I can successfully mount a USB flash drive directly to my TV's USB port. HDD hook-up was unsucessful, though. But I heard that certain brands allow HDD's to be connected (i.e. Samsung U-series). Depende ata sa model ng TV. I'm not sure about the Iphone, unless detectable sya ng TV mo, then you can probably hook-it up.

A firmware update is necessary if you are having certain issues with your TV. There could be some bugs w/c the manufacturer fixed, and probably some extra features have been included in it. Check mo yung details ng upgrade kung applicable sa case mo.

In the case of LG xxLD460, it can play virtually everything.. from pictures, movies to high definition films.

Although my 37LD460 has that feature, I'm still glad I have an XTreamer beside it.

A dediated HD Media Player is way better than any built in player in the TV.

That's only a plus for me when playing short clips on my thumb drive (so that I won't have to wait 10 secs for the XT to boot up).

hth. :)

There is a known issue somehow with LGxx460 with .mp4 format.  It seems that it could not play clips beyond the 2 hour 6 minute mark.  Hope LG will release a firmware update soon.

Advantage nga lang for short clipd, pics and musics. D naman din siguro masira or magka issue lcd tv kung different types of hardware ang plug mo?

It depends on the HDTV. Yung iba pwede external HDD, yung iba hindi.  I think you're referring to the LG LD 460, and yes, pwede flash drive, external HDD. Don't know about the iphone. Check page 73 of the manual for more info on compatibility, etc. (LD 460 din TV ko)

The usb port is a "feature" of the HDTV kaya it should never be a bad thing to keep using it, regardless of the number of different usb devices you have. Just don't unplug your device kapag umaandar (syempre). Also, try not to leave your device plugged in all the time kahit hindi naman ginagamit / naka-patay ang TV...baka maapektuhan yung usb port mismo (just in case, parang sa mga PC / laptop / PS3).

As for virus...siguro make sure nalang na "clean" yung usb device mo (I really don't know kung may virus for HDTVs).

And yes, firmware support is good for your TV.

Btw, I replied to your other question regarding dun sa 41 hours na nakalagay sa customer support / product info ng TV mo sa other thread.

Yes, do not not leave any USB device (that doesn't supply it's own power) plugged in all the time.
Masusunog yung USB port.

AFAIK, pwedeng multiple external HDDs connected sa LG LD460 using a USB hub.

Personally, I would still use a dedicated HD Media Player in watching full length movies.

Pang video clips at video game reviews (via USB Thumb Drive) lang ang silbi ng USB port ng LD460 ko.
Pang quick fix, ika nga.. :)
