been using them for quite a while already, no taxes and price is much cheaper than myusamailbox on a per pound basis (if you avail of their offer to pinoydvd members) and without the membership fee that myusamailbox charges. i normally pick up my orders at megamall rather than have it sent through courier as i am afraid baka ma misplaced pa ng maid ko.

i been using the service for a couple of months already.
The people are very friendly. The only problem with their service is that they have a minimum of 1 pound ($5.5) and a service charge of $5 per order so if you order only 1 DVD it would be too expensive. But once you order a lot of titles, it would be alot cheaper compared to MyUSmailbox.
So for my next order i'm goruping them all together to minimize on shipping costs.
Another good thing with them is there is no membership fee like with myusamailbox, so you are not pressured to order.

i remember last x'mas i ordered a small 3" by 3" plastic toy. a shoe box would be more than enough to ship this toy in... but not with amazon...they used a box that can easily fit your desktop computer in.... ???
I finally experienced my first problem with johnny air today. I ordered from a site that sent me the complete details with tracking number for fedex that showed it was signed by one of the people at the johnny air office in new york. It was received on the 29th of march and two shipments passed by and hindi siya nakasama. I already informed them way back and i used the specific information i use for my other orders that get sent there. The usual thing is that we will email new york but new york never emails them back in time. I gave them tracking number for their own verification process and I can't get a straight answer. I hope they call up their new york office tomorrow and ask what's up. Cause those items are of great importance and I can't afford to wait any longer.
miss. leyden is definitely the best among them. she even called to check how i appreciated their service even if didnt have a pending delivery.
If you tell them that you are a member of pinoyDVD they will give you a special price - lower than their normal charges BUT you have to contact them first so that they can make an account for you OTHERWISE they might charge you the normal rates so call them first before you order anything.

Recently, I have a bad experience with DeepdiscountDVD, but a good experience with Johnny Air.
I have made an order of 10 DVDs. Unfortunately, two DVDs are backorder and will be shipped 1 week later.
In order to fully utilise the courier charge with Johnny Air, I add another order of 4 DVD's and request DDD to ship together. At the end, they ship the two backorder items separately. So, all in all, there are four shipment (8 DVDs, 1 DVD, 1 DVD and 4 DVDs).
I send e-mail to Leiden to ask for consideration. She calls me up and tells me that they would charge me handling charge of US$5 only once, instead of US$5 handling charge for each shipment. So, I would save US$15, although they still have US$5.5 minimum one pound charge for each shipment.
Johnny Air has really good service, especially Leiden, super friendly. Highly recommended!
Barnes and Noble loves to separately ship orders, and good thing Johnny Air is very accomodating to this... I LOVE JOHNNY AIR!

did you weigh it first? sometimes they do make a mistake with the weight. also, the problem with amazon is that they ship in oversized boxes or they split your shipment. if oversized boxes, you get charged by volume weight i.e. dimensions of the box rather than actual weight. split shipment results in double of handling fee and minimum charge of 1 pound.
well, i never really bothered to check and weigh it since the very box Amazon used indicated the weight to be 5 dollars. And unless the package had been repacked by JAC NY, (hindi naman cguro, right? or do they change boxes??? ???), I think Amazon is to blamed on this part...
but, regarding the total, i wish someone could shed a light on whether the charge for pinoydvd members ($5.5) still holds true ??? coz I've checked the receipt again and it clearly indicated that I was charged $6.5 dollars per pound (5 pounds)? lyfff...

About DVDempire you have to email them first and ask them if they still accept orders from Philippines. Usually they will ask you to fax them a copy of your CC statement or a copy of your CC front and back.

You pay by weight. Normally I pay less than P600.00 for 3 single disc dvds in ONE box ( never tried 4 single dvds pa pero i did try 5 and you'll pay extra na).
Make sure lang that when you order na walang back ordered items kasi doon ka malulugi and you will pay more kasi more than once ka magbabayad ng shipping and handling charges from johnny air. Ako I make sure to tell them na I want it in ONE box only and NO back ordered items :)
Naka amazon pa... pero I do request it from amazon nga na I want it as one package lang and no back orders para no chance na maging dalawa as in I always tell them that sa email kahit na they always answer that they can't control that factor that I just click on the Group my items into as few shipments as possible ;D Better safe than sorry ;D

Returns? yes you can course them through JAC as well. But as per Amazon policy, they are only obliged to cover postage from NY/JAC Office(point of delivery) to their returns location in the US. In other words, when you need to return the item/s, you would have to shoulder all expenses should you choose to ship to/through JAC NY. for sensitive/delicate items, i prefer direct to Manila shipping so Amazon can replace this accordingly. Items like Schindler's List Gift Set/Disney Tins or Matrix Ultimate Collection should be delivered directly to Manila for easy replacements.
Yes, you can tell Amazon to group your shipments to few packages as possible, but no assurance. the need to check the items' availability in different fulfillment centers may opt Amazon to send each item from different locations. JAC, on the other hand, would treat each package as a different transaction and thus apply separate shipping and handling fee for each package. You may try dvdempire if you want your all of your items shipped at the same time.
As a rule, JAC does not group or consolidate packages into one shipping for security reasons and for the reason that this kind of service would entail tedious management/monitoring on their part.

Have their rates changed? i told them I was a new Pinoydvd member and the discounted rates that were mailed to me were $6.50 per pound and $10.00 for the handling. :o from reading this thread I thought the discounted rate was $5.50 and $5.00 for the handling? sometimes, NY uses volume weight to calculate the payables of shippers here in manila. since i order from different online stores, i calculate via volume weight average and not by weight alone since i cant predict the size of the box.

Based on my conversation with leiden, jac is normally charged based on the weight indicated in the box, not the actual weight of the items.
hence, JAC and Amazon don't mix quite well. i think past posts support this claim. for items other than dvds, i now use their balikbayan box option to save me moneys and prevent me from fainting... over and over again.

what i did is order from different stores and requested JAC to place all the sealed boxes (as is) in one balikbayan box for sea freight.. which takes 30-45 days to be delivered to manila.

Depending on the exact weight (7 lbs ++), between Php5-K to Php6-K but that's what we regularly pay for incoming 15" laptops. Outbound shouldn't be to far off. JAC can probably give you a top-of-mind estimate so I suggest giving them a call.

I would say on the average 150 pesos.
high definition titles much cheaper since they are lighter. less than 100 pesos each title.

how do you inform them you want all in one package?my mistake, my post had the impression that I have done it before, actually this will be my first time to send HD titles thru JAC. I have just placed the order (Transformers is already in stock). Right before the "Place the Order" page, wala na split sa order so I proceeded. Right after placing the order, I sent them email strictly requesting for the titles to come in one package and no splitting. Also highlighted in my email that I would incur additional charges if my order will come in split packages. Let us see what happens...... ;D ;D

i got my first package from johnny air today. i could attest to their fast service and turnaround time. i ordered a couple of lp records online, and these were delivered to the JAC new york office on nov 2. i got a text message from the JAC staff yesterday informing me that my package was ready for pick up. so 7 days all in all. excellent service. one negative thing lang is that the store from which i ordered packed the records in a very big box, filled with styro inside. so that resulted into extra weight, which made the package a bit more expensive than what i was expecting. but of course that wasn't JAC's fault. overall i was very happy with my initial transaction with johnny air, and i would definitely use their services again. 5 stars for JAC!

the reason they do that is to prevent items being mishandled (breakage) by the courier, mas mura nga naman instead of replacing the items, in case masira yung product. I remembered the first time i bought a sub from 6 ave., naka original box na, nilagay pa ulit nila sa isang box filled with styro. every retailer does that.
Actually, I inquired from JAC two days ago if my package was already with them. Unfortunately, there's none yet. The reason, as he said, is that JAC NY has Saturday (US time) cut-off for shipping to Philippines. Since my Amazon package was received by JAC NY last Saturday also, it probably did not make it with the cut-off time. JAC advised me that'll it be included on the next batch and that he already sent e-mail to their NY office.
Anyway, it's still fine with me. I guess it's much better than waiting for a Post Office pick-up notice that usually come very late. JAC Megamall is just walking distance from my office. ;)

I just completed my first transaction with JAC - a 119" projector screen.
Initially, I was worried if they could handle such a bulky item. There was no problem. They received the item in their NY branch on a Wednesday and by the following Wednesday, it was in their Makati office.
They charged me only their usual rate of $5.50 per pound for Pinoydvd members + $5 handling fee, which is $1 cheaper than their normal rate.
Kudos to JAC! Excellent service! :)

how will JAC know where to deliver the item in the Philippines if the item is forwarded to their overseas addresses? How will they know if the right person is picking up the item?
It was 55 pounds. You can figure out the price from the unit cost that JAC charges.
Hey guys I just had a horrible experience regarding the shipment I received from Amazon. Customs made me pay practically more than 70% than what I originally paid for in my order plus my shipments got split in two. Btw, I tried to take advantage of the BOGO promo for HD DVDs but now that I added up the costs, it practically amounts to me spending the same amount on the HD DVDS without the promo. So I saved nothing... :(

The item (#######) was tendered for delivery on 21-Dec-2007 without success because the addressee was not at the address indicated or addressee's office was closed.

Hi, am a newbie in this forum. I've been shopping for DVDs from Amazon (R1) and Sendit (R2) for years but a recent (traumatic!) post office experience has led me to search for shipping alternatives. This thread on JAC caught my eye. I've read thru most of the pages and, apologies if this has been asked before but I didn't have time to read everything, my question is will they consolidate orders so I can save on shipping cost?
And for those who've used US Mailbox, USA2Me, Access USA, etc -- can you please tell me what the advantages (and disadvantages) these services have over JAC and vice versa? ???

For my experience of 10 movies & above in a single box...total weight is btw 3-4 lb.
My advice: It's better to combine & group all your purchases into one box or as few as possible ("average cost per unit" law). If you order 10 movies in 10 separate boxes, then you will have to pay 10 times of handling fee not to mentioned the minimal amount charged by JAC. :)
The problem is that many times, Amazon will send the DVD's in several batches, especially if they will come from different warehouses. If they don't all arrive on the same day, JAC may ship the DVD's in several batches as well.
The only way I can think of to avoid that is to use 2-day shipping or become an Amazon Prime member so that you get free 2-day shipping. Or just pray. :)

And ang 2 day shipping to JAC NY offices mga magkano? Kasi normal shipping for now is free beyond $35.

I think that people have tried that out in the past and it's very hard to coordinate. Keep in mind that there must be a lot of packages being received at their NY office and JAC is not a really big company. Konti lang sila dun. Its a bit difficult to make these special requests.

It might have been a bulky item. The airlines will charge you either by actual weight or by "volume-adjusted weight" or something like that anyway, and JAC will pass on the charges to us. It's not a hidden charge.
Bottom-line is that if the item is voluminous, they will charge you more than the actual weight. But you can't blame JAC for that. That's the way the airlines charge them, and it makes sense.
That also happened to me when Amazon shipped me an item and put the box inside a bigger box. I got charged double the weight. Kasi naging very bulky.

You were charged by volume weight.
I suggest you forget that idea. JAC will charge you either by weight or by volume (this is the same way that they are charged by the airlines). If the item is bulky (such as in the case of a chair), you will be charged by volume and it will be a lot.
Be careful when ordering big objects such as audio/video gears. The shipping dimension advertised on the website may not be the actual size but maybe 2x actually. One recommendation is to have the item shipped to a relative or friend in the US then have them take out the actual item from the big box and just ship the item with its original box to JAC. It is safe to ship the item with its original box anyway because of the styro inside and usually JAC would consider your item as a fragile item.
Just picked up this lunch time from Megamall my first Amazon package coursed thru JAC. All I can say is, the service is rewarding. I also believe it's much cheaper than to use Amazon's standard international shipping method right now. Anyway, for the benefit of those who want to try JAC, I'll state my first order as an example:
- The item I ordered is Spider-man - The High Definition Trilogy
- I was hopefully expecting that the item plus the shipment box will be under 1 lbs. Well, it's not. It was stated on the JAC statement of account registering 2 lbs. JAC Megamall's personnel is kind enough to weigh the package in front of me and voila! It's 1.05 lbs. Ok! ok! I'm not sourgraping or something, but they charge $5.5/lbs, so had I speculated it more accurately, I should have added 1 more disc to maximize the rate against the weight. ;D
- At the time my package reached JAC here in Manila, the current exchange rate they applied is P43.40 per $1. Not bad!!!
- The total amount I paid JAC is P694.40. Breakdown? Weight (2lbs) x Rate ($5.50) plus $5.00 handling fee, then multiplied with current exchange rate of P43.40. So, it's $16 to be exact. As for the discount applied, I'm not sure if I had to post it here, but they excluded one charge from the list of charges.
+1 on Radicaldude's experience above... :-\ Just got my Spidey trilogy from Jac this afternoon. Total cost was around P700+. I reckon 2lbs x $6 (recent increase) + $5 handling x P41+ exchange. Again, the learning here is the maximize your package. Amazon actually split my order into two given that this Spidey BD was coming from a diff warehouse. Thus, my other BD orders were separated. Anyway, at least I got the package safe and sound. Many thanks JAC (Aura / Leiden and JR). ;)
Minimum weight pala is 2 lbs. So even if your package is less than 1 lb, it is still calculated as 2 lbs. Just knew bout it just recently from JAC Davao.

I've been using JAC for more than 2 years na. Not a single complaint or lost package. ;)

The product dimension mentioned above is actually the actual dimension of the AVR, not the box. The actual dimension of the box is (W x H x D) 22.44 x 11.70 x 18.50 inches. And the actual shipping weight of the box + AVR = 31 lbs. But then they put the boxed AVR into another box (double boxing) thus you have a bigger volume than the actual volume of the carton of the AVR. ;D ;D ;D One solution is to have the item shipped via sea cargo, but then again the item will arrive 35 to 55 days after.
If you buy from Amazon, to avoid double-boxing, try to buy from third-party sellers, not Amazon directly because as far as I know, Amazon ALWAYS double-boxes. On the other hand, most third-party sellers do not double-box.
I've read from another forum that JAC usually charge a premium fee for certain items (eg: Laptop $100, iPhone $50). Anybodt tried sending BD player or AVR? Are they also charging premium fee on top of the handling & the per pound charges?

As I understand it, the minimimum weight per shipment is 1 lb at $6.00/lb with handling fee of $5.00 per shipment. How come for 2 DVDs, the weight is 2 lbs? Even with the box, it will not reach 1 lb.

JAC is really inconsistent. I have 2 packages from Amazon arrived at the same week. They (JAC-SM Megamall) charged me the ff:
2 single disc dvds in small package - 2lbs @$6.50/lbs + VAT + handling fee
1 dvd game in small package - 2lbs @$6.50/lbs + VAT + handling fee
To sum it, I paid almost Php 1.7k for the above shipments.
Did JAC increased they courier service/s? I usually order from Amazon.com bi-weekly so I will pay 3,400Php/month shipping fees for 4 dvd movies & 2 dvd games. Can anyone (JAC/PDVD Members) help me to confirm if this is the correct rate? Thanks.

Well my package arrived in the NJ post office a few hours ago according to Amazon.com. Assuming it gets delivered to the JAC office today (Thursday US time) how long do I have to wait before it gets here?

I guess for 3 bluray discs, less than 1 lb yan.. so babayaran mo lang is $11.00. Pag malaking box ang ginamit ng amazon, max na ang 2 lbs, so you will pay around $17.00 sa JAC.

I purchased a small item online coming from the state of Washington (WA). They said they have already shipped it. Unfortunately, they ship the item by First Class Mail within the U.S.
My question is: How do I know if the package has arrived/been received by JAC in New Jersey because that is where I had it shipped to with my name on it since there seems to be no tracking for U.S. First Class mail?

More or less.. But the weight can be the actual weight or the volume weight whichever is higher.. If nakadouble box ang laptop mo when delivered sa JAC, then the volume weight probably ang gagamitin nila sa pag calculate ng shipping fee and not the actual weight..
I have inquired with Johnny Air Cagayan de Oro branch. Their office is just a stone throw away. They have outrageous rates! I think they are overcharging me .
It's $8 per pound here and not $6 ... There rates were not standardize.
For laptop. Its $8/lb plus $50 handling fee plus $30 processing fee. I don't know where the hell they get that processing fee.
All electronics have $50 handling fee while personal effects starts at $20. They said basta electronics kailangan magbayad nang $50 handling fee.
My question is what if i bought an IPOD or digicam would that mean i would pay the $50 handling fee? I think it's outrageous considering that an IPOD is a very small item and buying online would defeat the purpose of getting considerable savings.

As I understand it, the minimimum weight per shipment is 1 lb at $6.00/lb with handling fee of $5.00 per shipment. How come for 2 DVDs, the weight is 2 lbs? Even with the box, it will not reach 1 lb.

Super saver shipping (SSS) is only available for items sold by Amazon. If you add items from a merchant selling in Amazon, then that item is not eligible for SSS. SSS is only for orders (single or cumulative) $25 and above.
Okay, so if all purchased from Amazon, then I can still add. Read the note which states you cannot add an item if already checked out if using SSS, no mention about the clause regarding merchant purchase, or maybe I am just missing something.

1. register with jac (megamall or makati branch) to get special pdvd price
2. order from amazon then have the goods ship to jac new jersey address (will be provided to you once you register with jac, or you can back read)
3. jac will in turn ship your goods from their east coast, u.s. office to the philippines (you will have to specify when you register where you want the goods ship, jac makati or jac megamall)
4. jac will text you that your package has arrived, so you can pick it up.
5. this can be an extra step, if you are not from metro manila, you will have to have it ship to your provincial address via door to door service (as doc oreo said with extra fee).
fortunately there is JAC Davao.. ;D ;D ;D So no extra charge if I pick it up sa office nila dito..

Let's say I want to order 9 blu-ray discs, should I have them shipped as 1 package or divide them in 3 orders (3 discs/order). Pa-advise na rin usual charges sa inyo in Peso. Thanks
I think it's better to ship all your items in one order to minimize the volume weight & handling fee. Yes, if you have more than 1 order, you can ask JAC to wait for them all & send it one time to Phil but then again you have to take the volume weight into consideration.

4. We don't insure for breakage or partial loss as per airline regulations.
5. All repackaging fees (materials and labor) for our ocean freight service are waived.

Rather than saying that "you don't pay taxes or duties if you use JAC," I would prefer to say that "the fee paid to JAC covers shipping, taxes and duties." There's a big difference.

I got the $6/lb rate, but for the several shipments I had with them, they charged me the minimum of 2 lbs (even if it was really just 1 lb) plus $5 handling fee for each package (Even if they arrived the same week sa NY). How did you guys get them to waive the minimum weight?

Anyways, di ko na lang masyado aalahanin yun pangalan... Gusto ko na lang malaman kung normal ito... Yun Amazon item ko kasi nakasulat delivered na and it's written that "Signed for by: KIERULF" What does this mean? Hindi ba dapat Jet Creus since yan yun nakasulatsa package ko? Johnny Air is starting to annoy me >:( . They have one of the worst customer support I've ever dealt with. They don't reply to your emails and text about the status of your package. Today is officially a week from the day they got the package, although it's alright lang naman kung malampas ng 1 week ang package ko... ang nakakainis lang ay bakit hindi nagrereply si Aura o kaya si Leiden([email protected]) . I've called JAC SM Megamall branch and the one who answered the phone told me that they're unable to track any package because their job is only to receive packages.
I expected them to be friendly and customer oriented based from the reviews on this website but this does not seem to be the case for me. I am seriously looking into another courier for my next Amazon order and would you guys know any other alternative?
One more thing, tagal na under construction yun tracking page nila sa website hah...! Do they even plan to fix it?

Not necessarily.. I get to pay $11 or $17 for 2 or 4 discs placed in the standard box of Amazon..

as i understand it. as pdvd members we are allowed to ship 1 pounders which will cost 6$ / pound + 5$ handling. so its 11$ ang minimum. so the 17$ would be 2 pounds +5$ handling. my last shipment was a 25 ft hdmi which was only 1 pound, so i was assessed to pay 11$ or 500 something. :)

Amazon will ship my order of 8 pieces BD, DVD & PS3 game in 2 packages - about a week apart, this despite my clicking the "ship in 1 package" option in their checkout page :(. Is there a way to tell JAC to consolidate the 2 packages para tipid sa JAC charges?

I'd also like to ask for recommendations if it is practical or cheaper to buy such unit in the US considering the addition of handling fees and shipping charges ... the unit cost around $300 in the US, but sells for 34k here in the Philippines.

you have to see at amazon on how heavy the shipping weight will be, then jac will charged you $6/pound + $5 handling fee. you have to ask jac also if they will charge you with the 10% of the cost since its an electronic item.
lets do a hypothetical computation:
$300 + $30 (10% charge) + $42 ($6 x 7 pounds) + $5 (handling) = $377 x 48 (exchange rate) = php 18,096

Anyone tried shipping a golf club thru JAC? I wonder how much it would cost to bring one driver in and if the package is safe as far as handling damage is concerned. :)

Got myself a driver from 3ball.com in the US and had it shipped thru www.my-shoppingbox.com, 7 days was all it took. They just rang my doorbell and there it was in the hands of the courier. You might want to check them out as everything is on sale in the US.

once you are enrolled, afaik, there is no other packages in shipping, they will just assess your bill based on the standard pdvd rate of $6 per pound + $5 per shipping (so basically, $11 is the cheapest bill you will be billed by jac. in my experience, 3 dvds / hddvds will approximately be 1 pound provided they are shipped together

My wife is a member of Philippine Mac Users Group and they have the same deal with PinoyDVD members. Somebody on that forum got a new quote from JAC as of 16 June with a price increase:
i just e-mailed JAC..from the proposal they sent, handling fee is now 10 dollars . $8.50/lb for electronic items and a $50 premium for DSLR (not sure if the same to any other electronic items)

Called their office and it is in transit, but they cant say exactly when it will arrive in Manila >:(Be patient lang bro. Sometimes the supplier could be the one that cause the delay in shipping to JAC. After years of using JAC, my longest waiting period was 14 days. Try to give it a bit of time. :)

This isn't right. Regardless if you're new or not as long as you're a PDVD member, then you should enjoy the same benefit/privilege. I have some incoming shipments, will check the price. Unless JAC has increased its price & applicable to new cistomers only.
actually the problem is the customs daw in Manila. They have been inspecting packages more thoroughly.. Before I get my packages within a week after delivery to JAC NJ. Now I get it 10 to 14 days na..
USPS attempted to deliver my order to JAC NJ last Saturday. However for some reason (might be JAC is closed on Saturdays?) they were unable to deliver it. With regard to my last shipment, I wrote a letter to Amazon that the recipient is a forwarder and could not pick-up the items from the Post Office. What the people from Amazon did was send another batch of the same items via UPS (1 day shipping!) and just requested for me to ask the forwarder to reject the items if USPS tries to reattempt delivery. I coordinated this with JAC and, true enough, UPS did reattempt deliver (I think after 2 days) which JAC rejected.

Hi I ordered some stuff online last week, but since matagal na yung last time I used JAC address, I emailed first Aura to confirm if the addresses are still the same...got no reply....then from the posts above, I forwarded the email to Ms. Myla...she replied that the addresses are the same.

My only beef about JAC was that i was charged 13lbs in makati when the USPS sticker/label clearly stated 7lbs. Thats $36 overcharging!

Yes, Amazon's return policy is really impressive. :) After using JAC for so many years, this is my first undelivered package. Spoken to Ms. Leiden (as usual she's very friendly & helpful). She will will contact their counterpart in NJ to look into the matter. Will just wait & see. :)I followed up with myla ballesteros a few mins ago. I have the same problem this time with JAC-New York..I have a package delivered to JAC-NY last Oct. 23, 2009/10:20AM received/signed by a certain personnel named "RV" based on UPS Shipment Tracking. As of today, I have not received the said package. I've already called and e-mail Ms. Aura but until now it hasn't been resolved. My question is-- Is JAC liable for any packages lost from their end?

I just want to inform everyone here regarding this order.
The package I was referring here was lost in JAC-NY. Just today, I have suggested and reached an arrangement with Ms. Aura to offset the amount of this package to the shipping & handling fees of my incoming packages.
Well It's a better option and thus, unload the burden of e-mailing & calling JAC offices from time to time.
Hoping for the resolution of the same problem with the other PDVD members.

Just got my package from Johny Air Megamall earlier. Punong puno office nila. Hehe. Anyway, Fyi my package was from amazon and it arrived Johnny Air's NJ office last Dec 1.
Nesh, my order which was sent to JAC NJ was around Nov 22 too. Finally I got my package only today. I say after using JAC for more than 3 years, this incident was the third. Usually I got my package between 8-14 days. Sometimes we have to give them the benefit of doubt & be patient a bit esp now that it's peak season. Imagine JAC has thousands of clients & assuming 10% of them chasing & following up, there's no way JAC can respond efficiently given the circumstances. I'm sure they did their best.
Regret your unpleasant experience but for me, after 3 years of JAC, I think they have proven their good track record. It's just that no company or customer service is 100% consistent 365 days a year. Even at DHL, I had experienced far worse case. :)

I just like to clear some stuff, this is actually my 3rd transaction with JAC and I have been a member for over a year now.
As I have said, I fully understand that it's peak season and delays are normal....what I just find unacceptable is getting no response to calls, emails and texts. That for me is unprofessional, I understand that they get tons of queries but hey they are already in this business for long, so they should have provided a solution to this problem. I don't think they only had this problem recently.
They may have tons of packages, but please note that Mr Erman only took few minutes to inform me that the packages are already there during my last phone call...he probably sensed that I was already disappointed chasing the sales people and not getting response and he just took the initiative to do it, I'm not even sure if it was his job....
My first transaction was almost same, although it was not of this magnitude, I had to chase them to know where the packages are.
Again, if it was just my personal DVDs, I really wouldnt care doing follow ups and will just wait for them to contact me, but these are somewhat expensive items I purchased from stores in US and I badly need to know where it is or when it is arriving in Manila.
If they said its going to be delayed for 1 month, I wouldnt even mind, at least I was given the time that I should expect it to arrive or at least they responded.

The people inside mismo (Myla, Leiden, etc.) will be the ones receiving the payment and giving your stuff. I kinda have a prob with this bec. I can't pick up my stuff ANYTIME anymore. For example today up to 1pm lang daw I can pick it up. Then tom (Sunday) there is no pickup. This is kinda a hassle for me bec. I don't live near the area, I get off work 5pm (they close at 6pm), also have work and things to do on Saturday. It will be convenient if I can pick up my stuff on Sundays.
I think this is a big inconvenience and I hope they can sort this out and go back to the old system of payment with the guys outside in the reception area. Tuloy I can't enjoy my goods today ;D

Its different here in Davao. I can get my packages anytime. On Sundays though close sila. But sometimes open din if they are expecting some shipments.

The tough scheduling is really Saturday and Sunday, parang it became half day on Saturday and no pickup on Sunday. Thats pretty tough for my schedule. Hope they do something about this bec. so far JAC for me is still the best. ;D No hassle for me since I joined couple years ago. Great people ;). Actually can leave work a little early on weekdays bec. free sked naman, but of course its getting nakakahiya ;D to leave early hehe..

I had the same problem with my last package. Sobrang hassle! I had to come all the way from Laguna (on a Sunday) only to find out that they no longer allow payment at the reception area. And since it's a Sunday, off si Myla. Sayang lang yung toll and gasolina ko. They didn't even notify me of this recent change in procedure. Moreover, I can't pick up packages on weekdays because I am based in Laguna and I usually have work from Monday to Saturday. This is really very very inconvenient for me. >:( >:( >:(

Raymond is right. It's true JAC has changed their schedule. As per Myla, the new schedule is:
Mon-Fri: 9am to 6pm
Sat: 9am to 1pm
Sun: Closed.
This will indeed inconvenient many customers. I'd suggest try to voice out the concern to Myla or Leiden & hopefully with enough complaints JAC will consider changing their work hours. :-[
Megamall is too far for me. I don't want to go thru the ortigas traffic. Also I will end up spending more ;D bec. I will be tempted to go to Astroplus there, eat, browse at sm appliance or Listening room ;D or watch a movie hehe

Eh kasi kakatawag ko lng kanina. Open Makati every Sunday 9am-2pm. If you're just avail to pick up your item on a Sunday just give them a heads up so they can endorse your package to someone else.
Ok hopefully this solves it. But I think "somebody from the inside" is suppose to give you your stuff personally and collect your payment. Now the big question is "is there anybody from the inside" working on Sundays? There was one guy (I forgot the name) where Myla endorsed my stuff before. It was on a Saturday and I picked it up around 230pm ata. I called the guy and told him to wait for me ;D Forgot his name. ??? ;D
I did talk to Leiden before about endorsing the package to someone working on Sundays so I can pick the item up from him/her. I know I should've talked to Myla but Leiden's answer was firm.. they are sticking to the sched and the procedure. So no endorsements for pick up on a Sunday. Anyway, I will try to talk again to Myla about it. Sana pumayag... ;D
my roomba vac was delivered in nj last jan 15 2010.. as of jan23, the batch for that was offloaded in japan..
im not complaining naman coz it takes them around 7-10days.. pero naisip ko lang.. pag door to door ka sa sea shipment (26 days) vs jac (7-14days) ... parang naisip ko.. di rin pala ganun kabilis.. i wish around 3-5 days ang turnover time nila.. there are flights everyday naman e..

For the past 3 years, usually my items will arrive in around 10-14 days but occassionally I receive them in less than 10 days. Only a few occassions that took more than 14 days. :)

I just got off the phone with Leiden... it seems they have reverted back to the old procedure. I can now again pick up packages from Erman in reception - Sundays from 8 am to 1 pm.

just a tip for guys buying via ebay and using johnny air:
1. make sure you know the name of the sender
2. ask for a tracking number
I bought an item in ebay a couple of weeks ago. However, when I called the JAC ofc in Makati, they informed me that I had no incoming package. Fortunately, I had a usps tracking number so I learned that my package was delivered to the JAC ofc in ny last feb 16. I just called mam Leiden, gave her the tracking number and the name of the sender, and true enough, they found my package. Apparently, the sender just placed "Johnny Air Cargo" on the package (without the Jet Creus/your name) , so di nila alam kung kanino yun. Anyway, I have my package now and would like to thank Leiden for the excellent customer service!

Just got my latest shipment from Amazon via JAC yesterday. A bit delayed...shipment arrived at their NJ office last April 21 pa. But I didn't get charged the 2lb. minimum. I personally don't recommend it especially if you're using JAC because of its weight, as per checking amazon.com it at least 9 pounds, let's say the final weight is 10, shipping would cost $60 + $5 = $65 (~P2990)
It's best to stick with DVD's and Blu-ray's if your using JAC

My friend once used JAC to ship some toys over. He was charged by the dimension of the box, not by the weight since the cost is higher. The toys were not heavy but the box was really big. Just wondering if they would do the same if amazon ships Wii in a big box.
Yup it will be the same. Why wouldn't you get the Wii locally? After you add all the cost probably it's almost the same na. Also if you buy locally it's safer pa with warranty. Less headache. ;)

Hi guys. I'm a newbie here at PinoyDVD as well as in online shopping. I'm really eyeing for an iPhone 4 but since this is not yet locally available, I'm really having a hard time to get one from abroad since I don't know anyone who's living in Hong Kong where iPhone 4 is cheaper. JAC will handle everything for you. Base on your specs, assuming the shipping weight is 2 lbs (round up) the total estimated JAC fee you will have to pay is around P800 only (as of today's rate). It's best to give some allowance that your item weight could reach 3 lbs depending on the box size & packaging. So the final cost may between P800-P1,100 (to be safe). JAC's charge is based on volume weight.

I've had prior experience having packages shipped via Johnny Air, pero non-corporate kasi I haven't signed up yet. Since I usually only ship game CDs or DVDs (occasionally books, pero that's really a rare occurrence), I'm considering signing up with you so I can save a bit din kasi usually small and light lang naman yung packages.
When I sign up for an account with corporate and have something sent, what can I expect? I'm really more concerned about whether or not I'll be notified when my item is in the JAC office and it's due to ship/was shipped here to the Philippines. Would I be emailed the shipment number when my item is received and sent here?
It would really put my mind at ease if I have an idea na my package was gotten safely by JAC so if it's a standard procedure for the corporate account, I'll definitely sign up.
I have had hundreds of packages sent through johnny air never once they lost (altho some took a bit of time - max 2 weeks), but one ALMOST (the tracking info wasnt in their system) but thankfully they found it after 2 days...

My usual waiting time is around 10-14 working days. Occasionally, it went up to 21 days & one or two cases above 21 days days.
sorbet, whom did you call or spoken to at the Makati head office? It's hard to specify exactly when the parcel will arrive but surely they can at least estimate?
thankfully they got your package! I think people at johnny air aren't crooks, it just sometimes things fall through the cracks.. even fedex or major logistics companies have these problems are are just "out of their control"

When I picked up my package a few days before Dec. 31, I wasn't charged VAT.
Pano yung compute ng VAT? for example 100$ yung value nung item? yung 100$ lang ba magkaka VAT or pati yung shipping fees kasama sa lalagyan ng VAT?
i think the vat would be charged based on the shipping fee regardless of your item's price.
ie:
$100 but weighs 3lbs = $5.5 x 3 = $16.5 x 12% = $1.98 total = $18.48 + handling fee of $5 (i think) grand total = $23.48
been a while since i use jac, but i would assume this is the computation (roughly)

How do JAC charges the handling fee? Is it per shipment irregardless if the items arrived within the same week? Or one handling fee for all items arrived within the same week? According to JAC SM Megamall, they ship 3X a week from US-Phils. Handling fee costs $2.50 per shipment or converted to more than 2 liters of gasoline. If you have 3 separate packages arrived within the same week its still costs $ 7.50. And you pay 12% VAT on top of that. Please enlighten me. Thanks.
I reserved a $650 watch from Germany, I am afraid if I have it sent directly to the Philippines customs will tax me huge! Usually Johnny Air just charges me P1,100 for any watch that I ordered from the US. So I am thinking of just sending the item from Germany to Johnny Air USA. Hindi naman sila nata-tax sa JAC USA ano?

last week Analyn from NY branch said they'll be charging a $25 surcharge for an ebook reader and it will be $7/lb. They couldn't even explain to me the logic/reason behind the surcharge for an ebook reader when all the other electronic items (i.e., game consoles, GPS receivers, digicams, videocams, cellphones, etc.) I had them ship for me before weren't charged anything else on top of the $5.50/lb.
What type of items did you have shipped if I may ask?

NY-Manila shipments have now taken roughly 12 days with "uploaded in CHina" as the delay reason.
This has happened twice to me now.
Previous experience normally took one week from Amazon confirmation of shipment.

I have 7 really small items (shirt, bracelet charm, vitamins, two watches, and an mp3 player) which will be delivered within 2 weeks spread and I figured it might be better to just have them consolidated.
Paano ba ang pricing scheme nila? On top of the per pound charge, they do charge handling fee and delivery fee of $10. One time charge lang ba ang $10 na to or per item? The handling fee, if I got it right, is per shipment right?
If I opted to ship the items individually, sobrang lugi ako. Yung bracelet charm for example, wala pang 1 pound yun. Then they will round it off to 2 lbs diba kasi it's the minimum. Tapos may handling fee na $5. Then my delivery fee na $10. Ang mahal na agad, isang item pa lang.

JAC need to fully clarify their pricing structure because at the moment it is a real mess. Recently I had 2 shipments received within 2 days (Cars 2 and Star War Saga) I was charged 2X shipment fees of $5 each. Now it is clear that I should have only been charged one fee. They also tried to charge 2lb minimum.
Got my package last Saturday and only noticed now that I was charged $6.50/lb for my BDs and vitamins. >:(

I was wondering why they rounded off the items I bought to 1 lb each then charged me accordingly. Akala ko kasi, titimbangin nila lahat tapos kung ano yung total weight, yun na yun. I called them up just now to clarify on the weigh issue. What happened in my case was that my items came from different sellers in Amazon. That's the time when they will round up the weight. I also found out that they allow a maximum of three (3) items per seller per invoice. Now I understand na. :)

I'm ordering a lens and a book. Yung lens (20mm f/1.7 prime lens) nasa very, very small box lang siya. I talked to someone who ordered it from Amazon and had it shipped here via JAC. He said around P630 lang binayaran niya because of the light weight and small box dimension. Sana ganun din sa kin. :)

My package consists of two books. Same book lang yung dalawa, same seller. One was shipped through USPS, the other one, UPS.
Yung sa UPS, me nakalagay sa sticker "2 lbs premium." Sa USPS, wala. I was charged for 1 lb for the USPS-shipped; 2 lbs for the UPS shipped.
Why is that? Hindi na ba vine-verify yung timbang basta nakalagay na dun sa box? Parang ang weird lang because they are mainly the same book.

This also happened to me 2 times with JAC sometime Dec during the peak season. That batch got offloaded also in China and got stuck there for a few days. The packages arrived though delayed. She was saying that it will be forwarded to NY in order to arrived here in Manila. A few posts ago someone from JAC said that the minimum for Pinoy DVD members was one pound, I questioned that since the minimum stated in my shipping papers was two pounds. No one from them has replied with regard to this.
Johnny Air Cargo - PLUS pinoydvd members under JAC PLUS can still avail of our discount. Waived minimum 2 lbs for small packages. if it is charged as 1 lb only, then 1 lb will be charged instead of 2 lbs.
The discounted rates for pinoydvd members under JAC PLUS will be able to avail of the discount and you may still coordinate with Myla or me (trixie) regarding this.

Just did my research and it happens on china made CR123 batteries "daw" so I think we're safe with Surefire, Panasonic or Duracell brands.
What exactly are the JAC rates and policies for PinoyDVD members? Can anybody from JAC please clarify this once and for all?
Analyn from JAC NY just told me that JAC no longer consolidates separate packages into one shipment and are sent as they are received. She did not inform me about this when I asked her about the updated shipping rates. So I went ahead and ordered several items from Amazon and Ebay. Now I have 7 small incoming packages. This means that each separate package would be charged a $5 handling fee for each package on top of the 1lb minimum for each package. Most of my items don't even weigh close to a pound so I would now end up paying a lot more than what I used to or should pay. She even tells me that it's 2lb minimum now and not 1lb? What exactly is the real deal here?
I've been using JAC via Analyn NY for more than 10 years now, and I've had several incidences where I overpaid due to miscalculations and errors of your staff. For a not so new company in this industry, it's quite exasperating to keep experiencing inconsistent policies between your branches/staff and inaccurate charging, and not seeing any improvement in your customer services. I've sent emails about these issues, but nobody from JAC even bothered to reply.
This will definitely be the last time I will be using Johnny Air Cargo.
Are you from JAC? Analyn has been handling my shipments for more than 10 years. And I have shipped a lot! She consolidates all my packages and ships and applies PinoyDVD member rates. But this doesn't always happen. Sometimes she or someone at JAC Megamall, more often than not, messes up the rates and computations. Nobody from JAC ever told me that PDVD member accounts should be handled by someone else or if there were any policy changes. And no, I don't think I'm the only one having such issues with JAC.
Analyn is for retail accounts so the 2 pound minimum is the rule. Corporate accounts need to be labeled for Jet. C.
I actually made the same mistake of having Analyn handle my account initially. I had the impression that since they belong to the same company as Jet C, that I would be getting the PDVD discounted rates. It was only later that I realized that PDVD rates/promos posted here only apply to accounts handled by YAB/Jet Creus.
I ship my stuff to NJ addressed to Jet C. I always get 2 lbs as minimum - haven't experienced that 1 lb. minimum supposedly accorded to PDVD members.
You have to insist on it upon claiming when you have a really small package.

According to the Fedex tracking info, the addressee had moved. Later, Fedex updated and said that the package had been picked up - I assume that they called your NJ office and your staff went to the Fedex office to pick up the package.
Since the JAC NJ address hasn't changed, I assume that Jet Creus has moved to the NY office (that's what your website is saying). Do we need address our packages to Ray Lai at the NJ office? Ray Lai is the person indicated in your website as handling NJ.

Brader, that was the name suggested to me by Myla/Trixie when I had a problem with the longer Johnny Air name. I had a problem when the shipping label of one online seller did not include the entire name so nawala pangalan ko sa label. Nadelay tuloy since it took a while for JAC to trace and identify the package without my name.
Kaya I use the abbreviated JAC name plus my short name para siguradong kasya sa shipping labels.

I've been using Johnny Air Cargo for 3 years now thanks to pinoydvd. I've been very satisfied with their service so far.
I've recently noticed that they started opening packages. My last three packages have JAC calendars inside them while the latest one has a broken seal(I took pictures). I've already asked Ms. myla and ms. Trixie over at philmug about this but got no reply. They state on their waybill that all packages pass through scanners so I'm curious why they need to open them then if they do pass through scanners? Also there's nothing on their T&C that there's a chance that they might open our package to check for prohibited goods.
I'm okay with them opening my package but what I would like is for them to be up front about it, state it in their
T&C or website. Someone at philmug posits that customs open the packages and Jac might just have inserted the calendars, however we all know that the packages come in bulk and that customs don't inspect them one by one.
My husband while getting our package at Megamall just a while ago saw someone else complaining about the seal being broken on their package too. Tsk, JAC might get a lawsuit in their hands of they don't put up a disclaimer somewhere about opening packages.
I was surprised as well. I've been using them for years but this was the first time it happened to me. I bought some 'goodies' from Amazon on black friday. I recently got the package from johnny air, and the box was obviously opened and damaged. I did not bother to open and check as I trust that my stuff will still be intact after using them for years. But when I came home and opened the box, surprised that I was missing 2 blu-ray discs :( There goes my black friday savings...

JAC Plus does not consolidate packages into a single box. We offer discounts on multiple packages in a single flight
So, if I order from Amazon and Target, each order may arrive on different dates - let say, maximum of 7 days interval, I understand that JAC will have to treat each one independently since JAC doesn't consolidate. And if both packages are forwarded here in one flight, I'll get a discount, right? Is the discount that significant - or better (cheaper) pa rin to cram as much items in one order so we only treat it as one shipment?
My Qs:
1. How will we communicate regarding multiple packages - so I can avail the discount on "one flight"?
2. How many days max will you keep our packages for them to be considered as "one flight"?
Next, the rates are the real questions for many... Specific to my needs, if boxes of LEGO puzzles in one shipment totals to 40in x 30in x 8in at probably 7lbs, what's the estimated cost to ship it to Megamall? I shared the sentiments of the last poster (kenobi). I got my packages yesterday and was informed that about a week has passed since they started implementing 2lbs minimum package charge even if you are a pdvd member. They should have announced it months before so we can be prepared. Or, they could have emailed their regular customers that beginning such date JAC will be charging 2lbs minimum. It's bad enough that amazon.com split my packages into two, now I paid almost double for each!

I am sorry for my late reply on this matter, Please be advised that the minimum chargeable wt. of a Pinoy DVD member is no longer 1 lb. but 2 lbs.It is imposed starting 2014 that the the standard minimum chargeable wt. will be applied to all our customer which is 2 lbs.
Thus, we will still give discounts on the handling fees of your multiple parcels wherein we will waive it once we received it in US within a week.

Is it possible to just lump multiple packages arriving at the same date/time to your office in NJ into one? Bunch them up into one (with packing tape) then measure the volume, and weigh, and calculate the fee from whichever (volume weight or actual weight) is higher.

If a friend or relative based in NY or NJ sends something via JAC to Manila, can said shipping be paid here in Manila, lets say in JAC, SM Megamall?
I ask since I called JAC to ask about this and the guy whom I spoke with said it can be done. So, I requested a friend to send 2 pairs of shoes. Sadly, JAC, USA said it can't be done and my friend was constrained to pay for it.
^From what I know, what he should have done is send it to your JAC address. He will pay for shipping from his place to JAC then you'll pay shipping costs from the US to here.

Di nyo po ba talaga uninformed customer nyo if there is a big difference between the actual weight vs volume. I have a package from amazon which contain a pair of shoes and 4 pair of jeans total of 5 items the actual weight is around 8-10lbs. But they told me today that the shipping charge will be 10,413.64 which is more or less the same amount as the package itself since the volumetric wt is at 34lbs. Not sure why they put it in that large box. But you should have informed us in advance if there are very large difference between the actual wt and vol wt as I'm only expecting a fraction of that as your shipping rate.

Kung na-track nyo na delivered na sa kanila, after ilang days usually kayo ini-inform ng US office na may natanggap silang shipment?
They don't proactively inform you when a package arrives at their US location. They inform you when the package arrives in Manila already.They have an online tracker at their web site.
What I do is I email their customer support to confirm if they indeed received my package.
- Ordered Yeezy 350s from Yeezy Supply shipped to JAC
- Package arrived in Philippines and when I opened it, Nike women's sandals laman
- Reported it right away to JAC seeking for help in investigating what happened. I also reported it to adidas USA which runs Yeezy Supply.
- JAC response was very defensive right away stating they will investigate but already front loading a litany of excuses for themselves:
1. They've always had issues withDHLFedEx - the US domestic shipper of YS
2. The tape used to reseal the package was of a different width that they use at their offices (???)
3. It will be very difficult to check their CCTVs
4. The pilferage/switch could have happened anywhere during the shipment
- My points were:
1. Their own documents showed that they acknowledged receiving a package of the exact same weight that was indicated by Yeezy SupplyDHLFedEx docs - the Nike sandals were not even 1/2 the weight on their documents - they explained this by sayingDHLFedExgave the actual weight but theirs is "volumetric weight" although their documents just stated "weight" - and what a coincidence that the weight DHL had matched their "volumetric weight"
2. My payment to them was also based on the weight they declared which again matched the DHL stated weight
3. If it is true that they ALWAYS had issues withDHLFedExUS, then why no additional due diligence on their part when receivingDHLFedEx packages?
I was really just looking for some assistance from them to hopefully resolve the issue. I understood that the switch could have indeed happened at any point in the chain of custody. However, from the onset, I felt there was no willingness to help at all. They just ghosted me after a few days, not replying to emails or messages or phone calls. I had been an active user of JAC for several years up to that point. They were good, but if an issue comes up, don't expect anything from them.
I posted my experience with JAC on a my FB sneaker groups and I got messaged by a handful of other members who had a similar if not the exact experience with them. None of them were also resolved. There was one member whose issue got addressed, but only after several months and after the guy - according to him - lawyered up.
This happened around October last year
