Now thats a problem ;D

Naka-toroidal transformer na sila and yet...
i don't think here is a relation between the type of transformer used and the amplifier protection circuit.

clipping is also different from protection. an overdriven amp will clip and still continue playing, while an amp in protect mode will shut down.

if you cross them high (100 hz or higher) and make sure they are not overdriven, pwede.

ok lang yan kung moderate lang ang volume level mo most of the time, saka maririnig mo rin naman kung clipping na ung amp mo wag mo na lakasan kung ganun.

pero kung twice ang lakas ng ampli sa driver pwede po diba i series

e.g.    ampli 1000 watts 8 ohms = 500 watts 4ohms speaker +  500 watts 4ohms speaker

forgot ko na physic ohms law

How about connecting a series resistor at the speaker? :)

you'll waste power at the resistor pero 8 ohms na hehehehe   ;D ;D

I'm planning on getting a new speaker.
Problem is, it has 4ohms impedance.
I will hook this up to my HK 235 which has an 8 ohms impedance and a Bada power amp which has an 8ohms impedance as well.

Will be using this for about 2 - 4 hours per session.
Any long term effects on the speaker, amp and AVR?
depends on how loud are you normally listening.
in this case, your load(speakers) will draw more current from your amp than 8ohm speakers.
if your level gets too loud, the current rush might put your amp into danger of clipping.
youll notice this when sound from your speakers starts to get crazy(garalgal na).
so you can get it but just dont listen too loud. :) :)

My speakers are rated at 4 ohms and my amp has both 4ohm and 8ohm tap.  When using the 8ohm tap, bass became slightly louder but loose.  For the highs and mids, there were no discernable sound differences using either the 4ohm or 8ohm taps.

that is because putting a 4 ohm speaker on the 8 ohm tap reduced the load impedance that your tubes see, thus more power was available to your speakers.....

if you liked this setting, there is no problem if you like to keep it that way...

I prefer using 4ohm tap for the 4ohm speakers.  Bass was cleaner, kinda boomy using the 8ohm tap.
