Title: New TV Shows of Summer 2009
Post by: SiCkBoY on Jun 23, 2009 at 07:54 AM
What do you guys think of Mental, Hawthorne, Royal Pains, Occupation, and Personal Affairs?  Any others that I may have missed?

I like Royal Pains. Psychoville kinda intrigues me.

Liked Hawthorne especially since it has Jada, who I've had a crush on for more than a decade now. :)

Royal Pains looks very promising, too. Personal Affairs, I'm ambivalent about. But Psychoville looks like it's going to be a good series especially since it has Dawn French.

Psychoville, I saw the first five minutes and well... I don't really like British shows.  So I'll pass up Personal Affairs as well.

Hawthorne looks promising.  But it's just so weird that there are hardly any doctors in that hospital.

How about Nurse Jackie?  Anyone?

just watched 2 pilots

The Philanthropist - it only became interesting for me when it tells you in the end that it's based on a real philanthropist and his unique approach to his job

Virtuality - The Matrix meets eXistenZ meets Lost. And it has Sienna Guillory.

The Impact (2-part mini-series)

Doomsday, meteors, magnetism, gravity, brown dwarf, and a fuller bodied Natasha Henstridge.

I've watched the first two episodes of Hung and I find it funny coz Thomas Jane's character (a well-endowed teacher/basketball coach) looks so clueless in his forray as a prostitute.

Dark Blue's good.

I'm also looking forward to Discovery Channel's The Colony -- a science reality show in which ten people are forced to use their wits to survive in a "post-apocalyptic" world.

ang dami nga bago,

aside from Dark Blue and Hung - there's Drop Dead Diva, 10 Things I Hate About You, and The Wanted.

I don't know if they can sustain their premises (aside from Dark Blue) and I haven't seen the pilot of The Wanted.

Currently downloading another pilot episode - Deperate Romantics.

Wala pa kasi yung mga frontliners. ;D

I'll watch the first two episodes of Defying Gravity later tonight.

Dark Blue is looking good with each new episode.

The Storm (a two-part mini) is not worth it.  It's even cheesier than Impact.

Now watching Torchwood Season 1.

Watched the 1st 3 eps of The Colony.    Reality show or acting?   One particular lady looks to be wearing make-up all the time.   Some of the participants seem to be taking the "experiment" very seriously - some seem to be playing along.  Anyways, it just makes me realize how much more difficult it would be if it were the real thing.   Just waiting for the next eps in high def to continue.

Got to watch 3 eps of Warehouse 13 as well.  It hasnt been that captivating yet.

The finale was telecast on 6th and 7th Aug.  The 1st few episodes are the usual audition stuff.   The dancing and choreography during the contest proper are pretty amazing - even for non-dancers.

You dont have to watch the 1st season before watching the 3rd (Children Of God) because the latest season was presented in such a way that even 1st time viewers would be able to know somehow the peculiarities of the main characters.

The 5-part 3rd season is more on human drama.  The 1st one so far (finished 4 eps palang) is all about alien technologies and what the Torchwood team does.

The pilot episode was 45mins, the succeeding episodes are 30mins only.
My Sunday night habit:
9PM - True Blood
10PM - Hung
10:30PM - Entourage

I wanna try Glee. Should I get the Director's Cut (unaired pilot) or just the aired pilot (though I think they've also now aired the Director's Cut).

If you get the aired pilot, you'll always wonder what you missed that was in the director's cut. ;)
