The LCD P4P Top Rankings ( Pound-for-Pound )
« on: Apr 06, 2011 at 02:50 PM »

Pound for pound is a term to describe how any two things compare when bearing in mind their varying features.

It is most commonly used in combat sports such as boxing[1] or mixed martial arts[2] to describe a fighter's value in relation to fighters of different weight classes.

As these fighters do not compete directly judging the best fighter pound for pound is subjective and ratings vary. They may be based on a range of criteria including 'quality of opposition,' factors such as how exciting the fighter is or how famous they are, or be an attempt to determine who would win if all the those ranked were the same size.

With that in mind, I would like to invite everyone to list down their personal choice of the top 5 LCD TV's that are currently available.

Remember: It does not necessarily have to be backed up by hardcore 1st hand reviews. This is more of a "In your own opinion" or "According to your own perception" list.

Some criterias to consider:
- Features
- Bang-for-the-buck value for money versus its counterparts
- Size
- Reputation - low returns, etc.
- Popularity
- It has to be currently available
- etc.

Let me start with my own list:

Rank 1: LG 47LE5500
- I would have chosen 42" it it wasnt out of stock. Truemotion 120mhz, 42inch, wifi, Netcast, USB that plays MKV files and cheapest versus it's direct competitors.

Rank 2: LG 32LE5500
- See above, this one will be bang for the buck for 32-inch hunters.

Rank 3: LG 42LE7500
- This would have been perfect except for 1 make-or-break feature: A very reflective panel. This model ranks no. 1 though if I had a dark room dedicated for watching on this TV. Any other room that would have lighting or white walls that can bounce light wound hinder from getting this model.

Rank 4: Samsung LED 40D5000
- Definitely picking up popularity in the forums lately and as recommended well by SnS.
Trumotion 100mhz, wifi, lots of file sharing features, a USB MKV capable player that can also decode DTS.
The only thing that keeps this away from my top 1 is the fact that it can easily be inferior to 42-inch and 120mhz models. Then again, that's just me.

Rank 5: KTC 42-Inch LCD
- Ah can any TV define bang for the buck? 42 inches for 22K PHP +/-. I've personally looked at this TV and i'm telling you it will definitely give the branded ones a run for their money in terms of picture quality. Some stuff I hate: Limited USB media playing capabilities, no MKV play. 250++ Watts power, too high versus the LG's.

Again, those are just my take. I hope people won't quote this saying stuff like "you don't know TV's" "Noobie!" etc.

This is not a forum for judging posters opinions but rather, a forum for "your own opinion compared to others"
