Samsung F5000 USB Wifi dongle capability
« on: Jul 23, 2013 at 06:05 PM »
Hi,

Has anybody tested or made an USB wifi dongle work on a Samsung F5000 model?  I wanted to see if the TV can connect to a NAS for it's content.  I know it can use the USB thumb drive for movies, pic, etc. but connecting to the NAS is more convenient rather than copying files.   TIA.

if your tv has a DLNA function, it should work. If none, I doubt if it can stream movies from your NAS

Series 5 yan tama? Saken 6, and I can stream movies from my PC. I mean I am directly playing my PC files from my tv, not the other way around. You need your NAS to have DLNA capability.

I'm not sure if ConnectShare uses DLNA, is this the feature wherein you can stream from your other android device to your tv?

But still, Samsung utilizes DLNA in order to discover shared media in the network.

I use XBMC on my PC since Windows Media Player has limitations when it comes to media sharing. I can play all my media files on the tv. Ang prob lang yung mga high bitrate na MKVs minsan nagbubuffer kasi wireless lang connection ko. Siguro kung nakawired na sya hindi na, kaso tinatamad akong maglatag ng wire... ;D

And to add, DLNA is an industry standard (started by Sony i think ;D), that's why I said on my previous post that your NAS has to have a DLNA server on it.
