Have you ever considered, or may already be practising making your DVD more collectible by having matching merchandise or items?
This is actually an offshoot of my thread of having the matching Soundtrack.
Notice that some DVDs are packaged with toys like James Bond. Thus, you can buy those limited edition James Bond Miasto cars to match your DVD - I think Miasto came out with the Lotus Esprit used in the Spy Who Loved Me.
The Gift Set of The Lord of the Rings will have a collectible bookend. If you happen to have or find a rare LOTR item to match this, eh di mas maganda.
Of course having a more collectible item to match your DVDs would be better.
Last night, I saw those big military personnel collectible toys. May nilabas na palang Somalia/Mogadishu set with a Delta Force and Rangers figurines. This would look great with the Black Hawk Down DVD but at a price of around P4,500 eh medyo pag-iisipan mo talaga kung worth it at kung may pangbili ka.
Of course this pratice would be better if you arrange your DVD is such a way that you can place your DVD side by side with the merchandise/item.

Here is another idea for those with Black Hawk Down DVDs.
You can also buy those replicas or models ng Black Hawk.
Thus, this same concept will also apply if you have Top Gun (F-14 Tomcat), Iron Eagle (F-16 Falcon), Executive Decision (Stealth Fighter), Firebirds (AH-64 Apache), etc.
Ang maganda sulit na item would be a replica/model of a Bell Huey Helicopter. Imagine all the movie titles na pwede iyon, lalo na yuong mga Vietnam War related movies.

ai. i so want, want, want the LOTR gift box set (the argonaut bookends! *droooooooool*) but it's a bit pricey and i don't know how to justify the cost to my dad (who unwittingly pays for my entire DVD collection; kapal ko noh) so i'll settle na lang on the 4-disc EE (which i'll be getting from charbit this wednesday :D) with 30-40 minutes worth of deleted scenes! and may special features pa! (i know that the WS edition also has special features entirely different from the EE; ai! :-\)

i also got my 4 disc from charbit! plus inorder ko din sa kanya ung extra disc so 5 disc na meron ako. but wala nga lang bookends and d other free stuff... :( but ok na un! at least i have the dvds. ;D

am a big fan of the LOTR Trilogy and have all the platinum extended editions. I also have the books - the hobbit, FOTR, TT, ROTK, the silmarillion (sadly not the boxset edition).
Bought this hobbit figure 2 years ago coz i wasnt able to buy yet the FOTR gift set and i wanted a figurine/toy of some sort of LOTR. Now that i finally have the FOTR gift set courtesy of sir baby.....i'm happy as a clam coz what i wanted was the argonauth bookends to place in my bookshelf. ;D
Initially i wanted to put out the statues but.....sayang yun background artwork sa box, so...... i carefully repackaged the whole darn box after taking out the national geographic dvd, the booklet, and the holographic cards which i gave to my brother. 8)

I have seen some LOTR busts and items at Greenbelt Montage and Rockwell Fully Booked. you might want to visit those stores keilu..

there were the following collectibles on display: swords, busts of the troll/urukhai, statue of Gandalf and these jawdropping amazing polystones of: Mines of Moria Environment (around 10k), Shelob Statue, Meeting of Old Friends Wall Plaque, and another LOTR environment - which costs a whopping P9,999 and is already reserved to a mr..........um...never mind....baka member dito yun nagpa reserve, magalit pa sa kin...hehehehehe :P
haaay! if only i have a reaaaalllllllyyyyyy big wallet....sarap mag splurge on these collectibles...... ;D

sir hemisphere, the height of the snowglobe is approximately 6 to 7 inches, i think same dimensions w/ its width & depth......& YUP, woodie, jessie & bullseye are dancing around in circles to the tune of "you've got a friend in me" whenever you wind the music box......it's really really nice :o :o :o
caution: it's very heavy at about 5 kilos, so yari ka sa shipping costs if you plan to use JAC..... 8)

I found it in the Gift Fair at Megatrade Hall, 5F SM Megamall. I saw a white ECTO-1 but this is rarer (the white is not numbered).
I also saw 1:64 replicas of Back To The Future Time Machine, Christine, Austin Powers' Shaguar, Nash Bridges' yellow 71 Hemi Cuda, Walker Texas Ranger Dodge Ram. Asides from DVDs, I also collect 1:64 replicas / scale models.

hot wheels has a 1:64 replica of the batman begins batmobile, available in two variants -- the black and the beige -- at the hot wheels section of toy stores -- toy kingdom, kids station, etc. in fact, there is a hot wheels track designed from the batman begins movie also available at these toy stores.
the rarer batmobile from batman begins, which has a larger scale (i think 1:24) was available in the toy stores before (it was quickly wiped out because of the hype that came with the movie). i think there are still some available but it's hard to find. you may try collector's stores in greenhills (there are some collector's stores in the gift fair at megamall).
and there is always amazon.com ... :)

yes sir nice to know we have the same passion for collecting both the book and the movie. More often than not I find myself feeling that it's not a complete experience if you do not both read AND watch a title...although I much prefer movies based on books/graphic novels or books/graphic novels that have movie adaptations rather than the her way around (eg. book/screenplay adaptations)...

Minsan nga, mas mahal pa yung merchandise kaysa sa DVDs.
Kumpleto yung Star Wars 1-6 ko, pati yung Bonus Disc na kasama doon sa naunang na-release na box noong 2004. Wala lang akong Clone Wars.
