I know what you mean.  I've called the attention of E Philippines about this, they said they'll uh see what they can do.

In the meantime...

Jungle Jack Hannah with a Shingle-backed Skink.  And a reptile the name of which escapes me at the moment. Bada bing! ;D;D;D

Wednesday's episode (aired Thursday here) was great.  It was a lot of fun.

I've always thought Charlize Theron, very beautiful, was bland and dull.  I was surprised that she's quite charming and bubbly.

The sex therapist Sue Johanson part was quite hilarious.  I didn't think she would be that straightforward and I ended up blushing, giggling, and laughing out loud.  I especially liked the story she told about one of the callers on her show.  The caller asked her if it was okay to use peanut butter (with the jar) for self-gratification.  One of the show's directors/producers said to her, through her earphone, "ask him if it's smooth or crunchy."  ;D

i've been having a hard time catching Letterman at 9:30. super alanganin naman ng oras! i mean there's a reason why it's called The Late Show -- it's not supposed to be on primetime. i hope E will bring it back to its original timeslot.

i miss dave.

I didn't quite catch the name on the box. What was it?

Yes, Charlize Theron was surprisingly witty and chatty compared to the last time she was there.

The box used to contain tampons.  It said something like "20 Packs Tampons".  It was Dave who noticed it, and Jungle Jack was irked.  He said somebody from his staff's gonna pay for it.  Nyuknyuknyuk.

I read from the Wahoo Gazette that Calvert deForest made a walk through in one of this week's shows.  Glad he's still alive.  Mad I missed it. Darn this new timeslot.

All new this week!

Monday, May 5
Kelly Ripa
Good Charlotte
Survivor Castoff Christy Smith

Tuesday, May 6
Stupid Human Tricks
Hugh Jackman (X2: X-Men United)
Kelly Clarkson

Wednesday, May 7
David Hyde Pierce (Frasier)
Rube Goldberg Contest Winners
Sitting-in with the Band, Ziggy Marley

Thursday, May 8
Megan Mullally (Will & Grace)
Marilyn Manson

Friday, May 9
Albert Brooks (The In-Laws)
The Libertines

I didn't know Marilyn Manson was still alive.

Hey, Ziggy Marley.  It's not that often we hear the CBS orchestra doing reggae.

Megan Mullally will be the first guest-host to come back as guest.  Likely she'll talk about the ordeal.  Maybe Dave will make her sing.

The Parade of Losers continues.  Do we still care?  Did we before? What happened to the American Idol version? What's Kelly Clarkson doing here?

Never saw Albert Brooks with Dave before.  The match up looks fun though.

Yep. Tuesday to Saturday. 9 pm. Same-day delayed telecast.  We used to get Dave at 10:00 pm PLUS Live Via Satellite broadcast at 1:00 in the afternoon, before E Philippines reprogrammed.  I don't mind not having the afternoon show anymore but I hope they at least move Dave back to 10:00 pm .  The current time slot is too crowded with prime-time shows on other channels as it is.

No replays nowadays.  There was a time when E replayed Friday's (aired here Saturday) show on Monday. Imagine having Dave 12 times a week then.  Now it's down to five.  And dang that new time slot.  I keep missing episodes! Arrrgh!

I love this show! It's where I first saw and heard John Mayer perform.

HBO made a TV movie about the story behind the Jay Leno/Dave Letterman rivalry after Johnny Carson retired, anybody saw this? I forgot the title.

But I like Conan's show specially the insult comic dog.

The HBO movie was entitled The Late Shift, and it was based on a book written by a reporter from the NY Times.

The book/movie was very controversial when they were released. Helen Kushner (the Kathy Bates character) filed cases against the author of the book, but she died before the film was made. I understand that Letterman was also particularly incensed by the film. Letterman's public criticisms were confined to the "bad acting" on the part of the actor who played him, but I think the film touched a raw nerve regarding the invasion of his privacy.

Incidentally, I have read somewhere that in some showings, the epilogue of The Late Shift was not shown at all. Which actually defeats the purpose of the film. The epilogue of The Late Shift is one of the saddest, and most mordantly wicked endings of any movie I have ever seen, and a lot of that movie's kick comes from that ending.

Please tell us how it ended, gurang. I'm not sure if the version I saw had the ending you describe.
Title: Re:The DAVID LETTERMAN Thread

Please tell us how it ended, gurang. I'm not sure if the version I saw had the ending you describe.

The ending I'm referring to is the epilogue. After Dave has been signed by CBS, there is a shot of Warren Littlefield of NBC, expressing hope that they did the right thing by sticking with Leno. Then the epilogue begins. It starts out by noting that The Late Show debuts on CBS to record ratings, then consistently beats The Tonight Show in the weekly ratings. But the next slide adds the caveat: ...until the day Jay Leno guested Hugh Grant, fresh from the Divine Brown scandal. Since then, The Tonight Show has beaten The Late Show consistently in the ratings." (or words to the effect). A series of slides then pictures various CBS executives (portrayed in the film as having masterfully negotiated to steal Dave away from NBC), with captions pointing out how each subsequently either resigned or was fired from CBS. The last slide then shows NBC's Warren Littlefield (portrayed as a putz in the film), with the caption, "Warren Littlefield, to this day, remains head of programming at NBC".

This epilogue works so well because it runs so contrary to how the film had been building up until before this epilogue. I also consider it doubly tragic, considering how much I worship Dave and am allergic to Leno. Deleting this ending (as it had allegedly been done) removes the ironic twist in the tale.

I just wish the producers gag Paul Schaefer because he is sooooo not funny. It's a good thing Dave knows how to pick up from this guy's poor comedic abilities.

speaking of sidekicks, andy was my favorite  ;D
Title: Re:The DAVID LETTERMAN Thread
Post by: JdelaCruz on May 09, 2003 at 12:53 PM
true, paul sometimes falls a little short delivering the yukyuks but as a musical director he's miles ahead of the competition.  to quote dave, day in and day out, the best part of the show is listening to paul and the band.

and notice how when guests are introduced paul plays them in with some song that's sort of connected to the guest in some way.  example - jungle jack hannah -- 'house of the rising sun' by the animals.

plus, he wrote 'it's raining men'! -- there you go.

i hear during commercial breaks the band really takes control and play like they're in concert in some stadium.

speaking of the band, did you guys catch ziggy marley play with them last night?  man that was awesome! and i have to agree with dave, his voice is this close to his old man's.  it's like he's still alive.  if a new compilation of late show music comes up, i bet this ziggy performance would be in it. you heard it here first.

I like Paul. I understand though why many people don't get him. It's also quite difficult to explain why I do.

When Dave started out with the post-Tonight Show time slot at NBC (the spot Conan holds right now), he sought out to make the "anti-talk show", a concept that was fresh way back then. He was notorious then for his refusal to kiss celebrity ass, for being openly contentious with his celebrity guests or forcing them to do decidedly un-showbiz things. That was the new gimmick then, and it worked. However, for the choice of a sidekick, Dave decided to go way over to the other side and get somebody who'd represent showbiz to the extreme. Paul Schaffer was that someone. Overly glitzy, fawning, vaguely effeminate, somebody who'd exude showbiz by his very look, walk and talk. The match-up was decidedly uncomplementary, but the humor derived out of the pairing arose from the incongruity of the match.

I think the contrast became more muted as Dave took over the earlier time slot and mellowed. However, it is still there. I find Paul funny because he seems perpetually out of the loop, apt to say things that are neither here or there, or painfully obvious. It is because he doesn't jibe right with the proceedings that I find him funny. Some people find this sort of incongruity funny, and some don't, and it is not a question of better taste, but different taste.

I think Max Weinberg, to an extent, also employs that sense that he does not belong to eke out humor. But in Max's case, he projects an aura of contempt, that doing this talk show is beneath him. That's why Max segments are often more pointed (and funnier, IMHO) than any other sidekick segments.

And Kevin Eubanks of the Tonight Show has no personality, just like Leno. It is a case of the bland leading the bland.

Hey sungit serious doubts on a replay.  But if you want another look, and for those of you who missed it, I'm sure it will be up on the website soon.  I'll post the link.

Dave's got the babes this week. Renee's first appearance since Chicago. Jada Pinkett Smith is always fun and is a friend of the show courtesy of Will.  Leno got Keanu last week, Dave's got Jada this week, wonder if Carrie Ann Moss will be doing the rounds for Matrix.

Expect some additions to the lineup as the week goes by.

hey sungit, hey pipols, looks like we have graver reason to call E!Philippines.

inquirer (entertainment section, page A32) reports that E!Philippines might be closing down by the end of the month, although the same article quotes an RMN executive that the closure will be temporary, as they will in fact be going to hollywood on their annual program buying trip to scout for new programs for local airing.  plus, the E! franchise is going to expire.

there's a picture of Dave and a related article at the bottom titled 'Save E! Philippines.'  Dave has a strong following here -- that much comes across and we hope it reaches RMN management.

I hope to God they don't let go of Letterman!  Perhaps they can drop the E! franchise, go back to being "CTV31", air a few noteworthy E! programs and other stuff, and STILL AIR DAVE!

let's keep our fingers crossed and let our voices be heard.  call E! and give them feedback. won't hurt eh?

I understand that E! Philippines phone numbers are 813-8488/89. Can somebody else provide a mailing address? Snail and e-mail.

I think it would be fairly convenient for most of us to e-mail or call E! as an expression of support, and to let them know that the Dave fanbase is a sizeable, vocal group. However, I think it will impact E! Philippines more if a "more pain-staking" effort can be organized by the fans. How feasible would it be organize and collect actual signatures to petition E! Philippines to ensure that Letterman return (or never leave)?

Or, another alternative would be to purchase a sizeable (half-page to whole page) newspaper ad space. Perhaps this effort can be complemented by an exhortation that readers clip the ad and mail a copy of the same to E! Philippines.

If a visible fan effort is mounted, then E! Philippines may be assured to retain Dave. Or, in the alternative that E! will be incapable of retaining Dave, such effort may convince another station (such as Studio 23) that airing Dave is a worthwhile investment.

Organized fan action helped ensure the survival of such shows as Star Trek, MST3K, NewsRadio, and several others. We already lost Conan, and I sure as well won't accept losing Dave without putting up a fight.

Here's  the article:

 TOO 'HIGH-END'
E! Philippines closure
'temporary': RMN execs

Posted: 10:29 PM (Manila Time) | May 13, 2003
By Marinel R. Cruz
Inquirer News Service

OFFICIALS of E! Entertainment Television Philippines will make their annual trip to Hollywood tomorrow, Thursday, to look for new and better programs to beef up its programming, dispelling rumors that the local E! franchise would soon close shop.

But E! Philippines insiders say the franchise would actually shut down at the end of the month.

According to an E! Philippines executive, the group will leave for Los Angeles to join television executives from all over the world in a week-long conference where they will view the pilot episodes of US TV shows.

"This is a yearly thing," the Filipino executive told the Inquirer in a telephone interview. "We're seriously looking into how we could reprogram."

The executive, however, asked not to be identified.

Rumors that E! Philippines, which airs on UHF Channel 31, would permanently shut down started going around after the channel announced that it would soon go off the air after airing its final show-"Wild On! Philippines"-on May 31.

"It is not a permanent closure," the executive insisted. "It is only a temporary thing while officials consider regrouping to improve the channel."

The station has not made a formal announcement as to why E! Philippines would be off the air indefinitely, but the E! executive cited the lack of support of advertisers as the major cause of the "temporary closure."

"A lot of advertisers claim that the programs on E! are too high-end and that they could not afford to advertise," the executive said. "But we also have to consider the fact that times have been tough on most people, with the Southeast Asian economic crisis and all."

E! Entertainment is also seen on Channel 16 on Home Cable, Channel 64 on Destiny Cable, and Channel 75 on SkyCable. It began its 24-hour broadcast last year.

E! Entertainment Television, the biggest producer of entertainment-based programming in the US, formed an alliance with Radio Mindanao Network (RMN), the country's largest radio network, in 2000 to create E! Philippines.

RMN used to air E! programs on its old CTV 31 channel.

I think the article underscores the need to organize as public and visible an effort as possible in order to Save Dave in the Philippines. The more visible the effort, the more convinced advertisers may become that investing in Letterman is a viable investment. And an advertiser worth salt would realize how smart a PR move it would be to position itself to a consumerist demographic as the saviour of David Letterman.

But first, they all have to know we are out there!!!

last night's show was a riot.  especially that biff henderson bit where he went looking for celebrity look-alikes.  i particularly liked his own look-alike.  of course Dave had his.

and the Sean Hayes interview was great. came prepared and cracked Dave up. Dave ain't that comfy with the gay guests except for Elen DeGeneris and him Sean Hayes (blame his Muncie roots, remember his off-put expression when Gandalf guested and casually mentioned his partner named Bruce or some he-man sounding name?) .

was it me or did that Avril Lavigne suck?

btw, i called E! and spoke to someone.  she says Dave's one of the shows that's going to be back but what does she know.  i asked for an email address and it bounced back -- will post a valid address once i get it.

ps. last night's words of wisdom:

"When I spit at my mother, bad things happen."

Re-runs this week:

Monday, May 26
(Original Air Date: 4/30/03)
Charlize Theron
Sex therapist, Sue Johanson
Minus 5 and Wilco

Tuesday, May 27
(Original Air Date: 4/28/03)

Survivor castaway, Alex Bell

Wednesday, May 28
(Original Air Date: 4/16/03)
Michael Douglas
Todd Rundgren

Thursday, May 29
(Original Air Date: 5/6/03)
Stupid Human Tricks
Hugh Jackman
Kelly Clarkson

Friday, May 30
(Original Air Date: 5/2/03)
Halle Berry
Don Rickles

The May Sweeps is over but the shows are from that period.  Second chance to view them folks for those who missed it.

Highlights:

Sue Johanson:  Dave gets flustered with all the frank sex talk.  He gets to say 'intercourse' and nearly regrets it.

Jungle Jack Hannah: Dave notices the box used to contain one of the animals is a box for tampons. Hilarity ensues.

Michael Douglas does Kirk Douglas impressions. And Todd Rundgren sings "Hello Its Me." -- wow! That's worth the price of a ticket right there.

A truly disgusting Stupid Human Trick from a Stupid Human.  Hugh Jackman does his own -- his eyes vibrates.  In the end, through the magic of technology, the two are merged.  Makes a lasting imprint.

Halle Berry highlight -- Halle Berry.  Plus Don Rickles not making sense.

Is this the last we see of Dave on these shores before E! folds up?  I hope not!  Not a farewell in reruns!

Your email has been faxed to Lito Cruz and I am sure your suggestions will be taken into cognizance.

Thank you very much for your email and warm regards.

funny, my "email has been faxed to Lito Cruz."  pretty efficient dont ya think  ;) no wonder they're going under!

one thing we'll have to figure out first is what are the terms and conditions of the contract between CTV31 and CBS. If CTV 31 still owns the rights to CBS, then there will be no other way but to convince CTV 31 to sell these rights to ABS. If CTV 31 still plans to reopen, I doubt they'll refuse to sell these rights. But if CTV is in the process of just recouping its losses, it might be able to peddle a deal.

To anybody from CTV out there, please seriously consider selling the rights to the Letterman show to another local station, if you don't have any definite plans to reopen. I am certain you will get a good price for it.

Julia Roberts was on Friday, but this news stole the show:

From the Chicago Sun Times:

Will Oprah's invitation put an end to Letterman feud?
December 13, 2003

BY PHIL ROSENTHAL TELEVISION CRITIC

Now it's Oprah Winfrey's turn to make David Letterman squirm.

Saying he's worried Winfrey will make him "break down and sob like a little girl," Letterman is weighing an invitation to come to Chicago to visit one of his favorite punch lines on her own turf.

Letterman revealed the offer to appear on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" on Friday's telecast of CBS' "Late Show With David Letterman," and a spokeswoman for Winfrey confirmed the invite. It's the latest salvo in the apparent show-biz feud between the talk-show titans.

"So what we're hearing now is that Oprah no longer hates me," Letterman said during Thursday's taping.

Winfrey told Time magazine in its Dec. 15 issue that she won't go on Letterman's late-night show because she's been "completely uncomfortable" as "the butt of his jokes" in previous appearances.

Letterman baited her again this week, proposing she come on his show for an "hour of healing" he mockingly dubbed "the Super Bowl of Love." Winfrey protege Dr. Phil McGraw supposedly would "come out first and straighten me out, because the problem is me," Letterman said. "I have an attitude problem. There is something wrong with me. And then, when he feels it's safe, Oprah will come out ... and then the love will explode. ... Oprah and I will embrace. Oprah and I will kiss."

So Winfrey got wise and put Letterman on the spot with her own offer. Letterman has not yet accepted.

"While I'm gratified on the one hand, I'm a little concerned about this," Letterman, who has agreed to only a handful of TV and print interviews in the last seven years, told bandleader Paul Shaffer. "It can't possibly happen because that would screw up the Super Bowl of Love.

"Because here's what would happen: I would go on the 'Oprah' show, and I would break down and sob like a little girl. ... I don't want to have that happen. I'd feel ridiculous. I'd never be able to live that down, that Oprah would make me sob, Oprah handing me a tissue."

Back in late 2001 and early 2002, Letterman had a nightly routine in which he made sport of claiming he wanted to be booked on Winfrey's show. She ignored his on-air pleas.

Over the years, Letterman has had fun with everything from Winfrey's weight to her O magazine to her film "Beloved." A running "Late Show" gag is to have two stagehands perform deadpan readings of transcripts from Winfrey's syndicated daytime show.

Letterman's ill-fated 1995 turn as host of the Academy Awards is remembered largely for the way his "Oprah-Uma, Uma-Oprah" introduction of Winfrey to actress Uma Thurman bombed. But he has suggested on-air, perhaps apocryphally, that the relationship between him and Winfrey soured years ago when he stuck Winfrey with his lunch tab at a posh Barbados resort.

Winfrey went so far as to fly to Los Angeles to visit the rival "Tonight Show With Jay Leno" in 1996, when Letterman's "Late Show" was originating from Chicago. Winfrey, however, extended an olive branch of sorts with a gift of children's books for Letterman's newborn son just last month.

The birth of Harry Letterman has seemed to change the first-time father, warmed him up and made him more open and vulnerable on the air as he answers questions about his personal life from guests such as Madonna, Howard Stern and, on Friday, Julia Roberts.

Winfrey wants her shot at him now. It's put up or shut up time for Letterman, all joking aside.

--end--

Paging Studio 23!!![/i].  The coolness factor on your station will be multiplied a million-fold if you start broadcasting The Late Show.  Two puny little UHF channels could do it before -- CTV 31 and SBN 21 before that -- surely you could too!  It's actually a mystery why you haven't picked it up up to now.

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - Former President Bill Clinton (news - web sites)'s appearance Tuesday night vaulted "Late Show with David Letterman" to a rare win against "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."

Nielsen Media Research data showed Letterman delivered a 5.2 rating/12 share among households in the top 56 "metered" markets, slightly higher than the 4.8/11 for Leno. It was the highest rating for Letterman since March 29, when Janet Jackson (news)'s guest appearance helped it deliver a 5.5/12.

A parody I just got in my email. Sorry if it's old, but I haven't seen it before:

Letterman's Top Ten Reasons Why There Could Never Be a Filipino-American U.S. President:

10. White House is not big enough for in-laws and extended relatives.

9. Not enough parking spaces at the White House for 2 Honda Civics, Toyota Celica, 1985 Mercedes Benz Diesel, BMW (Big Mean Wife) and MPV (My Pinoy Van).

8. Dignitaries are generally intimidated by eating with their fingers at State dinners.

7. Too many dining rooms in the White House - where will they put the Last Supper picture? You have to have a Last Supper Picture somehow.

6. White House walls are not big enough to hold giant wooden spoon and giant wooden fork.

5. Secret Service Staff won't respond to "psssst, psssst."

4. Secret Service Staff are uncomfortable driving Presidential Car with Rosary hanging on the rear view mirror or the statuette of Santo Nino on the dashboard.

3. No budget allocation to purchase karaoke machines in every White House room.

2. State Dinner do not allow "Take Home."

AND THE NUMBER ONE REASON:

1. AIR FORCE ONE does not allow overweight Balikbayan Boxes.

Kerry Does 'Top Ten' on Letterman Show
Mon Sep 20,11:51 PM ET

By NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press Writer

NEW YORK - Democrat John Kerry joked Monday on "The Late Show with David Letterman" about changes under President Bush's tax plan, including that Vice President **** Cheney can claim the president as a dependent.

Besides reading his "Top 10" list, Kerry also poked fun at the tedious debate negotiations between the rival campaigns that ended in agreement Monday. Kerry said he wanted running mate John Edwards to stand in the vice presidential debate, but Cheney wanted to sit. "We compromised and now George Bush is going to sit on **** Cheney's lap," he said.

Both Bush and Democratic rival Al Gore appeared on the CBS show in 2000. Bush has not appeared on any late-night comedy shows in this campaign. Kerry also has appeared on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on NBC.

Kerry's "Top 10 Bush Tax Proposals" are:

10. No estate tax for families with at least two U.S. presidents.

9. W-2 Form is now Dubya-2 Form.

8. Under the simplified tax code, your refund check goes directly to Halliburton.

7. The reduced earned income tax credit is so unfair, it just makes me want to tear out my lustrous, finely groomed hair.

6. Attorney General (John) Ashcroft gets to write off the entire U.S. Constitution.

5. Texas Rangers can take a business loss for trading Sammy Sosa.

4. Eliminate all income taxes; just ask Teresa (Heinz Kerry) to cover the whole damn thing.

3. Cheney can claim Bush as a dependent.

2. Hundred-dollar penalty if you pronounce it "nuclear" instead of "nucular."

1. George W. Bush gets a deduction for mortgaging our entire future.

During Kerry's trip to New York, he also delivered a speech laying out his vision for Iraq and raised $4 million at reception and dinner benefiting the Democratic National Committee.

He planned another television appearance Tuesday morning — on "Live with Regis and Kelly."

A "political ad" on the Late Show, right after the first Kerry-Bush debate:

“Last week, Senator Kerry was eight points behind President Bush. Today, he is three points ahead. Is this the kind of indecision we want in a President? Vote Bush/Cheney 2004.”

Remember Mitch Hedberg?  The stand-up who did his spaced out, laid back routine with his eyes closed?

"I think foosball is a combination of soccer and shishkabobs."

"I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too."

"My friend asked me if I wanted a frozen banana, I said "No, but I want a regular banana later, so, Yeah.""

"Rice is great when you're hungry and you want 2,000 of something."

Letterman to Appear on 'Regis'
Associated Press, October 20, 2004

NEW YORK - David Letterman, who nfrequently appears on anyone's show but his own, will make a guest appearance next month on "Live With Regis and Kelly."

Letterman, host of CBS' "Late Show," will appear on Nov. 8, the syndicated morning talk show said Tuesday.
"I think it's nice that he visits our show once every 10 years," co-host Regis Philbin told The Associated Press by phone. "But I'm very pleased."

Philbin and Letterman have long traded friendly barbs. He subbed for Letterman in 2000 when the late-night host underwent heart bypass surgery and again in 2003 while Letterman recuperated from an eye infection.

About their friendship, Philbin says, "that's the problem. We're great friends when I go on his show and then I leave and I don't hear from him. But I'm going to settle that on my home ground."

In anticipation of the event, "Live," with Kelly Ripa as co-host, has released its own Top Ten list, with reasons why Letterman is appearing on the show. Among them: "Thinks Kelly is hot" and "Wants to return Regis' copy of `Deuce Bigalow' in person."

Finally!!! Been waiting for a very, very, freakishly long time.
Too bad, though, because Oprah (Who Dave is dying to get on the show since 1980-something, and said that she doesn't even watch him.) supposed to appear on the show, I think just a few more hours from now... :-\

BUT, THIS IS GREAT NEWS! Yey! ;D ;D

Oprah's guest appearance was great--the show was jam-packed. She presented Dave with a signed picture of herself with Uma Thurman  ;D , and Dave also personally escorted her across the street to the premiere of "The Color Purple" musical afterwards, while shouting to passerby, "Hey, it's Oprah!", hehe.  One of Dave's finest moments.

Oprah Gives Dave Best Audience in Decade

By DAVID BAUDER, AP Television Writer Fri Dec 2,11:41 PM ET

NEW YORK - David Letterman has learned the Power of Oprah: her "Late Show" appearance Thursday earned him his biggest audience in more than a decade.

An estimated 13.5 million people stayed up late to watch Winfrey's first visit to Letterman in 16 years, Nielsen Media Research said on Friday. Only three times has Letterman had a bigger audience on CBS — for his network premiere in 1993 and twice in 1994 in the midst of the Nancy Kerrigan-Tonya Harding ice skating melodrama.

Winfrey's appearance more than tripled Letterman's typical audience of 4.3 million viewers, Nielsen said.

Letterman escorted Winfrey to the nearby Broadway premiere of "The Color Purple" after their chat. Winfrey co-produced the musical, at least partly explaining the timing of her Letterman appearance.

During the interview, Winfrey said she thought Letterman's famous 1995 joke on the Academy Awards ("Oprah, Uma. Uma, Oprah") was funny — although she did pointedly present him with a signed portrait of herself with Uma Thurman.

"I have never for a moment had a feud with you," she said.

The summit between the talk titans was set up by years of Letterman jokes about Winfrey, mixed in with years of her rejecting offers to appear on the show, and endless promotion since her visit was announced.

The "Late Show" audience was larger than that of most prime-time programs and appeared to consist almost entirely of people who usually don't watch late-night TV. Incredibly, Jay Leno on NBC's "Tonight" show was seen by 6.2 million people on Thursday — more than his season average of 5.8 million — evidence that Leno's usual fans didn't abandon him.

"Late Late Show" host Craig Ferguson basked in Letterman's glow. His show, which directly follows Letterman, had its biggest audience ever early Friday, Nielsen said.

Does anybody know when the replays are? They moved the first broadcast to 9pm but I can't possibly reach home that early (unless I leave on time from the office but chances of that are nil). I hear Emma Thompson was pretty effing great last night (or is it tonight?).

Help, please?

Sometimes I just find David Letterman unfunny. Even some of his sketches seem lame. Conan O'Brien still has he best comic timing among the late night TV hosts.

This week's guests:

Monday, January 23
Anthony Hopkins (The World's Fastest Indian)
Elisabeth Hasselbeck (The View)

Tuesday, January 24
Emma Thompson (Nanny McPhee)
Beth Orton (CD, "Comfort of Strangers")

Wednesday, January 25
Mischa Barton (The O.C.)
Comedian, Jeff Altman
Wicked Wisdom (CD, "Wicked Wisdom")

Thursday, January 26

Dr. Phil McGraw
Author, Bill Scheft ("Time Won't Let Me")

Friday, January 27
Original Airdate: 1/04/06
Pierce Brosnan (The Matador)
Marv Albert

Elisabeth Hasslebeck to my surprise turned out to be Survivor Elisabeth. I still remember her from her first Late Show appearance as a Surviror reject. As giddy then as she was last night. But still as purty, despite a husband and a son later.

Bill Scheft used to be a Late Show writer.

That Dr. Phil episode came two weeks after the Oprah ep. Wonder what he had to say.

Marv Albert's always good for the sports bloopers.

I missed the one with ScarJo but saw Oprah's.  Man, that was a pretty remarkable interview. Though I felt Dave was "too polite", like he was deathly afraid of offending her  ;D

Just a little kwento: My Ate (based in OH), won 2 tix for the show last June/July. She just joined the official site's online contest on a whim, never expecting to win (and she wasn't really a fan). Well, she did win. The timing was perfect (she was set to go to NY during the week of the taping), their show-contact didn't say who was the guest for that night but my Ate was excited coz War of the Worlds was opening the next weekend. Well, it *was* someone from WotW. Instead of Tom Cruise, however, she got Tim Robbins. Haha. She said she was disappointed: TR's time was too short while the stupid pet tricks went on for an inordinately long time, people from her area (middle, I think) were promised that the camera would pan to them if they applaud really loud (but  they didn't even after they screamed their lungs out), Letterman wasn't friendly and didn't interact with the audience a lot, and finally, nakurnehan daw sya sa mga jokes ni Dave.

Oh, well.  I told her at least she got to experience being part of one of the longest running talk shows in TV history :D

^Couldn't find the ep in BT sites but I read the Wahoo Gazette version.  Too bad I missed it.  The Nobel Prize winning professor was on.  He used to do killer Top Tens.  Hope they rerun the ep soon.

This week:

Monday, February 20
Andy D!ck
Daytona 500 Winner, Jimmie Johnson

Tuesday, February 21
Matthew Fox (Lost)
Comedian, Brian Regan
Broadway's Jersey Boys

Wednesday, February 22

Thursday, February 23
Amanda Peet (Broadway's Barefoot in the Park)
Jack Hanna

Friday, February 24
Hugh Laurie (House)
Ne-Yo (CD, "In My Own Words")

Good as he may be in the acting department, PSH can't seem to lick it in the talking department.  Saw him on Conan (or was it Leno) and he's a little underwhelming.  Maybe Dave's a different story.

House is in the howsz.

Tuesday, February 28
Barbara Walters

Turkey Calling Champs

Wednesday, March 1

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah (CD, "Clap Your Hands Say Yeah")

Friday, March 3
Ricky Gervais (Book, "More Flanimals")
The Subways (CD, "Yours For Eternity")

I caught the tail end of the Bruce Willis interview and it was funny enough.

Clap Your Hands... is one of Time Magazine's must-hear CDs in this weeks issue.

Harry Connick for has been a funny interview the times he was on.

Gervais will probably be promoting the Simpson's ep he wrote and of course Series 2 of the podcast.

Next week it's reruns...

Monday, March 13
Howard Stern
Carrie Underwood

Tuesday, March 14

Natalie Portman (V For Vendetta)

Wednesday, March 15
Vin Diesel (Find Me Guilty)
Trey Parker & Matt Stone (South Park)

Thursday, March 16
(Original Air Date: 2/15/06)
Charles Barkley
Catherine Keener (Capote)
Top Ten with Olympic Gold Medalist, Chad Hedrick

Friday, March 17
(Original Air Date: 1/19/06)
Indianapolis Colts Kicker, Mike Vanderjagt
Cheryl Hines
Anna Nalick

Howard Stern better bring something good to the interview because he really messed things up squeezing into the roster at the last minute.  Last week, interbridge.com had Vin Diesel on Monday and Christopher Moltisanti himself, Michael Imperioli, the great Spider in Goodfellas scheduled Wednesday.  Now Imperioli's gone and we got Stern.  What da...

Good thing Parker and Stone are still on.  Never seen them live before.

Natalie Portman's hair has probaby grown back by now.

Al Franken is always good on Letterman.

Wednesday, March 22

Diddy
Train

Friday, March 24
(Original Air Date: 2/20/06)

Is this Denzel's first time? How about Marcia Cross?

Didn't know David Spade was still alive.

The Andy Dick ep was hilarious.

Train! Again!

What's with the twice a week reruns?  Last week was St. Patrick's so maybe that was the reason, but this week?

This week:

Monday, March 27
Sharon Stone (Basic Instinct 2)
Authors, Mark Fainaru-Wada & Lance Williams ("Game of Shadows")

Tuesday, March 28
Ray Romano (Ice Age 2)
Willie Nelson (CD, "You Don't Know Me: The Songs of Cindy Walker")

Wednesday, March 29
Josh Hartnett (Lucky Number Slevin)
Chris Elliott (Scary Movie 4)
Yeah Yeah Yeahs (CD, "Show Your Bones")

Thursday, March 30
Antonio Banderas (Take The Lead)
Flaming Lips (CD, "At War With the Mystics")

Friday, March 31
Liza Minnelli ("Liza With a 'Z'")
Comedian, Al Lubel

Hey no reruns!

Sharon Stone and Liza Minnelli all in one week.  Stone got the Daily Show treatment last week when she visited Israel and after seeing that, any other talk show she goes on will be like a love fest in comparison.  Liza has been monologue fodder for years, it will be so disappointing to see Dave kiss up this time when she's there in the flesh.

Chris Elliott was a hilarious fixture of Late Night, so I've heard.  I never understood why though, judging from his Late Show appearances.  But you could tell Dave has affection for the guy.

Flaming Lips still alive wharrayaknow.

Friday, April 7
(Original Air Date: 3/2/06)
Harry Connick, Jr. (Broadway's "The Pajama Game")
Comedian, Nick DiPaolo
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah (CD, "Clap Your Hands Say Yeah")

Last week Ray Romano was risque and therefore very funny.  "Of course you know I wouldn't be doing this kind of material if I still had a show on." ;D

Began to watch the Denzel episode but when  Dave started kissing up right off the bat, I just had to click.  The Bruce Willis and the Harry Connick were ok as usual with these two guests.

Pearl Jam had a 1 hour webcast after the show, still available at The Late Show website (http://www.cbs.com/latenight/lateshow) and the torrent sites.

Looking forward to Carmela Soprano this week.

Stayed up late hoping Dave would interview the Dixie Chicks after their performance. No dice.

Good thing the Martha Stewart segment was a hoot with Dave asking the all the "slammer" questions and Martha gamely answering. "What happens during lock up?" "Have you gotten in touch with other cons since you got out?" You know, the kind of questions Leno wouldn't dare think to ask.

Plus, Dave ate a stick of butter and washed it down with wine gulped straight from the bottle. Yum.

Hehe I loved the Episode last night. Martha and Dave are neighbors? Anyway, give Dave credit for saying that the Dixie Chicks are the "most successful girl group in the world," he is just being nice. The girls are under fire for being outspoken against the Bush administration and the war in Iraq, and they are being shunned away by the Country music community. And well, Dave is sort of a Democrat is he? ???

Last night Dave and Rupert revived an old routine they used to do back in the 90s.  Rupert would wear a cap rigged with a camera and a radio receiver and Dave would be in a car not far away.  Basically, Dave would tell Rupert by radio what to do and what to say verbatim.  Dave had him knocking on strangers' doors, trick or treating, buying at mcdonalds, talking to car salesmen, standing in a park, all the while saying and doing the wackiest stuff.  The result was a clip segment that was absolutely hilarious.  They had to stop it though after some episodes because someone almost pulled a knife on Rupert or something like that.

Anyway, last night there was "Jamba Juice Theater."  Same routine except now, Dave's on his desk and Rupert just crosses the street to a Jamba Juice.  He doesn't wear a hat anymore because the cameras are just outside the store out of sight.  And everything is going on in real time with no editing unlike before where a clip was shown.  The routine could have benefitted from  some editing but it still killed.  Dave may have slowed down a bit but is still quick as a whip. Rupert on the other hand is still the ultimate puppet - mindlessly obedient with no regard for his safety -- or dignity.

Hope they do more of this.  Hope Dave would haul his @ss out of his chair once in a while and do his outdoor skits.  Really miss those.

Well, you're probably right, maybe its just because Bush is the president for quite sometime, and I started watching only when it started on E! Philippines, and also maybe he's not really nice with Cheney's daughter and Bill O'Reily (Who I think saw Dave as an important figure in TV, well at least before that "60% on your show is crap" came about). :P

Tom Brokaw (Global Warming: What You Need to Know)

Saw part of the Al Gore ep, particulary Stephanie doing the boyfriend dance.  I can still remember her doing that the first time years ago and it really killed probably because it was more spontaneous and definitely because Dave's doctor and Rupert ending up doing it with Stephanie in the middle.  The boyfiend dance I mean.

Not a bad week with Spacey and Depp and Downey and Paul Simon.   Particularly Depp.  I hope Spacey does his impersonations.

Fred Willard is a Tonight Show staple isn't he? What's he doing here.

Letterman signs on for four more years at CBS
Thu Sep 7, 2006 2:47 AM ET

By Cynthia Littleton

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - From the home office at the Ed Sullivan Theater: David Letterman is staying at CBS for another four years.

Letterman, 59, is close to finalizing a contract extension with CBS that will keep him at the helm of "The Late Show With David Letterman" through the 2009-10 season, sources said. Negotiations on the pact have been underway on and off for months, but sources close to the network and the Letterman camp say the talks went smoothly and there was never any doubt that the Emmy-winning late-night host would extend his tenure at "Late Show," which originates from the famed Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City.

Indeed, sources say that relations between CBS, Letterman and his Worldwide Pants production company have never been better, particularly between Letterman and CBS Corp. chief Leslie Moonves. Moonves has become a semi-regular presence on "Late Show" through the "More With Les" segments, featuring Letterman conversing with Moonves by telephone.

The harmony between Letterman and CBS stands in stark contrast to the situation 4-1/2 years ago, when Letterman was being heavily courted by ABC and reportedly felt under-appreciated at CBS. At the time, Letterman wound up striking a two-year renewal deal that included a series of one-year options, while sources said this time around the deal is a four-year commitment.

Financial details of the new deal were unclear. Letterman already ranks high on the list of television's highest-paid personalities, with an annual salary of about $31.5 million under the 2002 contract agreement. Sources said the new deal keeps Letterman in roughly similar salary territory as the 2002 pact, but that could not be confirmed late Wednesday.

A CBS spokesman declined comment on the deal, as did Letterman's handlers.

Sharapova. Mmmmm. Purty.

Long time between guestings for Norm.  I think the last time he was on was when he quit SNL.

Just who are The Who nowadays.  Daltrey and Townshend? Do two Whos make a whole Who or just half a Who?

I'd love to see Dave mess up Rachael Ray who always looks straight and unflappable doing those 30 minute meals.

The Sharapova show was one helluva great one.  If you missed it, you'd better fire up the bittorrent because this one is a keeper.  Just like old times, there were sharp quips from the Dave of yore and great comedy all around.  Nice to see him without the kid gloves for a change.  What you missed:

- A picture of Harry (just started pre-school)
- Katie Couric sign-off lines ("Putting the BS in CBS", "Get on with your lives losers.")
- A perky Sharapova sticking it to a smitten Dave (first time guest, gets a kiss on the hand and gets called a "fine physical specimen" afterwards when she's gone)
- Martha Stewart sucking Dave's blood. ("I'm glad you got out of the house!" probably the quote of the night.)
- Justin Timberlake getting asked to sit which he does smugly, but gets raked over the coals with questions on Cameron Diaz, smoking weed during a Rolling Stone interview, and the wardrobe malfunction. A good sport but let's just say this kid probably ain't coming back anytime soon.

This was classic, brilliant Dave and it was fantastic to see him again.

It was a great show. Dave was very endearing for once talking about his kid. You can tell he was being a loving father at the time. This is followed by hilarious Katie Couric sign-off lines and great interviews.

I think this is a strong contender to be their submission for the Emmys next year.

Nathan Lane (Broadway's Butley)
Comedian, Jeff Caldwell

Ventriloquist week wasn't bad at all.  Very funny in fact. Or was it just a case of low expectations exceeded with ease.  I think it's more because of the novelty -- ironic since the thing is like as old as shadow theater.

That lizard girl segment tonight was funny.  Dave really is good with kids. Looking for some laughs but very careful the kid doesn't come out looking like a freak.

Dane Cook on Letterman.  First time?  Can Carrot Top be far behind? America's No. 1 comic but when he was on Leno a few weeks back I almost fell asleep.

Don't miss the Sharapova ep.  One of the funniest in recent memory.  I didn't realize it was originally aired on 9/11 until now.  I don't remember Dave even mentioning it or anything about it during the show.

The Opie and Anthony segment was great. They seemed real pleased to be on the show. Pleased enough to diss Howard Stern good.

Dave walked out on Dr. Phil and brought Mrs. Phil along.

Not too shabby a line-up.

Is this Tina Fey's first time? Wonder how he does with Dave.

Isn't it too early for Jay Thomas? He can't be throwing the football to knock the meatball off the Empire State Building on the pizza on top of the christmas tree already, can he?

Another O'Reilly showdown?

Elaine Benes is on.  She'll always be Elaine even if she's Christine now.

The Killers!

I know this isn't Tina's first time with Dave. She has appeared quite a few times in the past.

I'm looking forward to the O'Reilly rematch. He really brought him down a couple of pegs when Dave said that he thinks "60% of what O'Reilly says is crap". Leno wouldn't have the guts to say that.

Borat! He did Conan a long while back and people were shocked (shocked!) at his "behavior".

Morningwood again.  (In my pants!)  Looks like they made an impression on Dave.

Rachel Weisz again.  Not soon enough.  Martin Short on the other hand...

How nice will Dave be to Rosie?

It's Thanksgiving week:

Monday, November 20
Jerry Seinfeld
ESPN's Dan Patrick

Tuesday, November 21
Chris Elliott
Hugh Jackman (The Fountain)
Nextel Cup Winner Jimmie Johnson

Wednesday, November 22
Stupid Pet Tricks
Matthew Broderick (Deck The Halls)
Lupe Fiasco & Jill Scott

Thursday, November 23
Dave's Mom
Eugene Levy (For Your Consideration)
John Mayer

Friday, November 24
Top Ten with Dr. Phil
Helen Hunt (Bobby)
DJ Shadow & Q-Tip

Caught a few of the impressionists. Rich Little's jokes were as old as he was. Kevin Pollack was the best, with his Adam Arkin and Walken bits.  Even had Peter Falk's trick eye.

Saw Michael Richards make his satellite appearance after his n-word fiasco while Seinfeld was on.  Pathetic.  Sure, Jerry got him the spot but provided no comfort really.  "I'm not touching you with a ten-foot pole," Seinfeld's demeanor seemed to say.

It's Thanksgiving so Dave's Mom is baking a pie or two.  I'm guessing cherry and pecan.  Place your bets.

Next week, RICHARD SIMMONS makes a return after 6 years.

What??!! That's earth-shaking news.  Last time I saw him was during a Katrina coverage I think and he was a little shaken and stirred.  I like to think he never recovered from Dave's extinguisher and expletive fueled attack that's why he looked so dishelved in that news footage.  Has it really been six years?
Title: Re: The DAVID LETTERMAN Thread
Post by: Klaus Weasley on Nov 28, 2006 at 12:01 AM
Yep.

I think the story behind it was: Dave has a bad neck. Guests are always instructed to not touch Dave on the neck because it hurts. During that Thanksgiving turkey bit (Dave and Richard Simmons are always clowning around), Richard grabbed Dave's neck and Dave got really mad and yelled expletives at him. Richard Simmons hasn't been on since. Dave always pokes fun at Richard but it was always in good fun. I think that particular instance, it went too far and genuinely upset him.

Saw the Richard Simmons ep where Dave almost set the guy on fire.  They had their old shtick going with Richard playing the hysterical pixie with the schoolgirl crush and Dave ready to zap him with a cattle prod in case he goes crazy.  Seemed like old times, like nothing happened.

Dave's Richard Simmons quote of the night: "Honest to God, I don't know how his wife puts up with him."

Christmaaaaaaas! Baby please come home.  Christmaaaaaaas!

^Agree about Dave and Stern. Mutual respect is what they have and it really shows. Howard is wise enough not to take postshots at Dave, and when Dave takes a stab at Howard it's never gratuitous, it's always to make a point.

Last week Jan. 1 they showed a different rerun than advertised.  And that "Subway Superman" made an appearance during the week according to reports.

Gary Mule Deer! Good grief, the last time I saw this guy was in the old "Make Me Laugh" shown in the afternoons on the old Ch.2. (Yes, I'm ancient as the pyramids). I hear his name mentioned in Dave's gags, like being in the cast of a new movie like Casino Royale and then Dave and Paul do a double take.  Now he's here.  And I missed it darn.

Some ancient buddies of Dave's on the lineup, Maron and Witherspoon (wonder if Dave and Mule Deer have history).  Now and again Dave puts his old friends from his stand up days on his show, help them out.  Nice guy Dave.

A little shake up in last week's sched. Somebody named Madonna dropped by.

Dave loves the Amy.

Terry and Bindi did Ellen and now Dave. Wonder why they haven't done Leno.  He wrote Steve''s write-up for Time Magazine's year-ender so they were close apparently.

Racing buddies again.

Harry Shearer!

Tina Fey. Not nominated for Globes but her boy Alec just bagged best actor.

Diana Ross is still alive.  Dave hardly made jokes of her recent misadventures, rich source of comedy that they were.

Last week, the Ukranian Vera Farmiga dropped by Thursday and blew the roof off the place.  Dave was smitten and gave her a kiss on the hand at the end. Rare for a frist-time guest.

Dave will ask Kevin Spacey to do Johnny Carson like he always does.

It's Dave's 25th Anniversary week!

Monday, January 29
Will Smith (The Pursuit of Happyness)
Evanescence (CD, "The Open Door")

Tuesday, January 30
Matt Damon (The Departed)
Barbara Walters (The View)

Wednesday, January 31

Friday, February 2

Dustin Kensrue (CD, "Please Come Home")

February 1 marks Dave's 25th year in late night TV entertainment.  Bill Murray was his first ever guest on Late Night, and on Late Show when he moved to CBS.  I think Dave has him on every anniversary.  Yep, beneath it all Dave's a sentimental softie.

Monday, February 5

Katherine Heigl (Grey's Anatomy)
Patty Griffin (CD, "Children Running Through")

Friday, February 9
John Madden
Rachael Ray (The Rachael Ray Show)
The Fab Faux

You just know it's a humdrum week if Chris Elliott is on.

Dave's Super Bowl ad is getting a lot of talk. In fact, I think it's the ad that's generated the most buzz in relation to its length (10 secs) and number of edits (3).  Heck, its so short and sweet we can even transcribe it here:

(http://www.cbs.com/latenight/lateshow/videos/thumbnails/905697/thumbnail138x71.jpg) (http://www.ifilm.com/video/2819651)

"You want the Bears and I want the Colts but we both win because we're in love."
"Honey, don't talk with your mouth full."
"Oh, sorry."

So who was Indiana-native Dave celebrating the Super Bowl of Love with? His girl from Chicago of course.  Guess you have to click (http://www.ifilm.com/video/2819651) to see for yourself.

Since Dave's Colts have won Super Bowl XLI, will he be casually picking up the Vince Lombardi trophy from behind the couch anytime soon, like he does the Stanley Cup?

Tracy Morgan will be interesting. He just pleaded guilty to a drunk driving charge (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070214/ap_en_tv/people_tracy_morgan).  Not exactly solicitation of a prostitute on Hollywood Blvd. but let's see where Dave takes it.

Finally, Tobey Maguire appeared in the Late Show today after speculations he won't. I wonder what seemed to be the problem between him and the show. Before today, David was telling his audience about receiving nasty replies from Tobey's camp. Kirsten Dunst was a guest yesterday.

He was the one who came out first when David introduced Tobey. He spent a minute or so talking to Dave until the real Tobey came out.

Here's a news article (http://canadianpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5gim-0PhgBDp_fCBgxpR2L8kPs4Lg") that covers everything, including the Top Ten.  And in the modern spirit of keeping a cynical eye open when it comes to this kind of media event, here's the snarkiest one (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2007/09/dave-meets-opra.html) I could find.

I find Paul Schaffer obnoxious and intrusive. If only he would refrain from making side remarks thorughout the show, the show would be so much better.

Letterman is back with writers and full beard. (http://"http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080103/ap_en_tv/hollywood_labor_late_night")

The Late Show is now on ETC which is now on SBN21 Free TV which is Ch.16 on SkyCable. 11pm weekdays. Been watching since Tuesday and it's still synced with the US schedule.

Big casualty is Jon Stewart which is nowhere in the lineup. Any chance Solar will come to its senses anytime soon?

Dave's been in the news a lot lately.

Last week, Blagojevich came over (http://"http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-ap-apontv-davidletterman,0,6429770.story") and Dave quickly made minced meat out of him (serves him right actually).

Then the crew of Flight 1549 that ended up in the Hudson had some laughs with Dave (http://"http://www.ny1.com/content/ny1_living/93774/flight-1549-crew-jokes-with-david-letterman/Default.aspx") and were given their well-deserved star wattage.

Then just last night, Joaquin Phoenix joined a distinguished list of WTF?! guests (Crispin Glover, Farrah Fawcett) with his own brand of I-desperately-need-help guest appearance (http://"http://news.bostonherald.com/track/inside_track/view.bg?articleid=1151841").

My favorite Dave news of the past few days came out today:  U2 will be Letterman's house band for one whole week (http://"http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/feb/13/u2-late-night-david-letterman") March 2 to 6.

Dave's way of saying "Sayonara Jay!"?

Some people think Joaquin Phoenix's weirdness is just an act.

For his sake, I sure hope so.

Letterman issued a public apology to his wife, admitted that he had an affair with one of his show's staff. Saw the Today show this morning and they're saying it was Stephanie, who I think started as a phone operator, who once had a bit on the show where Dave calls her to make small talk on air. Right now I feel dirty. Akala ko parang father-daughter lang ang relationship nila. Eeewww!

Some people are saying Dave did a good thing admitting he did wrong before a CBS news producer could expose/blackmail him. But I don't know...parang hypocrite sya. he picked on Clinton and that Governor Sanford for their infidelities pero sya rin pala... Kawawa rin si Stephanie kasi people will question every promotion and break she got.

Not really. He's a talk show host. Not a government official. Also, he wasn't married to his live-in girlfriend-now-wife when the affairs happened. Plus it was completely consensual. Was what he did wrong? Yes. Is it any of our business? No.

To Letterman's credit, his staff is incredibly loyal and I've never heard a report of any disgruntled employees over at Worldwide Pants.

I always thought Stephanie was a hottie. She likes them old pala  ;D

I always thought Stephanie was cute (and funny - "Do you get to see or touch any monkeys?"). Wouldn't have guessed she'd be having sex with Letterman. I do know she has expressed fondness for him but I always thought it was more fatherly. Oh, well. LOL.

David Letterman is officially retiring on 2015. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5sVI_-LRCI&noredirect=1)

No unexpected. He's gonna be missed.

I may not have been a guest but I don't know if I mentioned it here but David Letterman did mention my name on the air since I wrote a letter for his CBS Mailbag comedy bit way back in 1999. :)
