CONVERGENCE.
Well it looks like the super-duper-amazing-caravan-anniversary sales are finally coming together in one place: Astro V-Mall. From July 28 to August 3, Magnavision, Viva, and Warner will be holding a 1 WEEK bash that'll force you into credit card debt.
This is getting unhealthy. Seriously. ;D

God! Why don't they just freaking lower their prices permanently if they can hold sales practically every weekend?

I agree 100%, lower the prizes of R3 dvds permanently so we can kiss pirate dvds goodbye.
But please please add more titles to your inventories. How come R1 has so many titles available?

Yup and what used to be Virramall is a lot nicer now and has a pretty big Astro store. Isip-isip saan ako pupunta sa Podium or Vmall ;) this sale is another great news, at least DVDs are getting a little bit affordable ;D

went here last week.. plenty tv boxsets were on sale...
sayang.. sana region free... eyeing on the sheild seasons 3-5

yung house din.. ganun ..
if they make it region free.. amazon will lose a big chunk of my tv series purchase..

Actually, House md Season 1 is Region 0 (All regions). Shield, Psych, Heroes, etc are all Magnavision, so there's a chance that they are All region as well. Many are lacking one disc in comparison to R1 (ie Psych S1 is 3 disc vis-a-vis R1 4-discs), but the content are all intact.

not as of this moment e...im using the sammy bd up5000 hd/bd/dvd combo player...strictly r1....

naisip ko nga na r0 yun e..but i asked the salesperson...r3 daw ::).... pero yung ultimate superman collection kasi nagulat ako when i was able to play it sa r1 player ko... and natuwa ako... but thats a warner release e..
now,kung may chance na r0 yung shield...bili na ako for sure...i have the house s1 and s2 here..havent tried opening it pa..masubukan nga...

You know, as techdude mentioned, although it says "Region 3" on the boxes, ALL my locally-pressed Magnavision TV series boxed sets are Region Free.

Hey, I was referring to all the local Magnavision TV boxed sets that I personally purchased. I never bought the local release of The Shield, so I'm not really sure for that specific title... but it seems highly likely based on general Magna patterns.

I'm guessing the name of the sale is a constructive play of words on the "Triple Threat" moniker that usually refers to a football player adept at running, kicking and passing as opposed to most players who only excel in one skill and are merely okay in the others. This is that "special sale" much like that special player, since it has all three major DVD distributors, as opposed to most other recent sales that only had participation from one distributor at a time.
Dapat Quintuple Threat sale na lang... C-Interactive should go for PHP 30 per disc, while Paragon about... PHP 14.75. ;D
Sige na nga, the newer C-Interactive titles can go as high as PHP 125...

Went to the sale around lunch time. Everything I got are Warners:
Mutiny On The Bounty - Php 125
Dead Calm - Php 125
The Accidental Tourist - Php 125
High Society - Php 125
Beowulf (2-Disc Director's Cut Edition) - Php 425
The Blue Planet BBC documentary series, which is a new release, is down to Php 999 from Php 1500. There were also lots of slipcased Across The Universe (2-Disc Special Edition) at Php 375 or Php 275 (sorry I forgot). There's also a new boxed set, The Mummy Legends (didn't look at the disc contents) which is priced at Php 550.
They ran out of stocks of the slipcased 27 Dresses and all versions of Jumper. There are fewer Viva titles in this sale than in past sales. If you want more choices, you can go to Astro SM Makati, which has an on-going (dunno until when) Viva Blowout Sale (though still no slipcased 27 Dresses or lenticular Jumper there, just the regular covers).
There is also a less variety of titles available from the Warner side.

Just to clarify: this week-long event is really just a continuation of the three distributor-initiated sales that have been doing the rounds lately. The only difference is that they're all under the same roof. Warner seems particularly strict in limiting the Php125/Php199 price points to one location at a time.
An insider said that if successful, there was talk of bringing this sale configuration to Metro Walk and/or St. Francis Square if the respective mall operators agree.

finally got my Hitman for P199 however... was kinda disappointed to find out it only has 1 (english) out of the 13 subtitles working! ??? ??? ::)
does anyone know if this title only came out (locally) in 1 version or is there a 2-disc version out there? :)

I'm not aware of any re-issues of the slipcased 2-Disc Extended Combat Edition. I got mine also at Php 275 during the Viva Blowout Sale at Astro The Block a couple of months ago. In fact, I haven't opened it yet from its shrink wrap. But I can clearly see a booklet from the side.

What comic book? Did you mean a journal? It's the 2-disc Director's Cut. The one without is the Theatrical Cut.

there's a mini-comic book sandwiched between the journal and the DVD case, sir. much like the mini one inside the AVP2 slipcase.

i saw appleseed 2 disc LE being priced at 350 at v-mall and astro podium...did'nt get it coz i saw the post that it was only tagged at 275...
could this be another error on the pricing??
