I just wanted to know if "Daimos" & "Voltes V" (the Japanese cartoons shown during the 80s) are available on DVD or VCD.
-
austen,
Daimos & Voltes V is availablein VCD format at Astovision. One disc contains two episodes. Sa DVD format wala pa akong nakikita...

Yup, it's available in Astrovision.
They currently have the complete set in one big CD case. I think the price is PhP1,990.
I, too, am looking forward to a DVD release of Voltes V. Sana may Japanese audio para maiba naman pagka-panood ko. Pero I really liked the English dubbed series. ;D
-
hi mich! there's a vcd set out now, compilation yata. its about P1,990 do you want it? i'll send it through yaz if mom gives the money to buy the vcd. :)

Hi dude!!
So far there's nothing on both titles. The only 70's-80's super robots that have been released on legit DVDs are Go Nagai's "Rocket Punch" robots - namley Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger and UFO Robo Grendizer.
There's a Japanese (R2) boxset of the movies. It's known as the Mazinger Movie Collection. I saw it being sold in Greenhills for P3000. It's a 3 disc set.
Aside from that.. there's been nothing.. unless you're gonna be counting the "other" sources... ;)

Kung official release ay no plans pa kaya inisip kong gumawa ng kopya for personal collections. Di ko pa tapos gawin eh .... kailangan ko pang makakuha nung ibang episodes in original VHS.
I tried converting from VCD but there are pixelations. Mas maganda talaga kung galing VHS.

Is there any news on the DVD release?

I saw several LaserDiscs of Voltes V in a DVD shop in Causeway bay before. I just wasn't able to ask if these were the complete set though..

Most probably it is in its original Japanese language with chines subtitles.
For me, I would still prefer the local dub inspite of its crudeness (especially in the earlier episodes).

Yup, wala pa din. Buti pa yung Transformers meron DVD

I cannot imagine why there's no dvd release on Voltes V when there are dvds available for Mazinger Z and Grendizer. And to think of it, there is a vcd box set available. Maybe in the near future, baka hindi lang available dito sa 'Pinas. Maybe in Japan available na. :)

How about for Bioman and Shaider, may DVD ba?

I'm afraid wala pa rin... but I think Shaider has already been released in Japan as an R2 DVD set.
-
I think Voltes V and Daimos aren't that popular in Japan as compared to Mazinger Z kaya walang DVD pang ginagawa.
-
sayang gusto ko pa naman Voltes V and Daimos... sana talaga mag-release ng dvd.

voltes v is coming....

Hmm... with original monoaural Japanese audio channel, no English-dubbing audio channel, and no subtitles at all - neither Japanese nor English.
Well... it's good news for Japanese fans of the show, at least. ;D
-
If I were the local licencee of Toei, I'd release the new DVD collection here in the Philippines but insert the local english dub and local tagalog dub as alternate tracks. They can also pick up the LD fansubs that have been floating around online for some time.
-
Sir Firewired, I sure wish you are. And I'm sure many will patronize it.
Here's still hoping for a brighter future for Voltes V DVD release.
-
this would make a perfect easter egg ;D ...PLAKADONG PLAKADO :D
LETS VOLT IN! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPmKLmmDFxw)

The VCDs were released by Magnavision, so I really can't imagine them going through the effort. :(
I-subcontract mo na lang sa kanila, firewired. I'm sure it'll be a very lucrative top-seller! ;D
-
I actually asked them 3 years ago ;D Nothing happened unfortunately since Magna doesn't actually own the rights to the Super Robot shows. Apparently it's still held by the guys who brought them to the Philippines in the seventies.
-
Let's find out who they are, so you can subcontract it from them! ;D
Can you imagine the pride of having original Voltes V DVDs with the PinoyDVD logo on the jacket and discs as the manufacturer? 8)
And with the English track, it'll be an international seller, at that.
;D

I used to work for the company who owns Voltes V, Daimos, Combattler and most anime shows shown before the Asianovela boom in local tv. The company is called Telesuccess. They were also responsible for the early english dub and the "movie" entitled Voltes V: Liberation. And yes, VV isn't really popular in Japan or US, dito lang sa Pinas.
-
Still my favorite, never did watch the whole series. I saw the 1st episode at youtube & never saw the ending episode, how i wish these were available in DVD. :-\
I remember seeing the movie version (when i was a kid) in a theater in Naga City while vacationing
-
telesuccess and magnavision had plans earlier this year to release voltes v in DVD with japanese, english and tagalog audio but the plans were scrapped. the reason? kasi hindi dvd quality yung english dub and they were only going to use source video from the laserdisc.
so personally, i already own the english dub VCD set of magnavision, the laserdisc set of the original version, and am planning to buy the original dvd this december, okay na sa akin kahit walang DVD na may english dub.
besides, kapag naglabas ng voltes DVD ang magnavision, malulugi lang naman sila, pipiratahin lang yan ng mga pinoy sa us tapos ibebenta nila sa ebay.
i am hoping toei video would complete the trilogy and release daimos on DVD as well since the quality of the VCD set from magnavision is quite lousy.
hi 2ngaw, i am still working for telesuccess in the "video" department. hope you and the rest of the gang are doing well.

FYI, sikat din si Voltes V sa France.
-
sa asia, pinakapopular sya sa pilipinas, popular din syempre sa japan pero hindi gaano. sikat din sa indonesia. the popular voltes v website by "ivan chen" is indonesian based. sa europe naman, it's also popular but mostly sa italy. madaming super robot anime na pinalabas sa italy, dinub lahat in italian and they all came out in original home video over there.
FYI, sikat din si Voltes V sa France.

nilabas na ang Voltes V DVD box set sa Japan. 7 dual layer Region 2 DVD.

it seems, hopeless na ata i release ang daimos dito locally. (the last time I saw it was in vcd format)
-
guys pa-PM na lang if there's any sighting ng DVD or vcd ng voltes at daimos.
thank you!

I got mine in VCD format from ASTROVISION. I really love this during my childhood days. I even miss GRENDAIZER, MEKANDA Robot, DANGUARD ACE. But I think labo na ito maglalabas pa in VCD or DVD :-[

I'm just new here. Just like to know if the Voltes V VCD (or Daimos) is still available at ASTROVISION. I'm in Canada, and I'll be asking a friend to buy me one (if still available) and ship it. Thanks a lot!

This would really a top seller on my book and with japanese and english track this would be feasible since the english dubbing was done here in the Philippines.

Sir the last time I went to ASTROVISION w/c was 3 months ago I still saw one VOLTES V vcd but its here in Cebu, I dont know if its still available in Manila. Sorry I forgot to check on this thread :)
-
I have the VCD set original by Magnavision. Kaya lang kakahiram hiram, nawala yung last 4 discs. Bad Trip!
Sa sobrang daming humiran di ko na alam kung sino.
Warning: wag kayo magpahiram ng Voltes V ;D
-
i know that pirated versions are off-limits in PDVD, but due to rarity and difficulty to secure any original copies of Voltes V, i was able to buy Voltes V DVD (sorry but it's pirated) a couple of years back and quality was very good ... i bought it then when i chance by the DVD's in Makati Cinema Square, and i gave the DVD's to my brother as a B-Day gift, tagal na kasi nyang naghahanap.
after reading this thread, it makes me want to borrow the DVD's and have my personal copy ... hopefully nasa kanya pa

Warning: wag kayo magpahiram ng Voltes V ;D
I will keep this in mind ;D
