Ain't that C8)8)L?  A shaped DVD!  I have seen assorted shaped CDs before but not DVDs.  Check-out DVDCard.nu (http://www.dvdcard.nu/dvdcard/English/indexeng.htm) and click it's MENU below the page for more info.

The sample above would make a GREAT ID for the next PinoyDVD meet *hint-hint* :D

hi guys  :),

why not just use a cheap, generic cdr and a labeler for the tags. itll come out a lot cheaper. tapos kung sino sa atin ang merong cd-label maker pwede nalang mag volunteer, di ba? great idea bartmaniac  ;D

Yes bently, it does lessen the disc space since the data will only be stored starting from the area without corners.  And because these DVDs are oddly-shaped, the round disc area gets to be pretty smaller that the conventional DVD.

Another downside is that other players advise not to load and play shaped CDs.  I remember my DVD user's manual having a warning (with illustrations) about playing such :(

You mean, this is actually a playable DVD? Wow! This is cool. But I'm not gonna load this into my player You know exactly what will happen to your player eventually. ;)

Yes barrid :).  You can store data, music and/or video in it.  Here's what their website says:

= = = = =
By using different formats of this DVDCard it is possible to use 2 Gb of data (72 minutes of video). DVDCards can be used in DVD-players as well as computer DVD-players.

There are 6 possibilities concerning shape and format.

60 mm2, DVD5 with 350 Mb of data, 8 minutes of video;
60 mm2, DVD9 with 700 Mb of data, 16 minutes of video;
63 mm * 80 mm, DVD5 with 400 Mb of data, 10 minutes of video;
63 mm * 80 mm, DVD9 with 800 Mb of data, 20 minutes of video;
80 mm round, DVD5 with 1 Gb of data, 36 minuten of video;
80 mm round, DVD9 with 2 Gb of data, 72 minuten of video

Here are other samples of shaped discs (below are CDs not DVDs):

Jigsaw Puzzle CDs
(note: image above has four shaped CDs)

Why, the possibilities are endless with these discs! :D

 ;D ;D ;D

Aren't these discs dangerous to the players?

Several DVD players indicate in their manuals not to play irregular shaped discs to prevent damage to the unit.

Check out CD-R King.  They sell some oddly-shaped CD-Rs.

these would work well with laptops. laptop's cd/dvd drives usually have snap-on locks that keeps the discs in place

rene, sonny tuazon, EB and other businessmen here can use this as calling cards / advertising media...cool and hi-tech hehehehe

Are there any members here who owns the "MANIAC" Limited Edition tin made by Anchorbay?

Well one dvd there has a unique head shape of the maniac killer.
