Speaker NOOB 101
« on: Jan 26, 2011 at 05:02 PM »
hey guys! few things I want to understand before I purchase my speakers:

1. Floor Stander VS Bookshelves
I know there's a big difference pero which one is better? please dont consider the size of the room.
2. Bookshelves pwede ba gawing Rear?
If i will purchase bookshelves front speakers and later I will buy FS as my fronts, pwede ko ba gawing rear / surround yung BS?
Rear Speakers
In connection with number 2, ganito lang ba ang rear speakers like LSiF/X? or bookshelves pwede din?

You have to consider the room size....You may not want to use a bookshelf speakers on a large room or a floorstanders on a very small room.

Bookshelf speakers can also be used as rear...It all depends on your budget and requirements.

The better one is the one that sounds better to you. ;D

Yes, pwede. If you have lots of money to burn, you can even use floorstanders as rear speakers.

Rear Speakers

LSi F/X are bipole/dipole speakers. They give out a more dispersed sound (because the drivers send sound to two directions) compared to bookshelves which gives out directed or focused sound.

Any speaker can be used for rear purposes whether it be bookshelves, floorstanders or bipoles/dipoles.

1. Many times Floorstanders are just Bookshelves with "stands"  ;D

2. Yes!!

enlightened!! salamat sa reply!

now im reading two brands, EUROS 6 for FS or Aaudio's :) have not decided yet coz i havent audi both.
I already posted some questions in aaudio thread.

btw, SnS suggested to use Pioneer VSX-520-K for amp. If my approver (si kumander) and my budget will not approve it, would it be OK to use Konzert 502a to start this hobby? I'm very noob and hoping to learn more by getting the hardwares to have first hand experience ;)

Sir, I suggest you invest in a good amp/receiver first (not necessarily brandnew). Marami kang masasayang na pera kung panay-panay ang upgrade mo (kagaya ko). There are very good receivers in the marketplace, just look na lang. After that, yung speakers, again marami sa marketplace, instead of buying new ones na hindi swak sa pandinig mo. Better audition or listen to several speaker brands muna bago ka bumili. Belive me, makakatipid ka in the long run. :)
