Using your CDRKING PC Remote to control XBMC
« on: Dec 09, 2008 at 01:41 PM »
This is a work in progress, please bear with me while I'm trying to get this done:

I'm starting this thread to show how I configured my cdrking remote to control XBMC, including starting and stopping XBMC and even shutting down the PC.

WHAT YOU NEED:
1. Windows XP HTPC (Works also in Vista but my HTPC is XP so I cannot assure 100% compatibility)
2. CDRKing PC Remote -
3. XBMC - http://xbmc.org/download/
4. Eventghost - http://www.eventghost.org/downloads/    (get the latest version)

INSTALLATION & SETUP:
1. Install XBMC  - Make sure your XBMC setup works by playing a few videos.
2. Install Eventghost
3. Open Eventghost.
---- Load this configuration file.
http://rapidshare.com/files/172193334/MyConfig.zip.html

---- The secret to using this remote is to setup the remote as a GENERIC HID device.
---- Take note also that this remote emulates 4 (four) HID devices, not just one so you need to configure all of them to access all buttons.  See attached image.

Make sure that your EG config looks like this:

USAGE:
To open/close XBMC and close, press the GUIDE button.
Try out the other buttons to see what they do.
Feel free to change your configuration to whatever you prefer.
Post here if it works for you and if you need help.

You are not supposed to use the MCE plugin.  as I said in the instructions above, use the GENERIC HID plugin.  This remote emulates four (4) HID devices so you need to define 1 Generic HID device for each.

it should look like this (the XINXIN DEVICES):

sorry I did not visit pinoydvd during the christmas break.

It seems iba yun manufacturer nang remote mo.  just remove the xinxin and create a HID plugin for each of these 3 devices.

If media portal has eventghost has an eventclient for media portal, it should.  If it does not you can always just use keyboard emulation in eventghost to control MP.

BTW, meron mga bagong klase nang PC remotes ang cdrking.  di ko pa lang natetest pero mas mura siya @ 380 pesoses
