Title: The Apprentice / The Celebrity Apprentice
Post by: RMN on Jul 12, 2004 at 12:46 PM
The Apprentice, the reality tv show of billionaire real estate/casino mogul Donald Trump has been picked-up by abc-5 to be aired every Monday at 8 pm. Pilot episode today. But I think this is season one.

So no more Friends tonight? ABC5 airs it at 8PM kasi. Interesting....What season was Omarosa in?

There's only been one season so far, CrUzSACK.  ;)

For those who don't want to watch the show on a weekly basis, the 5-disc DVD boxed set of season one is due scheduled to be released on August 24th:

This show makes me wanna go back to work again!

Omarosa's not so bad, I think her being driven is misunderstood. I understand what she said about getting a strategy or a gameplan. But we're only 2 episodes down so I might take back what I say here. ;D

i loved this show. super addicting! and i totally agree Hank, omarosa is the De-Bil! did you catch her spot on Oprah! she's a mean, manipulative woman.

I never saw her on Oprah. I actually thought she was just b**chy and manipulative even until she was voted off. But:
When she came back and was clearly intentionally sabotaging Kwame, and lied to his face about the phone call over dinner without even batting an eye, I finally understood what all the Omarosa hatred and the Clairol boycott threat was about.
I call this show "Survivor for contestants with brains."

Apologies to Elisabeth Filarski.  ;D

My cousin bought the DVD set of the first season, and nearly freaked out when she opened the box and heard Donald Trump say "You're Fired!"--it seems there's some kind of audio chip thing inside the box that's triggered when you open the flap. It's a nice little gimmick, but doesn't justify the expensive price of the set.

Also, the DVD set is another casualty of music licensing (a famous example: Dawson's Creek): the episodes don't have the theme song heard on the original opening credits; some other song that's so out of place is used instead.  >:(

She is married and has a baby (by ceasarian section pa)......I pause and look to where am at in life, and she makes me feel like a totally useless loser! ;D I so adore this woman!

I find it funny that Caroyln has to  look grim just like her boss when they're at the boardroom.

Just a question: does The Donald have a bodyguard??? I haven't seen him with one on the show.

And, well, what do you know? Ivana Trump, his ex-wife, is set to host her own reality dating show!

The reaction so far to her [Carolyn Kempcher]? "Well, I'm getting some crazy reaction. It's very funny. People come up to me and say, 'You look just like that girl from The Apprentice.' "

Trump hired her the minute he met her during a property deal. "He's great. I've known him for almost 10 years, and after 10 years I still have a smile on my face. He's very demanding, very articulate. Every day is a new challenge."

Although she has had to juggle the show, along with running the golf clubs and finding time for her family (a husband, two young children and a home in Connecticut), she's ready for Apprentice's Round 2, too. Next season, she says, expect "perhaps some harder tasks." But don't expect a change in her attire, which was described by People magazine as "extra-prim": "I have to come across as very serious."

And in a dig to the female contestants who wore short skirts and high heels, she says, "Somebody in the boardroom had to wear business attire."

Yup, he has some Secret Service looking men around him. You wouldn't notice it though coz the camera rarely catches them and the players mostly meet The Donald in a crowded place in NY, so the bodyguards would be in the crowd.

But there was once instance where they were in a lonely street corner and Trump came out of his limo and a couple of Men in Black were seen in the background.

Carolyn looks a little like Lady Diana. And George looks young for a 70+ year old man.

i cannot believe that Carolyn's only 35! she looks so much older! (and you're right Cruz, a dead-ringer for Lady Di).

this show's my favorite Burnett production so far (they're in a rat race in the real and reel sense. i love it!). these people are playing for careers and not just 15 minutes of fame. Survivor lost its edge after season 3 for me so i really hope Apprentice doesn't lose its steam that quickly.

I was very surprised that The Donald chose to start the second season still dividing the teams into all-girls/all-boys. Fortunately, last week had a task that couldn't be won in any way by sex appeal. I hope this week's task is also non gender-biased.

OMG Carolyn is on fire in Season 2! Some due to editing, but regardless, she is one tough woman! One rule has been changed this season and it's a shocker in Episode 2 :o. Ganun pala magalit si Trump.  I'm hooked to The Apprentice. This is really "Survivor for contestants with brains". ;)

Post by: Mr. Hankey on Sep 18, 2004 at 11:15 PM
That was a really stupid firing, don't you think? The person deserved praise for the guts and skills, not to be fired!

Makes me think how arbitrary the results of show can be. It's also a la Survivor. You can be fired for doing nothing really wrong.
Title: Re: The Apprentice on abc-5
Post by: CrUzSACK on Sep 19, 2004 at 01:50 PM
Trump's learning the Mark Burnet formula for reality TV: shock value = ratings.  ;D I didn't think it was a stupid move for Trump to fire the one person least expected to be fired, s/he allowed her/himself to be vulnerable. It was a stupid move for the Project Manager though....dead woman walking... ;D

I'm surprised that Trump didn't name his show Trumps' Apprentice.  He names everything he owns with a "Trump"....Trump Tower, Trump Taj Majal, Trump Water (what's it called?), Trump Air...Trump this and that. ::)

Really? As an employer, would you have fired the same person for that reason alone?
Title: Re: The Apprentice on abc-5
Post by: CrUzSACK on Sep 19, 2004 at 09:04 PM
In the game, probably yes. ;D

I'll put spoiler tags na lang....

Admittedly the person delivered what was needed to be delivered, he was good, but he let his guard down. He forgot that it was a job interview first, and then game, second. Didn't he say in the taxi confessional, he wanted to get to the good side of the other team members so he'd stay longer, that's why he gave up his immunity? He really didn't have to do that, he was already on the good side -- he performed the task well naman eh. Kaso malas niya, medyo lipad-utak nung project manager niya and included him in the Board Room.

It's not a bad decision I suppose, it's okay to play hero naman in the game or get carried away and step up. It shows you have heart and compassion. But by doing that, he forgot one thing, and that is to make an impression on the 3 judges (Trump, Lolo George and Kick Ass Carolyn). And they're tough people to please, you never know. G & C probably didn't see it coming too, I was shocked myself but on hindsight....oo nga naman, kampante kasi masyado.

IRL, some business deals are lost because of being kampante...

But let's wait and see the Extended Boardroom episode, maybe Trump was really being too hard on him when he fired him....or maybe, it's Mark Burnett's School of Reality TV, who knows Bradley may be back in the next episodes as a twist. ;D

I know though that Ivana will not win this game. For one....the name. ;D  And for this project, she's showed that she's all theory and formulas and hypothesis (may chart pa siya! ;D), but no action. She'd make a good assistant, someone I'd want to be jotting down notes in the boardroom for me . But she will not make a good leader.

Donald Trump = Sore Loser

From Access Hollywood: "I think I was robbed. Everybody in that room thought The Apprentice was going to win and, as you know, the viewership was down for the Emmys. I really feel like they lost credibility. (The Amazing Race is) an okay show that doesn't do nearly the ratings (The Apprentice does), and that doesn't have the acclaim."

I call on all TAR/Apprentice fans to boycott The Apprentice in protest!  ::)

^ Kapal naman ni Trump. I guess if we follow his logic then the Oscars should be about who gets the highest box-office receipts and the Grammys should be about who sells the most albums..  ::)

I guess he hasn't learned the art of losing gracefully (clap for the winner and smile and nod as if to say "yeah, I knew they'd win, they deserve it")  Colin could probably teach him a thing or two.. ;D
Title: Re: The Apprentice
Post by: CrUzSACK on Sep 23, 2004 at 05:34 AM
Oooh...yabang. >:( In his disappointment, baka bilhin niya Emmy's and rename it to Trump's Emmy's. ;D Or with his billions of money, gumawa na lang kaya siya ng sarili niyang Awards Show.

But really, the Reality TV genre should have a separate awards show now, what with all these shows popping up on every tv slot there is. Then do something ala MTV Movie Awards:  Best Villain, Best Moment, Best Alliance blah blah...

Buti pa si Simon Cowell, when asked about TAR's win he said, "I guess they have a better show" or something like that and kept his mouth shut.

I have another reason to hope that TAR wins the Emmy's again next year.

SPOILER, SEASON 2!

He's pretty mean coz the girls were horrible. I'd say, bring more of that in the succeeding boardrooms!

This second season, the atmosphere has changed from "Survivor for Contestants with Brains" to "Big Brother in the Corporate World". It's just so nasty. Bickering "professionals" in business suits acting like students from an exclusive all-girls high school. ::)

I don't think Trump will win the Emmy's next year. I so hope not! >:(

And what's with the emperor music thing in the background...when he enters the scene and meets with the group? Wala ata nung first season yun? Is that his signature song, ala Darth Vader? Everytime he comes into the scene, may emperor-type music. It's not grand, which I think they'd want to project.....in fact, it's too funny in a really, really pathetic way. ;D

Survivor Vanuatu's become the least interesting of the Survivor installments and now this.....Mark Burnett's ideas are now.....well, broken.

You know, I very quickly lost interest in this show, considering I just saw and loved Season One a few weeks ago.

You're right. This has turned into a b**ch-fest. And I think the main problem is, last year, most of the contestants actually wanted and needed the job. It seems this year, they're mostly in it for their 15 minutes of fame.

Case in point: The second person evicted. In an interview she/he said that winning The Apprentice 2 and getting the $250,000 a year salary would have been a HUGE pay cut, compared to his/her current earnings.

So why join in the first place, di ba?

Gumagaan na download schedule ko...  ;D

Visible spoiler ahead:

I like the twist of last week's episode - when it came down to the final two, instead of bringing in the closest runners up to help them with the final task, as they have in the past...

They brought in the most dysfunctional/psychotic contestants from the season!  ;D

You gotta hand it to Mark Burnett - that's a brilliant twist to make for good TV!

I just watched the penultimate episode, where the final two faced off in their last task.

Wow, I've never seen such a clear winner between two finalists. It's very similar to Brian versus Clay the Cockroach on Survivor: Thailand. It'll be the shock of the year if Trump chooses the other way on live TV next week.

I'm surprised at the behavior of one of the finalists, though. Unprofessional and petty are the only words for it. Okay, maybe "pathetic," too.

Bring on the next installment! This show is back.  :)

The new season starts tonight.

The Apprentice 5 (http://www.nbc.com/The_Apprentice_5/index.shtml#main)

Compared to the Tana vs. Kendra season, last season's Randal vs. Rebecca final showdown was tense.

I know this show is getting tiresome but I still end up watching, just like Survivor.  :P

Just found out. One contestant is a Filipina, Charmaine (http://www.realitytvcalendar.com/shows/apprentice5/bios/charmaine.html)

I've heard of a gracious loser, but I think that was the first non-gracious winner I've seen. Definitely the closest two contestants ever came in a final task from my point of view.

On to Season 5... although I doubt I'll be able to catch up in time for tonight's finale.  ;D

This was the worst final four ever. We could not root for anyone in the final two. Perhaps the best thing to happen this season was Ivanka Trump! She's hot!  :P
Title: Re: The Apprentice
Post by: Mr. Hankey on Jun 06, 2006 at 09:17 PM
I don't know, I was rooting for the British guy since Day One, so I'm not completely disappointed in the final four. Not too fond of the other three, especially the conniving girls, but my other choices were fired much earlier in the season.

Random thoughts:

1. Based on Seasons 4 and 5, it seems George is spending as little time possible with the show. Bill Rancic is in far more episodes than George in these last two seasons. Is George retiring from the Trump Organization soon?

2. I was laughing at the first Board Room firing in Season 5, since it looked like it was Orlando Bloom vs. Grace Adler.

3. While Ivanka is hot, it's not quite right to have her and Don as The Donald's aides. He tends to listen more to them and not follow his gut, which was more entertaining and surprising in the past.

4. Didn't the Russian and the fat lawyer seem like moles planted in order to spice things up? I can't see how you can choose people as bizarre and incompetent as them otherwise.

On with the show...  ;D

Come to think of it, he's the best choice among the poor roster but he didn't impress me with his leadership and especially his presentation skills.

Oh come on, how can you not love the guy who came up with the funniest line of the season:

"You know what, Synergy? The cast of Dynasty just called, they want their shoulder pads back! My god, it was horrendous!"  ;D

I'm still laughing now at BOTH the finalists choices for their three team mates. One chose the tall redhead with the superiority complex, Orlando Bloom with ADD, and the hot girl with no taste who he just happens to have a crush on, while the other chose the stubborn Russian, the two-faced black girl, and Pepi!  ;D

That's right. The fashion show a la Project Runway.  ;D Lee may have been the PM there but it was Sean's so-called metrosexuality that won them the task.

Caroline was hilarious there. Trump doesn't even remember firing poor Pepi.  ;D
Title: Re: The Apprentice
Post by: Mr. Hankey on Jun 13, 2006 at 10:36 PM
After watching the execution of the final tasks, no one deserved to win. The celebrities were treated quite poorly in the hockey match, mostly because of the Russian guy and the PM's lack of organizational skills, while British guy neglected vital parts of his task in order to flirt.

I think the break until January will do the show good. But the move to L.A. concerns me: Considering their jobs are NY-based, will George and Caroline move to the West Coast for the duration of the season? It seems unlikely, as George is old and Caroline has young children. I like what they bring to the show, and I wouldn't want to watch "The Trump Family & Bill Rancic Board Room" on a permanent basis.

Despite her "excessive self promotion," The Donald should have known that Carolyn was an integral part of his dying TV show, and should've kept her if only for the sake of that venture.

I suppose his ego couldn't accept her popularity. He's the guy audiences watch and mock for being himself, while she's the one people watch and actually admire on the show.

"Who's Pepi???"

New Season begins January 7th on NBC.

Other than the setting being Los Angeles, there are other twists:

"The Apprentice" moves to Southern California for season six of the unscripted series, leaving Manhattan for the first time in the history of the show. Trump will once again do the firing - and the hiring - as 18 enterprising candidates vie for the coveted title of "The Apprentice" and the career opportunity of a lifetime working for the legendary business tycoon.

Along with the new Southern California backdrop comes a whole new series of surprising twists and turns that will make this the liveliest and most challenging competition yet among candidates eager to become the next "Apprentice."

In a compelling social experiment of haves and have nots, contestants this season will have to earn the right to live like Trump. Each week, the contestants on the winning team will get to live in a luxurious mansion. But contestants on the losing team will have to sleep outside in tents in the back yard of the mansion with outdoor showers and port-a-potties, giving contestants more incentive than ever to win their tasks each week.

In another engaging new twist, the winning project manager each week will remain project manager until they lose, plus they will also sit in the boardroom and help advise Trump on who he should fire each week from their opposing team. Ivanka and Donald Trump Jr. will return for several episodes, along with previous "Apprentice" winners, as boardroom advisors to their father.

I don't know. Carolyn was integral of the show for me. And the board room scene in the preview didn't feature George, either. Just Ivanka and Bill Rancic.  ::)

I'll still give it a shot, though...

Saw the first four episodes. Only got interesting after the fourth one. It's a train wreck of a season... and I'm glued.  ;D

Glad I stuck around throughout the whole season so far. I thought the boardroom this season could be the show's best (among all six seasons). I also guess that it was the first time that the final four all came from the same original team.

Yeah, I enjoyed that it was the people initially perceived as the underdogs that ended up in the Final Four.

I liked Trump's choice. I had no idea why the opposing pair was even there - the girl should've been fired during the previous Las Vegas task, and the guy was just lacking in refinement for an executive position.

It was great to see George on the show. Ivanka did a kick-ass job (though we didn't see her that often), but George's composed, fatherly demeanor was missed. And despite my statement above regarding Carolyn... I didn't miss her in the least this season. I guess it's true. She was entertaining to watch, but ultimately not really vital to have.

At the end of the show, I noticed Trump said "We'll see you soon," not "We'll see you next season." Between that and the show's ratings this year, I guess that makes it almost official that the show's been cancelled.

Renewal seems possible. The finale this season was No.1 with NBC's target audience of 18- to 49-year-olds and turned in the highest rating with that crowd since Jan. 28 (http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv/2007/04/24/2007-04-24_trump_gets_a_bump_but_will_nbc_rehire_hi.html).

Mark Burnett says the show has always been relatively inexpensive to produce and if NBC were not interested to continue airing the franchise, he'd readily pitch it to another network.

Although Stefani is the first winner not to have become a project manager (more because of the stupid rule this season), I think she is also the first winner not to have been brought back to the boardroom until the finale.

Trump's ego has dictated that since The Apprentice wasn't on NBC's new season line up, they can't fire him, since he quit!  ;D

‘You can’t fire me, I quit,’ says Trump to NBC (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18746527)

That's really funny, since didn't he and Don Jr. actually tell someone who quit during a boardroom last season that a quitter was basically the most pathetic kind of loser that they had absolutely no respect for?  ::)

 ;D

And six weeks later, it's now apparently been saved from cancellation.

The networks are going crazy with revoked cancellations these days.

The 'final' installment is said to be a celebrity edition. They should have gotten past contestants instead of celebrities. Rosie was invited to join but obviously, declined the offer.  ;D

Trump is back this week for a second round of Celebrity Apprentice. And lots of drama from the first episode alone.

Also, Brande Roderick is hot! Hope she stays for a while. Makes me wanna dig up some old magazines. ;D

Definitely. Didn't see that coming since she was less outspoken during the task and the boardroom. Was rooting for Jesse since the start of the show but his behavior towards Clint, of whom I'm not fond, turned me off. I think Annie deserves to win. Shades of Piers Morgan.

Also rooting for Jesse. His behavior was a turn off but I kinda understand where that attitude was coming from. He's been so low key the whole time and, finally, here's a task where he can really show his mettle. The arrogance though is that he wanted everyone to follow his idea. Nevertheless, he's the breakout star of this season mainly because he had the most memorable one-liners. :)

Trump picking Rivers was bleh. She did win in the task by acing three of the five criteria. But I think Duke was, overall, the better performing contestant.

true, duke was ruthless, and played the game really well. if the competition is based on just results, without any care on how the game was played, then yes, duke should have won. but no, it's based on trump's ego. so rivers got it. :p

The cast of The Celebrity Apprentice 3 has been revealed:

(http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/7948/thecelebrityapprentice3.jpg) (http://img30.imageshack.us/i/thecelebrityapprentice3.jpg/)

Darryl Strawberry, former MLB all-star
Bret Michaels, Poison frontman and VH1 Reality TV star
Bill Goldberg, two-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion
Michael Johnson, Olympic track and field gold medalist
Rod Blagojevich, former Illinois governor
Sinbad, comedian
Curtis Stone, TV chef
Cyndi Lauper, singer and songwriter
Sharon Osbourne, wife of Ozzy Osbourne and Reality TV star
Holly Robinson Peete, actress and children's book author
Selita Ebanks, Victoria's Secret model
Maria Kanellis, WWE wrestler
Carol Leifer, comedian, writer and producer
Summer Sanders, Olympic swimming gold medalist

The show starts on NBC on March 14th. I'm a bit concerned that Ivanka isn't in the group shot. She's a big part of what makes the show entertaining, I hope she's still in it this year.

Go Cyndi Lauper!  ;D
