thanks to all the compliments!!  :)

Wow sir ang ganda! COngrats on the setup. Are those motorized lcd stands locally sourced?

sir, i'm not sure if they're available locally?  the motor i used is called an actuator which i bought in the US.

Bro -- Nice setup! where'd you got your ana lens bro? I notice your screen is not curved.

i got my budget lens from http://www.hometheaterbrothers.com/

you only need a curved screen if your throw ratio is on the low side.  i have a high 2.x throw ratio and was advised that if i did a curved screen, i would get the opposite of pin cushion which is barrel distortion.  the video i get is really amazing! of course, to my non-videophile eyes..  :D

ala e wala namang ganyanan... kung nahiya ka pa dyan e papano na ang sa akin? kaganda ng setup eh!  :o

lahat naman sir maganda dahil pinaghirapan. :)

Very nice set-up! Great choices of gear, especially the Denon 2808!  ;D

Have you looked at the acoustic panels of Toslink? I think they would do wonders for your room.

But what I like best is the ship.  ;D ;D

the top of the screen pushes it up when it opens.  it leans or sits at an angle on the back of the screen just enough that it doesn't fall back.  when the screen comes down, the top goes with the screen until it sits flat again.  :)

i think the denon's 110w sounds just as good as the rotel's 200w.. :)

The Denon AVR is excellent. I myself have pretty good power amps -- Aragon and Bryston. But it's probably impossible to tell the difference between their sound and my Denon 3808. I also tried a Lexicon power amp vs. a Denon 2808 and again, you really couldn't tell the difference. Maybe, one day, I will organize a blind test on power amps. Seriously.  :) :)

i'm sure acoustics will do wonders.. but being that it's a family room, it's kind of hard especially with a 4 yr old that's bouncing around the walls all the time and likes to get his hands into everything.. ;D

If you're really serious, you could mount it on the junction of ceiling and wall. Your kids won't be able to reach them.  ;D ;D

Anyhow, I really love your model ship. I used to collect and build those too. But that was almost 40 years ago.  ;D ;D

Thanks.

hi lancito, yes the port bungs are used to stop bass boom.  putting it against the wall or enclosed in a cabinet affects the ideal sound reproduction.  replied to your pm as well.  :)

version 2 - around 2011

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

version 3 - start build 2015

for the speakers, i sold all my monitor audio speakers and decided to go the diy route.

diysoundgroup fusion 12 tempest - front
diysoundgroup fusion 8 alchemy - center

i sold my epik subs and decided to go diy as well. dual subs are 2x dayton audio rss390hf-4 15"
in a 4cuft diy sealed box each.

8x diysoundgroup volt 6 for surround and atmos speakers.

denon x4100 (this one is up for sale... someone buy it so i could upgrade :-))
rotel rmb-1075
rotel rb-1080
3x crown xls-1002 - (4 channels to complete a 7.2.4 future pre/pro upgrade.  extra 2 channel is for videoke)
crown xls-1502 to power the dual diy subwoofer.

sony vplhw45es - hd projector'

screen - my current 65" lg hd led behind a projector screen.  a 150" elite screen manual pull down
will be cut to make a 128" (16:9)fixed frame with a diy masking system for a 120" (2.35:1) cinemascope.
so it depends which screen i want to use, the fixed pj screen will be travelling up and down and the
masking system to make the screen 16:9 or 2.35.  it will all be controlled by a remote.

sketches for the new ht... front screen, seating, and columns.

mdf flat packs are also sold with these kits but i didn't buy them.  i figured that these volt speakers are small enough that my carpenter will have no problem making them.  i had the boxes made out of marine plywood.  partially shown under the boxes is the stage.

you're right sir, these little speakers can go loud and the sound is super clear.  i had it setup in stereo while bench testing and it produced more bass than i was expecting for its size.  my room is small and these speakers are more than enough for surround and atmos duty.

galing nyo sir! paano nyo ginawa mechanism for the masking system?

sir comet, in the pic below you'll see where i marked a slider with a circle... i have 4 of these sliders situated on the sides of the screen.  2 on top and 2 on the bottom and they slide freely on the surface of the wall.  the 2 sliders on top are connected by a 1x3 piece of wood horizontally across the screen, the bottom sliders are also connected with each other the same way.  on the sides of the screen, the top and bottom sliders are connected by a wire rope with a pulley right above the top sliders so when the bottom sliders move up, the top sliders will move down and vice versa.  this directs the movements of the 2 pieces of 1x3 wood across the screen...the bottom sliders move up and the screen becomes 2.35, and when the bottom sliders move down it shows the whole screen which is 16:9.  to make the sliders move an actuator motor is connected to the bottom sliders.  medyo nakakalito explain sir but it works.

the relay board in combination with a couple of limit switches tells the actuator whether it needs to move up or down.  and another relay that has an infrared capability is also connected to the relay board and allows me to control the whole thing with a remote.

my attempt at a diy 1d qrd diffuser.  to get the exact measurements i used this free app online can't recall the name right now.  i used 1 inch thick kiln dry lumber from the nearest hardware store.  sorry for the crappy picture.. quality actually looks better than what the pic is showing :)

first reflection point side walls.  diy rpg bad panels... it's suppose to do both, diffuser and absorber.

the rear of my av rack houses the voltage regulators, dedicated circuit breakers, and relays for the ht.

here's a video of the screen in action.  this is a 128"(16:9) fixed framed screen that goes up to reveal the LED TV and down to cover the TV again.  also shows the masking system working.  pardon the background noise, my ht is right next to the kitchen.

oo nga sir anong mechanism yung pag-akyat nung fixed frame?

i used a pulley and wire rope to pull the screen up/down sir.  the screen has guides on each side para stable and wire rope is connected on top center of the screen by a u bolt.  the other end of a wire rope is connected to a chain that is also connected to a sprocket which is also connected to a 12v gear motor.  nakakalito ba sir, hehe.  parang sa bike lang na naka-loop yung chain pero in this case limited lang run ng chain just to simulate up and down, depends on the direction of the gear motor which is also wired to the same relay board for the masking system para isang power supply lang ang gamit.

this would have been simpler if i just used an automatic roll-up screen but the problem with those is the wave it develops overtime.  tensioned screen would have been the best but i couldn't find one locally.  importing one with that size wasn't logical to me.  so diy route seemed to be the most practical way.

Thanks for the like, no I haven't installed the app yet, I may wait until I get a tablet, I find mob. phones a bit too small. I'm busy at the moment trying to learn how to drive the new gears so taking everything slowly   :)
