Is it Reasonble? When I started my subscription, I paid 6 months in advance at P370/month plus 1 month free. They don't have that anymore - its P520/month and the only incentives are: half month free for 6 months advance; 1 month free for one year advance. So I'm just paying monthly.
Which reminds me, I still haven't received my bill, baka maputulan ako dito :-/

So far so good maraming movie channel but i miss Star channels espcially the sports and National Geographic sana magkabati na ang Sky and Star in the future :)

in the world, the WOWOW channel, a Japanese channel that has an excellent movie line-up (no
cuts), some anime (in Japanese nga lang, w/o subtitles), and some live sports coverage. Yung movie selection nya is worth the subscription alone. First night pa lang, they showed two Johnny Depp films back-to-back, Crybaby (John Waters) and Dead Man (dir. by Jim Jarmusch) which was followed by Final Destination. Nung Saturday am, they showed Dune (David Lynch version) and just tonight, American Pie and
The Hand That Rocks the Cradle. Letterboxed pa, Japanese subtitles tho. Global has HBO, Star Sports, Star World, ESPN, Viva Cinema and Hollywood Channel (a Taiwan-based channel that sometimes air Taiwanese softpornish lingerie ads past midnight!) but no Star Movies, Star Mandarin and UNTV (!)

Kahit wala ng ESPN at Star Sports SkyCable pa rin. Do I have a choice? None. since Sky bought Cebu Cable they have become a virtual monopoly in Cebu. Increase na naman next month despite pulling out ESPN and StarSports.

yung mga tv series like dawson's creek, friends, sex & the city etc, meron silang japanese at english versions. same thing with their movies. sometimes you get to watch it in japanese pero laging may english version. 8)

i have destiny and its good all the way.. my brother has dream broadcasting set up in his room which is composed of a satelite dish and receiver. He gets super clear picture and sounds. He evens gets the schedule on his TV and how many minutes is left on any show and what's next with just a click on a button. Its so cool....!!! If i had the cash DREAM would be the way to go!
hi mink - do you have any idea how much this costs? highly recommended ba talaga? and what channels do they cover? just afraid na baka parang sky/home din sila na magtanggal ng channels tapos magtataas pa ng presyo. obviously, i'm presently with sky (since 1999) and since we don't have destiny pa, no choice ako.

Our cable TV is free.( well, yung monthly lang )
Why? Because the ones who connected it are the same people who connect them legally.
They install it for a fee of PhP3,000.
Just for your info: they have the Star Channels( ESPN, Star world, Movies ) pero thry dont have Wowow( Boy, id like to have that channel )
Rating? Ill give them a 4, just for having the Star channels.

Destiny...hmmm siguro they can add Wowow sa lineup nila pero Sky never will. Ive heard a lot about Wowow maganda nga daw, there's the real movie entertainment and the entertainment for the inner temples of your body &mind :P
Sky is very much guarded by the MTRCB, yung channels from Spain,Germany at France eh lagi nacut off pag may lewd scene sa movie or show, tipong off the air signal. Also E! is affected by this system.They had this biographical documentary on a famous radio psychologist who had some sort of pornographic past, pero I really was interested sa life story niya but it came to the part that the show featured what was supposed to be nude and topless pictures of their subject, pero ayun pinutol agad ng Sky/MTRCB for more than a minute kahit may nagsasalita na, you get to miss the whole point of the show. That's the big problem if your cable provider's the most widely subscribed to nationwide. Cable service sa province is much better ;D

But admittingly, not only here. before in US we are subscribe to a country cable someting provider until recently last late 2000 as this was bought by TCI Cable. Upon the buying from TCI, they made some changes like removing Playboy Channel and Spice. I guess the blame would be on the management of this cable providers :)

Service interruption is minimal, but several channel re-assignments. Sorry, No WOWOW Channel (Pls see related post I made in this thread).

Switched to Destiny from Sky Cable last November, and since then, I've been very happy with Destiny.
This is the first time I've heard of alleged frequent cable TV service interruptions. Based on my own experience, I can not remember any tv signal interruptions, except for one or two that was scheduled. Maybe the report was referring more to cable internet sometime late last year and early this year when they were upgrading. Lately though, my internet connection has been relatively fast and trouble-free.

It's gone from Skycable/SunCable, too. My thoeries on the sudden disappearance of Fashion TV:
1. Techinical problems: I noticed a couple of days prior to the disappearance the feed would suddenly freeze
2. No longer free to air: ala TechTV, Fashion TV decided to charge cable providers a fee for carrying the channel
3. Moralists: Somebody complained to MTRCB about Fashion TV's tendency to show models wearing very sexy loungerie or even nothing at all
4. Bankruptcy: Fashion TV ran out of money
5. Making way: Cable providers pulled it in anticipation for the start of the Playboy channel
Anybody knows what really happened?

There was a message scrolling at the bottom of the screen that starting so-and-so date FTV would be encoded, so that is most probably why it is not there anymore.

Two Sundays ago, I was watching ABC 5. They were showing some sort of "launching of FTV Philippines". Seems to have been held at the lobby of Enterprise Center.
From another forum I visit, another FTV fan posted that he caught FTV Philippines last Sunday evening.
I'll try to check again this Sunday. It looks like they're putting up a local version.
Not sure whether this has anything to do with the disappearance of FTV on cable though.

What's with Global cable having an Adult Channel 98?
Wher you have to but a descramble aparatus to fully view it. It is called Hot Channel, A Japanes cable channel!
But... Unfortunately this was exposed by Mike Enriquez' Imbestigador in GMA last Saturday after a Born-Again Christian squilled to the said media group about what Glocal cable is doing as if this brother was offended (Daw).

Because they want to keep on milking for cash, that's why. A sort of penalty for discontinuing your monthly contributions to their bottom line, babawi-an ka na lang nila. A truly absurd policy.
I gave my former cable company representative a big piece of my mind when they asked me for a "disconnection fee". Natakot ata. Sabi pwede naman daw hindi bayaran... Hehe, unahan mo ng sindak.
Takot mga yan sa iskandalo. Tell them that what they are doing is illegal and they can shove any signed agreement where the sun don't shine.

Well, mukhang bumabawi Sky Cable at iba pang may SOLAR channel. If I remember it right, SOLAR na ang exclusive channel to show live NBA games, at hindi na ESPN. I asked Destiny and they dont have SOLAR daw.
So, NBA fans better get a cable operator that has SOLAR. At kung may Wowow, the better. ;D

I read in the WAP version of inq7.net that Star TV is pulling the plug on Destiny cable on Oct 15. I tried searching for the link on the internet but I get a 404.
The report said that Star TV is pulling out for no apparent reason. They're speculating that they (Star TV) entered in an exclusivity contract with Sky-Home.
Can anyone verify this report?

I have read in the Inquirer today that by October 15, Star TV (Starworld, Starmovies, Star-chinese, etc) is pulling out its channels from Destiny Cable because their contract with Destiny has already expired. StarTV daw is going exclusive to Sky cable. Well, Destiny is making sure that this doesn't happen. I am keeping my fingers crossed or else...lipat na naman. Maybe Paranaque Cable TV kasi mura lang at P350/month.
I started out from Sky, then Sun then Destiny...now what?

heard about this too, from the folks at pinoypc. i hope its not true, though i wouldn't put it past the lopezes. they put up skycable, which sucks, then suncable, which also sucks, then they buy up homecable, which henceforth sucked.
i used to be a skycable subscriber, switched to home when i couldn't stand skycable's service and price, switched to destiny when sky gobbled up home.
what's with this people? can't they understand the importance of competition and free market? the lopezes want to be THE cable provider for metro manila so they can jack up their subscription price some more. somebody should stop them.

Yung Paranaque cable meron when I was subscribed to their service about 1 1/2 years ago. don't know kung meron pa ngayon. I think they only service the southern areas in the vicinity of paranaque.

i'm now with sun cable (which is really skycable lite - less Cinemax, Discovery, Disney Channel). i didn't want to have anything to do with a lopez owned cable provider (let's see, sky, home and sun) but my building has exclusive ties with sky. parang prinsipyo lang, i chose sun. hehehehe.
anyway, still the same bad service. i get my bill and a notice of disconnection at the same time (i would complain but their customer service number doesn't serve any purpose other than to destroy your resolve to complain).

If you currently get Cinemax and Disney, you're on SkyCable Gold, which is 800/month.
The Discovery Channels come with the 1100/month Platinum "Lifestyle Package," while there is a separate 1100/month Platinum "HBO Movie Package" that includes HBO, HBO Hits, HBO Signature, and HBO Family. If you want ALL channels, that'll be 1350/month PLUS 2000 (refundable) PER TV you will use the service on.

most likely may nagalaw sa main box nila so condo ninyo, baka may nagpakabit or worse may kumabit. Report mo, it should be easy to fix.
I also live in a condo and this happened to me (Cablelink Paranaque), when the tech guys came in and adjusted the wires, my reception went back to "normal". Imagine my surprise when the tech guys said "pangit pa rin" They tried to improve it wala nangyari. I said "ok na sa akin ito, normal na siya". They concluded that the wires going up to the units which were laid out by the developers were inferior. They said "sir, dapat mas maganda pa dyan pero wala na kami magagawa, wiring na ng building ang problema". :D

just an update on my skycable problem. signal is back to normal. when i called their hotline yesterday, i was informed that the problem wasn't isolated but is area-wide. and that they were checking the area. anyway, when i got back last night, everything was fine.

Well, it's good while it lasts. Skycable recently installed our digibox. It's back to Silver package. And now we only have 1 TV that's on cable.

as for btv,bro,sa destiny pwede ka mag add ng nba premium hd channel.150 per month lang.im waiting for the cable guys to come over today.pay in advance lang na worth 4 months (600php), tas 2yrs lock in period.no commercial breaks,at least locally.pag nag time out daw,nka tutok lang daw yung camera sa court,so yung makikita mo once a timeout is called e parang andun ka din lang daw sa arena.
at least yun yung sabi ng bill collector ko.sana nga totoo. ;D

^meron po akong destiny ppv sa bahay, nba premium and pacquiao vs mosley (2 channels) lang available. Yung sa NBA premium channel nila hindi maganda ang sounds, same broadcast nung sa ESPN live 2 days ago yung broadcast sa NBA premium channel, at that moment i'd checked BTV (nung meron pa sa kanila) iba yung broadcast pero live din naman.
yup 150 a month lang sya, 600 pesos para sa advance 4 months payment lang.
btw, motorola yung digibox na gamit nila, component video out ang output nya.

i have both Cignal and Destiny sa bahay in my 50" panny plasma.
Of course Cignal gives a better PQ, pero hindi din naman panget yung sa Destiny. Yung Destiny PPV is tapped to my panel via component video out from its box.

sa mga sky cable subscribers, may pumunta na ba sa inyong agent na mag iinstall ng digibox for free? kahapon may pumunta dito samen, kakabit na daw nya yung digibox namin kase papatayin na daw ng sky yung analog signal nila dito sa area namin. kaso di ko pa pinakabit kase 1 digibox lang ang dala, eh 2 yung TVs na ginagamit namin. hindi pala pwede gamitan ng splitter yun, so sabi ko wag muna kasi importante samen ang 2 TVs. lalo na ngayon na NBA playoffs na. ;D

we have both Sky and Destiny at our place. I have Destiny cable in my room. I just got myself an LG 42LK450, and hooked it up to the cable. I just realized how "dirty" Destiny's signal is on some channels. when I watch DVDs or streaming video, picture quality is good. when I watch cable tv channels like Star Sports, it looks grainy and washed out.
maybe I should have just gone with a Toshiba LCD with Auto-Clean. but I have no regrets about getting my 42" LG. :)

What cable connection are you using? Naka HDMI cable ka ba, S Video or yun regular lang na composite cable ( yellow for video and red white for audio )? And anong channel pinapanood mo? Depende yan sa mga factors na yan. Yun sa akin naka HD Digibox na ako at HDMI cable pero ang BTV (ch 33) ko pixelated at grainy pa rin sa 46 inch Panasonic Plasma.

Suggest ilagay mo sa CINEMA Mode pagdating sa Cable shows para maging smooth ng konti at di halata ang grain. Tapos i adjust mo na lang contrast, color, etc based on your preference.
