Warner Home Video has announced 1-disc ($28.98), 2-disc ($34.99) and Blu-ray ($35.99) releases of The Dark Knight for the 9th December. As far as we know, no extra material will be included on the 1-disc release. The DVD and Blu-ray releases will include 6 action-packed IMAX Scenes (Prologue, Hong Kong, Armoured Car Chase, Lamborghini Crash, Prewitt Building, Final Montage) a Gotham Uncovered documentary, featurettes (Batman Tech: The Incredible Gadgets and Tools, Batman Unmasked: The Psychology of The Dark Knight), 6 episodes of Gotham Cable's Premier News Program, galleries (The Joker Cards, Concept Art, Poster Art, Production Stills), trailers and TV spots. A limited edition set with Batpod will also be available. We've attached the official package artwork for each release below:

yes it's still playing in theaters all over the world, BUT according to joblo.com, the buzz on the street is that december 9 is the day the dark knight comes to blue ray and dvd. although i cannot locate the original thread, joblo has updated the news with this piece of drool inducing news:

Details are a little sketchy on what the DARK KNIGHT DVDs are going to include but seeing as how it's poised to become a) the second biggest movie of all-time and b) the biggest movie released in the DVD era, we knew you'd expect a lot of different versions to be available. While we still don't have a lot of the specs on what these DVDs will contain, we are starting to get some word on what kinds of versions will be available. A scooper named "Dave" sent in some images that we've been able to confirm as legit. They would confirm a 2-disc DVD, a Blu-ray, a steelbook 2-disc DVD special edition, a Batpod collector's DVD and a Batman mask collector's DVD (basically the 2-disc DVD shrink-wrapped with a Batman mask).

In trying to track down more info on these DVDs, I've heard two conflicting release dates - December 2nd and December 9th. Either way THE DARK KNIGHT is poised for some huge sales this holiday season. I've already got my eyes on that steelbook...

If anyone has any further details on these DVDs, please feel free to drop a line. The Batpod image is watermarked with a Czech website but I can't seem to find anything TDK on their site.

Looks like Blu is a steel?  :o  Collectors will be very busy in December double-triple dipping in TDK, with diff covers of Bats, Joker, and Two-Face, lenticular cover (like the poster), giftsets, steelbook... endless possibilities for our limited Christmas Bonus  ;D

The Batpod set I think is a German release, saw it at SideshowCollectors.com. Have my eye on the steelbook and the Batpod set. If released locally, these sets will sell out for sure. ;D

Yup.  It could possibly reach at least 1k for the steelbook and 1k+ for the batpod.  Reminds me I saw the DVD of Fool's Gold.  Looks like a P425 title to me instead of the P550 price tag.

what im curious at now is will the local r3 street date release of 12/9 mirror that of the r1 editions?  or do we wait two to three weeks to get our bat fix?

It's a Warner title, so historically it'll be most probably be a SAME-DAY release or actually even 1-2 weeks before US street date. Batman Begins R1 and R3 were both released on October 18, 2005.

Not really impressed with the Batpod Giftset, especially with its disc case. But maybe it will look nice with the UK BD Steel  ;D

If we go by recent local gift set prices, malamang aabutin ng P2,500 yung Batpod edition.

I'll just get the steelbook, if ever  ;D and one Blu-Ray copy for the IMAX-ified scenes.

So my guess: Steelbook P1,500 plus Blu-Ray P1,500++ equals another hole in my wallet come Christmas.

early reports say that this one continues the string of disappointing warner dvd transfers.  www.dvdmg.com has given it a c rating picture wise!

in dvd, not so good in terms of video quality, but audio quality is superb.

in the 2nd disc, they have the scenes that were shot in imax and indeed the aspect ratio changed.

sa 1st disc, di ko nanotice na may pagbabago.

i haven't tried yet though my digital copy though.

cguro nga maganda ang video quality nito sa blu-ray. wala pa ksi ako pkayer nun kya dvd (2-disc edition ang nabili ko)

^same question sir xage.. i saw the R3 batpod and i am not quite happy with the paint job and the seemingly flimsy box.  :-\    I wonder if the BD batpod is basically the same... ???  I am thinking of canceling my preorder after seeing the R3 DVD batpod..  :(

Also, ano po yung cover art sa likod nung TWEC exclusive steelbook?  I saw the futureshop DK BD steel and I think it has joker on the back cover (if I am not mistaken)...  ganun din po ba yung likod ng TWEC DVD steelbook?  TIA.

This thing is so freakin' HOT in the U.S. My sister had to go from Burbank, to the Valley, takbo sa Northridge and last sa Porter Ranch, lahat ng BestBuy sa Dark Knight daig pa sa Hot cake. Last minute lang sinabi na meron palang Midnight sale bale Monday 12midniight hanggang 4am at pag nandoon ka meron kang free Poster at Joker's Deck of playing cards, too bad I missed this one.  :'( 

In short, my sister was able to grab a few copies of BB exclusive with Joker clown mask.  8)

Sir, Mam.. I have not seen the DVD Batpod set yet. But if you ask me about the Badpod Bluray set it looks good.

Ang bait ng sister mo, did she really went during the Midnight opening? Kasi word of mouth at Bestbuys went crazy and jampacked with people.

I went out and took the risk the day after 9am Yes!...

One thing I noticed... The Blu ray Giftsets at Bestbuys are all SOLD OUT (and it goes the same in their online store) . I just got really really lucky getting the two Blu ray gifts. Were the giftset your sister got are DVD? or Bluray? I can tell you if your ask your sis, the Bluray giftset are ALL SOLD OUT!




Nope, my sister missed that BB sale, kaya pala talaga naubos. She didn't mentioned where she got it but she had to beg for it, she got one each Blu with Batpod and Mask (reserved to someone who did not showed up on time) and two SD with Clown mask, and yes you are right... Blu's are ALL SOLD OUT!  :o 

Actually wala choice sister ko, my nephew wants it badly as well so they both ended up touring the valley, nakisali lang ako.  ;D

Oh man!!! My mom was able to go to a BB store where there were still Blu giftsets available. Unfortunatley she did not buy it since she said that it was too pricey. I think it was over $50. Ow well...

in that case i won't be canceling my order.. it's too late na rin pala.  my order is already partially filled. can't cancel anymore.   :D

so now i've made up my mind.. i'll be getting the TWEC steel (for the DVD) and settle for the batpod instead of the futureshop steel (for the BD). ;D

Sa FYE ata yan. :) xage can correct me if I'm wrong of course, usually ang FYE kasi ang may magagandang exclusive steelbooks for the US market other than Best Buy.

Yup its from FYE!

However TWEC has a lot of stores so not only you can get in from FYE but also from Suncoast, Sam Goodies, Coconuts, Saturday Matinee, Wherehouse and Secondspin

You can try looking at the pinoydvd marketplace section.  Reputable sellers like sir PARC and sir emildjr might still have some available copies.

You can also try looking at Cardinal Audio in Virramall or Infomaxx in Theater Mall (both in Greenhills), although, i find the prices there a bit too steep.    :-\

Marami nman nag bbenta sa marketplace ng murang bd player ah?! Anyway, try mo rin mag bd-rom/BD-RW, nasa 6k na lang ata ang bd drive ;)
