Kramnick: I agree, the Fight Club 2-disc set kicks ass! It just got voted as best DVD of 2000 by the DVDTalk online community. And Brazil's one of my faves as well -- unfortunately, what I have is the plain-vanilla Universal release instead of the fully-loaded Criterion version. Oh well.

Yes! That Criterion Edition of Brazil is definitely in my to buy list. I've already seen Brazil though, the regular edition. I hope they do a Criterion treatment to Baron Munchausen as well.

I'm also getting set to buy all of Ed Wood's movies (Plan 9 from Outer Space, Bride of the Atom). I hope they hurry up and release Tim Buron's Ed Wood on DVD quick. I absolutely love this movie!

I belive that Fight Club & Gladiator are two DVDs that I'm considering to add to my Wish List based on their features alone. I have to say that those two movies just fall short of my expectations and I'm still hard pressed to call them good films, however the list of features makes me want to think twice.

DVDgurl & Komikero Buy the Brazil Criterion version! You won't regret it. It's one of the titles that any self respecting movie lover must have.

I finally get to grab my hands on the fight club dvd, got it for under P1,100. he said however that the package originally includes a fight club soap?? something like the first 10,000 released or something.. he said he'll look for it and give it to me when he does find it... cool huh? any comments on David Fincher's other work - SEVEN? How's the DVD version? that movie got one of the best opening title sequence..

Sadly, The Simpsons is not out on DVD and I've heard no plans to that effect, now or in the future. VHS lang so far. But if it ever gets to DVD, I'm there!

Actually, Fox recently ran an sort of email/online survey regarding the Simpsons. They were asking fans what features they wanted..etc.. so I guess there are plans in the near future. :)

What can I say, I love the guy! I grew up watching Alfred Hitchcock Presents on channel 9 and I followed it religiously. It was only recently that I was able to watch some of his films (Psycho, Vertigo, North By Northwest) and I was blown away. I just had to get those boxed sets for myself.

I ordered them from JHiPSTeR. Although he says that he already has the DVDs, I told him to stagger his deliveries so as not to overwhelm me with the bill.

Ha! Sinabi mo! Evrytime nagmagpunta ako ng mall, hindi ko talagang maiwasang dumaan sa Astro Vision. And when I go there, I always find something new to buy. The last time I bought something, I only had enough money in my pocket for the bus fare back home. No kidding!  Ganito ba ang maging addict? Ganito ba? ha? ha?   ::)

I have Psycho (R3) from Astrovision and North by Northwest (R1) from Culture Club/eauctions.

I'll include Vertigo on my next buying binge together with V and new Pokemon Titles.

Any other recommended Hitchcock movies,Phoebus?

I borrowed North By Northwest from DVDgurl and it rocked! Very funny!

I've also heard a lot of good things about Rear Window, that's why I'm really looking forward to my orders.

Underworld Live - Everything, Everything... made by Tomato interactive. Read a review on it. Tomato is again pushing the bounderies of the medium.

AMADEUS.

I rented a DVD copy in our library and I really enjoyed it ... great story of Wolfgang Petersen Amadeus, great acting, direction, cinematography, costume, production design, editing and if you have a nice home theather set-up, the music is just overwhelming. I'm waiting for a collector's item edition since the one at the library isn't. The movie is long and I had to flip the DVD after a certain time to watch the rest the movie. Other than that, y'all should check it out !!!

You're joking, right? Because the only thing Das Boot director Wolfgang Petersen shares with The Magic Flute composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is that they are both German.  Please tell me you're joking.  :o

Aw, don't cry. As you said, it was an honest mistake; you live, you learn. Perhaps you've been watching a lot of Wolfgang Petersen's excellently-crafted action movies lately (The Perfect Storm, Air Force One, Outbreak, In the Line of Fire, Das Boot), which accounts for the confusion?  :D

Planning to buy the Superman Collection...

Waiting for the arrival of 3 titles:
1. Last of the Mohicans - DTS
2. Ghost in the Shell
3. The Fantastic Planet - not most people would like this cartoon, but even if its animation's very crappy, I consider it as a monument to pure science fiction. It has definitely shaped my imagination (wierd ba!)ever since I saw it as a child!  ::)

gets It's not what you think. I'm not giving my boss a freebie, of course I'll ask him to pay!

He's a really cool guy, he always asks us DVD freaks here in the office if we want to order something whenever he goes abroad or if he's going to order online. Of course, I'm only happy to return the favor whenever I order online.

Also, it doesn't hurt that he lets me borrow some of his porno DVDs. ;D

That shouldn't be so hard comics guy. I used to work in a bank and I handled their ATM system. Unfortunately, I was/am an honest employee so the secret is safe.  8)

Some of them I already ordered, some I will be ordering soon, and the others eh will order when it is available as hindi ko pa alam kasi kung sino ang pwedeng mag-uwi sa akin dito sa Pinas.

The Akira is on pre-order, just like the UE of Patch Adams, Notting Hill and Meet Joe Black.

Anyone seen this? comments? I've seen this available in vcd :( at Astro. I would have ordered the excellent two disc set in R2 (French), problem is, there are no English tracks or subtitles. I guess I'll have to settle for R1.

The movie is OK. I've watched it on original VCD. You really have to concentrate lang on the story and vocals, maraming kasing French sounding names and maganda yon plot. Mababaw lang naman ako. I recommend it ;)

alfred - thanks for info :) I guess it's worth buying sight unseen. I have a feeling that I'll like the movie; been reading the reviews - like Se7en and Silence of the Lambs daw. Besides, with Jean Reno, how can you go wrong? hush on Godzilla and Just Visiting.  ;)

I've been planning to buy Kevin Smith's New Jersey Trilogy,- Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy and probably Dogma.  There's even a slipcase box available for the first 3 films, in Kevin Smiths website viewaskew.com or graphittidesigns.com.

A box set isn't available since, the 3 films are distributed by different companies, the most expensive of which is Clerks, released by Miramax, costs at about USD39.00.

Saw this movie in Artfilm at G4. Yup, it's a satisfying thriller. I like the opening title sequence. You'll enjoy it, for sure!

My DVD buying list is too many too mention in this reply, actually, larger than my current collection. But suffice to say, I am trying to catch up in my collecting but hesitant to purchase immediately as I feel local prices will go down further. 8)

Ed Wood.  One of my most favorite movies ever. Everyone was absolutely brilliant from the director Tim Burton to the stars specially Martin Landau as the drug addicted former Dracula Bela Lugosi. Revalation was Johnny Depp. I had previously dismissed him as just another pretty boy who thinks of himself as an actor. But boy, did this film prove to be that not only can he act, but he can act extremely well!

Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan Director's Cut and Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 3 Box Set.  Yes, I'm a trekkie and damn proud of it!  Star Trek 2 is probably the greatest Trek movie put to screen and kudos to Paramount for putting this great package together.

Season 3 of ST:TNG is where this series started to really take off with lots of great episodes. Can't wait to see the Borg again in "Best of Both Worlds", and the classic "Yesterday's Enterprise".

Jag-En Oskuld, I hope my friendly neighborhood DVD pusher can get it. Wala lang. Kukuha ka na rin lang ng bold, yun nang maganda, diba?   ;D

Beauty and the Beast: Disney's Platinum Edition. If they're going to lavish the same care and attention to this like they did Snow White, then I'm sold! Plus, it's one my favorite Disney movies so even if it's barebones I'll get it.

I plan to get HALLOW MAN from astrovision this weekend.   Should I get the Superbit or the regular version?  I seem to be hooked to superbits after getting the FIFTH ELEMENT Superbit just last night.  Good thing its payday this Fri.

Not planning but tempted to get DRACULA  Superbit as well.  Seems Astro does not carry the regular version of this.

I caught this movie once on HBO. I thought it was just another one of those feel-good buddy movies in the '80s. Boy, was I in for a happy surprise! Great cast, good story.

2) Frequency-  jim claviziel.     
3) The Backyardigans DVD movie its fun to be a ghost  --   the nickelodeon tv show favorite of my kids and me.  Plus the Audio CD.

...and that limited edition alien head from the uk containing all 9 discs of the alien quadrilogy.

We have dvd's but we don't have big HDTV's.  Still watching in old 480i TV's.Maliit pa.

The King Kong China Limited Edition comes with a stuff toy that can hold your cellphone but unfortunately it's so ugly as compared to the original stuf toy...what a shame :-[

Me too...left one more to go... Incredibles LE. Won't be able to get it for the time being.  :( The consolation is it's still not OOP yet so the prices won't be greatly affected.

im contemplating if i should get WOW LE? it's on sale but the price is steep. i remember surveying for a hugo boss suit. the sales attendant told me.. i should buy one now while it's on sale. when i asked about the price.. she told me P15,000.00 na lang po.

i fainted.. deep inside. but for the design and brand, i guess it's a good buy. not sure about WOW though.
