Whoa, Kite Runner already included in the sale, so it's like I paid 50% more for a two week viewing window...
Still, the titles posted look tempting with some titles that are not released before locally... Charlie Wilson War, Monk, Bionic Woman, I don't think I seen those before locally, they are going straight to sale?

Wow ha! Margot At The Wedding and Charlie Wilson's War weren't even shown here and haven't yet been released in DVD. I do hope they go on sale agad.
Other than those two, I hope to get The Bourne Ultimatum (2-Disc, Imported), The Kite Runner, The Taxi Driver (2-Disc) (sana meron nga!) and Into The Wild.

Yup yung Astrovision nasa lapit ng Mcdo sa may lapit movie house, pero I think yung sale will be done dun sa baba just like what they did with the Warner Anniversary Sale.

Yes I believe it will be an OFF-SITE sale just like the Viva Sale in Robinson's Galle where they had it at the basement near the food court.

If it's off site, then there's little chance this sale will extend to Monday. So those planning to do so on Monday should reconsider...
Update: Ooops, my mistake. Four day sale pala ito...not three days as in most sale, so Monday meron pa. unless inubos namin ang mga good titles. :)

Only one Astro in Trinoma. The one that you mentioned. There are 3 DVD stores there in all: Astro, Odyssey (second floor in the MRT connection wing) and The Landmark Record Bar.

* If you're only looking for a Php 750 The Blue Planet boxset, then you're gonna waste your time if you go here. It's Php 999 in this sale.
* Jaws (2-Disc 30th Anniversary Edition, Digipak) is Php 299 in this sale.
A nice sale overall. Just a bit disappointed because of the noticeable absence of imported variants of many titles. It seems each Magna sale gets more and more saturated with budget or local variants. It's almost confusing for picky collectors like me if an imported version exists for their titles (especially for Universal Studios titles). But for those who are not to picky, this is a great sale to go to. It has lots of titles and stocks.

Lots of boxsets. But I did not go through all of them. What I can remember are 2 seasons of Monk, Sex and the City's at Php 750, some seasons of The Shield, BBC documentaries like Egypt at Php 300, Planet Earth at Php 750 and Bible Mysteries, Mr. Bean boxset at Php 600, The 3 Stooges boxset at Php 999 (maybe this isn't the sale price yet), Spider-Man trillogy set (didn't see the price).

No, I was referring to The Blue Planet. Planet Earth has a sticker that says Php 750. The Blue Planet still says Php 1500 so I asked them if it's the sale price, and they told me it was Php 999.

Too bad I wasn't able to get a free umbrella (actually didn't know that they had such a promo) --- hindi umabot sa P1,500. Tapos, I bought the first two DVD first, then later went back to buy the other three. However, I was given 4 packs of M&M Dark Chocolate --- puwede na rin kasi 'yun ang favorite kong M&M variant.

YES this is the latest 2Disc Collector's Edition Sony Release (released last Aug 14/07 ). Upon browsing, this exactly mirrors the latest R1 release. However, the cover used is the old Columbia CE Release ( back in 1999 pa! ) so it's kinda misleading.

There are 4 dvd releases of Taxi Driver : The R2 Single Disc CE Columbia Tristar, the R1/R3/R4 Columbia Tri Star CE, the R1 Sony Release 2 Disc CE and the R2 Columbia Tri Star Japanese Superbit Release ( which I own )
Among the 4 releases, it's the R1 Sony 2 Disc and Japanese Superbit that excel in terms of PQ and SQ ( although the Superbit is the only one blessed with a dts track ). See this review from dvdbeaver.com :

I tried comparing the two earlier and it seems like the Jap Superbit has a slight PQ edge in terms of brightness. But not something to bowl over.
However, the 2 disc is the winner hands down in the EXTRAS department. More than 3 hours! And this is the reason for my double dip ;D. I can't wait to watch the film again and indulge myself with the extras.

I saw Bee-Movie (although not in the yellow DVD case) selling for P275. So I guess this one's locally made. However, just like the recent local DVDs of Magnavision, I think this one is also DVD9.

I just checked my watch & no, it is not working either. I guess batteries are not included & we have to buy our own. Anyway, I don't really plan to use the watch. I'll just keep it together with my Kung-Fu Hustle DVD.

Kite Runner, Into The Wild, and No Country For Old Men are locally pressed DVD9s. Wala akong nakita na true imported.
Regarding No Country For Old Men, somebody reported here that imported stocks were coming to the sale so I thought there must be another variant other than the one that's abundant in the sale.

It's just that prices are so low that customers who are not aware of the new price points are doubting if they're the real thing.

I was at the sale last saturday and bought only a few, may mga gusto pa sana ako bilhin kaso i was pissed-off by a woman in a green stripe blouse that day who act like a supervisor... i noticed her looking suspicious at people in the sale, i can't blame her, there so many people out there and you can't be sure if there are some who will shoplift some dvds and cds, but i noticed that girl starring suspicious at me everywhere i go, i only have 2 cds at hand (Survivors Greatest Hits and Timeless classic i think ata yung isa, volume 3). Then i roam around to look for some dvd titles i could buy, and then that woman starring very suspicious at me asked me to hand her over those 2 cds at my hand, itatabi lang daw muna nya, so i gave it to her and she placed the cds near the cd section and katabi na nung mga binebenta nila...so di ko na lang muna pinansin and i continued looking for dvds, pero i noticed some of the buyers na ang daming hawak at halo-halo pa yung cds at dvds pero di naman nila kinukuha, medyo unfair yata yun ha,hmmm parang may duda ata sa akin yung babaeng yun... ayun, medyo inis na din ako, and after i got the Frankenstein (M. Shelly's), i decided to pay na lang for the 2 cds and 1 dvd, medyo inis na kasi ako nun e... Then, when i asked for the 2 cds na kinuha nung babae, kinuha nila and to my surprise, iba na ang kasama nung survivors, nawala yung timeless volume 3 (Rock and Roll), Peter Cetera na ang kasama so i told the lady that that's not my cds, ok yung survivors but not the peter cetera... At alam nyo ba... yun daw ang ibinigay ko sa kanya (sabay masamang tingin), so nainis na talaga ako and told her na "kanina ko pa hawak yan at alam ko kung ano ang pinili ko, bakit mas marunong pa kayo sa akin?" and then a girl in red uniform told me na wala daw silang stock nung volume 3, so i told her na may nakuha nga ako dyan e, papano kyo mawawalan ng stock? and i told the lady in green stripe, "Nananahimik kasi sa kamay ko yung mga cds e, kinuha-kuha nyo pa, e ang dami nga dyan halo-halo na yung mga hawak sa kamay di nyo pinapansin?"... ayun, umalis na lang ako after ko bayaran...
eto lang masasabi ko...
"Ok lang sumunod kyo sa procedures ninyo pero BE FAIR naman, walang problema dun, susunod naman kami..."

With a Legal locally pressed DVD9, the content is assured. A locally pressed 'Jack' is hit-or-miss, it might contain a faulty subtitle track or screener video track, and quality of DVD is suspect. What's printed on the package and what's in the Disc also often doesn't match. Not to mention, that a legal DVD also supports the government and legal business enterprises while 'Jack' supports shady individuals... Sorry, way off topic na tayo...
A locally pressed (legal) DVD9 and imported DVD9 is a harder to call... So far, I haven't encountered any problems with Magnavision DVD9, so the fact that most of us collectors prefer imported because of it's supposed better quality, might be misinpresentation...
Also angry that Charlie Wilson's War and No Country got discounted so soon...

My suking Magna salesperson was sweet talking me into buying the slipcased Spiderwick Chronicles, priced at Php 375. I told her that they should discount 200 bucks from it, as compensation for the 100 bucks I got "overcharged" for both No Country For Old Men and Charlie Wilson's War last Friday. Didn't buy it. Next sale na lang.

Anyway, ako naman nung first day ganun din. Since maaga ako dun, may mga binitbit na akong mga boxsets habang nag-aayos pa lang sila. E alam mo naman tayong mga pdvd members parang laging mauubusan eh. There was this girl din na ang sama ng tingin sa akin. Tama ka, wherever I go, tumitingin din. Dagger looks talaga. But when she saw me talking to Lotis and Jimmy Lim, medyo natauhan yata.
So ganyan talaga Reynold, mahirap talaga maging pogi ( tiisin na natin bro... ) ::)

Still Region 3 but minted/mastered abroad. The dvd region code is usually found at the back cover.
