Behringer Speakers
« on: Nov 28, 2006 at 06:26 PM »
Has anybody here using Behringer speakers for their audio setup?
I'm planning to have a minimalist setup and would like to have your feedback about this brand.

These two models caught my fancy as they already have built-in 24-bit/192 kHz DACs

http://www.behringer.com/MS20/index.cfm?lang=ENG for $189.99

http://www.behringer.com/MS40/index.cfm?lang=ENG for $149.99

Your inputs will be very much appreciated.  ;D
Thank you very much.

sir dennis,

havent heard the MS20 or MS40 yet but the TRUTH B2030P  http://www.behringer.com/B2030P/index.cfm?lang=ENG sounds really sweet, they are comparable to the mackie studio monitors that costs about 3x, anyways try listenning to them side by side so you could compare

Behringer, Mackie, and Yamaha Studio speakers are really nice. One note I may have to raise to you is, they are near-field speakers. Meaning the speakers maintain a perfectly flat response at a really short distance (like 4 feet or less).

Cool thing about studio monitors, they have built-in amps, and eq switches for subtle tweaking.

I'm actually considering to purchase a pair of Behringer Truth monitors for my editing PC.
You wonder why it still not good enough after spending P1M.

I use the behringer ms 40 as computer speakers. I am really amazed by its soundstaging given my proximity to the speakers.  You get a precise but smaller soundstage. frequency response, to my ears, is just fine and I find instruments and vocals natural enough.  This is a very good buy depending on what you use it for.  As computer speakers, I think they are the best you can get for its price range.  I also tried it in my home audio and theater setup. I compared it to my usher x-719.  Mids were good, highs were ok, bass was bad.  But remember this is in comparison to a bookshelf that really goes low.

If you listen nearfield and want a cheap and amp free setup that sounds good as well, get the behringer.  But if you want a regular audio setup a good buy is the wharfedale 9.1.  However, you need an amp for this.

Are the Truths available locally? I just read about them in the website, and I had the impression they're passive speakers (vs the active MS monitors).  Any idea on cost, for that matter?  I saw a dollar price of 110-130 for the line.

I have a pair of Behringer Truth Monitors at home that I bought locally.  I use it for music studio set-up.

Frankly, i am extremely happy with the quality (to my ears at least).  You can hear all the instrument details, and bass is pretty decent.  These are active monitors (built-in amps) so you need to connect it to the pre-outs of your receiver.

Wala ba sa iyong sumubok mag-audition nito?  I think it will give a good run for the money any of the other bookshelf speakers out there.

Stores carrying it are located in Festival Mall, Robinson's Galleria, and Joint-Venture Sounds & Lights sa Q.C.

I don't think they're directly comparable. Studio Monitors often do not sound the same as Domestic Speakers. I suggest listening to them to understand the difference. Studio Monitors should sound "right" first and foremost (sounding good can be a byproduct), while Domestic Speakers often focus on sounding "good" to a certain audience (some do get to sound right in the process).

for my current application brader which one do you think should i get kasi its hard to compare speakers from  memory, my only problem with my current setup is that the high frequency is fatiguing after an hour or two but it sounds good very detailed and strong mids

If you're not mixing/mastering music and you don't like hearing fatigue, you might be better served by domestic speakers like the B5.

i think joint venture carries this brand. not to disappoint you guys, but in the sound industry, behringers are said to break or have a problem frequently(PA category). not sure on this product category though.

I read about that too but mostly on their electronic products and since B2031P is a passive monitor i dont think it will break easily unless the driver or the cabinet collapse  :D

I think most people here know that this is not a highly regarded brand. People buy it due to pricing and availability for the most part, afaik.
