Finally saw the first episode of the Sci Fi miniseries The Lost Room. All I can say is "wow!". can't wait to watch the last two remaining episodes.
-
wish i had a key like that!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

I haven't seen anything like the mini-series. The first two acts really set the bar high and I was disappointed when the third act could not deliver. I heard they might turn this into a regular series sans Peter Krause.

I just saw this and I thought it was a great mini-series! Well thought out and well executed. I read a few things on it online after watching and I saw Threshold mentioned several times as being a good show as well. Anybody watch Threshold and is it worth acquiring?
-
Threshold's concept is very cool. I've seen the first four episodes and it acquires the atmosphere of the X-Files. Actually, it has been described as a reverse X-files because the premise are agents trying to cover up the existence of aliens on earth. Too bad it was cancelled because the original plan was for three seasonal arcs that deal with the infiltration, attack and occupation of the aliens. The arcs were supposed to be called Threshold, Foothold and Stranglehold.
What made the show especially watchable was Carla Gugino, who I still think is one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood.
With regards to The Lost Room, the mini series was supposed to act as a long pilot for a series but until now there has been no news about this. There is a growing number of Lost Room fans and they are all clamoring for a regular series especially since the mini series was well written.

Thanks indie boi! Threshold's now next on my list. :)

Just when I had my Holy Week DVD viewing all figured out, I read this thread.
I couldn't resist, so I opened my still-sealed copy of The Lost Room, and just finished "The Key" episode. Damn!
Now I'm gonna be up all night!

Wow, I didn't know a DVD of the The Lost Room was already released. I assumed that a three episode miniseries might not get a DVD treatment. I have to earmark some money for the DVD in my next online purchase.
-
It's actually going for about $13 dollars now from Amazon - quite a good price for a two disc set.
It has a documentary supposedly about the mythology of the show, but I haven't finished the mini yet, and don't want to risk reading any spoilers.

I bit OT but...
Indie,
Dude, I totally agree with you regarding Carla Gugino! If I were to make a laminated list like Ross, she'd be included. ;D Threshold had an interesting concept but lost viewers partly because of bad scheduling on the part of CBS. It got dumped on a Friday, if I remember correctly.

You two must also really really love Sin City, huh? ;D

Can't speak for Indie but yes, and I also like Spy Kids. ;D Plus her guest stint on Entourage begins this Sunday Hehe!

Anything with Carla Gugino on it I love, even the B movie-ish Mermaid Chronicles. ;D

Scheduling has a been a big problem with some very interesting TV series that got axed too early. Even the Kolchak remake had the same problem, If I recall correctly.

I really do hope they make a regular series out of it. I liked how there was resolution in the mini series but a lot was left open for a possibly longer run.
