Except for the WH2, halos pareho pala tayo ng taste sa gears. Iba pa rin talaga ang direct view CRT TV. Maliit nga lang ang picture, but it's maintenance-free and can produce film-like picture quality at an unbeatable price.

Yep. that's what I meant. guage 16 kasi ang nasa fronts and center ko. What I'll do is replace them with guage 12 then lipat ko na lang guage 16s sa rears.

Thanks attorney! Kaya nga enjoy din ako tingnan yung posted setup mo e. Super sulit talag Wharfedale. But I'm planning to replace my fronts into floorstanders. Konting tiis muna til maka tyempo ng good deal for a four way standers or a DALI concept 6 hopefully. :)

He he. I'll just concentrate on making the cathode light on plaque. Hindi na siguro yung spotlight coz it will surely distract the purpose of the plaque's illumination.

Settings? Hmmm ::) All is actually set on default. I am set at "AV" quality. Brightness, contrast and color are all on mid settings. There are some single japs characters I have modified (Pinakiramdaman ko lang changes while I did it). :) Rgb connection is really great. :oPicture quality is surprisingly greater than most of 70K Samsung 32" flat tvs I see on stores.

That's a great idea mika. I've seen one with the same effect with Philips plasma tv. Bought the cathode light from a friend for P300. Then I dismantled a certain part from a Laser toner cartridge as temporary housing for the lamp. Hanap pa ko ng mas magandang alternative.

Thanks senyor! Mission Impossible done indeed. I guess pag SARS infected ka nothing is impossible. ;D ;D And you're right. Very detailed talaga Missions. At 92db sensitivity and 8ohms, clarity and power were very obvious. I'm really very happy and proud of it.

Ganyan din feeling ko when kating-kati na ako for upgrade. My advice is patience til you are able for upgrade. Then get a speaker na madaling i-drive. Works three ways 1. Better sound quality 2. Easy to drive. 3. Less stress on your avr.

And I admit Sir Munskie na you did a very well packing. ;) Iniisip ko tuloy na you are in export business. ;D ;D The unit's condition is VERY MUCH LIKE NEW as you said. Can't wait for the weekend. Yes Senyor. Gran turismo plays Dolby PL II, Grand Theft Auto plays DTS. Bago din lang ako sa PS2. Still discovering. Kundi lang dahil sa anak ko, I have no plans in buying it. Pero sulit. More quality time with my daughter. ;)

Thanks Migs. So far 480 and 1080i pa lang na-try ko. Depende yata sa video capabilities nung game ang max resolution. I've tried "NFS Most Wanted" but didn't like it. The best talaga GT4. Though kaya nya 1080i, I think mas maganda pa din 480p. :) :)

Thanks alx. Well I really admit you have to have a lot of guts in buying surplus (specially the bigger screens). But I haven't had any problems with all the 5 units I've had for the past years. Madali naman malaman if its going to last. If you see one in almost perfect brightness even on mid settings, then it should go a long way. Plus you have to choose a very good store at Pier (the one with good reputation in after sales service). In this case I vote for "rover".
My HK blends perfectly with my floorstander. Ang LAPAD ng tunog! Plus being at 8ohms, di sya hirap i-drive. :)

I agree. If you always complain see the bad sides of it, you'll end up not having the good ones. Maybe someday it'll break down (not too soon I hope) :D. But at least I'm 2 years well assured. Sa ganda ba naman ng after sales service ng AVCP, what more can I ask. Di ko na kinikwenta time of viewing, basta banat ng banat. More quality time and experience with my loved ones. ;)

Thanks for your kind words Dan. I remember when I got my PJ & was looking for a widescreen, the cheapest one quoted to me was 16k >:(! And I looked everywhere! Its a pleasure (& goal) for the company to bring quality widescreens (& other HT accessories) to us HT hobbyists at a more affordable level. :)

A little story for comparison.
I actually had the chance to audition a "Bose Acoustimass IV Home theater speaker system" driven by a mid level Onkyo avr. And I was very dissapointed in it. The clarity of its mids and highs were way TOO EARRITATING!! I can't feel any bass considering it was in a well closed carpeted showroom. SUPER MAHAL pa! Whopping 56k. Wala pang amp yun tsk! Can't imagine how BOSE managed robbing all its customers. It really doesn't stand to its value.

But this Baby really ROCKS!! :o :o It sounds far better than the Bose above. Highs and mids were very clear and bass . . . Wooooooohoooohooo! Earthshaking! It has all the important requirements you need in a digital viewing and listening experience. A real value for your money.

Yep. Aint really great watching when windows are open. Sinadya ko lang kunan ng pics that way to show everyone how well the Panasonic AX100 performs even on brightly lit environment. Syempre I watch with blinds rolled down. Sarap!! :)

My latest update guys. SHARP LC-32PX5M and a Pioneer DV-600AV-S I was already headed for a samsung r81 til I saw a side by side demo with this. Whoa! Akala ko maganda na samsung. Buti na lang. IMHO - "It has the colors of a Viera and the contrast of Samsung". It wasn't really a hard decision for me. Btw, Plasma was also one of my first choice but realized that I intend to use it for a pc, ps2 and channel viewing. So I ended up with this. No regrets so far. :) Thanks for looking guys.

This one's freaking awesome. It sounds surprisingly better than it looks. The first thing I tested was a non audiophile cd and it really made me smile coz I noticed right away the leap of difference from my M34. I didn't expect that coz the M34 has a higher sensitivity at 92db as compared with M53's at 89db. The highs were crystal clear, mids were more broad and the bass . . :o :o :o wohohohho. . I can't believe how those small drivers could produce frequencies that low. I've enjoyed its bass so much that I actually turned off my velo 10r sub for the meantime. And thank God by the way coz it doesn't boom in my room.
On movies - Now this one is oddly surprising. I felt like my surrounds complemented the arrival of its new partners. Everything sounded much broad. Surrounds became more accurate. I don't see any relevance in this but the changes were obvious.

Funny you mentioned "other choices" coz I almost gave up with these M5s. That time I was leaning towards first at Atlantic Technology. But I couldn't find somewhere for audition. My next choice would be B&W, problem is you'll need a super amp for them to sing well. Those were so far my choices. But in the end I'm still happy with my final choice. :)

Clarity wise, there's no difference. The dual cone on the M53 just added its bass repro. M52 is still a good buy. ;)

Now why didn't I think of that. :D :D Seriously - Investing on expensive gears is way better than beautifying my place in my case believe it or not. This is due to the instability of home ownership issues. All might go to waste if I start spending (big or small) on renovations. And if in case I have a stable place to set it up, I couldn't afford such expenses. I just might end up having four walls of beautiful place with a 14 inch tv, CHANGHONG dvd player and a BOKA speaker system. ;D ;D ;D

Not likely pre. I really love these M53's. Besides, I don't think there's a huge difference with the sound quality of M52's against M53's. You should keep it. Btw, I almost pmed you two weeks ago reg your M52. Plano ko sana bilhin sa yo. ;D ;D

I suggest ipon ka muna konti rather than getting a lower kind of speakers. I can assure you "It's all worth it". I'll take more clean shots. Hirap kasi pag maliit ang place. :D :D

Thanks pre. Htpc rocks! lots of freedom towards hd viewing. A good video card, additional memory and digital sound solution is all you need pre. You don't have to replace all the pc parts.

Thanks Marl. Don't quite get your question. But if you're referring to signal loss during performance I can tell you "there's absolutely none". I even had a weird surprise the other day when I suddenly realized that I was using it unplugged. :o :o This is odd because the splitter is powered. Yet it still gives flawless signal. :)

No pre it does not, that's the downside. It was specific coz it will prompt you to connect audio thru other channels possible. ;)

Thanks Marl. Don't quite get your question. But if you're referring to signal loss during performance I can tell you "there's absolutely none". I even had a weird surprise the other day when I suddenly realized that I was using it unplugged. :o :o This is odd because the splitter is powered. Yet it still gives flawless signal. :)

This avr is too awesome. SQ is far better and powerful than 705. And its PQ :o :o :o I thought there's no more room for improvement from 705's Faroudja. I was wrong. The improvement on my PJ output was stunning. HQV Rocks hard!! If you all ask me, I'd say I've just saved myself from buying a power amp and a video processor. ;)

2) connected to AVR via coaxial
3) browse the setup menu, set video output to 720p60hz
4) all sound ouput set to digital raw
5) played some files, PQ crisp - SQ detected DD, DTS, DTS-ES
6) connected HDMI cable
7) changed video output to HDMI - 720p60hz

That's true! I have upgraded my internet speed to 2mbps for the reason of downloading mkv files. Tried some already on my PS3 by converting them to VOB files and they are really great! But I only get 2 channel stereo audio. :-\

My thoughts pre:
Panasonic AX200
pros: Super-low priced for its class.
cons: Di pa full hd. But if you'll be mostly viewing 720 native movies. Oks na to.
Panasonic AE1000
pros: Full hd and much better than AX series.
cons: Priced way higher than AX200. Don't know the exact figure though but I heared its tagged close to AE2000.
Panasonic AE2000
pros: Well its full hd and brighter than ae1000.
cons: Mahal pa rin! ;D ;D ;D
My bottomline assessment is get the ax200 for now while waiting for the humongous price drop of the full hds. ;)

Howdy pre. the egreat was added a few months back and it was a really worth it. You should get one too. It will match perfectly with your pj. Too bad I already sold mine :'(. But I'm saving up for a bigger flat display. Todo tiis muna for now. Anyway, the excitement for an upgrade is when you don't have it yet. ;)

Hello fellow Pdvd'ers.
After 14 long years since I last started this thread and eight years since my last post. Had the chance in reading it again. I must say it gave a big smile in my face going back through the pages. You'll notice that I started with a simple setup and within just a few moment it transformed into a dream ht setup. And I would say that that era was the best part in doing the upgrades because the technology difference on those years were quite radical. It was a really a dream that came true. I admit I was really lucky I had a chance in experiencing these upgrades.
But more than just the gears, the thing that made me happy was the advises I got from the friendly and helpful Pdvd members ahead of me. They are the real reason of my upgrade inspiration.
Last 2010 I have already sold most of the gears you are seeing in this thread. In exchange for a business opportunity. Home theater is still my hobby but now I am only using a 32 inch tv, a media player and a Logitech 5.1 speaker system. It's a simple setup but still does the job in entertaining me with my family on a bonding movie night.
The gears have already been downgraded. But I still have some of the former dvd member advisers as my clients and friends. And that is what I consider my true upgrade in life.
