Title: The Amazing Race: All-Stars
Post by: Reuven Malter on Nov 22, 2006 at 10:16 PM
SPOILERS

Read this from A List Of Things Thrown Five Minutes Ago (http://throwingthings.blogspot.com/):

Well-informed TWoP sources seem to have these teams as booked in The Amazing Race: Teams We'd Like To See Again edition, currently being filmed:

    * Dustin and Kandace (Beauty Queens - this season)
    * Lori and Dave (Beloved Nerds - TAR9)
    * Rob and Amber (TAR7)
    * Uchenna and Joyce (Team Low Motility - TAR7. The only prior winners on the list.)
    * Tian and Jaree (Unmemorable Models - TAR4)
    * Kris & Jon (Relaxed/Dating - TAR6)
    * Charla and "Husband" (TAR5)
    * Colin and Christie (TAR5)
    * Jon Vito and Jill (Team 9/11 Changed Everything - TAR3)
    * Danny and Oswald (Cha! Cha! Cha! - TAR2)
    * Kevin and Drew (The Frats - TAR1)
    * Bill and Joe (Team Guido - TAR1)

An early edition of the list had DJ & Marion Paolo instead of Jon Vito and Jill.

So, no Reichen and Lance  ;D but Charla and "Husband?"  ??? Whatever happened to Mirna? Does Colin have a restraining order against her?

Just speculating. If the Beauty Queens were in this edition, does that mean that they successfully yielded towards elimination based on this week's preview?

     * Rob and Amber (TAR7)

I think they left out the NEVER in the "Teams We'd _____ Like to See Again" part of that statement.

i wonder how the teams were picked though  ???
of all the teams mentioned - i really wanted to see again Colin and Christie. I mean, they played the game really well (its actually the first time i watched TAR), only, they kinda slipped towards the end and chip & kim got the better flight :)

would have wanted to see the clowns (jon and al) though in the all star edition.

I agree, they played very well and I want to see them again, even if I'm still angry at Christie for wanting to run over my kababayans ("Run them over, it doesn't matter!").

I really wanted Kelly & Jon back, since they never took the race too seriously, and were very amusing throughout. They don't care about being PC, so they're more fun than most.

ed Kelly & Jon back, since they never took the race too seriously, and were very amusing throughout. They don't care about being PC, so they're more fun than most.

Yeah, they remain my favorite couple ever on TAR. They were fun--they mostly laughed at themselves and their "fights" were actually hilarious, snippy arguments. It would've been great to see them again, instead of perpetual z-listers Romber.

Oh, man--the beauty bimbos again? Hope it's not true...

was reading Return of the Racers and chip was blogging that...... he bumped into the All Star Edition at the Miami Airport! So the all star edition is now filming. He said that he got a chance to chat with most of the teams and he signed a waiver so that his image wil be shown...maybe will see him on the first episode  ;D

anyways, he will not confirm who he saw at the airport, but he did say that 7 from his guesses were included  in the all star edition, and they are (as culled from his episode 9 blog on the current TAR season):

Tar 1: Brennan and Rob
Tar 1: Joe and Bill
Tar 2: Shola and Doyin
Tar 2: Blake and Page
Tar 3: Flo and Zach
Tar 3: Derek and Drew
Tar 4: John and Al
Tar 4: Tian and Jeree
Tar 4: Millie and Chuck
Tar 4: John and Kelly
Tar 5: Chip and Kim
Tar 5: Colin and Christie
Tar 5: Charla and Mirna

Tar 6: Lori and Bolo
Tar 6: Freddy and Kendra
Tar 7: Unchenna and Joyce
Tar 7: Lynn and Alex
Tar 7: Rob and Amber
Tar 8: Family Edition (none)
Tar 9: BJ and Tyler
Tar 9: Eric and Jeremy
Tar 10: Dustin and Kandice (they will be tired) and finally..
Tar 10: Justin and Tyler

hmmm...crossing it with the list in the first post...... hey! that's 7! so i guess the intial list is correct!  ;D

Someone updated the list at TWoP. This is the new alleged list of racers:

Joe/Bill
Kevin/Drew
Nancy/Emily
Oswald/Danny
Teri/Ian
John Vito/Jill
Tian/Jaree
Charla/Mirna
Kris/Jon
Uchenna/Joyce
Rob/Amber
Dave/Lori
Dustin/Kandice
David/Mary

No Colin & Christie, since Christie's supposedly pregnant. Damn, there goes my favorite team from those initially announced.

Go... John Vito & Jill, I guess...  ::)

Witnesses have confirmed that one of teams are composed of members from two teams from TAR 9: Eric & Danielle - Eric is one of the fratboys (Eric & Jeremy), while Danielle is from the "double Ds" team (Dani/Danielle)

Also, some bizarre reports seem to confirm that Romber is not actually included in the race, but just merely serve as decoys--haha, sana nga.

Apparently casting the Guidos and Charla & Mirna wasn't enough, they had to include Romber... again! Isn't this their 5th time on a CBS reality show? I'm rooting for John & Jill, Kevin & Drew, and Team ChaChaCha! Finally, we were able to see the elusive season 2 and that Hong Kong - Auckland leg was a riot.

And the best part is: this time, she's actually single and available.  ;D

Sixth.  >:(

1. Survivor: The Australian Outback
2. Survivor: Marquesas
3. Survivor: All-Stars
4. The Amazing Race 7
5. Rob & Amber Get Married (two episodes - does this count?)
6. The Amazing Race All-Stars

On top of that, there's their current show on Fox Reality, Rob & Amber: Against the Odds (http://www.foxreality.com/show.php?id=4372)

d**n.

ROMBER - Reality TV's biggest whores.

I would like to have seen Bill and Tammy Gaghan from the Family Edition compete here.

What happened to Kris & Jon? They shouldn't have included Uchenna & Joyce, they already won.

ROMBER - Reality TV's biggest whores.

But no matter what they do, they remain perpetual Z-listers.  :D
Also, rumors have it that they were included just to provide "conflict and entertainment" only, WTF? They're really not supposed to win.

No plugs for this on Studio 23 either, right?

I guess we're now stuck with AXN's edited version.

It's quite annoying. If they can make TAR-Asia have a 49-minute (without commercials) runtime, you'd think they'd allow TAR's 44 minute runtime and not have to edit about 2 minutes per episode to add space for commercials (abroad, that is. Locally, those edit gaps end up with a ton of station programming plugs after just a handful of commercials).

Haven't seen on-air promos nga but it's still advertised on Studio 23's website. I really hope we don't have to resort to AXN for this one.

Elimination Station online show will follow Amazing Race 11’s contestants in sequester

The all-star contestants who are eliminated from The Amazing Race 11 will face another twist after they’re evicted and sent to sequester: They’ll be followed by cameras for an online reality show.

After being Philiminated, teams travel to a sequester location somewhere in the world where they wait for the race to conclude, when they reassemble to stand by the final mat and pretend to be happy for the winners. Now, they’ll be followed by cameras at that location.

Elimination Station shows “what happens when Teams are eliminated from the Race and sent to a secluded sequester house where they must try to cope with the disappointment of being eliminated while living alongside their fellow eliminated All-Stars,” according to CBS.

The web-only series will have 13 episodes, and will be broadcast on CBS’ Innertube site. The show “will be streamed … immediately following the West Coast broadcast of each episode,” according to the network. The first episode/webisode debuts Sunday at 9 p.m. PT.

The show starts locally this Monday, February 19th, LIVE on AXN at 9AM.

Also on Studio 23, allegedly.

Primetime Replay: Studio 23 = 8:00PM; AXN = 9PM/1AM.

I'm just amused by the amount of hate heaped upon Romber even before the race has started...  Sure, those two are media whores, but anyone who saw AR7 must at least admit that the two worked really well during the race (heck, they've even introduced freakin' strategizing in the race with that 1/2 lb of meat...  I just laugh at the suckers who fell for that ploy)...  and honestly, a plane opening up its' doors again just for uchenna and joyce?  Reeeeeeaaaaaalllly.
Title: Re: The Amazing Race: All-Stars
Post by: indie boi on Feb 19, 2007 at 01:01 AM
But wasn't it revealed that Romber also got that same stroke of luck earlier in the race? I think that this was even mentioned in one TV interview where Rob was complaining about the "conspiracy" and he started stammering, unable to make a good enough reason or comeback for that bit of info.

Thank God we didn't have to resort to the AXN broadcast. Many thanks, Studio 23!

The number 1 rule change/addition I want in TAR is no more Ferns (not allowed to bring a local with you) and no more paying taxis to take you to a place (when you have your own car). It's a lot more fun when lots of people are lost and all of them are thinking they're in last place. :D

In the last episode of Rob and Amber Against The Odds, when they got the call from their agent about the Amazing Race All Stars, Rob was already strategizing. He figures that bringing big backpacks were a hindrance. So to bring something new to the game they were packing light. Amber initially was against it but Rob's answer was that they were able to survive 39 days on an island with just the clothes on thier back.

The live AXN broadcast was a lot clearer on my TV than Studio 23's. Too bad it's just the premiere episode they're carrying live.

I want to watch an AXN rerun to see if they still cut up the episode, but... I'm no longer that much of a TAR-addict.

Which part was this?  I can't seem to remember this...

I remember a leg where Romber were able to get into a plane after the gates have closed, but I'm pretty sure that the jet has not yet pulled out of the boarding gates, as was the case with Uchenna and Joyce.

after watching the TWO & A HALF MINUTE episode of "elimination station"... and seeing the AMAZING "elimination villa" in acapulco ... it ain't so bad being 1st to be eliminated. heh heh.

(because of international restrictions, we can't access it on innertube ... details on how i watched it in the "spoiler" below. if anyone has a better way, please share too. :))

1. go to www.kproxy.com (or any other proxy service you'd like) ... google's translation service might work too.

2. enter this URL when asked: http://www.cbs.com/innertube/player.php?cat=125144&vid=&format=&auto=1

3. it should start to play albeit a lot slower than usual. (so put your "patience caps" on.) you can navigate around innertube like you normally do.

And it looks like it's going to be even more exciting next week. Can't wait!

Sayang, would have been fun to see "Mr. Intensity" Colin and Christie competing with Rob and Amber. Or how Rob and Brennan would have done in this edition as well.

Edited to add: Oh, one other comment on the episode, dapat hindi kita yung Road Block task from the clue box. Otherwise, it becomes a little pointless trying to make the clue cryptic. ::)

I chanced upon a spoiler list in TWoP several weeks before the race started. It is a list of the ones eliminated, which supposedly came from a TAR dedicated website and it was true. Why they suspected it's true is because the list was removed from the site immediately. I was able to keep a copy of it, and if you dig in TWoP spoiler's thread deep enough, it is probably still there.  But so far, the list has been accurate, 3 eliminations have been correct. I don't wanna post it here because I posted it on another site and even with spoiler tags, knowing the list is there, it took away the fun.  :-\

Next week, Phil said it will be the episode "everyone will be talking about". And if that list is really true, a major upset is going to happen. And I'm guessing it will happen because a yield is going to be used against someone.

Best episode ever. And even though I dislike Charla/Mirna, their comment to the hated team's girl member being a "lying biatch" was priceless--it was about time someone actually said that. But the episode would've been totally awesome if every single team was present and clapping as the eliminated team stepped on the mat.  ;D

that was indeed funny! it would've been a lot funnier had they caught him...  ;D ;D ;D reminded me of those uling monsters from Takeshi's Castle...  ;D ;D

glad the last team was not eliminated but they have a major challenge... its great also that they changed the sanction for last placers in non-elimination legs... taking their money away only forced them to beg & borrow but requiring them to finish first in the next leg ups the competitiveness quotient 100x...  :)

Without the Auschwitz detour, this would have been the funniest episode of the season. How can you not fall in love with Poland after this? The Poles have a good idiot-radar with the way they brushed off the Schmirnas. Comedic gold from start to finish. Scheming and oblivious cab drivers. sausage jokes, beauty queens and throwing up, and dressing up as a knight. I hope I'm not mean that I keep on rewinding Charla getting face plants as a knight.

Whatever happened to: "and they need to decide when it's most advantageous to go for it"

Correct me if I'm wrong but before this season this rule still applied to the Fast Forward right?
Title: Re: The Amazing Race: All-Stars
Post by: Reuven Malter on Apr 16, 2007 at 12:31 PM
Looks like it wasn't enforced this season. Possible reason could be because they used the FF last time during an Intersection. The team that took advantage of the FF this leg gave up the prize for using the FF last time.

This was one leg where an elimination was badly needed. I don't need to see the last team again. HK must love the first team. During their first season, they also came in first there.

If the next leg is in NZ, that is where they were also eliminated during their season.  :(

The Amazing Race is off CBS' Fall TV Schedule, and will return as a midseason replacement, probably in January or February 2008.

I wonder if this aging show can still hold on to its Emmy stronghold with these new developments.
