New Media Player from Asus.

Almost the same as every NMT out there except for RM/RMVB support. Read on for full description,

RMVB is a popular format in China. We just never get to see the media players that were designed for the Chinese domestic market. They all support RMVB.

We only see a subset that is marketed outside of China. There is a great number of media players which we don't see that is sold only in the Chinese domestic market. The company where a friend of mine works was approached by a Chinese businessman who was looking for contacts to sell a China media player. It had rmvb support but no HD capability.

Try doing a search on google for "rmvb player". You'll be surprised. ;)

Waaah, hows the quality? was there any degradation? Will look into that software later.

I didn't notice any.  File size and encoding time issues nalang siguro, depende sa settings, output format and encoder you choose to use ( I chose avi output with mp3 audio with ffdshow as my encoder para mabilis.   you can choose otherwise). This software is very useful, as it can handle almost any video format and has a lot of editing capabilities.

If this product's price-point is aimed squarely at the WD HD media player (rather than the popcorn hour), then you have the makings of a bestseller right here.

ASUS 0! TV HD Media Player

O!Play may be compact, but it's fully equipped to play most formats in your digital library. O!Play supports these formats:

Video Compression: MPEG1/2/4, RM/RMVB, VC-1, H.264
Video File Extension: .MP4, .MOV, .XVID, .AVI, .DIVX, .ASF, .WMV, .MKV, .RM, .RMVB, .FLV, .TS, .M2TS, .DAT, .MPG, .VOB
Audio: MP3, WAV, AAC, OGG, FLAC, AIFF
Image: JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF, TIFF
Subtitle: SRT, SUB, SMI, SSA

-Hassle-free multimedia playback without file conversion
-Full 1080p high-definition video via HDMI output
-Simple and fast plug-and-play connectivity (eSATA, USB 2.0)
-High-speed Ethernet LAN connection for easy network streaming
-Bitstream or decode Dolby Digital and DTS Surround audio
-Sleek and compact design

O!Play can also bitstream Dolby Digital and DTS Surround audio to your receiver to bring realism to the next level. If you plan on plugging the O!Play directly to your TV set, HDP-R1 can decode those formats and provide a stereo output without headache or hassle.

With such a wide range of compatibility, you can enjoy your media without waiting for conversion.

This nmt looks good! It also uses a Realtek (venus) chip plus Esata connector alongside with the USB connector.

ASUS O!Play vs Xtreamer
A comparison, to give you some food for thought.  The ASUS O!Play, HDPro and other media players using the Realtek 1207 chipset are pretty generic in their features.

Hmm, that would make it one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest, realtek player in the market.  :)
