Opinion wanted on settings
« on: Jul 27, 2006 at 03:12 PM »

Hi guys,

I'm using the following settings:

Wharfedale Diamond 8.4 L/R = Large +0db
Wharfedale Diamond 8 Center = Large +0db
Wharfedale DFS rear L/R = Small  (as indicated in the manual), +2db

Velodyne CHT-12R = connected to the Yamaha RX-V2095 via LFE output, Y connected to both
L/R inputs on the sub, volume is set to "5" - "8" clicks Movie mode.
SW output = "Both Main and SW"

Room Size = 3m x 4m

Any opinions on how to do this better?  I've used the tone generator of the Yamaha to balance levels, other
than that...that's about it...

Thanks

Your setting seems fine to me, except the center which might benefit more from a SMALL setting coz I don't think those center speakers can go down as low as your main speakers.

Sir much better if u were to set speaker level using SPL meter in order to
achieve equal levels. Most of the time room dependant din kc system eh.  ;)

Thanks guys....

what about the "center delay" setting?

It is variable from 0ms to 5ms, how would I use this better?

I would suggest that you also use the small setting with your main speakers to small. Set also the subwoofer option to "use"(i think) and not to both. This will crossover all freq. lower than 80 hertz. to your sub. Your mains will benefit from the reduced resonance of your main speakers. Invest in an inexpensive SPL meter.
