Post by: hemisphere on Dec 03, 2004 at 07:39 PM
12/3/04

We're hearing from our sources that Blade: Trinity director David Goyer reportedly plans 2 versions of the film for the eventual DVD release - a theatrical version and an 11-minute longer director's cut featuring a darker, alternate ending to the film. Blade: Trinity opens on 12/8 in theaters.

Stay tuned...

Further Details
Our friends at Bloody-Disgusting have posted details on Blade: Trinity which stars Wesley Snipes, Kris Kristofferson, Jessica Biel, Ryan Reynolds, Parker Posey and Dominic Purcell. The film will be available to own in double-disc rated and unrated editions from the 26th April, priced at around $29.95 a piece. The unrated edition will carry an extended cut of the film with an extra ten minutes of footage, presented in anamorphic widescreen along with both Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 6.1 Surround tracks. The extras will include two commentaries with writer/director David Goyer, Jessica Biel, Ryan Reynolds, producer and crew, a 16-part behind-the-scenes documentary, an alternate ending, a blooper reel, a Goyer on Goyer: The Writer Interviews the Director featurette, the VFX Progression and Weapons galleries and the films theatrical trailer. The rated disc will also carry these features (with the exception of the commentary) but will also feature a full screen transfer too along with just the 5.1 and Stereo Surround tracks. Topping everything off will be a collectible, limited edition Marvel comic book. A trilogy set containing all three Blade films will also be available from the 26th. A collectible, limited edition Marvel comic book? Hmm...sounds interesting. Worth looking out for. I hope the extended cut of the film with an extra ten minutes of footage consist more gore & fight scenes similar to Kill Bill Vol:1 (Japan version).

Double or even tripple dip is a phenomenon that can't be avoided in certain circumstances esp among serious collectors (such as yourself baby :) ) but it is indeed a frustrating experience most of the time....unless the double or triple dip consist of totally different packaging esp limited edition such example: the House of the Flying Daggers LE, HK & Korea release.  :)

Lucky for me I haven't get any of the Blade series....definitely looking forward to this Trilogy Boxset!  :o

Blade Giftset
DVD Release Date: April 26, 2005
Number of discs: 3  :(

too bad no special features mentioned regarding this boxset, and disappointingly 3 discs only - i guess we can't expect much from only 3 discs.  >:(

Now this is confusing. All of the sites I've visited (eg., cd-wow, play.com, dvdconcept) either have the number of discs pegged at 5, or to be confirmed. I only hope the 5-disc set wins out.

Loved the first 2 movies & already have them on DVD, however Blade Trinity is really bad IMHO. Although an early review praises the video, DTS-ES audio & extensive 105 mins. making-of documentary, I personally have decided to pass on Trinity.

hi, thanks for the info, i guess Amazon is still cheaper at $50.39 and is being released April 26.  (ciguro kaya mas mura because 3-disc lang ang naka-post sa details- heh heh  ;D) anyway, i didn't really liked the ending of Blade Trinity but if this has the "darker version" of the ending i'd love to see it.  :)

Amazon offers the lowest price at $50.39.It sez that its only 3 disc but its really 5 disc.  I haven’t seen Blade Trinity yet. But based on people’s reaction on the movie. Is doesn’t seem that good. But for me ill buy the trilogy to complete the collection and also for the box that comes with it. :)

Here is the actual pic of the Blade Trilogy 5disc Ultimate Collection. I got mine at a very low introductory price of $34.95 at Frys (Last week from April 26-29)

(http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0PQAkA1oRfgECJcH5jUxGBzcfjUn7sylgCTP6!IpyMthvMLk2mDGYi0ZykAdkvPVvdITPw1PO3Gs1bdSFdilGvz8M2naUVkwT/Blade0.JPG?dc=4675520849841859925)

On top of the 5disc set and a wondeful embosed box coverart.
The box set also comes with a limited Marvel Comics (same size as the Spiderman2 comic insert) that is prepacked in Blade Trinity dvd

By the way PCHIN... The Alternate Ending... its not darker... its funnier

*spoiler* .. The alternate ending is located at Disc 2 of Blade Trinity and the main characters of it were NightStalkers hunting a Werewolf/Vampire Breed Monster in a casino located China . No Blade on sight...

Yeah, Blade: Trinity was pretty lame IMHO. Re the director's cut, I can't see how an additional 11 minutes can save  the film. Wesley Snipes is actually sueing New Line and Goyer for messing it up -- plus they still owe him money.

Would I buy the 5-disc set? Maybe I'll wait for the inevitable next sequel. Blade is like the Alien franchise in that way. Hopefully the 4th one's a charm.

There were only two versions of Blade Trinity out there in the market

Blade Trinity R-RATED

Blade Trinity Unrated

The difference.... Well Seeing the film both on theatres and the Unrated DVD I have.. its not that much of added footage

I'm currently visiting here in Ontario Canada and Blade Trinity DVD cover says "Extreme Version" instead of "Unrated Version" i'm thinking maybe this is just the same.

You did not mentioned it from your previous post that you saw it in Canada..

Anyways...

Its basically the (some parts of) Canadian DVD Title for Blade Trinity Unrated, However there were parts of Canada (like Vancouver that carries it as "Unrated" than "extreme")
