4. Three Kings
3. X-Men
2. Terminater 2: The Ultimate Edition

The Rock (better get the Criterion Edition) would give your system a real good work out.

All of it of course, just boils down to opinion and personal preferences, but if it was me, these would be the next 4 DVDs that has to absolutely be in my collection (they already are except one). And these are chosen because they make really good use of the capabilities of the format.

Gladiator, T2: Ultimate Edition, Fight Club, Matrix (any collection should have one!!)

Medyo biased ako sa mga blockbuster/cartoon movies eh...

Independence Day ... ganda ng features...
Bug's life 2 disc set....grabe!!!
Matrix... its a MUST!!!!!!

"lahat ng movies ni kevin smith!  "

Yeah, Randall!! :)  I actually just watched Chasing Amy last night and I thought it was really great. Being an "inker" in comics,  the opening scenes strike closer to home than anything else. I would have been offended because it just wasn't true, but I ended up laughing nevertheless.

The rest of the movie was far better than I expected, and pushed a lot of buttons that weren't pushed before.  I liked it. It made me think long and hard about things I never thought before.

Ha! Ha! No.  It's too long winded to explain here.  The best thing to do is to just show you a comparison drawing of artwork in pencils and inks side by side. I think I have a sample of it on this page:

welcome sa napakagastos na hobby na ito. (I'm just a newbie sa collecting pero I've been a home theatre afficionado since 1994). What's your system like?

Post by: kakabanas on Apr 27, 2001 at 06:00 AM
Noel,

I would have to say go with Saving Private Ryan and The Matrix. The first 30 minutes alone of SPR would really make you appreciate your sound system. So far, these two are the only ones that really made use of the surround system to the fullest in my opinion.

Far third and fourth would have to be True Lies and Jurassic Park.

I can't think of a fifth one yet .. but I'll let you think when I come up with something  ;)

I agree with you. In fact, stores that specializes in speakers and/or receivers use the "alien singing an opera" as their test. According to them, that is the best test if the system will deliver crisp, clear sound without any unwanted noise. This will be my fifth choice .. the Fifth Element.  ;)

Regarding the Fifth Element, the best version is the R2 one. It has "Searching for the Fifth Element," a documentary which is 22 minutes.  Sadly, before I knew about this I already ordered the R1 version.  Luc Besson is one of my favorite directors; I'll watch everything he puts out, wished I knew French though.

Ooh yeah.  And wait till you hear it in Dolby 5.1.  The Omaha bay scene is probably the most spectacular 5.1 show I've watched so far.  :)

Let me add to mut-haves:  The Abyss: Special Edition Director's Cut.  Buy it for the documentary, if not for the movie.

Hmmm.. I still think there's more blood and intestines splattered all over my television screen in SPR than Starship Troopers. I like Starship though for being campy ... and that lead actor (forgot his name) there is so delicious. I could just eat him with a spoon.  ;)

That would be Casper Van Diem.

I never thought of Saving Private Ryan as a gorefest, mostly because I was in sheer, quaking mortal terror for those 25 minutes of the Omaha Beach landing scene.  I remember watching it at SM Megamall and being amazed because I saw families with young children (5-12 years old) watching this movie.  I was thinking that if I'd watched that scene as a child, I'd be scarred for life.

Also, I recall that sequence where a G.I. gets grazed on his helmet by a bullet, and then when he removes his helmet to gape in amazement at where the bullet grazed him, that's when he gets struck in the bare head by a German bullet.  That sequence sticks in my mind because many people in the theater actually laughed out loud.  I remember thinking, "how in God's name could anyone find that man's death funny?"

To this day, I cannot re-view that opening sequence of Saving Private Ryan.  The impact is too great, I feel like I'll have a heart attack.  All those hundreds of young men struck down in seconds.  It's so sad.

Yes, that's his name. Casper Van Delicious  ;D

I never said SPR is a gorefest. I was just describing what I saw. In fact, I always get chills whenever I watch the first 30 minutes of it. It is a very powerful movie that illustrates a very ugly side of the war .. of any war.  :'(

The first DVD I got for my collection was Saving Private Ryan, I got it mainly to test my current system's capabilities and see what's all the hoopla about DTS vs. 5.1.  It has been a month since I got the DVD, but believe it or not I still haven't finished watching the movie.  The opening scene was just too much and I couldn't get beyond it.  Just too nerve wracking for me, I guess!  :'(

Don't worry since the best part of the movie is the
1st 28 mins. then it just slows down in the middle but it picks up again in the last 28 mins.

Wow gets, that's a tough choice.  I have seen everything on your list except Krzysztof Kieslowski's The Decalogue.  However, based on the praise I've read about the latter, it seems to be on a different level of artistry than the others on your list.  It would depend on how big a Kieslowski fan you are.

Of the others, I would definitely pick up The Sopranos first, X-Files Season 3 second, with the Superman Collection last.  In my case, I already have The Sopranos, and I have X-Files Season 3 on order.  Being an X-Files fan, I also have seasons 1 and 2, and intend on collecting them all (I already have the original TV broadcasts taped for me by my sisters in the US, pero iba siyempre yung DVD copy, diba?).

X-Files is a great show, but The Sopranos rocks from beginning to end.  I started a thread on it here in the DVD Discussion a couple of weeks back, check it out.

oops. i bought the superman boxed set first.($49.99?) and due to inavailability of funds, i bought the sopranos after finding a good enough deal($60.74) which was $18 cheaper than the cheapest X-files season 3 set i could find.

I have only read about decalogue and i would like to be able to identify and associate each movie with its specific commandment... that would be nice.. but that would have to wait...

Silence of the Lambs: Criterion
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Labyrinth
Fifth Element

Just a note - the best version of Fifth Element is the R2 one, as it has more extras.  (better that the R1 or even R4 versions.)

My bad ! Right after I posted this, I found an article saying the video quality of R1 is better:

However, well at least the R2 still has more extras.

BENTLY's message went something like this:

The Superman DVD is a must by. I'm not sure about buying the whole collection since the rest aren't special editions.

I was then supposed to post this reply:

A little trivia : Did you know that The Shawshank Redemption was one of the novellas in Stephen King's Different Seasons ? It was called 'Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption' in the book. The horrible movie but great novella Apt Pupil was also in this book. And Stand By Me, another great coming-of-age movie was one of the novellas called 'The Body'. I am still waiting for some screenplay writer to make the last novella, The Breathing Method. The novellas appear in the book in this order representing Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. For me, this book is Stephen King's best.

Hi kakabanas!  I agree, Different Seasons was good, and Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption was my favorite novella in it.  But I liked King's The Shining better -- his most frightening story ever -- and The Stand (let's all just try to forget the godawful mini-series adaptation starring *gasp* Molly Ringwald, Miss Pretty in Pink herself.)

No doubt that The Shining was his most frightening ... but as a writer, Different Seasons showed his other side, not of a suspense-horror writer. Imagine what he would have accomplished if he didn't stick to horror stories? But for now, his legacy would be of that ...

Yup, I agree, THE MATRIX is should be in any DVD
Collection.
To me the must have DVD's are (in no particular
order)
1. X-Men (you have to see the cool Spiderman cameo)
2. The Matrix
3. Excalibur (not very good visually, but hey it
contains the best theatrical version of the Arthurian legends, not to mention cameos of Patrick Stewart, Liam Neeson, and Gabriel Byrne, before they
became international stars)
4. Sting-The Brand New Day Tour (if there is one
concert DVD you must have, this is it)
5. Superman The Movie Special Edition (To me the
most loaded single disk DVD ever)
6. The Ten Commandments
7. Blade Runner

This one (if you get the 1 disc version) is probably the most packed DVD out there yet. 10. Saving Private Ryan (Collector's Ed.- for the extras, i mean i like this because i am into special features)
11. Toy Story Ultimate Toy Box (lots of extras)
12. Superman Complete Collection (though 3 & 4 are not worth getting, no collector wants to have an incomplete collection)
13. A Bug's Life (Collector's Ed)
14. U-571 (Collector's Ed. - to test that system for floor-shaking explosions)
15. Das Boot (Code 2, better than code 1 as this is non-flipper, PAL picture is sharper, for the movie same as U-571)
16. Braveheart (1 of my favorite movie)
17. Se7en: Platinum Series (1 of my favorite movie)
18. Sound of Music (5 star collection - i remember watching this at Sta. Cruz when i was young, and now 1 of my daughter's favorite movie)
19. Jurassic Park (Collector's Ed. - morning movie of my daughter... "daddy dinosaur pls...")
20. Roughnecks: The Starship Troopers Chronicles (looks like you're playing the Mechwarrior in PC)
21. Gladiator (best buy 2-disc dvd)
22. Eagles: Hell Freezes Over (DTS code 4, same  content as code 1 but cheaper, and PAL picture is sharper - can be considerd music DTS demo disc)

from what i discovered, they now only have the 1 disc version (DVD-18). They only used the 2-disc version during the 1st release due to high demand for the title and DVD-18 was out of stock that time.

i even read that the 2-disc version is now a collector's item, and they have nice art covers.

sayang!!! i sold my other copy (2-disc version) and kept the DVD-18. my fault, i should have opened them both.

i just watched james cameron's THE ABYSS special edition 2 disk set
and the extra features on this dvd blows away any other dvd's i've seen including T2 U.E.
even if this film is older than deep blue sea w/c is about 12 years...
the special effects on this movie is truly amazing!

another reason to see this dvd is the additional 28 min. footage that was added to the theatrical
version that added another sub-plot to the movie.

i've probably spent another 2 hours just going through the extra features w/c i have not yet finished, (since in my excitement i felt that i had to post this:)
but it really got my interest and respect in creating underwater movies.

if you want to read more of the added features on this dvd...
heres a link that gives a brief feedback on the added features:
http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?id=492

or better yet just buy or rent this dvd! you will not regret it! ;)

SPR in R1 comes in two versions, DD or DTS.  There's a 25 min  documentary  present in the DD one and omitted in the DTS version.

if you have the chance to get the double disk T2 ultimate, get it. since the single disc version is a flipper, wala syang artwork na nasa 2 disc version...  SPR:if ur planning to upgrade to a DTS system, get the DTS, if you'll stay DD, get the DD, may extra features sya na wala sa DTS

I don't think they're going to produce the 2-disc version anymore since the producers really intended the Ultimate T2 to be a DVD-18 disc.  They produced the 2-disc version because the DVD manufacturing plants didn't have enough capacity to produce all the double-sided two-layered disc in time for the street date because they underestimated the demand. So the 2-disc set came out as a stop gap measure and so I think my 2-disc Ultimate T2 is now a COLLECTOR'S ITEM!!!!   ;D  ;D  ;D

Elephant Love Song Medley

(Ewan McGregor:)
Love is many a splendored thing
Love lift us up where we belong
All you need is love
(Nicole Kidman:)
Please don't start that again
(Ewan McGregor:)
All you need is love
(Nicole Kidman:)
A girl has got to eat
(Ewan McGregor:)
All you need is love
(Nicole Kidman:)
Or she'll end up on the streets
(Ewan McGregor:)
All you need is love
(Nicole Kidman:)
Love is just a game
(Ewan McGregor:)
I was made for loving for you baby, you were made for loving me
(Nicole Kidman:)
The only way of loving me baby is to pay a lovely fee
(Ewan McGregor:)
Just one night give me just one night
(Nicole Kidman:)
There's no way 'cause you can't pay
(Ewan McGregor:)
In the name of love
One night in the name of love
(Nicole Kidman:)
You crazy fool
I won't give in to you
(Ewan McGregor:)
Don't leave me this way
I can't survive without your sweet love, oh baby
Don't leave me this way
(Nicole Kidman:)
You'd think the people
Would've had enough
Of silly love songs
(Ewan McGregor:)
I look around me and I see
It isn't so (Ha ha) no
(Nicole Kidman:)
Some people
Wanna fill the world
With silly love songs
(Ewan McGregor:)
Well what's wrong with that
I'd like to know
'Cause here I go, yeah
Love lift us up
Where we belong
Where eagles fly
Over mountain high
(Nicole Kidman:)
Love makes us act
Like we are fools
Throw our lives away
For one happy day
(Ewan McGregor:)
We could be heroes
Just for one day
(Nicole Kidman:)
You, you will be mean
(Ewan McGregor:)
No I won't
(Nicole Kidman:)
And I
I'll drink all the time
(Ewan McGregor:)
We should be lovers
(Nicole Kidman:)
We can't do that
(Ewan McGregor:)
We should be lovers
And that's a fact
(Nicole Kidman:)
Though nothing
Will keep us together
(Ewan McGregor:)
We could steal time
Just for one day
(Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman:)
We could be heroes
Forever and ever
We could be heroes
Forever and ever
We could be heroes
(Ewan McGregor:)
Just because
I will always love you
(Nicole Kidman:)
And I
(Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman:)
Can't help loving
(Ewan McGregor:)
You
(Nicole Kidman:)
How wonderful life is
(Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman:)
Now you're in the world

i just watched james cameron's THE ABYSS special edition 2 disk set
and the extra features on this dvd blows away any other dvd's i've seen including T2 U.E.
even if this film is older than deep blue sea w/c is about 12 years...
the special effects on this movie is truly amazing!

another reason to see this dvd is the additional 28 min. footage that was added to the theatrical
version that added another sub-plot to the movie.

i've probably spent another 2 hours just going through the extra features w/c i have not yet finished, (since in my excitement i felt that i had to post this:)
but it really got my interest and respect in creating underwater movies.

if you want to read more of the added features on this dvd...
heres a link that gives a brief feedback on the added features:
http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?id=492

or better yet just buy or rent this dvd! you will not regret it! ;)

i hope you don't mind this rather late reaction but i just got my copy of this DVD early this year. you're right this has got to be the most if not one of the most comprehensive DVDs ever. lots and lots of extra features that would surely consume one's time. if you're the type who wants to know all aspects of movie-making then this one's for you. i even read a review of this DVD that this one gives way way too much information that it might have gotten overboard. well, for me, goes to show that the producers of this DVD really did their best to come up with a "complete" DVD. drawback is that video is not anamorphic. heard they're gonna release an anamorphic version soon. or is it out yet?

Post by: gumby on Jun 15, 2002 at 10:09 PM
:) Hi guys! I just got my first DVD (LG brand, combo DVD/CD-RW drive) and I need some suggestions for my first DVD movie.

Should it be an R1 or R3? Boxed set? Single/dual layered? I have no movie (or TV series) in mind though I'd like it to be crammed with as much extras as possible.

Oh, and please include where I could buy it (and if possible how much). Thanks guys!

Question: why not the R1 version of Matrix or R3 of T2? Any differences?

Because an R1 version of Matrix is identical to the R3 and will cost you twice as much; and there is NO R3 version of T2.

Post by: gumby on Jun 17, 2002 at 01:50 PM
Hmmm...just saw reviews for T2 - it gives new meaning to the term "fully loaded"!

Thanks NY152 - I didn't know there wasn't an R3 of T2. I'm gonna put it on my order list from Amazon! But what about that Matrix Revisited DVD? How's it compare to the original Matrix DVD?

I haven't bought ANY DVD yet - and it's been days since I got my DVD drive! Just can't decide on what to buy so I'm waiting for more suggestions.

You can't compare the two. The Matrix Revisted is a completely different film. It's a documentary on the making of The Matrix, and is also loaded with extra features. The original The Matrix film is NOT included in The Matrix Revisited.

Well, so far I have a short list:

a. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (seasons 1 and 2)
b. T2: UE
c. the Matrix
d. M*A*S*H (seasons 1 and 2)

Thanks Aeris - I have checked out that thread (as well as "Whats your first DVD purchase") - all informative for me (almost 90% bought the Matrix).

My first five DVDs
in order:

1. Fight Club SE - kick butt packaging, nice presentation, choc-full of goodies!
2. Akira SE - if you're only getting one Anime, get Akira - probably one of the best anime out there, it's fun to know that Les Claypool (Primus) contributed to the rehash of it's soundtrack.
3. Starwars: Episode 1: The Phantom Menace - so sue me! It's the only ORIGINAL Starwars movie currently out in the market.
4. Matrix - wala na akong masabi, it's a sin not to have this in your collection.
5. Mummy Returns - isa pa to!

On my small collection, I suggest you guys to have these:

1. Terminator- Even if it is an old movie, a must have for it is a prequel to T2 one of the bestest movies of all time

2. Terminator 2-  Once you've watched the one above you'll miss half of your life not to watch the sequel.  Major firepower and great for HT!

3.  Jurassic Park- One of the fore-runners of DTS but get the later version where they corrected the lack of LFEs from the first release

4. Jurassic Park 2-  This wouldn't be in the demo disc for nothing.  Must have once you started the series

5. Jurassic Park 3-  Man you bought the first 2 why not buy the 3rd one even if it didn't get any good reviews like too much of that dinosaur crap

6. Fast and the Furious-  For drag racing lovers...you'll love this macho crap.  Great HT workout

7.  Star Wars-Phantom Menace-  Aside from being the first Star Wars in DVD it has great sound especially the Pod Race part

8. Pearl Harbor-  A lot might contradict me in this but who cares about the love story which really sucked...I'm after the sound baby

9. Titanic-  Another of those movies that had a lover story squeezed into it...but then again listen to your speakers. hehe

10.  Shrek-  Must have not only for the kids but also for you because of the loaded features and because it is DVD

11. The Mummy and Mummy Returns- I've run out but then again must have on HT

12. Predator DTS-  If you love Swarzenegger...this ones for you!  You've watched it in VHS, HBO, VCD...how about owning it on DVD

13. Cutting Edge- personally for its high replay value.  Maybe its just me and the only Love story DVD I'll buy.  But then...di ako nagsasalitang tapos...

Do you guys check out the DVD reviews on the internet before rushing to buy one?  I notice most of the titles you recommend have had very excellent reviews as DVD transfers, both sound and video,  not necessarily the film on them.   On my part, I check- out these reviews expecailly of the films I like and I get only those with excellent reviews for audio and video, ( I don't care much for the film review), namely:

MATRIX
BEN-HUR
AMADEUS
MY FAIR LADY
JFK
2001: A SPACE ODYSSSEY
UNFORGIVEN
MARS ATTACKS
DR. ZHIVAGO
IRON GIANT
INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE
EMPIRE OF THE SUN

GLADIATOR
FIFTH ELEMENT
BRAM STOKER's DRACULA
PATRIOT
HOLLOW MAN
TOY STORY 1 & 2
A BUG's LIFE
THE MUMMY
PEARL HARBOR
THE SOUND OF MUSIC
METROPOLIS
TITANIC
STAR WARS EPISODE I
CAPE FEAR
JURASSIC PARK
ALIEN
LAWRENCE OF ARABIA
BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI

I agree with ann07 that it really depends on your taste.  It is really hard to pick your 10 best DVDs.  Is it because of the movie, the special features, the sound mixing, in DTS?  Well, here is my list which is limited to 10:

Terminator 2 Ultimate Edition
Air Force One Superbit
DTS Demo Disc #4
Pearl Harbor 60th Anniversary Edition
The Fast and the Furious
Diana Krall Live in Paris
Celine Dion All the Way
Jurassic Park 1,2,3 DTS
Predator DTS 2-disc set R4
Star Wars Phantom Menace R1
- If I had the complete Star Wars set then that would already fill in 6 slots of my Top Ten ;D

There are actually others which I failed to mention pero Top Ten lang eh and eto lang ang maalala ko as of the moment...

T2: UE (R1)

Blade 2 (R1)

Fight Club (R1)

Gladiator (R1)

Die Hard: Five Star Collection

Monsters Inc

Star Wars Episode I

Star Wars Episode II

Lord of the Rings Extended Cut (4-disc, but if you're willing to go all out, the 5-disc set is worth your money)

Hi there, Nat!  :D

Here are my choices & it's up to you if you'll buy  or borrow it.

1. St. Elmo's Fire-reminisce the 80's with this brat pack classic the film that I would watch over & over again!

2. Dead Poets Society-obvious ba?

3. The Last Temptation of Christ (Criterion Collection)- just the opening scene will knock you off! The most controversial religious movie of all time banned by Morato here in our country during his reign as MTRCB chairman. Wonder why? The love scene was very tame, find it by watching it, ok?

4. Against All Odds (special edition)- I love the theme song so I bought the dvd. And Mexico was beautifully shot. Watch it with your loved one.

5. Speed (5 star collection)- One of the best action movies on my lists.

6. Terminator 2 (Ultimate ed.) The best action movie of Arnold Schwarzeneger.

7. Boogie Nights (platinum 2 disc ed.) Relive the 70's and a great story about the porn world.

8. Stand By Me (special ed.)- The movie I'll never forget in my whole life! It reminds me of my childhood memories...those were the days...ang bagal pa ng oras non!

9. Halloween 1(restored version)- The scariest Hollywood flick that I've watch, especially with a great eerily soundtrack.

10. Flatliners- still no special edition released but great special effects and Joel Schumacher is really a talented filmmaker.

Happy viewing!  :)

I collect DVDs cause I enjoy the movies I collect. There's no specific genre whatsoever. Sometimes they're wierd, sometimes funny, but always good to watch (at least for me). PLs remember that when you look at my top ten:

1. The Godfather DVD Collection- Unforgettable characters.

2. Memento Limited Edition (if it's still available). One caveat: the disc is difficult to navigate.

3. Mulholland Dr.- Barebones, no features whatsoever

4. The Lord of the Rings: FOTR (get the 4-disc Platinum Edition if you loved the book. Otherwise, the 2-disc version will do). The sound is of reference level.

5. Monster's Inc.- The sound is just so awesome. And enjoyable to watch.

6. Seven Samurai (Criterion)- a classic

7. Apollo 13 (if it's still available)- get the DTS ver, although the DD version is also good.

8. Casablanca- buy this if you enjoy the classics

9. A Few Good Men- Dunno, I just like the movie.

10. Lawrence of Arabia- If you have a large screen... this is so nice to watch on a big screen, even if you don't listen to the dialogue.

MY MUST HAVE DVDs  in region 1 only   (I hate r3. ang pangit ng quality)

1)Austin Powers in Goldmember--  Infinifilm version R1.  Better than a superbit version in my opinion..
great video and audio with DTS-ES.         Nabuhay yung front  projector ko.  Best video and audio demo film

2)Zorro (superbit)--    Great audio dance scene

3)Earth wind and Fire concert  --  very clear video and audio.  Sawa na ako sa Eagles and BeeGees

4)Lord of the Rings--    Great surround effects with 6.1 or 7.1

5)Pearl Harbor--    To test your subwoofer.  with DTS also

6)TITANIC--     Great surround effects.   (although baduy na ang titanic panoorin)

7)Bugs Life--    with DTS  Great animation video clarity.    Also, Nabubuhay ang projector ko dito

8)The count of monte cristo--    Mediocre audio and video quality  but a great movie.

9) Catch me If you can--   Better reserve now. great autobiography

10) Daredevil --   Better reserve now

PUEDE NA DIN
1) xXx
2) patriot
3) gladiator
4) windtalkers
5) harry potter 1&2 (for austerity only but the movie sucks)
6) Benny Hill  Golden Memories     -- a great laugh before Mr. Bean
7) Sex in the City 1-4    (season 4 out already)
8) Face off     (Classic john woo)
and much more.     As of now, these are the few I have already.

Title: please suggest a dvd title that is worth collecting
Post by: natxxx on Oct 13, 2003 at 10:20 AM
...that is WORTH COLLECTING. WORTH COLLECTING because it's a title that you want to play again and again w/o getting bored watching it over and over... or you collect it because it's part of the bible/history. i like the classic/concert music and classic/biblical/historical movies. i already have some bundles of vcd but since i just got my dvd players a few weeks ago, it's only now that i started collecting dvd.

my favorite dvd collection:

- yanni live at acropolis
- tribute - by yanni
- four seasons - w/ julia fischer
- an enchanted evening with kitaro
- sunlight, moonlight w/ kitaro live
- josh groban live concert
- richard clyderman
- kenny g live
- julia fordham concert in paris
- bon jovi live at london
- the ten commandments
- gladiator
- braveheart
- the bible
- joan of arc
- schindler's list
- 9/11
- history - michael jakson
- michael jacson live at bucharest 1 & 2
- robin hood
- the best of charlote church
- charlote church live
- hell freeze over - chicago live

still in my shopping list:

- godfather - complete package

i'm looking for the dvd of the following but so far i can't find them:

- spartacus (i have a vcd but i'm looking for dvd copy)
- movie about the life of julius caesar (it was shown @ cable tv many times)
- movie about the military career of general arthur mcarthur (it was also shown @ cable tv many times)
- movie about the life of king david (it was shown @ zoe tv 11 many times)
- movie about samson and delilah (shown also @ zoe tv 11)
- movie about the life of joshua (also shown @ zoe tv 11)
- maxim concert live (shown @ MYX tv)
- movie about the life of mahatma gandhi (original is very expensive)
- lorenzo's oil (original is very expensive)
- clash of the titans - movie about greek methology
- and a lot more of classic/fantasy movies shown @ hallmark channel

now....can you suggest what are those dvd titles WORTH COLLECTING? i may not have enough money to buy them all immediately, but at least i can add them to my shopping list. also, please indicate the name of the store/mall where you got those titles. thanks in advance.  ;D

What would you recommend? Aside from blockbusters, of course.

With the flurry of so many movies coming out, sometimes, many of us dont have the time to watch every movie that comes out. So we dont know if the movie is good or not. Thanks to DVD we can enjoy them in the comfort of our own homes or HTs.

Also, with the falling prices of DVDs, sometimes its cheaper to just watch it at home than to shell out P120-150/ person plus eating out, etc. You get to keep the DVD pa. :) Of course, thats just me.
