My Budget Home Theater
« on: Sep 05, 2011 at 01:15 PM »
I decided to set up a home theater with stuff na hindi na ginagamit sa office ko and an old receiver and speakers that have been sitting at my house for years.  It turned out pretty good I think.  I probably spent about 10K lang to complete the room.  Its still only about 90% finished.  Tell me what you guys think or let me know if you have any suggestions.

Acer 720 Projector (about 3 years old and used for 20 hours only)

Harman Kardon Receiver thats a few years old but still works great.  This is the first thing I will upgrade.  Whats a good and cheap receiver nowadays?

Infinity Speakers that's also about 10 years old but still in perfect condition.

Cheap rear speakers (Hiteker brand) that's a piece of sh_t but it will do for now

Here are my questions for the more experienced guys out there:

1.  My projector is mounted on my ceiling so I cant get it to focus 100% on the screen.  Either the top portion will be focused or the bottom but never the entire screen.  What should I do?

2.  I am using a PC to view movies.  What can I do so the screen is filled with an image all the time?  (I use VLC)

3.  Does anyone want to buy my Harman Kardon Receiver.  Ill throw in a Harman Kardon disk changer for free!

4.  Any bright / innovative ideas to incorporate a 50in LED in this small space?

Very Nice Setup you got there!... :)

IMHO, aged is not the basis of performance in audio/video equipments. Some like wine " they get better when aged " .... :D

I'll skip on 1-2 questions as I don't have experience in PJ settings, third HK avr+cd is great combo for music. Lastly, I noticed your screen is flat on the wall, so quite different to incorporate on same place an LED TV. One option is to replace the screen with wall/ceiling mounted motorized screen and the TV mounted on the wall..  :)

Try lowering the projector.
Try switching the position of the speaker and screen para tumaas yung screen.
You have a well hidden subwoofer  ;D

Welcome to the gallery!

nice room!

1...  a longer (adjustable) mount might help.

2...  (skip)

3...   Post spec & price @ FS section...

4....  ceiling or wall mounted motorized screen.... then wall-mount the 50in LED

Thanks guys!  Actually yung nakikina niyo is not a sub.  Its actually a PCV pipe because there used to be a bathroom there.  I placed the sub behind the couch para yumayanig yung couch.

Yung projector pinababa ko na and that worked perfectly.  Thanks a million for that suggestion.

My problem kasi with mounting the TV on the wall where the screen is that drywall lang yung wall so it might not be able to hold the weight of the TV

Yes, baka di kayanin ng drywall yan. We had a project wherein we had to install a hanging bookshelf(for books) on a dry wall partition. What we did was glue one piece 1/2" plywood on the drywall itself, tapos pinakuan din namin siya dun, before installing the custom bookshelf. And problem was solved.

With some putty and good paint finish, and it's good to go.

- backlit for added lighting efx

hth  ;)

Very nice sir, ang linis na harap.

Good job on the PS brader Noli. Yep, second option might work better.

welcome to the gallery sir, nice set up you've got.. by the way sir, much better if the front speaker are at the

ear level to have a better sound localization, or if you can tilt them a little bit downward to point them in your

sweet spot.

just my two cents ;)

please take note of doors on both sides... reason why nasa taas ang speakers and tilting (as you said) is the only option I see. barya lang po (sa umaga)...  ;)

There are 2 doors. Maybe you can have one fixed permanently. That would greatly improve the sound image.

You're welcome sir.
