Hi, no0b here just want some clarification

Bale just need to know how to set up using my PC that has an HDMI output na HD7.1 daw in addition sa Video. Video Card is Radeon HD6790.

What receiver should I be getting? Kung avr na HDMI Switching lang? I don't even get the term hehe

bale ganito po ba?

PC --> AVR --> LED HDMI input?

pano kung 5.1 lang yung AVR at hindi 7.1?

Recap/clarification lang po ng questions. Regarding building my HTPC:
1. What AVR should I be getting?
2. Will the HK AVR 134 be ok? Since it only has HDMI pass through?
3. What is HDMI Switching?
4. pano kung 5.1 lang yung AVR at hindi 7.1?
5. PC to AVR to LED HDMI input po ba mangyayari?

hdmi switching is basically what its name implies - it's only a switch. so you can toggle between different hdmi ports.

what you have to look for is an hdmi w/ "repeating" function. so kumbaga, if you have an hdmi repeater (decodes signal and not merely serving as a bridge between source and display), siguradong hdmi switcher na din yan. an hdmi avr that does not have repeater function is old technology.

look at all the new level entry avr's that already have hdmi repeaters.

Denon 1312

Onkyo 309

Yamaha V371

as long as an avr decodes dolby true hd and dts hd, bagay siya sa HD 6790 Graphics mo. pwedeng pwede na 5.1 kung budgeted po tayo.

matagal na din akong di tumitingin sa mga avr's kaya if i've made a wrong suggestion or comment, kindly correct me na lang.

My video card output is HDMI 1.4 with 7.1 surround and I tried using an HDMI 1.3 cable and it does not work.

The video card is not detecting the cable. Does this mean I need an HDMI 1.4 cable instead?

or will the receiver naman ang magkakaron ng problem kasi 1.3 lang siya?

Need to ask, kasi medyo mahal ang cable, baka di rin naman pala gagana ehehe

Yeah, you need an hdmi 1.4 cable. Backward compatible ang hdmi so walang problema sa receiver.

You will only need a hdmi 1.4 cable if you want to do 3D for both video/audio in 1 connection. I have used a 5670 and 5770 card using just a 1.3 cable to my yamaha avr also 1.3 and I'm able to do 5.1 and 7.1 bitstreaming and video with just the single cable.

What AVR are you connecting your video card to?

^ No sir. sa HD6790 mismo di niya nadedetect na meron ng nakaSaksak sa kanya na HDMI Cable na 1.3 version.

Just to be clear, nandyan na ba yun AVR134 or parating pa lang and you're just connecting the HDMI cable to the video card and wala pa nakakabit sa other end?

If nandyan na, what happens when you do the first connection? walang audio lumalabas sa speakers connected to the AVR134?

Wala po, kasi di naman po nadedetect ng Video Card yung HDMI 1.3 na Cable, so I think kelangan ko lang palitan ng HDMI 1.4 na Cable, na bukas pa ko makakabilis..

Where did you buy the HDMI 1.3 cable you are using? Have you tried any other HDMI cable? I think it's more a handshake problem with your current HDMI 1.3 cable and not because it needs a HDMI 1.4 cable.

But if you really need to buy a new cable getting a 1.4 would be a good idea for future proofing na rin.

Kasi on my setup when I turn on my receiver my monitor would go blank for a few seconds and ATI HDMI output would already be connected and all PC audio will be routed to the receiver.

Your new cable probably won't help. You have two problems.

1. You need a DISPLAY for your video card to detect something over HDMI. You need to connect a TV/Monitor on the Monitor Out of your AVR, then select your PC as the source in the AVR (since your AVR does not do video processing / does not simulate a display on the HDMI input side).

2. Your AVR does not seem to be capable of handling audio over HDMI. The HDMI ports on that model are only there for video switching.

Kung ganoon nga specs ng HK AVR mo tama si Stagea. I do have my plasma connected to the hdmi out of my yamaha maski naka off yun TV nadetect nya yun AVR ko as a connected display. Kung on na yun TV the detected display will be changed to the plasma.

I guess I should have researched the specs of your AVR first. I just assumed it was a recent model since you were trying out the 7.1 HDMI output of your ATI 6790.

good pm sir, ok lang po ung cdrking na cable kahit 1.3.
try nyu po kabit hdmi sa hdmi out ng vidcard papunta sa isa sa mga hdmi in ng avr, then ung monitor nyu po pwede ikabit sa avr (sa hdmo out ng avr po). kaya lang po everytime i turn on ang pc kelangan naka turn on din avr para lumabas ang display samonitor (kasi sa avr nakakabit ang monitor).

for the sound kelangan nyu po ng coaxial or optical cable connecting from the pc to the avr to experience 5.1 surround (hanggang 5.1 surround lang po avr 134 hehe)

Or, pwede po nakakabit ang monitor sa vidcard (hindi na sa avr) via hdmi connection or dvi(from pc) to hdmi (sa monitor)... hope it helps sir di ku papo nabasa buong thread at kakauwi lang galing work hehe.. dnt wory gagana po yan.. ang ok lang po ung cdrking hdmi cable.

ok alam ko na, dapat pala yung S/PDIF ang motherboard ko pinagkaabalahan ko dito hehe yun ang kelangan kong cable/wire sa mobo ko, di pala ako naglagay ng coax or optical out sa PC...
