Yung mga game shows ay Culture of Gambling ang prinopromote.. walang pinagkaiba sa Jueteng, lotto, bingo.. Example: Game KNB? P10 per minute ang call and to text your winning combination, P10 per text. Talagang lantaran ang panlilinlang sa Pinoy na naghihirap!

la pa naman akong nasasalihan kasi nga kailangan 18 and above... sa quiz show sa LG collins nasali ko nung 3rd year last last year... kaso talo ;D

oo nga wala tayong originality, at least ung sa Game Ka Na Ba medyo original... in fact, i-eexport (o import?) ung format nung show sa ibang bansa... :) just shows that we filipinos certainly have the creative juices in our systems... thumbs up to Game Ka Na ba and ABS-CBN 8)

watched the Correspondents last night and coincidentally the first topic was about game shows. i think what they meant by original was that unlike the other game shows from other stations, GKNB is not syndicated from foreign ones like Who Wants, Weakest Link, Family Feud, The Price Is Right. they also said even the computer software is proudly Filipino. my view is that it may not be original but it still is a product of Filipino ingenuity. gaya gaya pa rin. ;D

Talking of game shows...
Napikon ako the first time i watched "THE WEAKEST LINK". I just think that the show doesn't show sportsmanship. Walang values na itinuturong maganda esp sa mga bata. Typical filipino trait na hindi maganda, crab mentality. Yung pinakamagaling, un ang natatanggal. Sagot sa akin ng nephew ko, strategy daw yun.. Ah ewan, basta kakabanas!!!

Okay lang sa akin yung family feud... at least fair ang laban...
Kung originality naman hanap nyo here, eh wala ata nun.. puro sugal talaga pinoy... tong-its version marami... he he... ;D

Then I saw him at GAME KNB - he was luckier that time, he was able to make it up to P500,000.00, then he tried his luck at P1M but was not able to answer the question.
He was in all three shows in a span of 1 week!

I've even heard na in order to join those game shows, one call is not enough. Yung iba raw umaabot pa ng thousands yung phone bills nila before they can get in the show. Ba't ka nga naman makakapasok with just one phone call, eh its thru those charged phone calls that they make their money.

of course naman..GINSENG lamang ang alam ng karamihan.. ano pa ba ang sagot!! pangshowbiz talaga ang question!! Talagang GKNB!!
Sali na baka maging celebrity ka rin!! ang P10 mo ay magiging ONE Million PEsos! Isang pag-uuto sa mga masang Pinoy!! Anyway uto-uto naman talaga! Statistically hindi lamang P10 para makaconnect ka.. you need to make a lot of calls! Hay SUGAL!! Pinoy lifestyle kaya hindi umasenso ang ating bansa!

Here's the catch. Game KNB? gives away only 80% of the total winnings since the 20% goes to tax. Isn't that plain deception to call their winner a millionaire when he/she in fact only gets 800,000 pesos?

On the side, not because maraming endorsement ang tao ay hindi na kailangan ang pera...In fact, yung maraming pera mga tao need more money... Greed ang tawag yan.. buti pa ang matakaw kapag nabusog ay titigil kumain, pero when it comes to money and power ay hindi tumtigil ang tao to accumulate.. even DVD aquisition! kailan titigil? after 10, 100, 1000 or 10000 collections?

The show is a business that's designed to make profits. They would not have the money to give without the show or publicity.
The money comes from the show's revenues or earnings.
Without a sizeable audience, advertisers would not buy air time, the show would not earn, consequently, no money to give.
It seems this cycle is necessary to ensure an income stream. They give the money in that manner to get the most media mileage and free publicity, this will give the show a larger audience share and therefore sustained revenues.

This is not entirely correct, but it is not entirely wrong either.
I read somewhere that "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" was banned in some Muslim Countries because of the requirement of having to pay to get in (the toll phone call). I guess that was for the stricter Muslim Countries. Indonesia has been showing it, I am not clear as to the mechanics of the show there.
Having said that, paying to get in can qualify it as gambling as there are cash prizes involved, the entrance fee can be classified as a bet.
On the other hand, the revenues of the show are not entirely derived from the toll phone calls, but from sponsors. So it does not necessarily qualify as gambling.
We could be splitting hairs here on a fine point, but I believe my earlier post on this being a business cycle still holds true. The charity is a form of promotion, but I don't think that it exists to justify the "gambling".
Besides when you look at it closer, the charity came from the winner and not the show. The show would have had to give the prize money anyway to the winner.
Just my observation.

Why so surprised? I've always thought Kris A. is a talentless social climber. Her shows succeed (if ever -- remember just how many short-lived shows she has had since she entered showbiz) or more often fail due to her enormous lack of appeal, intelligence, and audience empathy.

It was only tonight that I was able to see it.
Naawa nga ako kay Kris kasi if you observe the manner in which she talks eh madali siyang mapapaos sa show na iyon.
The irritating part for me is when she points to the audience and she asks.. "Game ka na ba?" Sobrang paulit-ulit.
Nainis naman ako kasi the fonts they are using are sometimes not easily readable. Eh medyo malaki na ang TV ko, what more kung maliit na TV?.
But come to think of it, there were a lot of "puna" during the first showings of Who Wants... Baka naman we're also going thru the same thing but this time we have Who Wants to compare with.

My "Quote" still won't work...eniweys, yun pala sinasabi nila drama ng show. Wawa naman si Kris, nag-run tuloy mascara nya (duh). ??? But in fairness to her, nakaka-iyak talaga experience ni Julia, mahirap mag-commute 'no! Este, ma-remata! Este, maloko pala ng manager! :'(
Martin Nievera pala was the first choice to host the show but had to turn down the offer because of previous commitments... Hmm, lucky him!!! I think he's too good for the show. Walang kokontra, opinyon ko lang yon ::)
On Weakest Link, I think it will start airing on Monday na, the 15th (aba! kasabay ng sale sa Astrovision!) ;D

Game KNB?'s a well thought game show, but what makes the show presented badly is none other than KRIS AQUINO.
Her personality gives the show a bad image. She even puts the contestant to shame infront of national TV, plus there are moments when she beautifies herself like saying "This ring of mine is made out of moon stone, the correct answer to the question."
Game KNB will be a better show WITHOUT Kris Aquino if you ask me.
