will a surround bar produce the same soundstage as the separates?
i read in a review (fhm magazine) it reviewed the yamaha, denon and another soundbar, the name i can't remember, but the denon won the shoot-out. its published price then was 55k, it was even cheaper than the yamaha.
Chief,
can you PM me the FHM month it came out? Was it local? ???
meron ang sony very nice ang feedback sa cnet.com cts100 yata. ( just google sony soundbar)
worth 300 us dollars or 15k lang sa pinas. ganda nito may buit in amplifier na so you do not need any receiver. very nice!!!!

@ iiinaslao: Got it from the old Marketplace here in Pinoydvd sometime last year. It cost me P10k, brand new and came from the US.
^is it true that surround sound reproduction isn't so good? do you use a separate subwoofer, or the one that comes with it?
due to space constraints, i might be forced to let go of my present 5.1 set-up when i move houses late this year, so i'm really contemplating soundbars as an alternative.
the polk audio surroundbars are actually pretty good. it won't beat a real 5.1 system but it's not a bad compromise. i've had clients who auditioned this and they were pretty impressed saying they can hear the sounds coming from the left and right and back of the room as well. :) send me a pm if anyone wants to check it out. :)
hi guys..would you happen to know kung ilalabas ba ito sa pinas (or at least pwede thru order sa mga dealer):
http://www.circuitcity.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4171786&Sku=Y23-6016
tagal ko na ito tinitignan, ok naman daw yung sounds niya, crisp din, but being a soundbar, doesn't do surround as good as the real thing(s)..
question re soundbars.. do these have their own powered amp? i mean.. no need for avr?
whats the recommendation for a loud yet crisp soundbar with its own built in amp? ikakabit ko sa na sa LCD/plasma monitor that doesnt have a built in speaker.
I suggest either the Polk Audio SurroundBar 360 or the Polk Audio SurroundBar Instant Home Theater.
1) SurroundBar 360
(http://www.polkaudio.com/images/site/surroundbar/360-dvd-theater-withcd.jpg)
Comes with a built in receiver, upscalling DVD player and 5 channel surroundbar. You don't even need a sub, as the surroundbar generates a lot of bass. Retail price is less then P80,000
2) SurroundBar Instant Home Theater
(http://www.polkaudio.com/images/site/surroundbar/iht-frontview.jpg)
Comes with a built in amplifer and a wireless sub. You don't need a receiver. Retail price is less then P33,000
All the reputable AV stores have the surroundbar in stock. Go for an audition
was hoping for Sony Philippines to bring in the HT-CT100. great reviews from most of the sites i've visited. the price is easy on the wallet as well.
Hi,
if your looking for an easy on the wallet soundbar, why don't you consider the PolkAudio SurroundBar Instant Home Theater. It comes with a wireless sub.
I'm thinking of improving the sound that comes out of our 32-inch LCD in the bedroom and I dont want to deal with the cost & complexity of a 5.1 receiver, 5 speakers, wires, IC, etc........and a soundbar with a wireless sub does seem an enticing solution.
........however, if these systems range in the 30k+, it'll more than the cost of the LCD itself. Is there anything cheaper out there? Maybe in the vicinity of 15-20k?
I think most economical is to get those computer speaker type systems wherein the sub's amp powers the fronts. Definitely louder than the integrated LCD speakers. You could also get an HTIB and plug the TV audio out to the auxiliary input of the HTIB.
Was also considering going the soundbar route pero ang mahal. I ended up investing in a full set-up na lang. Halos same price lumabas. We also don't have an option of having it shipped from the US, where its cheaper since soundbars are huge and mapapamahal ka talaga sa shipment.
Guys.I have limited space in our room and naiinis na din ako sa wires.I have a 2.1 set-up, but I've read about soundbars. Is this better than a 2.1 set-up?And what brand/model would you suggest?
TIA
@avshop
do you have the Polk Audio SurroundBar SDA?
@avshop:
where is your location and can you post/pm me the price?
thanks
hi. what's the difference between 500cht vs. 6000? i checked the link pero di ko masyadong maintindihan. sorry newbie lang :)
i have no plans of adding rear speakers but i want a soundbar with dedicated subs. thanks.

If you pay cash, the stores will give you a good discount.
Hello guys,
long time no look na sa forum after starting a family
now the family is looking for a presentable home movie experience in the living room
so I'm shopping for a soundbar - this Polk 6000, looks okay pati price
where can I avail of this model?
Glad I stumbled upon this thread. Also a newbie to the soundbar + subwoofer set up. I'm interested in one since I've become averse to HT set-ups that take up a lot of space and are complex. I've listened to the demo of the Bose Cinemate and it was very impressive. But because it's Bose, the price is quite steep. Aside from the Bose and Polk soundbars, what are the other recommended/comparable soundbars available in local stores (pref. in Makati or Alabang)?
Harman Kardon SB16, JBL SB300, Yamaha ysp-2200, YSP-4100 or YHT-S400 so far these are the more common soundbars I have seen, aside from the ones you already mentioned.
Harman Kardon and JBL soundbars can be found in the "JBL store" in the fort and possible spectra in park square 1. They sell for around 20-30k. Yamaha's At "5th avenue" in park square 1. There sound bars a little pricier around 30k-80k but probably sound the best.
At 80k you can buy a full 5.1 set.
Up ko lang po...
Are there any new owners of Soundbar here? Any insights review? I'm looking at the JBL's SB400 which looks promising...

Last year, I was also choosing between the HK SB26 and JBL SB400. Sound-wise, you won't go wrong with either of the two. I opted for the HK26 due to its looks and it having a bigger subwoofer driver (10" vs 8" of the JBL). :)
sound quality-wise, it's the same?Honestly, I didn't do any critical listening since it's just for a secondary setup. Besides, I can't remember now exactly how the JBL sounded when I auditioned it hehe.
any other factor besides aesthetics and a bigger woofer that made you choose the hk over jbl?

i saw jbl sb400.. and liked it.. saan po merong hk sb26? similar priced ba? thanksThe SB350 should have BT if it's the same as the one sold in Amazon.
yung sb350 yata mas mababang model... no bluetooth... with wireless subs.. mas makitid ng 2 to 3 inches... still sounds nice though...
according to jbl sa north edsa
sb400 is 27500php cash
sb350 is 17500php cash
Sir selling my Philips Soundbar Speakers HTLB6140B for 17k..orig price is 34k.brandnew po.latest model ng philips. DTS Digital Surround, Dolby Digital po siya.you can check the specs on their website po.you can contact me po @09226396534
Add a little more on your budget and get a DALI Kubik one. It's more of a hifi sound system than a soundbar. No HDMI input though.
I found the pioneer andrew jones sb23 nuetral and natural sounding.
I heard it too and agree with you. But i ended up with the jbl sb350 due to its smaller size... The pio sb23 felt heavier and thus could not be placed in my bedroom setup.
Happy with the jbl
JBL SB400. One of the best at Sub 30K budget. One of our best sellers yan
Guys anyone here owns this?

Inquired in Sony Store 28k Cash. The rear speakers will solve the surround concerns on soundbars.
hi, sir.
are the wireless rear speakers battery powered? where's the location of the Sony Store? TIA =)
Okay yun jbl 450
If you just want to improve the sound of your tv, it's okay. I heard it and did not wow me. I prefer the pioneer sb23w over it's jbl counterpart. If you have the budget you might want to consider it. Cost probable 3x than sb150.

I've been meaning to get a nice soundbar for watching movies as well. Mahina yung sound coming from my TV especially movies. Can't even understand most of the conversations. Anyone knows where I can audition soundbars for a small condo apartment?
I'm actually considering a soundbar so I can mount it on the wall together with my TV to save some space yet still get to enjoy great audio video. Apartment's a bit on the small size. ;)
How about JBL SB150? Di ko lang alam length ng soundbard kaya di ko mabili. Available in Lazada.

If you have a little more budget i recommend jbl sb 400 . It has a deeper bass... Saka mas ma appreciate mo sya specially watching movies :)
Na-inspire ako kay xgh0st12x. I really wanted to improve on my TVs speakers (myView). His post suddenly reminded me that Sound Base is the better option, rather than Sound Bar. Wala na masyado nag carry nang Sound Base locally, so I turned to Amazon. I found this fantastic deal for only $54.49 (tax included).
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00P3E78MG/
Hopefully it arrives in the next 6 weeks. Will keep you updated. I plan to plug in my TV's headphone jack out, into the Line in of the Sound Base. That way, the TV speakers get muted automatically. I actually plan to split the headphone out to 2. One goes into the Sound Base for regular viewing, and the other into my wireless headphone base for late night viewing.
JBL SB150 in Lazada is around 7.4-7.6k depending on the supplier. The subwoofer though is so-so to mediocre. Maliit at manipis masyado. Hindi ramdam ang bass. The SB250 is alot better. There is a big price difference of 5k though.I auditioned it sa Megamall, and you're right. Kulang na kulang ang bass.

Ordered the JBL SB100 from Lazada and costs P5939. My mom will be using it for her TV as the internal speakers of the TV has static in bassy scenes. I surmise the speakers are busted already. I have an extra AR 10" active sub which I plan to attach to the soundbar.Kaso mas maganda pa sound ng Creative SBS E2400 mo kesa dito.

Good thing about the soundbar is that it can learn the volume and mute buttons of the TVs remote. My mom is non techie so she can use only the TV remote to control both the TV and the soundbar volume.
You may want to try this. Just saw it today @ lazada. looks like this is louderAkala ko you already purchased it or na-try mo na kaya your suggesting it.

mga bros, am choosing between Bose Cinemate 130 and Sony St9, which one is better? sa mga owner ng ST9, may mga instances ba na sa sobrang ganda ng sound ng movie, akala mo may mga boses coming from your back? thanx.
ST9 for me based on auditions. Expansive sound, good for a small area.
was just looking at that too.. hehe
how much inabot chief?it only cost you around 67k.
benta mo na sb350 sir?type ko lang sb400.. pero cant afford... and... so far for my small room.. laking improvement nadin over my old chinese brand 12 year old 2.1 pc speakers.. hehe

looking at the specs on teh net, i didnt see connection for a sub, what i found was dapat may kasama sya na wireless sub? pano ang connection na ginawa mo sir kung ginamit mo yung polk psw110 mo, am also considering this, dahil same din ang gamit ko na sub sa 2.1 setup ko.
thanks.

good buy for PhP7500... makakabili ka pa ng subwoofer of your choice. pero mukhang wala siya DTS decoder, magko-convert ka pa...

any recommended soundbar around 5k? just for basic viewing/listening?I got LG sh5 based on the recommendation of some forumers here for 8,990. Sulit for its price.
Guys, biglang nag-iba plano ko so hindi na ako bibili ng ST9. Ask ko na lang if ok na alternative yung Sony CT380/390? Thanx.
any recommended soundbar around 5k? just for basic viewing/listening?
Both are okay with CT390 being the newer model of CT380. I have a CT380 hooked up on a Sony 40" in the dining area since November of last year. Works great!
Check mo sa Lazada sir.
Just got my JBL SB-150 from them for only 6k :)
Thanx, Sir! Totoo ba na mapapalingon ka sa surround nya? also, saan po kayo nakakuha and magkano yung CT380 nyo? thanx.
Kelan mo nakuha sir sb150 mo? Ang muradi ko din napansin na umabot 6k yan.. mura nga.. possible less 500 pa thru citibank..
If Im not mistaken, I ordered the JBL SB150 Dec. 8 or 10 ata. Delivered Dec. 18...great price boss... hehe
got a sony htst9.. hope it doesnt disappoint..Please give some feedback regarding this. Planning to get one.
got a sony htst9.. hope it doesnt disappoint..
Di naman sa mapapalingon ka sa surround. Mahina kasi volume ng tv so with the soundbar, lumakas at lumaki ung sound, enough to appreciate what you are watching. Btw, CT380 & CT390 can play dts hdma and dolby true hd via hdmi arc.
Iba pa din ung may separate dedicated home theater set up, mas immersive yung experience. :)
Thanx, sir! How much and saan po ninyo nabili sir?
After so much thought and research, bought myself a Sony HT-ST9 to partner with my also recently-bought 4K TV. The thing was sold to me by Anson's Cash and Carry for P34,500. Thanx guys for all your inputs! Very satisfied with those two!

So far so good naman, sir. My GF got freaked when watching a movie, she thought someone on her left was whispering to her. hahaha!
I think the ST9 is good enough for the two of us to fully complement our 4K TV. Audition it before buying baka hindi kasi pumasok sa panlasa mo.
mga sirs, ok na rin ba pang videoke tong soundbars? ano marerecommend nyo for below 10k budget?
i'm considering LG sh5 (9k) or JBL SB250 (10k @ lazada)
one of the best ang Bose. I'll check if they have this Bose Cinemate 130 for auditioning at ATC. will share what I would find out, in case.
but since Bose is too pricey, we tend at looking for other same-level alternatives. I believe they could be the same in SQ but ST-9 becomes better in terms of 8ch audio processing.
Comparo:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-uAv1iONRPhH/compare_018CIN130_158HTST9/Bose-CineMate-130-home-theater-system-vs-Sony-HT-ST9.html
Thank you mga sirs for the feedback. Guess the only way to know is to audition the Bose system. Although my ears are not trained enough to notify the difference :)
Being a 7.1 and having lots of connectivity option, ST-9 beats the Bose CineMate. But I am after more on sound quality, like i.e. Surround Sound (i am reading reviews that the Bose Surround is good for the CineMate) or Clarity / Expansive sound

I've gone to see Soundtouch 130 at ATC awhile ago. sealed in box, malaki bax packaging niya ah! sabi ni Bose seller, di na siya ise-set-up sa store. It's 89K pesos less 5%. cash or card @ 6mos 0%.
Pero meron dun mas bagong model: Soundtouch 3000 (yata), so I listened to it. Maganda at lively soundstage, very crisp highs and bass is also good. He said there is a control for bass and treble, but we didn't anymore changed settings. Volume up & down lang.. It's 100K pesos! Fixed price but can be paid in 6mos 0%.
Thanks sir for the feedback! Will try to drop by sa GB5 tomorrow, baka may display dun ng soundtouch 130 para marinig ko din.
I just passed by Bose showroom @ GB5 today. Luckily, both Soundtouch 130 and Soundtouch 300 (newer model) is on display and available for audition.
I auditioned the soundtouch 130 and I am already pleased with the sound quality and surround performance. But wait, the Soundtouch 300 is even more impressive - it's almost like listening to a true 5.1 surround system. The subwoofer is also bigger compared the the 130 and has an upward firing 360 degree sound projection. the build quality is also good - they used tempered glass on both soundbar and sub.
Anyways - the Soundtouch 300 has a 100k price tag, 120k if you want to add the separate/add-on surround speakers. would really need some serious consideration if this is the piece to buy :)
Anybody here who bought already the Polk Audio Magnifi Mini? Seriously considering this one for a condo setup.

Bilisan nyooooooo!!!! :)
If you want the best SQ, try to audition Naim Mu-so or its smaller brother, Naim Mu-so Qb at Architectural Audio in GB5.
I've tried this one, it is very good for music listening, but for surround sound, the Soundtouch 130 is the best one I've tried
how much ang mga naim soundbars?
thanks sir. i actually use satellite speakers now in my room. another reason why i'm considering a sound bar is because i read somewhere that most of them have built in Dolby 5.1, DTS decoder already. I don't have an AVR dito kasi sa room ko so i'm not able to utilize DTS from my PS3 and DVD and no sound output naman ang DTS encoded file from Popcorn Hour. mejo matrabaho naman if lilipat ko pa yung PCH sa main watching room dito sa bahay. :)
I guess those two are the factors. Space saving and the DTS decoding feature :)
Bit the bullet last Sunday :)
I was in Mega Mall and saw a poster on the Mega Brands Sale from March 31 to April 2. So I went with the intention to buy running shoes. However, when I got there, I saw a display of soundbars from JBL and Harman. Its been quite a while now that I have been wanting to buy a soundbar for my bedroom. Been eyeing the HK SB26, but could not quite afford it due to its high price point. Then, the salesman told me that they already have the latest model of HK that was launched last Sept. 2016 - the SB20 by HK. I auditioned it and it was awesome. The best part is, it was on 20% off, so I finally got one :)

sir, I'm also in the hunt for a good soundbar, and my purpose is primarily for movies ... I was only able to audition the Bose models which were very good in simulating surround sound, but the price is a killer ... is this HK model that you bought good for simulating surround sound, or primarily for music only? thanks in advance and congrats to your new gear
^ are you still using Wetek Hub, sir?
can the HK SB20 decode AC3 & DTS and downmix TrueHD & DTS-HD movie sources? TIA!
recently after moving my bedroom HT rig to my media room I suddenly missed that big movie sound and decided to replace it with a less complicated yet still potent soundbar. This is my first soundbar endeavor and with the recommendation of a friend I purchased a SONOS Playbar for the bedroom to replace my HT. I also relied on reviews online prior to purchase and with a thumping heart purchased it without ever hearing it in action. Risky move for me because its something that I usually don't do when I purchase audio gear.
Sometimes when there is risk there is also reward.....man this thing sounds awesome. 9 digital amps mated to 9 drivers.

sir, I'm reading the specs from Amazon, this soundbar appears to be more for music, I didn't see them mention surround sound for home theater ... I've not gone through the details, but is the connection for audio via optical cable only, and no HDMI? ... the speaker specs looks excellent - I'll consider this one if it can also produce surround sound for HT ... thank you in advance
Yes, same here. As I was reading thru the reviews, this sound bar is really more for audio music than it is of HT surround sound use. :)
I can attest to that and its really what I wanted in the first place since its purpose in my application is probably 70% casual listening to music and 30% for simulated HT. Maybe to get that full HT experience one needs to add the corresponding Sonos playmates (Sub and two Play 1's) but for the price its just doesnt make sense to me.
Thanks Stickfighter, Happy Easter
Thanks for the kind words. This is my first soundbar and im really new to this but let me give you what I experienced so far.
First off is the cost and the sourcing. This cost me 700USD and sourced via amazon then handcarried alll the way here to the Phil. The local distro's price is Php53.5K so the amazon option is the way to go. I checked out a lot of SB's online via lazada and some audio stores but was never excited with the specs and looks.
Now the connection...yes it has only one physical connection and that is the fiber optic cable. It decodes DD5.1 via apple TV gen 3 via this route. No DTS though. Since its a Sonos you can download the Sonos app on any IOS device, Android device, PC or Mac and use those sources to stream music. Its the Sonos app that is the killer here. Very simple to link up, use and you can access your entire library of music on each source. You get room tuning and EQ plus expandability options whic I will talk about later.
Now to the simulated HT sound...well in my opinion it simulates the front 3 channels very well from a single chassis because that is what it is...essentially a front 3.0 crammed in one chassis. The front channel separation may not be like that of a full blown HT rig and I fully expectd that from the get go but for a soundbar its is probably as good as it gets for the price.
Now for music...and that is the reason why i purchased the Sonos...many online reviews say that it delivers in that category. Im not that into HT that much except for the Netflix movies and series these days but I listen a lot to music and this is where it excels....a whole damn lot. It doesnt aspire to beat my Dynaudios and it wont but for a speaker that has 6 - 3.5 inch mids it punches out good bass. The highs are delivered by 3 tweeters oriented to fire straight out and to the sides. I believe they are of the metal dome variety. No eq adjustments made and all controls set to flat, it is enjoyable to listen to casually.
Looks..well its like one of those components that looks subdued but serious. Can be wall mounted or just plopped down on a table. Its built in accelerometer will readjust the bass in either orientation.
Expandability...this is where I am both excited but nervous. The optional Sonos sub is once again $700 and one will need 2 Sonos Play 1's ($300 each) for the rear channels to elevate the system up to full 5.1. So all in all that is $2K. That rig is wireless...only the Soundbar needs a single LAN connection and it will be the master to all the other Sonos components. This is a route that I wont be going for becuase it will defeat the exact purpose of why I got the SB in the first place and that is to simplify but accept the expected compromises. At best I will go for the Sonos sub late this year. Said to deliver extension down to 25hz which i seriously doubt and im sure that it wont be able to topple my REL's in bass delivery but its addition will give the Playbar a better bottom end plus it will make the sound even fuller and less strained even at higher volumes. As it is right now all by itself its sounds superb already and most users will be happy for what it can deliver. Probably im just used to having bass augmentation in my systems thats why there is still an itch to scratch.
@stickfighter, can the HK SB20 decode DTS-encoded movies and downmix TrueHD & DTS-HD movie sources? TIA!
since the Sonos Playbar doesn't have DTS license, I guess @synchro_01 would be stocked with DD encoded movies only. but since his application is for music, then he's not bothered without DTS, anyway... =)
you dont sound like marsie.. hahahaYun may 2 satellites sana sa likod. Pero tried testing the jbl sb450 and harman sb20. Mas ok sa sound quality si harman. Mas more on bass lang si jbl. Yun lg sh8 naman parang ang layo ng tunog pag compare dito sa 2.
5.1 meaning may surround speaker sa likod? or 5.1 siya pero front lang?
you dont sound like marsie.. hahahaKamusta naman pala yun soundbar mo. Anong model yun at ok naman ba?

Yup! Magaganda Yamaha YSP Series.
I have been using a YSP2200 for the longest time and I recently upgraded it to a YSP 2500.
Almost same yung sound quality, more updated features lang yung YSP 2500 and 4K passthrough vs 1080p passthrough of 2200.
If I may ask, how much did you get the YSP 2500, and which local vendor carries the product ... thanks in advanceI got mine on sale last April while I was in the US. Used it there for a couple of days then I had it shipped and got it last week lang. *TAGAAAAL!*
anyone here using an atmos soundbar? pls share your experience/s
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I highly doubt that a soundbar can replicate an Atmos experience.

At best, simulated surround sound. Atmos? I doubt it too.
You are both correct. But at least they can process the signals in their raw/uncompressed format. Which makes it ideal for not so big viewing areas.

Thanks for the replies re: atmos soundbar. Apologies I forgot to mention that I will be living in a condo. Living room has a squarish dimension and ceiling is not high. So I guess bouncing sound will be very effective in simulating atmos sound. Samsung HW-K950 (5.1.4 where main sound bar has 2 up-firing speakers as well as the wireless rear speakers) and LG SJ9 (5.1.2) are currently available here in Philippines but can't find any on display/demo on most stores I've been to (the LG SJ9 is currently by order basis). I don't know yet if Sony HT-ST5000 is available here.
If any of you know of any store which has these on display please let me know. TIA.

It's 110V though. 5th Ave carries the 220V version. Was supposed to get from them for warranty and voltage convenience, pero the Amazon offer was really good then. Wala na now, wanted to get one for my parents sana.

Ano ba recommended soundbar with dts/dolby support?
Sent from my LG-H990 using Tapatalk
IMHO, dba sir ang audio support naman ng mga files ineencode po yun ng player na gagamitin ninyo?Depends on how you connect pero most often, the player will just give digital signals and the soundbar has to decode the digital signal. Those DTS and Dolby are proprietary so kailangan both the player and the "receiver" (the soundbar) in this case needs licensing for the gears to decode DTS or Dolby etc.
ang soundbar po ata sir tatanggap lang po yan ng signal from your source. kaya kahit anong soundbar will do .
correct me nalang if im wrong with this..

Thank you sir. Bought the lg sj9 a month ago at ansons cash n carry for 27K. The supervisor applied the discount promo from 38,990 down to 27,990 without recquiring me to buy an lg 4k tv (from what i know the discount can be applied if you buy a 4k tv). And to top it all he gave me a 990.00 additional discount. So for 27K, i think i got a very good deal.
sir, I'm considering this one, how does it perform on movies and music listening?Sound quality with music source is better than my jbl sb400 (using Bluetooth connection). I don't have a 4K Blu-ray atmos player yet so I can't say anything regarding its "atmos" sound capability. But with downloaded movies with 5.1 sound is much better than my jbl sb400 regarding sound quality and separation.

Hi guys, I've been lurking here for a while now. I finally decided to purchase my first soundbar. I'm eyeing JBL's SB350, but it seems that they're not too popular here in this forum. Can anybody point me to a better soundbar within (or even cheaper) than the SB350 that's available locally? They're popular here sir. And I'm not sure if there are other cheaper options that can perform at par with SB350.
Thank you!
happy with my sb350...
looking for something similarly priced(kayalang got them on sale kaya i duno if makakahanap pako) na similar performance din for my parents bedroom..
if may mura.. ok din sb350 din kunin ko for them

ito po yan? i wonder what box dimension is.. does anyone know?.. to compute for shipping :D maikli pala.. nakikita ko yan noon.. kayalang di ko inisip maganda dahil sa itsura.. masyado ako stuck na soundbars should be long.. hehe
Di nga ganun kaganda tunog ng JBL SB..Masyado manipis.. My dad in law had one last year.. Nagupgrade agad :) Nakatambak nalang now yung SB sayang nga hehe
Plus 1 on the Magnifi Max.. I was looking at the Epson 5040ub and then kala ko I was listening to big speakers nung hifi show nagulat ako Soundbar lang gamit :)
Yes, yan yun. Box specs as per the website: Carton 1 17.7" (44.96 cm) h x 23.7" (60.2 cm) w x 10.3" (26.16 cm) d - 21 lbs (9.53 kg)thank you sir :D laki din pala.. masyado sakto sa balikbayan box hehe
We have the SB250 model na napanalunan ng kapatid ko sa raffle. Tested it out for the first time yesterday and same din yung sentiment ko sa sound quality na medyo manipis nga ang tunog.if not satisfied and plan to sell.. mukhang meron mga interested dito... including me.. hehe (basta good price)
Where can we get a local supplier for Vizio soundbars.. The Vizio SB3651-E6 looks great! The SB3621 is reviewed as the best budget soundbar for 2017. Bad trip lang coz its priced between 120-250 dollars sa AMAZON but because of shipping, i will have to add 200 dollars more!
guys any recommended Samsung soundbar??? my friend ask me kung my alam ako kasi samsung TV ang bibilhin nila so samsung soundbars lang din ang offers na package..
Their most high end one would be the best. HW-K950 = around 45-50k i think.
The other one would be the The HW-Ms650, but haven't seen or heard of it here.
Necessary ba ang hdmi input and output when buying a soundbar? Or optical will do. Plan to connect mi box sana. And if optical, do you connect the box it ditectly to the soundbar or use the tv optical output. Thanks.
tigas kasi ng ulo ng friend ko.. yan din ang sabi ko sa kanya. hanap sya maganda nakita at narinig ko rin yang k950.. pero ka presyo na halos ng TV nya. hahahaha
Saw the MS-650 being sold for 22.5k on samsung's ph fb page. so that might be a good alternative for him. There are others in the market if he's willing to consider other brands.
that's what i told him. but gusto samsung kasi ang binili nyang TV. kaya yung mga offer na package discounts sa soundbars samsung lang din. sabi ko wag nya nalang kagatin ang offer.
POLK Magnifi Mini : PANALO!Bakit hindi max sr.
Ok di ba sir. Ang ganda ng details nya for such small footprint.
Bakit hindi max sr.
Very OK Rick for a super compact size!Let's find out.
Hindi kaya sa acoustic foams mo Master ;D
Joking aside Master I just need a very compact size SoundBar & the Mini fits perfectly for my needs. I just cant imagine how the MAX would sound as this dwarf size Mini sounds like a giant already.
Ricky is right if you are after the ATMOS thing then you should go for the one w/ the ATMOS feature. The POLK MAX SR already has a lot of good feedbacks from our members here. As "gutierrez" said "I don't think you'd feel the atmos vibe in a soundbar" it's worth to try it first before getting one ;)i dont thinktit would matter even with a full atmos set up playing a non atmos movie. lalo na siguro kung soundbar lang yan it will be impossible to enjoy what a real atmos set up can do
Sana may maglabas ng Atmos wireless speakers. Hehe!

Kahit wireless need pa din outlet hahaha.
Thanks for the inputs guys. I decided to go for the Polk magnifi max sr. Just finished setting it up and I'm loving it so far with my limited testing. The wireless capabilities makes the whole setup a breeze and clutter free specially with the SR speakers. Placed them on our nightstands and it's done! You do have to plug the power cords on both of them. This is a huge upgrade from our ancient Logitech z5500 that we use in our bedroom were I had to remove the surround speakers to avoid messy wirings. SQ is really great and immersive. I'm surprised how well the night mode works... With just 1 push of a button it makes the dialogues clear and subtle while lowering the background levels. I can imagine how this will really help with my late night movies while my other half is sleeping. The lights on the soundbar is very subtle and doesn't bother me. ARC works well with the c7p and the Polk. 1 thing I need to get used to is the light notification as this is the only way you would know what's happening with your soundbar.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180218/2c64e3d37b3ef1eb285f8aec97592359.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180218/a62d6d98124e5f5147b5282d995024de.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180218/bd676db3d9e4cd6f33f9b26e2d89608c.jpg)

for 50k budget, small room, ht use, surround sound, any better option than max sr?
2 years ago I used to own the Sony ST9 then I sold it because I was supposed to upgrade sa Yamaha YSP-5600 (Php 84,000) but it never happened due to budget constraints... Fast forward to Dec. 2017, I attended the Annual HiFi Show in Dusit and there I was able to audition the Polk Audio Magnifi Max SR... and I will buy the set this month... >:DMaganda din yun "small" satellite speakers ng Golden Ear. Hindi ko lang afford talaga.
I was also quite impressed with the new Sony Ht-ST5000 but with the price of Php 70K I would rather get the Polk ;)
I think your other option that could rival the SQ of the Magnifi Max is the Focal Dimension Soundbar at around Php 55K to 60K without subwoofer and the Yamaha YSP-5600 at around Php 84K without subwoofer
for 50k budget, small room, ht use, surround sound, any better option than max sr?
guys any suggestions san pa may stock ng sony st9? wala na ako makita... baka may suggestions kayo, thanks! or anything similar...
If not st9, any suggestions for a 25k soundbar in a small room? thanks in advance :)
pag small room go with the max.. very compact but powerful
^thanks bro just finished reading it thanks :)
If the st9 is same price as mini which is a better buy? Sorry really new at this soundbar thing, old school pa yung last kong HT setup a 5.1 with whatfedae 9.1 pa hehe
I also read the st9 passthrough is 4k but not hdr, will that have an effect if i’m using an apple tv 4k and netflix 4k on the sony android tv? Thanks in advance :)
^is it really that good bro? i called polkl audio phils nga kaso sa moa pa pala ung showroom hehe medyo tempted to get one today... sayang nga yung st9, may mga new models na kasi sony wala na old stocks

lack of local warranty is indeed the main thing you will be gambling with.

We're not sure yet if the long soundbar of the max would fit a BB.
biggest BB that I used is 24" x 24" x 18"More than 42" yun sound bar alone.
Medyo OT, may mga nabibili ba pangsoundproof na ididikit lang sa wall? Medyo rinig na rinig kasi sa labas ng unit ko yung sounds. Sweet spot nya kasi for me is pag 70 and up ang volume.
To All Polk Magnifi Max SR owners:
Guys,
Have you tried feeding directly the soundbar with Atmos, dts:X and any HD Audio (True HD / Master Audio) format?
Capable ba siya mag downscale to 5.1?
Thanks in advance :)
Yes capable. But Atmos and DTS-X I haven't tried. However depende din sa material ata.
Yung mga may Magnifi Mini, how do you turn off the sub? Just unplug?
Does the Magnifi Mini downscale/handle DTS? @ricky, sent pm. TY
Yes.Thanks. Though just saw reviews/posts indicating it only decodes DD, not DTS. Could this mean something else?

can anyone suggest budget soundbars? :D
Looking for suggestions for a budget soundbar. Will be used in the bedroom where primary video source would be netflix? Target budget is below 6.5k but willing to add a little if the sound difference is substantial. I saw the Konzert-SBx-2x4 but I haven't heard it yet. Also saw JBL SB150, Samsung HW-K350 and LG SJ2 more or less around that price range. Any of them good? TIA! =)
hows lg sj9?
any reviews from PDVD?
+1 on this query ... what I like about the SJ9 is that it is ATMOS certified and does not need rear surrounds ... the form factor is very suitable for small rooms or condo living (like myself), but really best to get first hand review from PDVD members
I have the SJ9 as a soundbar in my living room in the condo. Haven't really put much thought into putting it through any test for the dolby atmos feature. Using it to watch netflix only and the sub is turned on if it's a movie i'm watching. It put outs decent sound and the wireless is subwoofer is ideal for less clutter in the condo. It's connected to the tv by the HDMI ARC so, it turns on and off automatically when the tv is turned on and off. Have tried the bluetooth function for playing spotify with the phone.
Impression: decent quality sound. Good power, can easily fill the condo with the sound.
Will try to see the surround / atmos feature when i play movies that extensively use them. Been only watching tv series on netflix and the movies i've watched aren't action packed - mostly dialogue. haha!
I'll wait for your review sir, normally the sound bars (surround bars) are good with movies and falters on pure music listening ... hopefully you can also give your impression on how good or bad it is for pure music listening ... thank you in advance :)
Netflix has 5.1 na. If you're looking for a soundbar that will be primarily used for Netflix, look for a soundbar that can decode 5.1 DTS and Dolby digital surround na. There are soundbars that can decode DTS and Dolby Digital pero sometimes ang question is, did you "feel" that 5.1 system. One thing i've noticed in most soundbars below the P10k range is the absence of the "surround" audio meaning you won't notice that panning or transition of the sound at the front going to the back vice versa.
the polk audio magnifi mini can decode a 5.1 sir? just got the mini and admittedly didnt do much research hehe its highly recommended here at pdvd and figured i cant go wrong with the choice of members here... i'm resigned to the fact it cant replace a 5.1 setup, but still its better if you know its decoding a 5.1 dts or dolby digital... going to use it on netflix and also have the 50mbps connection so hopefully i can take advantage of it... long term once a new space is available is really to get an atmos-powered receiver, but for now the polk audio soundbar hopefully is good enough, just using it in a small space anyway
^haha, its just for a small room sir hence the mini, but will go full blast on an atmos setup with a proper receiver in the living room. I have heard several soundbars, even sony's own atmos-enabled soundbars that are priced very high but didnt really get that feeling with having a full setup with receiver and separate speakers. The soundbars do have their appeal with small rooms hence i'm excited to have the mini setup. I heard it and the SR at MOA though admittedly i didnt bother with the specs, just wanted to hear it before buying and since its highly recommended here
Go for the polk magnifi max SR na! Haha! You’ll save money in the long run. You won’t be having whatif moments. Haven’t heard it but from the feedback and reviews it seems to be a really good buy.
I bought the lg sj9 at around 27k. I bought it along with all the appliances.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Tested it last night but went to the Youtube channel of Dolby to play Dolby Atmos content. I have a 50Mbps connection so i always get the 4k or HDR content when available in netflix and highest quality in youtube. TV is an LG SJ8500, the soundbar is connected by HDMI ARC. The LG SJ9 can definitely do the atmos / surround feature.
For music, will revert. In the few times that I connected my phone by bluetooth I did not do any critical listening but i can definitely say that it's adequate and better than i would expect from a soundbar (not that i have auditioned a lot of soundbars). I would have wanted to buy the Yamaha or Sony Atmos ones but was thinking that i might be splurging too much for a soundbar in the living room. So settled with an affordable LG SJ9.
Will try to test it tomorrow more for music. Will use spotify through bluetooth (extreme quality downloaded to the phone). Do you want me to test through a wired connection (aux) or from youtube / spotify launched from the tv?
pareho tayo ng TV sir ... bluetooth connection to test music would be the best review as that would likely be my usage ... thanks again sir :)
I'm also considering the Polk Audio max SR, but if there is something without physical surround speakers that can simulate the surround sound, that would be my preference due to my condo living lifestyle ... I've already tested the max SR, really superb for movies, but a little bit thin sounding for my taste when we tested listening to music (probably due to the source that we used)
does Youtube outputs 5.1 audio?
Which is better? Jbl bar 2.1 or magnifi mini? Thanks!
Ibang level yun polk magnifi line, not only for movies, pwede na din sya pang music.
Polk magnifi max na lang ba bilhin ko sir? Iniisip ko kasi meron dolby atmos yung lg sj9 pero walang rear speakers. Magnifi max walang atmos, pero meron rear speakers and 4 hdmi inputs niya. Thanks a lot
check the new Sony 2018 soundbars.. you have the option to purchase its matching wireless surround speakers in the future.. it has ATMOS/DTS:X as well. you may never know when you might want to jump to the current HD audio trend -- then ibebenta mo pa ano nabili mo soundbar ngayon.
if I may suggest sir, if you have the money now, go straight with the latest/future proof one..
wala na ata tao dito? heeh
galing ako spectra and listen up, 43k less 15% if cash.
Trying to look for soundbars with dolby atmos feature already...recommended ko polk magnifi max instead of getting jbl sb400.
Just try to back read ung mga messages nyu dito, is lg sj9 recommended nyu po ba?
Or are there some more good soundbars there that has dolby atmos?

Wala yata chief dolby atmos ang magnifi max. Lg sj9 okay naman daw kaso wala siyang dts x, and isa lang hdmi input niya. Try mo yung sony ht-z9f chief.

Does the sound bars with Atmos and DTS-X without ceiling speakers give that effect of having ceiling speakers?
It really depends on the type of walls and ceiling you have...
As we all know, these types of Atmos implementation depends of sound reflection.
If you have a relatively low and reflective ceiling, it will have an audible effect, but comparing it with dedicated physical ceiling speakers... That's another story.

good day, ask ko lang,Kailangan ba uhd disc na dolby atmos para maexperience ang overhead sounds? Got the sony z9f dolby atmos soundbar. Satisfied naman ako sa sound quality niya, curious lang sa atmos niya hindi ko pa kasi naririnig. Thanks mga sir
Hindi yata totoo yung ma-uupmix niya into atmos like yung mga non atmos files hehe.
Hindi ko pa natry sa uhd disc, bluray disc na dolby atmos. Wala pa kasi ako uhd/4k player. Thanks mga sir
though e download, try mo dolby atmos demo file.
https://www.demolandia.net/cinema/dolby-demo-trailers-hd/page-9.html
https://www.demo-world.eu/2d-demo-trailers-hd/
Sennheiser Ambeo Sounbar
$2,500 to $3,000 estimated price.
Tried all the dolby atmos trailers again, but too bad no overhead effects talaga hehe. I don’t know why hehe. Baka dahil sa ceiling, or dahil sa tv ko nilagay yung usb, walang dotby atmos yung tv, or baka talagang palpak dolby atmos ng z9f. Haha

does your soundbar have an indicator if it is receiving ATMOS signalling? normally it would have ... if it's not indicated that it's Dolby ATMOS, your source maybe the culprit ... I tried the LG SJ9 sound bar, that is a soundbar with sub-woofer and no rear speakers - aside from the fronts and center, everything is simulated ... on the SJ9, you can clearly hear sounds coming from overhead ... they were using a media player capable of Dolby ATMOS as a source
Guys medyo pa clarify po, if i want to decode a dolby atmos sound, kailangan po ba pati ung tv ko din nakaka decode ng dolby atmos or kahit regular 4k tv lang as long as my soundbar is capable of dolby atmos...?
pure acoustics na soundbar? ok kaya? mura lang kasi sa lazada. 5.5k

Does anyone here own a SJ9 or a SK10Y? What are your impressions?
Was very interested when I heard it last week and read some review. Problem when I auditioned, they had no 5.1 files to demo.
Planning to sell my old soundbar to fund an upgrade - SK10Y if okay.
Thanks!
Check out the Samsung HW-N950 sir or the Polk Audio Magnifi Max SR
Almost the same price as the LG SJ9 but these 2 are better ;)
Hindi po medyo malaki difference sa price ng lg sj9 agaibst the samsung hw-950?
How will you compare din po ba un jbl bar 5.1 soundbar? Planning to upgrade kasi coming from jbl sb 400.
Makaki ba ang difference ng 5.1 soundbar vs dolby atmos na soundbar?
What is exactly their difference?
Noticable ba sya kahit na sa soundbar lang?
I know kasi pag sa mga wired na set up as in physically mas marami speakers ang dolby atmos than 5.1...
What kind of soundbar po yun na audition nyu at kita ung difference ng dolbybatmos?
LG SJ9 and Sony HT-ST5000 ... maririnig mo pati yung sound sa taas, not only rear surround ... yung LG SJ9 baka di na available, may pumalit na na bagong model
Got Polk's Magnify Max SR - honestly I felt the reviews are all hype.
My fault for not auditioning it.
The surrounds do not have batteries so you need to plug it to a power source.
My impression of wireless surrounds was you can charge it and use it with no wires like all wireless speakers.
Disappointed.

Actually yes and no.
Was thinking of getting the Polk's Magnify for a long time and have abandoned the idea until I heard a JBL soundbar and sub in one of the shop I went to. This made me pursue the idea again and get the Polk Magnify since I assume it was better than the JBL soundbar I heard.
Medyo manipis tumunog, one reason might be the area where I placed it. I would say the area is a little big for a soundbar.
Also you need to change the base and voice settings every time you use it for music or movies to get the most of it as the difference is quite big if you don't adjust the settings.
Gets ko na sir. You mean compared to the JBL soundbar that you auditioned, the JBL sounded better.
what??!!! nasa tenga parin talaga nuh? ilang beses ko na narinig tong max sr kahit sa hifi show standout parin for me compare sa ibang soundbars
^parang baliktad.
Polk signa s2
Thanks for recommendation. Will definitely consider this.
What about the Magnifi Mini? Is this a huge step up from the Signa S2 or JBL Bar 2.1?
Gusto mo try ang Magnify SR dito sa house?
Guys looking for at least a true 5.1 soundbar yun talagang may rear speaker...
So far nababasa ko ang mga ganyan soundbar ay jbl bar 5.1 and pol audio magnifi max..
Which among these is a good choice? Or aside from these two are there some more suggestions? My budget is just until 50k.
Will mostly used for movies..
Samsung HW- N950 (https://www.samsung.com/ph/audio-video/hw-n950//?cid=PH_20190117_VD_TV_VDMULTI_AO_I_SEM_GS_KWB_02_TXT_NA_NA_OTH-ALL-NA-NA-CROSS-GEN_NA_NA_NA_NA_NA_samsung-sound-bar&gclid=Cj0KCQiAtvPjBRDPARIsAJfZz0rOtMCqh8CZJp_OoAjcGzgLlBX6fmGC4fMUwPiUOWUBrosZJbSRXDcaAncTEALw_wcB)
SRP is around 70K but if you will pay in cash, the discounted price is I think 51.5K
With your budget, I highly recommend this...
It has Dolby Atmos and dts:X support.
It has 2 wireless rear speakers for a total of 7.1.4 set up
Malaki ba difference in terms of overall quality of sound from jbl bar 5.1?

Unless space is an issue, parang ang P70k na soundbar cost the same as a P70k rceiver with entry level speakers w/ Atmos and sub?
I agree... no faux surround and heights can match the sound immersion of a set up with physical surrounds and heights speakers can do
it's a good thing though, that they have the 'soundbar' option for those with tight space constraint =)) AV rack palang makain na talaga sa space =) and the wires clutter is a headache for some =)

Agree as well on this. Iba pa din ang full HT system in sound delivery. In hindsight the soundbar technology is still in its infancy. 5 years ago they were just niche products but now almost all big consumer manufacturers have their own Soundbars with different price points at that. Not all people who buy Soundbars are space challenged. Many consumers are simply not in the market for a full blown HT system, Many consumers are satisfied with higher quality sound when they watch TV’s or movies with very little effort in setting up the components to work together. Those consumers are the main target market of Soundbars.
Most if not all flat panel TVs do not come with room filling sound. That void created a whole new product need and manufacturers are very happy to supply that need. I’m sure Sony or LG can engineer their TV’s to incorporate soundbar level quality of sound but it would be a risk for them to do so since that will increase cost which will be passed on to the consumer.
If the source that you are watching is just stereo sound (not 5.1 dolby digital), will the soundbar with rear speaker like jbl bar 5.1 and polk magnifi max sr will still have sound at the rear speaker?
Or the soundbar will just become 2.1 audio channel only?
With my Polk Max SR, may algorithm (I think its pro-logic ata) siya that produces the surround output in 2 channel movie watching. It's very descent na unlike the pro-logic of the yesteryear.
So you mean to say po i will just connect my two video source direct to the tv and the soundbar connect to the tv also via hdmic arc?
I also read that hdmi connection for soundbar is better than optical, is that correct?
nakabili friend ko sa SG polk magnifi max SR 700 SGD lang.
Order basis siya dito sir

I think around 45k, then pede pa daw ma less ng konti if ang payment mo ay cash.
Looking for a soundbar for my mom's room, which is about 9 to 10 sq m. She has a 55" TV.
Budget is 12k.
Requirements:
• subwoofer (a ported 4.5 to 6.5 inch sub would be great)
• DTS support
• optical and 3.5mm ports
• Bluetooth 4.0 and up
Preferred, but not required:
• HDMI arc
• faux surround
• USB port for audio (.mp3, .aac, .wav support)
• 4k passthru
• LCD display that can show the time
Any leads/suggestions would be appreciated! ;D
LG SK5 sir. Around 8400 yata meron sa carousell. Thanks, will check it out!

Any review sa mga naka rinig na ng polk magnifi mini? Is this better than signa s2 or jbl bar 2.1? It’s now priced at 19k+ cash na lang.
How is it with music via bluetooth?
Considering getting this for a bedroom setup.
maganda magnifi mini. the bass lang sometimes overpowering... pero yun “feels surround” parang hindi ko ma feel as compared to bose.
My Polk Magnify Mini finally gave up so got a Magnify Max to replaced the missing piece in our living room. For a week of listening it seems that the Mini's sounded better while the Max sounded thin except for being more powerful & a bigger Sub (bigger bass filling too). Not content, I had the Max transferred to our bedroom & decided to get Samsung's HW-Q900A Atmos/DTS:X soundbar, never expected this would sound great, room filing & it really has some Atmos effect as long as you have reflective ceilings. A happy camper for now with an Atmos / DTS:X soundbar
any recommendation for a basic soundbar to use in a 10-12sqm room to augment basic tv speakers? tv has digital out only, remote control for volume would be nice

can Samsung HW-Q900A replace the traditional 5.1 system? can it replicate the sound from the rear speakers? I'm planning to get rid of the avr, tower speakers, sub, surrounds and esp the wires for a simpler and cleaner look in our living room approx 22 sqm.
Actually no but it is better than the ordinary soundbars out there coz of its ATMOS/DTS:X features. For me its ok you could hear rear & upward effects if you have reflective walls (there are options for a rear wireless surrounds) but a soundbar will never be as immersive as with 5.1 or 7.1 speaker set-ups. Soundbars are just the way to go if we dont want the hassles with AVRs & wires running all over the place.
oh ok, will try to audition it. thanks for the reply, bro!
Try Samsung Q950A, wireless SW and surr, with a lot of features such as atmos, dts x, eARC, BT, Alexa, etc.
how much estimated prices ng Q950A and Q900A? also, I noticed that the locally available models are Q950T and Q900T, not sure if these are just region coding or feature differences

match din kaya yang HW-Q900A/Q950A sa sony android tv? X800E series
get a Sony lang Sir Rod para sure. They have ATMOS soundbars naman but I think there 7.2.1 is still at a high price compared to the Samsungs.

This soundbar is going to the province and may end up being used for videoke as well (is it better to get separate speakers for this?).Main disadvantage of using this as a karaoke speaker, there maybe a slight delay if you use optical/hdmi input. With the mic volume turned up and some shouting, you can easily clip these type of speakers.

good morning.
just wanna as if may naka gamit na ng JBL Bar 5.1 here and feedback?
I'm planning to "upgrade" coming from Polk Magnifi Mini.
Thanks.
good morning. Not a Bar 5.1 but Bar 3.1. Nakapag demo ako ng 5.1 and I am very impressed. Kaya nya DTS and DD ang 3.1 DD lang eh. Sa 3.1 pa lang very happy na ako lalo na yan 5.1. I can say the 3.1 is better than Magnify Mini so getting the 5.1 is a huge leap from the Mini. My 3.1 is 3 year and counting.

I recently got an LG SP8YA atmos, was on sale at Abensons @ P18k, its not that bad. but it cant go head to head w/ the Samsung Q900a which is more powerful especially with the ATMOS feel.
How much was the original price of the LG SP8YA and Samsung Q900a? are they head to head in price?
Good day..

I'm not sure if this has been asked before, but what is the usual power consumption or a mid range to high end soundbar (pref with surround speakers)? And how does it compare to the consumption of a regular 5.0 (no sub) setup? Thanks in advance.
For me, active stereo speakers are a much better option than soundbars, atmos capable or not.Ito rin pinagaaralan ko recently kasi di ako natutuwa sa tv speakers kahit anong setting iset ko. Feeling ko rin na sobra naman kung gamitin ko pa receiver+speakers kung variety show at sports lang naman papanoorin.

the separation of and soundstage of stereo speakers is palpably missing.
Anyone here tried the BOSE soundbar system?

The Samsung HW-Q800C can be bought for just under 20k these days (fb marketplace price). This is much cheaper than the $699 price now in the US. Reviews are generally good to excellent:

Description below care of AVForums:
"The Samsung HW-Q800C is a classic two-piece soundbar comprising a main multichannel speaker designed to sit under your TV, and a meaty-looking external bass speaker that connects wirelessly with the main soundbar.
The Q800C carries 11 speakers delivering a 5.1.2 channel count, where the ‘5’ bit refers to front centre, front left, front right, side left and side right channels, the ‘.1’ bit refers to the bass channel fed into the subwoofer, and the '.2' bit refers to two upfiring drivers designed to deliver Dolby Atmos height channel effects by reflecting them off your ceiling.
These channels have a total of 360W of power to play with, and it is possible to turn the Q800C into a surround sound system by adding an optional pair of SWA-9500S rear speakers."

Got to try out a Samsung Q800B (the one quoted above is the newer 2023 model: Q800C) at a friends house during the recent holidays and I am definitely impressed. We tested Inception on it (45GB 4k rip); the LFE was very good and the sound stage was much much better than I expected; you actually forget that you are using a soundbar since the audio truly envelops you. Dialogue is also nice and clear, it is quite discernible even with all the noise of a typical Chris Nolan movie (dialogue is a common complaint in his films). The Atmos effect is really clear (there are upfiring speakers) and there was also no distortion even with the volume nearly maxed out (this thing can get loud, btw).
Those with budgets in the ₱20k range who are looking for a decent sound setup for movies/streaming/games will definitely want to test this out. It will sound great in a medium to large bedroom or even in the living room of a condo unit / flat. My friend says playing Halo in it was fantastic as the audio matches where the shooting happens. He doesn't have the optional rear speakers but he says he's planning to get those come Black Friday / Cyber Monday.
We played some music on it too, btw, (Sting's Fields of Gold in ALAC) and it sounded quite nice. It won't be beating a dedicated stereo set up (which the discerning PDVD regular probably already has) but the clarity will be satisfying enough to listen in bed to.
Looking at what's available in Manila right now both online and at the appliance stores, I don't thing there is an HT option which sounds better at 20k.
me 9.1 na pala na soundbar?
grabe ang presyo ng mga soundbars. Hindi na logical e. US SRP yan ah. Pag dating dito mas mahal pa lalo.
For example, ang SRP ng JBL 5.1 na yan is $300 (16k). Free shipping pa yan sa amazon. Hindi yan on sale.
Dito 43k? Naka sale ng 25k?
It's really not worth 16k even.
yang Amazon price na yan excluding pa ang Tax since it's over 10K
Inherent kasi sa design ng soundbar eh yung magkakatabi yung drivers ng front 3 channels so there is really no sense of stereo separation.
yang Amazon price na yan excluding pa ang Tax since it's over 10K
Pero dapat the local JBL distributors / importers have relatively the same price. Maybe just slightly higher. .
Just want to share. Some months back, I was scouting for a soundbar and was able to purchase a Samsung 9.1.4 HW-Q930B for only 28,900. While it is a 2022 model, yet compared to the 2023 model HW-Q930C its price was 54,000 at that time. Hence I am quite happy with my purchase. As to its, performance I have nothing bad to say. Although as per my research, some say that playing music is not that "great." But that is subjective. Hindi naman ako maselan. And with the price I got, I am very happy with my purchase. That's a fantastic find! I would have to say that this is the best soundbar deal I've heard yet.
At present, I have a separate speaker [Samsung T50] for my karaoke sessions while the Samsung soundbar plays the Youtube karaoke which I could easily search through my Mi Box S and TV....
I have bad experience with Samsung - HW-Q990B 11.1.4ch. After 9 months, the soundbar automatically adjust volume to 100%, there was a problem with Internal on top controls. Good thing its still under warranty and since Samsung was unable to fix due to parts availability, they refunded me thru BestBuy credit of same amount i purchased it 9 month ago.
I went to bestbuy and replaced it with Nakamichi - Shockwafe 7.1.4Ch 850W Soundbar System with 10” Wireless Subwoofer, Dolby Atmos, eARC and SSE MAX. As soon as i received the unit, tested it overnight and returned it back the next day. Sound quality is so BADDDD. Day and night vs Samsung.
Bestbuy credited me back and after a few days of research, i ended buying Polk Audio Magnifi Max AX SR 7.1.2. Was so happy with this one, better than the Samsung IMHO Sound quality wise, the Samsung has more features though. But im more to sound quality than features
I also have the VIZIO - 5.1.2-Channel M-Series Premium Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer, Dolby Atmos at my other TV which is performing really well Soundwise
Not sure if these two are available dyan sa pinas but if it is, its something worth to audition
meron siguro max sa polk home theatre store sa sm north annex, upper ground, meron kasi dun polk manify mini.. but i opted a small soundbar.. denon dht s217, it is only 2.1, the good thing is i can patch my 8” sub, wired so i pulled it out from the marketplace.. ayaw din naman sa bahay ng masyado malakas.. but definitely a theatre sound like naman..
yung new version ng polk magnify meron ng dolby atmos..
I was even thinking of a Nakamichi Shockwafe system before, good thing wala nagbebenta dito. my Samsung Q900a really sounds powerful, it's still working presently.
Yung, Polk Magnify ko is the new version and may Atmos na sya. Im really impressed sa performance ng Polk compared sa former Samsung Q990B ko specially sa sub performance. Panalo din ang Atmos performance nya
$800 kuha mo bro? or nakuha mo ng sale na $560?

From the YouTube description:
I auditioned the Nakamichi Dragon soundbar surround system at CES 2023 and was not prepared for what I experienced. You aren’t going to believe this thing. Find out why this is the Best Dolby Atmos surround soundbar I’ve ever heard, no exaggeration.
