What I immediately noticed about the 50X50 is the interpixel distance.
There's a big horizontal side-by-side distance between pixels. Those distances will form black vertical stripes that will be obvious on white backgrounds. Pag maraming white areas sa screen, kitang-kita ang mga fine vertical stripes na yon.
July last year pa when I first commented about it:
I just saw the Panny plasma 50X50 (lowest-end 2012 model, 720p) at Abenson's Makati this afternoon.
... Unfortunately, the resolution is unacceptable to me.
... On the 50X50, I can see the native pixels from a distance of about 7+ feet. At 10 feet away (my home viewing distance), the picture still has portions that are slightly jagged. At 5 feet away, forget about it.
I noticed that the 50X50 has a physical pixel structure that's very different from my present TV. Maybe the difference in pixel structures results in a picture that still isn't clean enough even at a 10 foot distance.
... I can't buy this TV at any price, since it's much worse than my present TV.
Naunahan ko pa nga yung comment ng Cnet (October 2012):
Like any 720p plasma at 50 inches, it can be possible to see pixel structure depending on your seating distance. At a distance of 8 feet it was easiest to discern the vertical structure on the X5 over any of the other 720p TVs in the lineup, which included a 50-inch Samsung and a 42-inch LG. http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-tvs/panasonic-tc-p50x5/4505-6482_7-35315178-2.htmlGanyan na ngayon ang 720p plasmas. With the older 720p plasmas, walang problema sa interpixel distances. But with the latest 720p plasmas, malaki na talaga ang interpixel distances. That's why if you're buying a new plasma, it has to be a 1080p, kasi nga, iba na ang mga bagong 720p ngayon.
Kahit Samsung, may interpixel distances din sa 720p plasma, but the Panasonic is worse.
Try to look for the vertical stripes on the showroom. If you can't see the stripes, then I guess it's OK for you to buy it.
