this is a reissue of the classic movie in 1986, bare bones dvd was released in 1998 i think. now it's a double disc in anamorphic widescreen and dts!

Nice. No cover art is approved yet, but we'll bring it to you when it's ready to go."

Hmmm... looks like they're re-releasing all those Tom Cruise's bare bones DVDs, just like Born on the 4th... hope they'll do the same with MI in the furture... you know, 2-discs...

It's already available for pre-order from Amazon on Nov. 16, 2004.

this version will be pushed back to a later date 12/14 this year according to digitalbits, earlier plan was 11/16

Great news- here comes my third version!
First one was laserdisk, second the DVD release and now the re-release.
I was on the Philippines when this was first shown. My date totally ignored me for Tom Cruise! He,he!
Then I joined the US Navy and found myself on a aircraft carrier watching the flight deck action ring side! Had the kick-ass experience of being launched off those catapults (wish I was driving!) and landing on those decks.
The original DVD release is pretty well done (this next one ought to do better!). It had all the authentic sounds and clanks of those catapults and arresting gear. Only thing missing was the heat and smell of those jet fumes!
Yeah! Feel those after burners again. My subs will definitely have a field day!

sometimes they're delayed in updating their dvd details, the people from digitalbits were informed by the guys from paramount.

hehe i think you'll enjoy this version because it's in DTS 6.1 ES this time, i saw your setup from another thread, kagulow ka siguro sa panonood hehe i'm not sure if they have a new transfer but it will be available in widescreen and full screen. opening sequence pa lang, you can hear how the f-14s are launched hahaha

i loved the f-14s, too bad they will be decomissioning these birds when they transition to f/a-18e and f.
even the test squadron in point mugu (vx-9) ended their vandy planes
what squadron have you flown using s-3s?

The title had originally been expected in November, but it's now officially set to hit store shelves on 12/14. By the way, we hear the DTS soundtrack on the disc is to die for. ;-)

No prob krets. ;D I almost bought the old version on sale at Astro, buti na lang hindi because there's this newer one on the way. It's kinda curious though that, the details at dvdtown (http://www.dvdtown.com/discdetails/topgunspecialcollectorsedition/12389/) says it's gonna be non-anamorphic.. :(

I'm planning to get this at GameStop because they have a promo now where you can trade-in any 3 used DVD titles for an upcoming DVD title (choices are limited though). I was able to do this with Spiderman 2 (SE) (will pick it up on 11/30) and I traded-in the ff. DVDs: My Cousin Vinny, Cobra and Hard To Kill (about $5.50 each). ;D

just received this title today. the cover art print is very grainy for a new release.. was so disappointed.. no slip case and no insert.. have to check the pix and audio quality tonight and look for some saving grace/s...
