Even before it airs locally on The Disney Channel, Bloomberg is reporting that High School Musical 2 will be released on DVD internationally on November 29th, with an R1 release in December.

I wonder if Viva will have the DVDs ready for local consumers on that date, or will we (as usual) only have only VCDs available, with DVDs to follow a few weeks (or months) later?

It was shown here in the states last week. I believe it was scheduled to be shown there mid- or early-September. The soundtrack made it to the shelves prior to the release of the movie...

I think its scheduled to be shown on Sept 9 on Disney.

I've been going to this site for the past month and checked HSM 2 but the release date keeps changing from Nov. 16 to Nov.29 to Dec. 7. When will it be really released?

PinoyDVD.biz release date are not accurate, it was place in the database to enable quick transition to 'in stock' when the stock arrive. These placeholder dates are usually one week from the date it was last changed...hence, Nov 16, 23, 29, and now Dec. 7.

But expect it before the end of the year... have patience and be on the lookout for it in the Now available and in store thread...

I inquired about this release at Astro SM North EDSA and based on the advisory of Viva, the release is tentatively set on Nov. 28. However, was informed that for Viva releases, VCDs are usually first to be released, then the DVD version is released a few weeks after. This is the same case as Die Hard 4, whereby the VCD was released ahead of the DVD version which was just released a few days ago.

I'm curious, since the one I got has a slip case.

And our R3 version will definitely be different from the R1, since although it's not listed on the package, it contains all the Asian music videos shot as promotional material for The Disney Channel Asia, including Nikki Gil's.

yeah, i was in a hurry kasi so I took a pic of the ones nearest to me.. yung mga may slipcase kasi was displayed at the other side..

The slipcase is a stepdown from Viva other releases that have slipcases. It's open on the side but the end is bare, like those of Magnavision's recent slipcases. Unlike Fantastic Four's which has a tucked in-end. Sorry, if it sounded confusing, I don't know how to describe it.

Basta nasa baliktad na side yung opening ng slipcase. And although the printing quality is okay, the slipcase material itself looks cheap. Tsaka the slipcase is big for the Amaray casing, so it looks awkward. I held off buying this. Ang dami ko nang nabiling DVD's at full price recently, so I'll save some naman for sales.

It does say "includes never-before-seen music sequence" printed up front. Or is this referring to another sequence in the film?

Yes, that refers to the song on the CD that wasn't on the Disney Channel broadcast but is now on the DVD, Ryan and Sharpay's duet, Humu Humu Nuku Nuku Apua'A.

I just bought the DVD (with the slipcase) yesterday at Odyssey Alabang Town Center. I was passing by Odyssey going to the Cinemas when I saw the DVD on display and immediately bought it. I still haven't seen the JUMP IN!: FREESTYLE EDITION DVD though, if anyone knows where I can get it please tell me.

Here are the BONUS FEATURES with my comments:
BLOOPERS - this feature is not actually listed on the back cover of the DVD. These outtakes are really hilarious, Zac (Troy) makes a lot of mistakes and goofs around a lot and he evens shows his "BOOTY DANCE" (and he can really shake his butt) which is my fave part of the Bloopers. Ashley (Sharpay) makes a lot of mistakes too and the outtake from the Day Spa scene was really funny. There are a lot of outtakes of the cast goofing off.
MUSIC AND MORE
"HUMUHUMUNUKUNUKUAPUA'A" EXCLUSIVE SCENE - this the reason the DVD is called "Extended Edition" this 5-minute additional scene can be viewed from here and in the actual extended movie.

World-Wide Phenomenon - Director Kenny Ortega introduces the International Music Videos and gives us a sneak peak of other International Music Videos.
Bet On It (Taiwan) - sung in Mandarin by Show Lo, this is my least faves of all 4 videos. The video was totally off the theme of High School Musical.
Everyday (Hong Kong) - sung in Cantonese by Justin Lo and Kary Ng, although I cannot understand the video this is one of my faves.
You Are The Music In Me (Malaysia) - sung by Vince Chong and Jaclyn Victor , this is one of my faves tied with Nikki's Gotta Go My Own Way. (This is the Director's Cut version of the music video, it doesn't have clips from the movie.)
Gotta Go My Own Way (Philippines) - sung by Nikki Gil, this is actually my most fave tied with Vince and Jaclyn's You Are The Music In Me. (This is the Director's Cut version of the music video, it doesn't have clips from the movie.)

SING ALONG WITH THE MOVIE - optional on-screen sing along lyrics. This time they used karaoke-like subtitles which highlights the words and and not like subtitles in the High School Musical DVD and The Cheetah Girls DVD.

The DVD was great but it needed more Bonus Features (it’s kinda like Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix DVD - few special features, two versions: one with and without a slipcase). Hopefully there would be re-release of the DVD like High School Musical: Remix Edition[i/].

Just bought a copy today at Astroplus SM North EDSA. Was surprised to learn that this is on sale for only P350 (from P550) today until tomorrow, December 1. After Dec. 1, the price goes back to P550.

I guess this is Viva's way of enticing the buying public (like us at PinoyDVD) to buy now at a lower price rather than wait for it to be on sale months from now.

At SM Dept. Store, their stocks are not in slipcases, although they have free posters (which my daughter was already able to get when I previously bought the Fantastic 4 dvd). Kaya, sa Astro ako napabili kasi naka-slipcase 'yung stocks nila.

Also bought this today at P350. I was already at the Astro SM Sucat counter paying for several DVDs I got for only P199 with High School Musical Encore Edition included when the cashier offered it to me. Madali naman ako i sales talk, so I got it.

thanks sa mga nag-post ng special price for the HSM2. got it this evening sa Astro North EDSA for P350 nga. i think there's only one copy left there. matagal na hinahanap ng mga pamangkin ko ito, but i won't buy it for P550. at least, napasaya nyo sila.

Sayang, failed to visit astro yesterday. Will check today if 350 pa rin. But ok lang, no rush, am sure it will go there eventually, baka 299 pa, as all Disney/Pixar DVDs do.

Got this on sale for P350 at Odyssey Greenbelt 1 last Saturday evening. Ang bilis naman yatang mag sale nito. Anyway, my daughter was happy with my early Christmas gift!

In some stores the DVD was already sold out but the VCD is still available. Good thing I bought the DVD on the first day of the release.
