Finished with Anzahl car acrylic polyurethane:

Verdict: Sounds really good. Blends very well with my RS1 mains. Thump of the kickdrum sounds very near the real thing. And the best thing is that box vibrations are very minimal even at very high volume levels, thus achieving my goal.  8)

Alongside finishing my dual-opposed sub, I've made some diffusers:

Rough surfaces will just need some sanding and will finish it with enamel.
There is still 4 pcs diffuser that I'll make after this.

Thanks for the comments mga bros.
Next stop will be something that looks like this:

I think I'll just modify the face of the column into wood-looking rather than leather looking.
This will be after I finished my 8 ft. wide diffuser.  :D

bossing threadlock ang jaw ko nag drop
Ang subwoofer mo talaga namang rock
ayos na pintura para syang reyna
sigurado ako ang tunog nya sobrang ganda

sana isang araw, marinig namin yan,
Mahusay mong kamay, sana matutunan
Pag gawa ng kahon, malaking tipid ipon,
Bulsa moy may laman, may pasalubong pa sa hapon.

Salamat po Bowwww

bro onkyo,

Installment kumbaga.

The standing coin vibration test
I tried this simple test this morning just for me to see how much vibration this thing can handle.
I put 2pcs. 5-peso coin and 2pcs. 10-peso coin, standing near the edge of the box and with this setup fired up 'Master and Commander" dvd.

The canon blasts and ship wreckage scene on the first 10 minutes of this movie taxes the subwoofer a lot and creates a lot of vibrations for the subwoofer to handle. As for my experience with auditioning of subwoofers in the past, I have seen one subwoofer supposively of good brand, which had a dancing price tag placed on top of the box when DTS demo 9 disc was played. ;D

Here is the pic of the standing coin setup:

Result: test passed -- the coins did not move from its location or fall off the edge of the box.  ;D

BTW, in this pic, it is quite obvious to the error I've made during the sanding process(the red comment in the picture) -- I was trying to smoothen the boundary b/w the corner and edge of the plywood so I sanded it parallel with the corner, only realizing it was bad when I stained the box. Anyway this error is only obvious when looking closely at the surface. Taught me a lesson that even the sanding affects the final outcome, do better next time. ;D

thanks mga bros.
tsamba lang yan  ;D :D

sa close-up inspection marami actually imperfections yan, sa malayo lang maganda tingnan.  ;D

yep, at least based on my experience auditioning of different subs. Those subs that have walls vibrating a lot usually have poor construction quality and usually also have poor sound quality that is noticeable with music. It is not the walls of the box that should vibrate, only the cone and of course the spider inside should. Theoretically there should be zero wall vibrations because basically they are not part of the cones. ;D Try it for yourself on your next audition. :D

ikaw brader mark ha.  ;)

good thing you up sir noel's thread. as i remembered when he posted this thread, my sub was not an svs yet. and even without the coins, my sub moves because of the strong bass signals. kaya even without the coins, i know it wont pass the test.

so now i tested my plus with the coins, it took me ages to set up the two 5 peso coins to stand on its side. demoed ironman 2 (climax fight scene between robots and the two ironmen) and of course hulk (sonic canon scene). and what do you know. hindi bumagsak ang coins.  ;D

took videos for proof. let me see if i can upload it somewhere, although after the scenes and video taking portion, when i played the scenes again, i tried to feel the enclosure with my hands, on very heavy bass scene you could feel the very very slight purring of the enclosure, but i guess it was not enough to topple the coins.  ;D

whew, kala ko nga babagsak, will try on the flight of the phoenix scene, mas matindi yon at subsonics yon.
