Title: Point Pleasant
Post by: AshKetchum on Jan 19, 2005 at 07:06 PM
FOX recently premiered a new drama series titled Point Pleasant, about a sleepy, picturesque small town in New Jersey that's about to get a wake-up call when the body of a young girl is washed on one of its beaches. Rescued by some lifeguards, the girl named Christina is taken in by a kind family, but soon some pretty strange stuff is going on at Point Pleasant--because Christina is no ordinary girl; she's actually the daughter of Satan.

Hmm...the premise is very interesting for an ongoing series; and from the description alone it sounds like a mix of previous other FOX shows like The O.C., The X-Files, and even Melrose Place. The show's creator are John McLaughlin and Marti Noxon (who fans will no doubt remember from Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

The pilot airs on FOX tonight after American Idol.

I'm looking forward to this show, but am disturbed that Marti Noxon is in negotiations to add James Marsters to the cast. Must they always cast this guy in every series they do since Buffy was cancelled?

i got to see the premier last night and it was interesting. Since christina is a daughter of a satan, she possessed powers and uses it to get what she wants. It will be on again tonight as its original wednesday viewing.

I saw the fox pilot. A possibility of a short lived season for this series. Not that strong, its like a B-Movie extended to a TV series.

This is not yet final though, who knows they might strenghten the plot as episodes goes by

Any further news on this show? I saw a teaser of it on Studio 23. No dates yet though.

Really in danger of cancellation, due to dismal ratings.

"Given its nasty bloodbath of a time slot (Thursday nights at 9 p.m.) Point Pleasant's low ratings (four million viewers) aren't surprising, but they are unfortunate, given the series' recent creative uptick. 'It's heartbreaking, creator and executive producer Marti Noxon (formerly of Buffy) told me. 'We feel like we've really found our footing in the later episodes, and the show is sort of fading out...I'm not sure whether I'm supposed to say stuff like this, but I certainly think our chances of coming back are pretty slim if the ratings don't pick up. We need fresh eyes.'"

And now, it's been cancelled in the States already, with several unaired episodes.

I guess I'll try to catch them when they air on Studio 23.

Does anyone know what happened to this (on Studio 23)? Are they still going to show it? I don't see the ad anymore.

My guess is that its premiere was bumped by Studio 23's acquisition of Desperate Housewives, but that's purely conjecture. The "Coming Soon" plugs stopped when they started hyping Housewives.

Finally a timeslot. The show will be aired on Tuesdays 9:10pm starting Sept. 6. What's weird though is that this is Smallville's timeslot and it still has 6 episodes left. Maybe it's replacing Angel instead? Not sure.
