Tower Records and Music One Greenbelt will be holding their 2005 Summer Mega Sale starting this Friday, May 27, to Sunday, May 29. Discounts on CDs, VCDs, and DVDs.

Great news... this is probably the first time tower alabang will be holding its first ever legitimate sale. with regards to the CDs. is it like a 10% discount on everything? or selected items only on sale?

correction po. only tower records makati and music one greenbelt will have a sale on most vcds, selected dvds and cds from May 27 to 29, 2005 (10-12am). video titles on sale will be similar to the previous sale in rockwell, podium and mega.

too bad tower alabang will not be part of the sale. siguro kasi maliit ung puwesto nila. hindi maaacommodate ung mga hoardes of DVD buyers from the south.
but still, will be in makati this friday so might as well take a look at the things on sale. sana carnivale is on sale for 1100. :)

just came back from tower records glorietta....was there at around 5pm....went there to represent the very much disappointed southeners!!!....anyways, ubos na naman funds ko ( no eating out for 2 weeks?)....got me an ecclectic bunch of dvds:

I didn't know about the sale but I happened to pass by Music 1 GB during lunch time today. Good thing for me since I was able to get Bro Bear R1 @ 333. ;D

I was only able to buy the Indiana Jones boxed set for P1200 from Tower Records. Suki ko sana Astro pero mas marami sa Tower and Music One. Top Gun 2-discs is indeed sold for P350 in Tower and shared the same price with the single-disc, non-anamorphic version. Nakakatawa pa nga kasi sa original price, TG 2-discs sells for P895 while TG single-disc sells for P899. Whoa! :o They really got their pricing wrong kahit sa orig price. Alam ko sa iba P750 lang iyong single-disc. I was looking forward for any new titles but so far wala pa rin. Kahit Spider-man 2 na P450 na sa Robinson's sale eh hindi kasama sa sale ngayon. Hopefully, next time kasama na Incredibles, Kung-Fu Hustle and National Treasure.

Great sale at Music One, with the rains pa to match, parang tiangge. Its kinda cool to shop at music because of the hip music in the background nakakagana lalo. Sa Podium at Astrovision, movies pa rin ang background kaye redundant :) Got these:

Dami pa sana, pero I had to reign in. Many great values like those 2-disc superbit titles at only P450. And those special boxed titles from Warner. The best values are those warner old films at P275. Couldn't resist getting the Amadeus director's cut due to its added 30 minutes of deleted footage with one eye candy that was not in the theatrical version. ;D
These titles should make me busy until the release of Star Wars III or the next mega-sale. ;D
As they say, good things come to those who wait. In this hobby, patience has its rewards. Saw the much awaited 2-disc Schindler's List title at Tower priced at P1,500 and had to control myself. I can wait again and hope this goes on sale for P450 next time. ;D
There's just one trade off. Some titles that I want and waited for their sale were nowhere on this sale. Like the 2-disc special edition Close Encounters, E.T., Gone With The Wind, X-men 1.5, Quest For Camelot animation on warner, Superbit Crouching Tiger, and Alien or its box set.

I agree, hopefully they will extend longer. I was with my kids and some guest from the US that is why Matrix lang yung nakuha ko at medyo nagmamadali and magsasara na din sila. Sana magkaroon ng sale like this more often. I think doing this also will stop the problem of piracy ;D

yeah. i second the motion. they should retain the prices. Warner has really great titles. Kudos to Warner, keep it up. And to MusicOne and Tower Glorietta. Keep it up. Hopefully the next time you guys hold a DVD Sale, will be here in Alabang. For us, south of the metro.

I was there this afternoon and once again, the flesh proved itself stronger than the mind. I ended up buying the 2nd & 3rd seasons of Smallville. Kahit walang stock and season 1, hindi ko napigilan bumili. I'm afraid that there might come a time mapasama na ako sa DVDphile version ng Alcoholics Anonymous. :o

I was lucky I bought my Smallville box sets last Friday. P1100 pa sila noong Friday sa Tower but when I checked this afternoon, P1200 na. Napasama yata iyong sabi ko sa kanila last Friday na mas mura Smallville nila compared to Music One and Astro Glorietta. Ultimate Matrix ang dami pa kahit sa O Greenbelt where it's still sold for P1700.

Unfortunately, Disney titles are not included in the current sale. :( Puro sa Warner lang yata ang sale ngayon and not all. I tried to convinced the Warner lady in Astro Glorietta to include The Lost Boys 2-disc in the sale but no such luck. Other titles outside of Warner are still selling at their regular prices.

Tip ko lang na bago nyo bilhin dvd tignan nyo muna feature like is it Widescreen, May DTS ba ito, sometimes 2 disk ba ito, lalong OK. Sometime di naka indicate sa front ng DVD kung Widescreen sya at 2 disk. Be wise in buying your dvd wag lang basta sale kaya nyo bibilhin mas maganda gusto nyo rin yung movie or wala ka pa nun. And lastly sa dami ng mga titles na gusto mo ma eexcite ka talaga dahil mura think your priority first before paying at the counter para di ka magsisi pag nabili mo na. Sayang ang pera pwede pa naman yang ipunin para sa coming big sale. Abangan!!!!!

Don't buy the P299 and P199 DVDs. Some of the info in the case aren't the ones on the disc. Notebook for example says it has DTS pero wala. So Close says it has english audio pero mandarin and cantonese lang with english subtitles. Kaya beware >:(

Eto na naman tayo. After the sales or pagkatapos mabili ang dvd ayan na ipo post na mga karainingan sa nabiling dvd. Well OK din namang tips yung mga na eexperience natin para di na rin ma ulit pa sa susunod. There are various reason kaya naka sale ang mga dvd ngayon regardless of DVD condition.

Tip: you can always ask the salesperson sa stores (any) to open the DVD in front of them so that you can check the quality and condition of the discs and have it replaced immediately kung sakaling may problema. do this para di na kayo pabalik balik.

I did'nt know na pwede pa lang i request sa store kung di ka sigurado. Ang alam ko pwedeng i open kung sigurado kang kukunin mo or pag nabayaran mo na. Thank for the tips

Tried Wimbledon (Full Screen) on my Pioneer DVD player. Ayaw mag play. Wala namang gasgas. Tried P-DVDs ayaw din pero all of my originals it plays. Hmmm....makes me think that the P299 discs have now the same quality as P-DVDs. ???

Bought $20 original DVDs from HMV HK. If I play them on my pioneer, the video breaks up. Not so on my cheap player. We get what we pay for ? ;D

It's a good idea to check out Tower Records once in a while. They put out good titles on sale especially the boxed sets, that you cannot find in, let's say, Astrovision. I got the Godfather Collection and the Ultimate Matrix at a budget-friendly price--as much as 30% off. Too bad I still don't have time to watch any of my recent purchases.
