Title: YesAsia.com
Post by: cineaste on Jun 23, 2002 at 08:14 PM
Has anyone tried this site?

I have been ordering vcds and dvds from them and I have never been disappointed.  Shipping is a flat rate of about US $14 for around 10 disks.  This is guaranteed door-to-ddor delivery as they use UPS.  I usually get my deliveries within one week after ordering online.

The collection, more so for the vcds, are remarkable.  I have been able to buy loads and loads of European, Asian, Middle East films that I have not seen in other sites.  The search engine doesn't really help thouth.  I prefer to go through the entire lists which is about 300 plus titles (for the vds).

The dvd collection isn't as great though.

Pricing for vcds is genrelaly within US$4 to 7.99 while for the dvd is around 7.99 to 26.. depending on the title.

saw it...kinda pricy..but nice to know thats Infernal Affairs is being remade by Martin Scorsese...The Departed, with Leo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson, and Matt damon.  Marl Wahlberg too.

nyaiks. it's selling at 200 pounds at ebay. i guess this is a bargain by market standards.

the last 2-discs include the complete newly edited Infernal Affairs Saga in chronological order... and the DTS-ES fullbitrate would surely give every HT Setup the much needed workout and fine tuning.

question lang whenever they deliver ba may charge pa ba? nakita ko kasi sa site nila pag $25 up free shipping so if ever na $35 ung kinuha ko na worth does it mean na flat $35 lang ang kunin nila sa card ko or pagdating dito may mga babayaran pa ako? then nag dedeliver ba sila sa home address nung buyer or via post office ito kinukuha....tnx in advance

the amount in the checkout is whats charged in your card.  In my case, i received a noticed to pick up the package...and paid just P35.

I've ordered from YesAsia several times before. All those times I've had to pick up the package at the post office but paid only the P35 fee. But then I've always made sure that the packages were worth less than $50.

for those who're interested  ;)

In YesAsia.com's ongoing quest to be the No.1 online retailer of Asian Entertainment products, we are aware that when it comes to DVDs, only the best version will do. YesAsia.com is now able to offer a huge range of Western titles on Region 1 DVD, including all the biggest new releases, like Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, Date Movie and Fun With Dick And Jane, as well as top TV shows like Rescue Me, Boston Legal and Grey's Anatomy. Customers can save money on the Top 100 Best Selling Western Movies and Top 50 TV Shows, which are currently available at 20% off!

As if that wasn't enough, in order to celebrate this massive expansion of YesAsia.com's DVD range, we are offering our customer's a further US$5 off the purchase of any Western video title marked newly added. The coupon is valid until July 11, 2006. Don't miss out!

i think its because of their free shipping promo. although some are really too expensive, other titles are also cheap considering its shipping included already. but still try to visit other sites to compare prices. for example buyoyo have titles with cheaper prices compared to yesasia even after adding the shipping charges. for R1 dvds, buy from amazon and the like instead. what i like about yesasia is that i've never experienced lost packages with them, or loose discs (unlike koreandvds before)

I've ordered two titles from the Yesasia website last december. I have availed of their free shipping promo of orders $25 up. According to them, it was shipped last December 11. Up until now, I have YET to received my order. Anyone else experienced this delay before? It's almost a month now. I have already contacted them regarding the issue, and they are making me wait until the 8th of this month to contact them again so they could re-ship my orders.

In everybody's experience, what may be the reason for such a delay? I have ordered online before, at Amazon and other sites, but did NOT experience such a delay.

My longest wait from Yesasia took me about a month. A few occassions around 3 weeks. Due to the holiday season, it might be a bit delay. Thre's no reason to panic now.Hopefully, you will receive your order soon. :)

it happened recently to my sister. she was supposed to receive her order around the last week of November but by mid-December she hadn't received anything so she emailed them and after a few days they sent a replacement. she got the package after 5 days, and that's including the holidays.

They must have forgotten to ship the packages. After two recent wrong-items-sent-cases and two instances of cancellation as the products are no longer available, I gave up on Yesasia as a reliable online store.

Hope my case is isolated though.

Well, I've notified Yesasia about the missing orders. They told me, they'd re-ship my orders ASAP, but i don't think it would be in the next few weeks or months. Only if i've known Yesasia was undependable, I wouldn't have ordered from them.

I no longer think cases stated above are isolated.

Thanks.  I am wary of picking things up at the local PO, kasi the local kupit-lector might charge arbitrary rates...

After reading the negative comments.  Decided against ordering at YesAsia and tried Play-Asia instead.

Thanks to Skylynx888, Pchin, and Hemisphere (for the recommendation that The Devil Wears Prada is @$15 less at Play-Asia vis-a-vis Yesasia). :)

in my case, they undervalue the package's declaration only when i write a note on the comment page.

 8)

Does this work with other online merchants? Because I ordered a few items from an American site which cost around $80.00, including shipping. So I asked them about the lowering of the declared value to around 50 bucks on the comment page. It's been three days since I've placed my order now, and my items still haven't shipped, nor have I received any reply regarding my query.

Should I take the comment down?

Crap. Haha. They must think that I'm a crazy person. It's shoptna.com. So, for $80, does anyone know how many pesos the customs might charge?

OT:

Can anyone please share some of their experiences with PLAY-ASIA? Will there be someone who can highly vouch for this site? TIA

For Play-asia, you may ask Pchin. Have not ordered from the site since it's Paypal exclusive some years ago.

Depends sir. From experience, P1000.00 minimum. I suggest to ship your items via Johnny Air Cargo if the order includes DVDs only.

The bundle includes shirts too. If 1,000 is the minimum, what might the maximum be?

Oh well. It'll be worth it. Thanks for all the help!

Bought for the first time at Yesasia.  The order was confirmed and after sending copies of credit card bill.

When the package arrived and it was indicated as gift with no monetary value printed.  The post office/customs guy take a long hard look at it and seems uncertain whether to tax it, it was tv series, so kind of large with multiple discs.  Luckily I was not taxed.

I would have preferred if the price was shown, since if I was taxed, at least that price would serves as the basis of the computation.  Without price, Customs could literally charge anything, so if they charge per disc as someone had noted before, the basis (for taxes) could easily be MUCH higher than what I paid Yesasia since as a TV series, it contains five-six discs.

well, when i ordered a bunch of accessories for my ds lite, no price was also indicated. but the customs official at our area - Las Pinas PO - asked for the invoice of what i ordered. so i had to print the invoice and bring it to them. fortunately, was not taxed since my total order was only $25.55  :D

Regret for the late response... ;D Yes, I used a few times at Play-Asia. RNiverson also used them. They are realiable. Their prices are also cheaper as compared to Yes Asia. But the only problem is their stocks/tittles are very limited.  :-[

This is the first site that I have recently purchased dvd online.

It took almost a month before the item was shipped here (though I only used standard shipping method.) and then straight to the post office for pick up and computation of customs fee.  :P

you can always asked the site not to put a receipt on your package and mark it as a gift. baka matulong sa sa di pagbayad ng customs fee.

Buti na lang di ko pa natatapon yung pinag lagyan.

They declared it as a gift. So maybe that was the reason that I was only charged for the basic custom's fee of 35 pesos.
