my first dvd was amadeus.....
i even bought it before i bought my dvd player :)
I was in fact thinking of buying Amadeus with Woodstock then, but I hesitated.
Alas! Astrovision don't have it anymore.
Has any of you seen one lately?
Amadeus keeps popping up at astrovision from time to time.
Is there anyone here who doesn't have (or never had) a copy of The Matrix on DVD??
bought it from a Chinoy in GreenHills...
Excuse me, but what exactly is a "Chinoy"?
;D Chinese-Filipino ;)
...
I chanced upon its review on Jessica Zafra's book and was intrigued by it. I got it the morning after I bought my dvd player.
gladiator. isnt this the reason why we all have dvd players?
::)Got my first two discs (Terminator & Batman Forever) way back in 1992
huh????
Batman Forever (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0112462) came to theaters in 1995
the dvd format only surfaced in 1997, so i doubt if there were any available dvd disk back in 1992.
Not only did our buddy rocalvo get a five-year head start on the DVD format, he was lucky enough to get an advance copy of Batman Forever three years before it was filmed! Maybe he's good buddies with director Joel Schumacher. ;)
Welcome to the forum, Toots! :)
I hope you don't mind that I edited your post. Sent you a pm.

I noticed that a lot of people chose The Matrix as their first DVD, may I know where I can get the R1 of this and if there is any difference from the R3 version? Thanks, and excuse me if this is slightly off-topic.

Love Affair - ngyeks...
I bought it for my GF that time (now my wife) cuz she really liked the movie and it always makes her cry.
So we watched it together so I could see if she was gonna cry :D.
Lol, ngayon its on sale for P300. Dati it was P695.00
:) I really don't know if I should do this. But this is too inviting to resist. And before anything else, I have no intention to show-off or mang-inggit or whatever. Just sharing my thoughts. Well, the first dvd that I bought was the Commemorative Issue of JOSE RIZAL (yes, the Cesar Montano starrer). I saw it in one of my "sojourns" in Quiapo. It was P400 (!) and sealed. I believe it is Original because the paper inlay and outlay is glossy with fine not blurry prints and the dvd has a MENU, complete with the Making of Rizal and Subtitles. Most of all, the picture quality is not so-so na rin. Not perfectly perfect but still dvd quality.
And one thing more, I bought it at the time I had no dvd player yet. Told myself that since I was going to get one in the future, might as well start collecting dvds. And what better way to start your collection than to buy something patriotic and nationalistic in character. And it happened to be Rizal.
already posted the very 1st dvd i've bought (monsters inc), so i'll be posting the 1st dvds i've bought online ;D
the dvds that started all my financial problems ;D
oc kasi kaya i remember the date ;)
buti ka pa dates ang natatandaan mo... ako nai-note ko per dvd is price :'( every time you look at it tuloy puro gastos ung makikita ;D
I did not buy my 1st DVD. My 1st DVD was a gift:
I had this before I had a DVD player so it was the lone DVD on the shelf for months. My next batch of DVD's (around 6) were also given to me. Again, I had these even before I had a DVD player. So, for a few weeks, I had 7 DVD's on the shelf with no DVD player.
I think an old thread of this topic already exists. I remember replying to it before...
U.S.Marshalls as freebie for the Pioneer dvd player I bought. - 1998 or 1999. The next dvds I bought were: L.A. Confidential, Face Off and The Matrix. Ang mahal pa ng presyo noon. 1,000 to 1,500 ang presyo sa Greenhills.
