I'd slot it in between the X80 and X85 offerings Sony.

Hi Verbal. Thank you again for your continued efforts. You be Dah Man!!!!
I went to Abenson's again. I went to check out a few units. First on the list was the TCL QLED 65C646 very much the same as the C645 but this is exclusive to Abenson. Priced at 39,999 only......Plus Free....Wall bracket and Sound Bar and a 500 peso discount for other TCL products.
https://www.abenson.com/tcl-qled-65c646.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjw756lBhDMARIsAEI0AgnjWVlTc1n44j2icvAbUfaMuI9VaA0GT4jBz7W8W7b8t5KxMfl72WMaAsEOEALw_wcB
Free soundbar with Wireless subwoofer. https://www.abenson.com/tcl-s522w.html
I was impressed with this unit and the QLED tech. Larger than life color and PQ was very good. Definitely value for the money. Built in speakers were not great sounding hence the sound bar giveaway. Unfortunately the sound bar was also not very good. Regardless of that this deal is appealing and I am tempted. And for gamers this unite is 120 HZ.
Next I checked out the TCL 4K HDR P735 75 inch. Free wall bracket and same Sound bar with wireless Sub. for 47,995 only. Impressive unit with good PQ. Built in speakers were better than the C646. This PQ was good but a step down from the C646 and is only 60 Hz. Having said that this was also good bang for the buck for a 75 incher.
https://www.abenson.com/tcl-uhd-75p735.html
Next up was the Sharp Aquos line. The C70DK1X....a 70 inch screen. Good PQ and good sound. Did not have Google TV.....some freebies also......but without google TV I pass. The top of the line Sharp 65 incher was very nice with a fine PQ and good sound..........but also too expensive. so I gave it a pass.
LastlyI checked out the Sony UHD KD X85L 2023 latest addition? .....it was 64,999....no freebies. Loved the natural and realistic PQ and color. Smooth as silk in every way. Do not know if anyone will appreciate this comment but it reminded me of the realism of a great plasma and then some more and more. I was very impressed. Dealer, after chatting with the manager, gave me an additional discount for straight cash of 59,900.
https://www.abenson.com/sony-uhd-kd-65x85l.html
I got a lot to consider.

Saw 1 post in fb selling the 65in for 36k (with soundbar). For the 55in, lowest i saw was 28k, without the soundbar. Looks like the prices are going down. That 65in is really tempting.

65 inch for 36K is very attractive........But....... Verbl hit the nail on the head....The Sony 65X85L. Advertised at 64K but cash deal at Ansons for 59K. Silky smooth. And a step up is the 65X90L with an upgraded processor for 64K. Sony is no baloney if budget is not an issue. I am in no rush to buy as my Panny 42PV80H is still rocking harder.

I think X85L na yata ngayong 2023. The X85K is a 2022 model but still a really good TV.
Kung nasa 5k lang difference between X85L and X90L I would go with the latter as it has full array local dimming, may difference talaga sa PQ, lalo na pag HDR.

Check dannielsimone's posts above. ;)

If a model has been out for some time, it's good practice to google "model" - issue, problem. I have one large screen sony in the house that has a known panel defect.

why not go all in and get an OLED?

-
Guys.. A Youtuber has broken down the current Sony Line of TV based on features. It is a MUST WATCH and you will walk away with a greater understanding in fact you will know as much or more then then most salesman.

forgot to mention pala, it's a 55-inch TV kaya for me it's a good value for money na. good thing may 2-yr warranty kaya medyo panatag luob ko for the next 2 years. I've read a lot naman about the quality of TCL pero minsan kasi tsambahan din like yung previous japanese brand TVs ko na nasira in less than 4 years. I'll gamble my 25k on this hehe.
over the weekend I've watched multiple Dolby Vision/HDR10+ movies and tv series, and I'm really enjoying the video quality. iba talaga and DV and HDR10+, although I can only compare it to my other non-DV 4K TVs (Samsung & Skyworth). worth it talaga yung upgrade.
sorry I'm not much of a reviewer hehe but if you have questions, you can ask it here

Good value for money for a 55 inch. And yes 2 year warranty will let you sleep well.......for a few years. .....But do not worry because a few years from now a new a 65-70 inch unit with AI features will be well under 25K. :)
