Question lang po... umiinit ba ang Xtreamer sobra? I've been playing 720p movies round the clock, with the fan set to off, so far I barely feel heat coming from the unit.

Everybody has a different operating environment. Ambient temperature, installation position of the Xtreamer, air flow around it, etc. can all influence the longevity of your Xtreamer (and most electronic devices, in general).

Those playing 1080p material will find that their Xtreamers generate more heat. I don't recommend operating your Xtreamer with the fan set to 'OFF', unless you have a passive cooler.

Excessive heat will shorten the life of your device. Keeping it cool, on the other hand, helps prevents damage and extends its operating life.

I just realized that my question was rather stupid... coz I don't have an internal HDD in the Xtreamer. That makes a world of difference, doesn't it?

Dahil kapag may laman na HDD, additional heat, tapos mas cramped na yung loob so less breathing space for the electronic board nung Xtreamer.

btw, although xtreamer suggests to turn OFF the fan after installing the sidewinder, is it OK if I still set the fan to "LOW" for extra cooling?

Hi Eric,

How much is the Sidewinder? Please reserve one for me too. By the way, would this entirely eliminate the need for a fan if I install a built-in 500Gb HDD? Possible overheating is the only thing stopping me from buying the disk.

Nakabit ko na sidewinder kagabi, medyo tyagaan alisin yung orig cover, pero pag nakabit na, gwapo na

tried to play a 1080p movie, after the show, hindi na masyadong mainit yung unit, halos di mo mapapansin yung init. also, i still keep my fan running on medium, tutal hindi naman maingay yung fan ko, tulong na din yun sa pag alis ng init dahil may internal hard disk ako.

With the sidewinder the Realtek chip runs a lot cooler as the heat can be easily dispersed outside of the unit. Just be careful when detaching the old heatsink so as not to damage/lift the pads off the pcb.

Even if the HDD goes to sleep (stops spinning), it still consumes a little energy -
the circuitry will give off some heat.
