Mine usually gets influenced on what my 2 year old son wants to watch. I regularly watch my chosen DVDs after he have finished browsing and watching his DVDs.
His favorites:
Bug's Life
Toy Story 1 & 2
Dinosaur
Walking with Dinosaurs ( a documentary )
Land Before Time
Pokemon: The First Movie
Iron Giant
Superman Collection
I tell you, everyday, he will try to watch all these or at least try to browse his favorite chapters in it before I can even try watching my DVDs.
Some of my most watched DVDs:
Mummy
The Matrix
Armageddon
Last of the Mohicans
American President ( with my wife )
Samurai X - OVA
Ninja Scroll
Braveheart
Parent Trap ( with my wife )
T2
Metallica: S&M
U2:Rattle and Hum
and of course all of my kid's favorites.
-
I've probably seen FRIENDS Seasons 1 & 2 over 15 times already on DVD. My fave FRIENDS characters are Monica (Courtney Cox) and Chandler (Matthew Perry).
-
What's with the kids today? My 2 year-old daughter hogs the DVD with her favorites:
The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland
Stuart Little: CE
Toy Story 2 (from the Ultimate Toy Box)
The Little Mermaid
Tarzan: CE
Mulan
101 Dalmatians (animation)
Chicken Run
She has seen these movies so many times that I've memorized most of the dialogue. However, for the past few nights she's been addicted to the music videos in Stuart Little, Tarzan and Mulan.
-
Yup, kids can really do dominate our time with our DVDs.
I even made my kid a couple of VCDs which contains most of his favorite chapters ( usually the chapters with songs in it )to minimize his time on my system ( he has a VCD player in his room )and contain him on handling only VCD copies because most packages of his DVDs and sometimes the disk itself are now showing some tear and scratches on them.
I even make sure whenever possible that he has a VCD copy of whatever DVD he likes. But he still insist on watching on my system using the DVDs.
I guess its like father like son because I hate VCD quality. :D

Toy Story 2

Dati I used to watch the following frequently:
1. Austin Powers
2. Dumb and Dumber
3. Matrix

-
Sa dami ng DVD mo eh 1 lang na iyan ang most watched mo? Buksan mo na kasi ang mga pinagbibili mo lately na mga DVD para dumami ang nasa listahan (if you consider it a list) mo.
-
I'd have to say (not necessarily in order):
Toy Story 1 & 2 (sheer brilliance)
Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (very campy but heartwarming)
Everyone Says I Love You (star-studded, musical fun)
Trick (romance is in the air)
Rattle & Hum / BeeGees One Night Only (need I say more?)
Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss (is he or is he not?)
My Best Friend's Wedding (just for the heck of it)
Austin Powers : International Man of Mystery (pure silliness)
Four Weddings & A Funeral (full of nice quotes, funny lines)
Jurassic Park (never ceases to amaze me)
Sleepy Hollow (well, it is TIM BURTON)
The Matrix (do I really have to justify this?)
South Park : Bigger, Longer & Uncut (you can do it, it's all up to mmmkay !!)
-
Here's my list:
- Superman: The Movie (brings back childhood memories)
- Crouching Tiger (kahit yung fight scenes lang nina Zhang Ziyi at Michelle Yeoh)
- The Matrix (I know Kung-Fu!)
- Boogie Nights (cool soundtrack, awesome movie)
- 2001: A Space Odyssey (parang may nagde-debut dito sa bahay habang naka full blast yung speakers dun sa "Blue Danube" scene :))

my 1 yr. old boy is addicted to the shrek dvd. he watches it at least twice a day. i'm kinda scared that he might look like shrek na nga after so many viewings. i tried to show him other similar stuff pero it's only with shrek that he's glued to the whole time. anyway, i'm waiting for the dvd of monsters, inc. so that we have an alternative. i just hope he likes this as much as shrek.

Since we have quite a bit of variety in our collection, the most loved DVD's would be our daughter's Disney Collection. These are usually the ones that get watched over and over again (The best loved is a VCD of Sesame Street's "Monster Hits" which is permanently in our portable DVD and gets played practically the whole day!).
We also have "seasonal" favorites, which get seen a little more than the others at certain times such as Clueless, Bicentennial Man, The Freshman and The Sound of Music.
Actually, since we still have quite a bit of sealed DVD's, we should really get around to viewing them, but somehow, we don't get around to it. :(

I wonder what syndrome, scientific explanation is associated with these habits? ??? I guess I'm just not that much of a movie fanatic :-[...

The Fight Club and The Godfather. I watch the Fight Club everytime I do my laundry, it makes doing the chore more interesting. I've seen the Godfather countless times because it just keeps on getting better everytime i view it.

My Old Fifth Element
I bought it along with Executive Decisions, Stagate and Golden Eye. I still remember when the first wave of DVD players arrived here in the philippines, I immediately bought My Pioneer DV 500 along with these 4 disc so they are the among oldest disc here in the philippines.
My fith element dvd was an exebition disc for me, and i then had just a 29 inch 4:3 tv so I usually used the fullscreen side. of the 3 Stargate and ang binitiwan ko kasi hindi Anamorphic ang video.
Golden Eye is a good demo disc back then because of its boomy bass comparable with The bass energy of The Professional kahit na 385 kbps lang and audio resolution niya. (448 kbps and standard ng Dolby Digital ngayn)
-
My most viewed is MOULIN ROUGE, which I've watched over 30 times. It's that great and excellent!

Hello! this is my first post ever here at pinoyDvd.
i've been reading through the posts since yesterday and i decided to join and post some messages too. hehe. anyway, my father loves to watch,
- saving private ryan
- eagles concert

- oh, by the way, he enjoys watching cartoons too! hehe. they look so nice on our tv kasi.
and my favorite? i really don't know, i watch our dvd's over and over. but if i'm really bored i usually put pearl harbor and play the chapter where the japanese bombs the base. i also put planet of the apes and go to the chapter where the spaceship of mark wahlberg crashes. i really love the sound of them!
-
Viewing dvds over and over again is a sign that a DVD title is worth buying. What is the replay value of your DVDs? Pls. list here the DVDs that you have played or viewed the most no. of times. ;D

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory - there's always a regular screening of this at our house. Somewhere between 20 and 30 viewings.
-
Music DVDs have the greatest number of rotations in our home.

-
The Godfather
-
Shrek
Charlie's Angels
Notting Hill
Bring It On
Night at the Roxbury
Only certain parts or special features only not the whole movie over and over.
-
It's probably Metallica S&M. The sound is just mastered right and the songs are definitely the best of Metallica.
For movies, I always watch Phantasm, Omen, Changeling, Salems Lot,etc. Nothing like 70's-80's horror flicks.Their replayability cannot be compared. Well...maybe to Sixth Sense.
ELF ::)
-
over and over....again and again. medyo galit na nga misi ko bakit yun na yun pa rin ang pinapanood ko from my collections.
Last of the Mohicans :) 8)
Braveheart.
-
The Bond Concert
Ang ganda kasi ni GAY YEE nakakainloveeeeeeeeee at ang sexy pa whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
-
Coupling: The Complete First Series
Considering I haven't watched maybe 70-80% of my DVD collection, I find it shocking that I'm currently watching this one a 3rd time. It's laugh out loud funny, particularly if you're into British humor. I'd also highly recommend it to anyone who likes FRIENDS.
-
Matrix (the best selling DVD of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Formerly I posted this but now add "Shoalin Soccer" to my list with DTS soundtrack and packed special feature!
plus a good sense of humour film what else neede :)
-
Right now its Seven, Harry Potter and Jerry Maguire SE.
-
it used to be Shrek since my son watched it twice a day. These days, it's a toss-up among the following:
- Dinosaur
- Bug's Life
- Toy Story 1 & 2
-
Shaolin Soccer Grabe, I can't get enough of this movie. Bagsik! Ang daming beses ko nang inulit. Nung nagpunta ako kina FLIM, pinaulit ko na naman! Galing talaga movie na ito.
Moulin Rouge! Haven't been playing it lately dahil sa Shaolin Soccer. he.he.
Remembering The Carpenters
-
I would actually classify the most watched DVD into 2:
1. Most watched na complete or most of the DVD.
Notting Hill
Shrek
Night at the Roxbury
2. Most watched na limited/certain parts lang.
Charlie's Angels
Bring It On
Can't Stop the Music
Highlander Immortal Ed.
Pearl Harbor
Episode 1
DTS Sampler 4 & 5
-
i actually have various reasons to watch a dvd move for x times. ;D
some dvds have several layers in film content that a single viewing is not enough (i.e. mulholland drive, akira)
some dvds have several features (ie. commentaries from director; cast; production staff; factoids) that you're just way too curious not to go for a repeat view (i.e. not another teen movie, session 9, joy ride, k-pax)
you just resonate with the movie ;D (cinema paradiso)
-

Eagles - Hell Freezes Over :) :)
-
Moulin Rouge! - I still can't get why it didn't win the Best Picture Oscars :o
Mystery Men - why this movie bombed out at the box office is beyond me (or it says a lot about my taste) ;D
Ocean's Eleven - the thrill is not in knowing the heist, but in watching how it is done 8)
Kung Pow! Enter the Fist - not really a highly viewable movie, but I couldn't help showing it off to my friends, hence, the high replay value it gets :P
Braveheart - a lot of people compare this with Gladiator. As for their replay value, I must give it to Braveheart for not provoking even the slightest yawn ;D
Diana Krall: Live in Paris - now this is ironic. While I thoroughly enjoy this concert DVD, I often play it to induce sleep. (nothing beats hearing her voice before dozing off) ;D
PEACE :)

For me its gotta be:
1. Aliens -- I absolutely love this sci-fi film (especially the Sigourney Weaver -- Alien Queen fight and the immortal Weaver statement "Get away from her you b**ch !!). Watched it a lot of times and it never fails to amaze me.
2. Matrix -- enough said already
3. Austin Powers Movies (all 3 of them) -- for laughs
4. Alien -- What can I say? I am big fan of the 2 earlier Alien films.
I find the 2 later Alien films a f***king disaster however especially Ms. W. Ryder, who should have been sent to prison (not for the shoplifting thing but for wrecking the Alien franchise). I refuse to buy the Alien Legacy package (or any other future release) because of her. (Although Sigourney going bald in Alien3 did not certainly help.) Would somebody please explain to me the reason why she was in the movie anyway? I mean, this is ALIENS man, a kick-ass, hold no prisoners flick, not "Clueless" (no offense to Clueless fans) !! >:(
-
Lately, medyo madalas kong pinapanood yoong Saving Private Ryan, kahit pakonti-konti...

For 2003: Lord of the Rings (both Fellowship and Two Towers)
For FOTR,I've watched the Extended DVD for about 4 times this year. Yung Two Towers naman, 3 times. 1st time was just to compare the movie (again) with the book (that I just finished the night before). The 2nd time was when I purchased the Two Towers Extended Edition (parang marathon!!). The third time was the same as the 2nd, but this time with the whole family watching (actually, ako nag-eexplain sa kanila ang nanyari habang nanonood sila). The last time was just before I watched ROTK sa moviehouse.
I usually make it a point to watch some of my collection at least once a year (para naman di sayang ang pangongolekta ko). ;D ;D ;D

-
Lord of the Rings! -- Series >:D
positive-noise. ;D
-
I may not believe it myself, but it's always The Cutting Edge that I usually replay especially if I want to relax, relaxing in a way that I will not think or scrutinize the movie I'll be watching... Just for fun... Toepick!!!
-
Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers Extended Edition (the best in the trilogy for me...)
and
Finding Nemo.. (feels like the first day of school whenever i watch this film)
these dvds/films would never grow old.. ;) ;) ;)
-
Add ko lang... The American Pie Trilogy. Hindi ako nagsasawa. Sobra funny! ;D
-
The Lord of the Rings trilogy! actually its my kid brother who watches them a lot :o when they showed it in HBO, i asked him why he was watching it when we have the dvds and his innocent reply was "But did you watch it in HBO?" hahahaha...tama naman siya! ::)
-
I join the bandwagon for Finding Nemo! When the kids watch it kasi, I have to be round to make sure they don't handle the disc itself hehe.. OC talaga ;)
Also, Fight Club and Almost Famous, IMHO, two of the best films ever made!
Of course if I had Friends on dvd instead of on vcd, they would be the uber-played dvds.. which makes upgrading them my next big project ;D
-
mine would be
Someone Like You - watched it for the nth time
Moulin Rouge - just love the songs here
and although I've watched it a few times pa lang since I've just acquired it yung mga korean dvds
Little Bride
My Sassy Girl
Il Mare
first viewing i try to concentrate on the subtitle, second viewing subtitle needs a few deciphering, 3rd viewing watch the facial expressions of the characters, 4th-nth viewing replay my favorite scenes or watch it all over again...
-
Stuart Little 1 & 2
Elmo in Grouchland
;D ;D ;D
Araw araw yan, para quiet yung 3 year old kid ko!
(Buti na lang, puro R3, madaling palitan kung maging badly scratched!)
-
for me:
Lord of the Rings Trilogy (Platinum edition) - absolutely love the films! the way the book was interpreted in the film...the packaging of the dvd giftsets (though i only got the argonauth statues, hehehehehe ;D)..... the extended edition that really gives you the ultimate experience since the cut scenes/new scenes were really re-worked into the film...and the soundtrack itself, gandang ringtone sa phone - hehehehehehehehe :D
Harry Potter series - well the movie is not an accurate depiction of the books (well, hey, when does this actually happen anyways? ;)), but since i like the books, might as well get the dvds....though my fave so far is Prisoner of Azkaban coz it basically feels like the essence of the book was represented in the film (though i do miss the Quidditch match)....and of course, ganda ng polytone nito....hehehehehe
for my mom (and me of course):
Josh Groban Live at the Greek - my first concert dvd....my brothers hated it when we play this....hehehehehehehe...but the selection for this concert works for us 8)
-
my most played dvd's:
>:D Fight Club
8) The Matrix and The Matix Reloaded
:o The classic Starwars trilogy (on vcd though, I have yet to get the dvd boxset)
;D Friends (I still laugh every single time on the same jokes)
O0 Pulp Fiction!
-
US Marshals
MI 2
Atlantis
Last Samurai
Charlies Angels :D
-
Terminator 2 UE
Armagedon CC
Too many times that I lost count ;D
-
Here are some of my oft-watched DVDs:
- Superstar (Molly Shannon of SNL at her best - "I'm not a whore! I'm not a whore! I'm not a whore!" - the scene at the confessional chamber is a must watch)
- Muriel's Wedding - come to think of it, this film (another one about instant gratification),is quite disturbing, but I am addicted. Scene worth repeating - the one where her best friend (played by Rachel Griffiths) tells the group of mean girls "I'd rather swallow razors blades than have a drink with you" then cut to the scene where they do the Abba impersonation. Priceless!
-

Kahit may mga Blu-rays na nila ako, I still watch them from time to time for nostalgia purposes. Parang kailan lang ay gandang ganda na ako sa DVD quality...at kita mo talaga ang progress when Blu-ray technology was introduced.
